ProgrammingRe: Journey To Being A FULLSTACK Web Developer by iLearner: 11:50pm On Jul 15, 2020
Like someone said up there, you can't possibly become a full stack in three months. In fact, in my opinion, you can't master the whole of frontend in Just three months. JavaScript alone may gulp all of the three months to master and be able to make substantial projects with.

My advice;
Since you know HTML, you may want to go through semantic HTML briefly. That shouldn't take more than a week. Then try replicating user interfaces with your knowledge of HTML and CSS. It'll allow you master the arts.

Dive into JavaScript judiciously. Learn the basics, learn the concept of DOM and how to manipulate it. Then study advanced JavaScript concepts. Most times, you'll learn much better if you go through project tutorials. I recommend John Smilga on Udemy for this.

Remember to learn one thing at a time, but do not waste all the time trying to get advanced with HTML and CSS, because more than 60% of the codes you'll be writing for at least, interactive frontend projects will be JavaScript.

And then, backend can come into the picture.

Good luck sir!

Saying Javascript is not a programming language in this context will mostly go on performance issues. While you can almost use Javascript to write a few things other programming languages can do, It also used to be true that scripting languages were generally interpreted at runtime instead of compiled ahead of time, leading to poor performance compared to compiled code that could be optimized at compile time.

Here are some flaws of JavaScript :
- It s not typed
- You can't do classes and inheritance with it. Ho... sorry, you can, there are even twenty ways of doing it... and it's the problem. Code using another code convention is painful to read.
- It is slow / it does not compile

If JavaScript is a programming language, then everything is too; Bash, SQL, XSL, doing a query on Google, e.t.c.

Logically, a man can marry a USA citizen and be given the USA nationality through the marriage. In as much as he's a USA citizen, he's still not q "real" citizen.
Wait. Because a language has flaws automatically makes it not being a programming language?

I guess the ones you categorise as programming languages don't have flaws?

Because JavaScript is interpreted instead of compiled, then it is not a programming language?

Saying JavaScript is slow is really laughable. In fact, saying JavaScript is not a programming language because of a perceived performance flaw is ridiculous. Let me ask; is this just a personal opinion or general view? Also, have you ever built anything using JavaScript?

Every programming language has its strength and weaknesses but....before one decides to learn a particular language at least there must be a motivation or a particular niche that the person wants to apply that knowledge among many.

Based on the context so far I guess this post is about learning the basics of programming and if it is I'll always suggest PYTHON.

Apart from its simplicity and less lines of codes, it's readability is exceptional compared to other languages as well as the online community. Though interpreted, it is still a beginner friendly programming language to learn.

I've studied Python, C, Java, PHP, Dart, Javascript (though not considered a programming language) and C++ and I'll always say Python is the best choice as a beginner.

Back on one's niche....you want to be a developer, hacker, e.t.c., each of these languages have their strength in any fields and you can even combine two or more to achieve your goal.

Like my teacher will always advice....it's not about knowing 5 languages but mastering one language is the best. Python can be used for almost anything a programming language can be used for in today's world.

Bonus
For Developers in Mobile App, instead of learning Java/kotlin, c++, c#, swift, e.t.c., you can learn Dart and develop a cross-platform Mobile App (Dart and Flutter).

Remember the choice is what gives you satisfaction. No one is perfect.

Well whichever way you choose to look at it is okay. My argument is that people shouldn't be scared of programming due to mathematics. That's my humble submission.
You're right actually.

But again, I feel people shouldn't just delve into some aspects of programming without some mathematical background. I am a Statistics student and I know how much of advanced Statistics there is in Data Science.

Logic is needed not mathematics. Math itself is a subset of logical reasoning.

Guy, get your ass off that bed & pot and find your daily bread!!!

Leave that comfort zone (complacent attitude) before it wrecks you
A lot of people posting 17-20, whereas they didn't literally leave their parents home, they only went to higher institution and when there's break, they'll still be back to the same home.

I'm not saying anyone should be overly comfortable with staying in their parents home, and of course, doing nothing. If a young man is still staying with his parents by 25 simply because he's yet to finish schooling or learning whatever, and has to still depend on them fully or partially, what kind of daily bread would you ask such person to get up and go find in a society that heavily relies on certificate?

You can't call anyone lazy because they're still with their parents at 25 or even more. You should analyse their situation first, and well, probably you'd be able to provide them a solution.

The last thing I'll allow thou, is to have anyone's opinion online affect my decision in real life. People aren't paced equally smiley

iAmTheJoker:
Actually according to Wikipedia "a programming language is a formal language comprising a set of instructions that produce various kinds of output"... going by this definition HTML can be categorized as as programming language because
HTML code is used to provide instructions to a browser as to how to display data in a document/ file. If you produce a .html file with HTML markup in it, and open it up in a browser - the browser will use those instructions to configure the appearance of the page.....
Just saying
HTML is a markup language with the main purpose of rendering and formatting documents on the webpage. It cannot be said to be a programming language because it doesn't give any logical instructions to the computer.

Nelso2:
Saw a contact on her phone late last year, saved as aa1 and each time he wassup her it's either he calls her my friend or my love.

Confronted her but she denied, saying it's her customer that is owing her money. Been searching for the contact but couldn't find it again after then.

Recently, I searched on her phone while she was sleeping, went through her wassup again, saw a number saved as 3, had to checked on it, behold the profile picture is the same man. Funny part of it, each time she chat wit him, she deletes the chat at the end of it. Been mad since and about to confront.

The man in question is almost 54 and I am in late 30s.
This is what you should do,,

Block the man on WhatsApp and delete his number. Then save your own number or another WhatsApp number of yours with what she saved the man's number with, and even use the man's picture. Then chat her up nastily. Drop the message before she wakes, when she wakes and pick up her phone to go through her chats, monitor her reaction and what her replies would be.

People don't bother double-checking the number they've already saved before.

Do this and when she replies the chat thinking she's chatting with the man, you'll easily catch her that way if she's truly cheating .

EducationRe: How Do I Convert Hnd Slt To Mls by iLearner: 9:10pm On Apr 26, 2020
Most universities do not accept ND/HND for DE into medical courses. They rather accept A'levels such as Cambridge and Jupeb. Some accepts IJMB too. If you have any school in mind, make sure they'd accept HND for DE into MLS before proceeding with your application.

I started out with php and java.
It's was nice then showing off your latest android app(with help from stack overflow) and feeling like the next zuckerberg by building an fb clone.
Every guy in my lodge(at uni) knew laravel, but you'd search the whole campus to find someone who could implement a crude version of PageRank.
Of course you know it takes a great deal of theoretical cs to architect high performing software, and thats where the money is.
For me, getting into web dev without knowing the underlying theory would be a waste of your time......at least it was for me.
So what you mean in essence is not about him avoiding web development but knowing exactly where to start from?

I ve taken the most unconventional approach to learning programming.
Being unserious in secondary school, it affected my progress in 2018.
You need to settle any problem you have with math if you dont want any issues. Google pdfdrive.com and download in this order developmental math for college students, college algebra and trigonometry, linear algebra, classical geometry, calculus, advanced calculus, vector calculus, ordinary and partial differential equations. If you want to avoid begging to build websites on nairaland, avoid web development, android or any shiny applications until you're theoretically grounded.
Why are you asking him to avoid web development?

In Nigeria, even if one is a pervert, the conventional way the so-called fourteen years old presented sex would be deemed abnormal. It's a social factor. We should not justify it with civilization; you can't be more American in Nigeria. This is Nigeria.
The only difference is we are bunch of hypocrites while they're less of it.

There's no special charge for faculty of science courses. It'll be 25k in 100l and less than or equal to 20k for subsequent years.

Btw, Computer Science is now 5years in UI
