RomanceWhy I Support Monopoly In A Developing Country by iLegendd(op): 10:21am On Sep 26, 2025
I saw this comment on a post about Dangote reorganizing his company by sacking all Nigerians who joined a union, so I wrote this article.

Dangote is really on a dangerous part.....

This man wants full monopoly on oil and gas in Nigeria. And most people ain't seeing it that way.

See union has to be formed. The government should call Dangote to other
Why I Support Monopoly in a Developing Country

In advanced economies, monopoly is strictly discouraged because it stifles competition. But in developing countries, monopoly can serve a very different purpose—it can act as a catalyst for competition.

Take Nigeria as an example. For decades, no individual invested in building a refinery. Then along came Dangote, who built one. Suddenly, people labeled him a “monopolist.” But in reality, he is not a monopolist—he is a competition instigator.

Here’s how it works:
When one person dominates an industry, others—especially the wealthy—eventually grow frustrated with the control and the pricing power of that player. That frustration fuels ambition. Some rich men will rise up and say, “Enough is enough. We will build our own refinery—bigger, better, and cheaper.” Soon, you don’t have just one refinery, but 10 or 15. And what happens when multiple players enter? Prices drop, efficiency rises, and the consumer benefits.

Without Dangote’s step, many billionaires in Nigeria would have remained passive, never daring to enter refining. His dominance triggers competition that would not have existed otherwise. The same happened in cement and sugar, and the same logic can be applied to textiles, steel, agriculture, and more.

For instance, Nigeria’s textile industry is currently weak—we rely heavily on imported second-hand clothes. But if one visionary builds the largest textile factory, producing all kinds of fabrics at scale, others will eventually rise to challenge him, driving prices down and creating a thriving competitive industry.

So, in developing nations, monopoly is not the end of competition—it is often the spark that ignites it. The initial monopoly builds the foundation, provokes rivals, and forces government oversight. Then, true competition emerges, and industries mature.

In this way, monopoly—though temporary—can be the seed of growth in a developing economy.

So the strategy is simple: find an empty or almost empty industry, build on it, dominate it, and monopolize it. Then wait. A decade later, others—driven by profit, pride, or the desire to break your hold—will rush into that same industry. Suddenly, competition explodes, prices fall, efficiency rises, and the industry begins to boom.

This is not just personal success—it is national progress. By pioneering and monopolizing a neglected sector, you set the stage for others to enter, and in the process, you help build the backbone of the country’s economy. This is what got America to where they are today.

Since the demise of Fela, no Nigerian took standing up for the masses seriously. Even the ones that tried, got bought over by the government or they ended up joining politic and started playing the same game they once spoke against until VDM came along and now, everyone is trying to be like him and if they don't succeed, they start abusing him out of jealousy.

It looks as if VDM has monopolized speaking up for the people. When he speaks, even the government takes action. He's the only trusted news channel Nigeria has.

Now, every youth wants to have a voice like VDM. Look at how one man has made millions on Nigerian youths become fearless to speak on camera and call out the government.

So, a developing country needs lots of monopolists to trigger jealousy and anger in the rest so that they'll build what is better than the original monopolist.

Even DeeOne has started going out just because he wants to be like VDM, the monopolist — the voice of the voiceless.

geedot:
Legendary iLegend. I beg to differ with the bolded. I think the hardest part of trading is what happens after the trade is on.

It's much more easier to become mechanical with entries, limit orders can easily get rid of fear of missing out. But, you see that floating profit and loss is the hardest part, at least for me.

You wait too long, price reverses abruptly back to your entry, you close too early, price keep ripping towards your predicted direction. Both scenarios are caused by greed, so how do you measure or gauge greed? I think this is harder on the trader's psychology compared to FOMO in my opinion.

Thank God it's Friday btw.
I won't fault your take if you're referring to scalping or day-trading. It requires lots of technicalities and emotional battles.

But when it comes to a trade you'll leave for some days, weeks or months, entry is major.

boss, please can I buy some ETH now? I want to hold it till next year.
$3.7k to 3.5k is when to buy. If you can't wait, then 3.8k isn't bad.

Hold till next year? That'll be bear market. By January or February next year, all the coins will start dumping.

I'd advise you study the 4-year cycle to understand it better.

i would say a good strategy rather than a good entry
I get your point, but 90% of your success is your entry. Strategy is for traders and even with that, your entry is still 90% the most important. Why? It takes discipline, patience, psychology to wait for a good entry. Most people can't wait for A+ setup.

Someone who bought BTC at $0.1 (good entry) doesn't need any strategy other than to sleep and smile for the rest of his life. Strategy is for late-comers.

Watch this 25 minute and come back to deliver a short lecture titled: Good Entry Vs Strategy.

As the CEO of OF, I have the right to post as many images as I want. grin

In the first picture below, take a look at the white line. That parallel channel has never been broken since 2022. Any day it breaks on the one-week time frame, the cycle is over. In other words, the moment a weekly candle closes below it, the cycle ends.

The second image is a zoomed-in version. It has three lines: the first line, the middle dotted line, and the last line. The first line is at $109,000, the middle dotted line is at $105,000, and the last line is at $100,000.

You can also look down to the yellow line below, which sits around $92,000–$93,000 or worse, 89k, marking the CME gap.

A good entry isn’t where you’re guaranteed to win. It’s where losing costs the least and winning pays the best. Where a loss takes only a small bite from your account, but a win multiplies it significantly. It's called A or A+ setup.

Going through CoinMarketCap and I saw Pi coin at $0.26 and it made me remember Hamster and co.

Summary: If the buzz is too much, the crash will be too much too.

This doesn't mean it won't recover, it will, but only if the team is serious and Binance doesn't delist it.

There was a girl that used to trend called Kelly. Today, even when she posts, men no longer care. Her trend didn't come with substance.

Today, it's Peller and Geh Geh. I can guarantee you, 10 years from now, Peller will no longer trend, but VDM and Geh Geh will. Why?

Fundamentals+Substance.

Geh Geh may act unserious, but he's solving a problem by telling men not to SIMP. VDM too, at the mention of his name, scammers rush and pay up.

For Peller, he's just a meme coin and he can only stay relevant like Doge coin if he's lucky and associated to a billionaire.

What am I trying to say? Don't marry the buzz, take profit before it burst. If you must marry, let there be fundamental + substance and maybe, buzz.

Why Monaco?!.

Why can't he go to Calabar, Enugu or Akwa ibom to rest?

Why the obsession with Europe?.
8 Reason for Going to Monaco

1. Peace of mind
2. Chances to being kidnapped is low and if it does happen in Monaco, the kidnapper will be easily tracked and no ransome will be paid

3. If he gets kidnapped in Nigeria, it'll be hard to track and at least, 1 billion will be paid and he might still not make it out alive
4. In Monaco, he can walk on the street freely and there will no single disturbance and no almajiri will flock him for financial assistance. Most might not even recognize him, unlike Nigeria

5. His flight ticket is cheaper than the money he'll pay 20 bodyguards in Cross River for protection, yet he won't have freedom to walk around as he would in Monaco.
6. While watching football in his hotel room in Cross Rivers, there will be at least 3 power outages, but in Monaco, it'll hardly happen.

7. In Monaco, he'll network with foreigners who might come to Nigeria to invest
8. A rich man deserves to taste different soup, if you know what I mean — ask Ned Nwoko

The list is endless. This is why we should hold our politicians accounted to make Nigeria great.

We retested the B+ setup at 111k. For those who have 3 accounts, it's a buy with money you can lose. A setup is 100k-99k and A+ setup is 93-89k.

The reason you should buy B+ setup is because no one is a magician. Going for A or A+ setup is a probability of 50/50.

In our 3 previous cycles, 2 stopped at B+ before pump to top and only 1, being 2013, went to A setup and almost A+.

So, this B+ is a buy, but still have money incase of necessity.

This industry deals on probability, not certainty.

@GovernmentAgent, this video is for you. Listen to it 3 times. They took everything Andrew Tate owned, but couldn't take his crypto on cold and hot storage.

This is to say, if you like, build a brewing company with legit money, if the government wants to take it, they will.

They'll first revoke your land ownership like Wike usually does, then demolish the site of your company. You'll go to court, but they'll tell the judge what to rule, else he loses his position.

Even Fubara who's a government man, they took him out of office for 6 months let alone you who is just an ordinary agent. cheesy

I'm in support of owning businesses offline, especially agro business and factories, but just know that the government indirectly owns it — including your house. Just pray they don't see you as a threat.

The government can accuse you of fraud that you're not even involved in just to tarnish your image and seize your (their) properties. Even if you're innocent, people's perspective of you will change just like Mopha, BLord, and co. The government controls the media and their narratives always spread faster and wider.

So, be wise and embrace crypto. If you're afraid of BTC collapsing, you should also be afraid of fiat currency collapsing like Zimbabwe, Venezuela and co. They rose again right? That is how BTC will also rise and and become stronger than fiat.

The reason we use Nairaland today, despite how archaic and outdated it is, is because we all (the users) agreed it contains value, educative posts and encourages exchange of knowledge.

It's been long I heard you complain or attack BTC. In 2026 bear market, when BTC will dump to $45k or $35k, I know you'll come out to warn us that it's going to zero. grin grin

The government is paying hungry Nigerians to push propaganda that BTC is evil and will crash to make us go back to working like slaves and earning less than 70k as salary so that we can be easily controlled during election with 5k Naira. It's too late, dear GovernmentAgent.

I'm not a members of any of these 3 big tribes, but please, Igbos, let's have a discussion.

Isn't it too much? You guys are the smartest in Nigeria in anything regarding business and technology and I love you for this.

In fact, I'm proud sharing the same country as you, but you see "tarnishing our image as a nation" you people are also the best.

My love for you has switched to 50/50 or 40/60. Though, you're still better than Fulanis that I have 0/100 love for because of how they kpai Nigerians without remorse and are untouchable.

Please, our lovely Igbos, we appreciate your greatness in other spheres of life, but you see this one, can you guys please change? Yes, it's not only you, but you do 90% of it.

Just the same way business and technological invention/innovations in Nigeria is not only you, but we all know you control 90% as well — that shows how smart Igbos are. You never carry last in whatever you put your mind to do, be it good or evil.

I'm just pleading that you guys should forgive us — this drug business has really ruined the reputation of Nigeria even before fraud became common to most youths. It's not only the Igbos that do it, but you're unapologetically first class.

Not all of you though, so I can't generalize, but una carry first for this business and it's affecting us as a nation.

"Remember, one day, someone will appreciate your stubbornness that everyone used to despise — by then, it'll be called conviction, dedication and commitment. They'll use it as motivation, hence, don't quit." Joe Clef

Davido's father used to despise his son David going into music, but today, David is the reason we know the Adeleke's family and his influence helped his uncle become a governor.

iShowSpeed's mom used to despise his son streaming, but today, she's so happy.

There is a certain Crypto billionaire that started in 2012 and the family hated his dedication at mining and always preaching about crypto, but today, they're proud of him.

So, have some conviction at what you do and just do it even if people despise it.

If a coach makes a mistake in substitution and his team wins, every analyst will say he's visionary, but if that same substitution led to them losing, they'll say he's a terrible tactician and should be sacked.

Summary: Just stubbornly succeed at whatever you do and watch everyone use you as a point of motivation and an example to the coming generation on the power of focus and determination.

Now, for the lucky ones, there is a way you can search for coins that qualified for this kind of trade on Tradingview. I'll share it in the TG group if I don't forget. Also, reverse of this method is used to identify OG coins to short after the cycle has topped.

I know newbies love meme and new coins, but if you master how to trade old and trusted coins, you'll make more money or at least, you'll have peace of mind while making some money.

If you look at the AVAX image below, you'll see an opportunity there. It's a coin that has experienced at least 1 cycle and it almost touched the lower BB in 1 month TF at $14 this year. That was a great opportunity to monitor it at about $9, but sadly, it didn't go that low to touch the band just like Solana.

The reason I'm sharing this strategy is because you'll need it next cycle. The reason I like it is because it only works on old coins that have liquidity and have been tested and trusted.

This means you'll hardly lose your money like Luna, which was a new coin then. Also, make sure the project team of the old coin you're buying are working to improve it, not an abandoned project that'll soon be delisted.
