True words! I foresee some nice chemistry between Ambode and Amosun though.Fashola was a stubborn man so the chemistry wasn't really smooth especially when Lagos and Ogun state were dragging the ownership of Ode Omi.Ambode is calmer even though he's more concerned about his Canon Camera than any other thing grin. That's our own "Becky Oloye" grin grin cheesy

Don't put words into my mouth. I never said Yoruba history was wrong neither did I re-write Yoruba history. Just like other people pointed out to the op certain words which were not right, so did I. You took it out of proportion to overreact rather than do research for yourself to see if it was true or not.

I find it funny that you keep stylishly replying or dodging the fact that I keep posing at you: the first Ogiso of Bini preceding Oba Eweka was Ogiso Oba godo.
No one needs to put words in your mouth......you're doing a goddam jobof incriminating yourself by uttering ignorant remarks about subjects beyond your understanding.

When a BINI person wants to discuss with Yoruba about the term "oba"....we'll be here. Not with the likes of Esan and igbos who do not understand the complexities of Yoruba-Bini.

Lmao. Sona was born and raised in London. The guy just speaks Yoruba fluently, I guess that's why he decided to do Afrobeats. But I do agree with you that Afrobeat is the most annoying genre of music out there cos they just make noise most of the time and they all sound the same. But I won't lie, some of the tunes are decent. I like Dbanj, Burna boy, Davido, and a few decent tunes from Wizkid. 9ice also used to be decent back in the day, especially that "Street Credibility" tune. And MayD is also decent.

What do you think about this tune by Davido? (though "Gobe" is my all time favourite tune by Davido lol).

Wizkidd had so much potential remaking Fela's song, but he came out with crap..... feraris ferashi. crap.

So much potential..... he had the beat, the video and the history (fela).

i love this thread, well done ilekeh.

We Yoruba from now on need to live and build ourselves as though we are the only ones in our country. We need to reorient our people to now embrace diligence in the way we have never seen before, occupy various institutions and get prepared for any eventuality so when the separation comes, we would be fully prepared and thrive to the envy of great nations. Thank God we have some level of unity and peace already.

Maybe we need a purely Odua media even, that reorients and preaches proper values to our people. We can keep one Nigeria in our left hands while we work towards a great Odua republic.
Sorry I'm just seeing this post.

Well done to EVERYBODY.

And you are correct in your assertion. We need a media solely for yoruba values. Pass the word around. Enough with this "One Nigeria" nonsense.

First, Oh well, it is a glad thing that you accept you are tribalist. You should probably work on your mindset then.

Secondly, you are a mother of many children I suppose, and you still do not know how to comport yourself as a mature adult mother with responsibility.

Finally, I do not understand the whole talk about my being a mod. I posted something many Binis believe themselves and you and your cohorts accused me of being an ignorant moderator for saying something many Binis/Edos believe themselves. Then I provided proof and you are still talking about moderating instead of providing rebuttal to the fact that the first Ogiso of Bini was Ogiso Oba godo. I am waiting patiently for your rebuttal.
Yes, i'm a mother of 20 chudren. And since when should that stop me from making their yoruba interest more important than the sham called Nigeria interest.

So when I see fellow tribalist like yourself, I will call you out when you try to re-write an history that is not yours.

How can someone as big as yourself use blogs to claim that Yoruba history is wrong? Shame no dey kash you?

And you better tell that cheerleader of yours to bite dust.

I hate nobody and I only correct wrong impressions. Some of my very good friends here in the states are Yorubas.

IlekeHD, take a good look at yourself. You throw accusations at another person yet you are the number 1 anti-Igbo bigot known all over this website. You have made a name for yourself as an anti-Igbo bigot not in one section but across all sections on this website. Who does not know you to tribalize almost every thread on nairaland with your tribalistic attitude. You find it easy to denigrate other lands and people but cry the loudest when things are said about your tribe. You are very tribalistic and have demonstrated effortlessly times without number the inability to reason clearly without tribalistic subjectivity.

Take off the specks in your eyes before you feel 'moral' enough to take off the specks off someone else's eyes.
I know I'm a tribalist...Yoruba interest over others......I admit it and I know it. That's why I'm not a mod.

You were the same tribalistic bigot before you become a mod and you still are. You're a mod and you still don't know how to act.

Lol. I do not hate Yorubas neither do I see any correction anywhere as you have mentioned. My current project partner in school here in the US is Yoruba. On the other hand, all I see are people who are expressing shock at something that goes against their very belief they have been ingrained with since childhood. Don't claim victory when there was not an inch of victory won so far.

You were initially shocked to find out that a word which you grew up to believe was Yoruba could actually be Bini, and you were all over the place only to start realizing that it could be true after all.

I am expecting your rebuttal to Bini writer's post. Making blanket statements do not suffice as 'victory'. I expect counter-evidence from you. The first Ogiso of Bini was Ogiso Oba godo (meaning high king) and this long preceded Oba Eweka who is related to the Yoruba monarchy.

Moreover, I am not re-writing Yoruba history. I am only presenting the Bini/Edo mythology on the origin of 'oba'. cheesy
You do not hate Yoruba but going through your post history, you're as anti-Yoruba as pazienza. That's your headache.

But coming on a public forum with half-arsed knowledge of Yoruba culture complexities is insulting. And then to argue with Yorubas about their own history until you cowardly backtracked is even more insulting.

You even claimed that "omo" is not a Yoruba word. Are you okay? The Bini guy you keep harping on is Esan, but I fear is an igbo tout claiming bini.

I did before. In case you still need it, here it is again.

Shouldn't you be fighting Edos for insisting that Oba is an Edo word rather than debating this with Igbos? Isn't it your greatest folly to be doing this? undecided undecided
You posted a source from some blog and then later retracted that YOUR claim is by someone who is also as unsure as you and you expect anyone to take you serious?

If you're really looking for an education on Yoruba-Edo relationship, why not ask from both Yoruba and Edo?

You hate Yorubas. You tried to rw-write Yoruba history. Yorubas came and corrected You. EOD.

Ileke, you are in no position to accuse someone of being a tribalist.

Oba being an Edo word is an old argument that will rage on forever between Yorubas and Edos.

But to a neutral like an Igbo, it's not that hard to see that Oba is an Edo word. Though I don't expect Yorubas to accept that.
LMAO.....anyone that takes this igbo tout serious is on a long thing.

Show us a verifiable source. Simple.

When they close their 2x2 shops in the SW.

When they leave akure, lagos, ogun, ondo and ekiti states etc

When they tell the hausas/fulanis to leave their land

When they stop kissing fulani azz

When they stop using Nigerian passports

When their leaders and celebrities clamor for biafra
