I dont watch a lot of Forest matches but 130m for a DM is high

Only polished, finished product attackers (AM wingers and strikers) who would be in Balon dor conversions should be going for that
£107m Enzo Fernandes
£115m Moises Caicedo
£105m Declan Rice.

Which of these players is AM, RW/LW or ST?

This is the market rate for elite midfielders.

130m better be getting you a match winner

If Anderson is 130m how much will Bruno go for
Bruno is 31. He has 12-18 months left at elite level. Bruno cannot be more than £30m

Anderson is 22. There’s a solid 10 years left in his belly to compete at elite level.

Rice was £105m last 3 years, right?

Anderson completely murks Declan Rice that Arsenal coughed £105m to sign 3 years ago.

If you add inflation and Elliot’s high ceiling, how much do you think he’s worth in 2026?

He’s more than worth the amount. We have seen him outplay £105m Declan Rice at the World Cup. He’s young, versatile with an incredible high ceiling.

Jason Wilcox & Omar Berrada not even bidding for him is a sham after telling everyone he’s United’s main priority for 9 months.

United won’t win anything for another 5 years.

The point stated is why FG police is ineffective an why STate police will be a better option. I am asking you if you trust Igboho and that he cannot be bought okay (even though we have seen all the Gani Adams become money grabbers) but what of the thousand of people Igboho will employ that do not share his DNA nor conviction

The state police will only have people local to the state. Or do you think Oyo state police will be hiring from Yobe or Yobe indigenes? I don't think so

State police will just be an official and legalized Amotekun etc which has some gains. Local people actually trust Amotekun more than the NPF
The State Police will have the same corrupt Police Officers already residing in the States. It’s like reshuffling deck chairs on the Titanic - it’s not going to stop the ship from sinking.

Deep-rooted corruption, extortion, collusion with criminals, poor accountability, and a culture that often prioritizes personal gain over public service are well-documented problems that will never go away because of State Police.

I agree with your point that people actually trust Amotekun.

Amotekun has terrain knowledge, community integration, language/cultural familiarity, and intrinsic motivation tied to protecting their own homes. It’s a more valid strengths than State Police.

A Private Security Network like TANTITA have shown tactical successes in intelligence gathering, rapid response, and curbing rural crimes where formal police are absent or distrusted.

Performance-based contracts with harsh penalties would definitively align incentives. Residency in the protected area also adds skin in the game. NPF have failed Nigerians - I don’t trust them at all(State or Federal).

There is no organization that is immune from corruption, Even US armies sellout. Even if Igboho is too holy to be corrupted, what of the thousands under him, what will stop them from selling ammunitions to criminals like the NPF you reported
If the concern is that some officers collect ransom-related kickbacks, why would Nigerians assume Igboho security networks would be immune to the same incentives? Corruption is not solved merely by changing who carries the gun. Its just decentralized

A state force will also have a local unit. E.g Amotekun in Ibadan have branches in Ogbomoso which report upwards to the state HQ, State police in Epe, Ikorodu report upwards to Ikeja HQ

Tompolo operates in a highly specific environment. Waterways an oil infrastructure are fixed assets with relatively defined geographic boundaries. Forests and rural territories are fundamentally different. Kidnappers, bandits, and insurgents can relocate, blend into civilian populations, cross state boundaries, and adapt their tactics.

In most cases for Igboho unless you find people armed, you cannot know their intention unless you want to chase away every Fulani in SW, even at that, there is no physical feature that identifies a Fulani from a Yoruba man. This normal looking man at 3pm can turn into a bandit by 6pm

Finally while giving individuals seems like a goo idea for now, then we are turning them into strongmen that might end up being bigger than the state

At this point I think we should explore every option, National, State, Private and individuals being armed as well. If over time we are able to curb the insecurity then we relegate the Igboho styled security (That is if they willl go quietly)
Igboho has a stake in the eternal peace of his region. He’s been doing it without payment for years. A Fulani Police Officer residing in Fiditi(Oyo State) has no stake for peace to reign in Oyo State . His only motivation for doing the job is his salary. He will think twice before firing at his own people that are kidnappers.

Igboho has promised to personally murder any Yoruba man involved in kidnapping in his region. His motivation isn’t money. This is why the idea of State Police is farcical. A lot of Nigerians think State Police would only have officers of Yoruba ethnicity in Yoruba state and Igbo officers in Igbo state.

It is not going to work that way.

The NPF is inadequate under the FG that is why every state should build their own security plan and how to secure themselves. It doesnt make sense that a Taraba man is in charge of security in Oyo where he doesnt know them nor understand them

Security is local, every community will know their land better and the strangers fomenting trouble

How many times have we heard an incident in Enugu/Benue/Jos ongoing while the governor and local officials are calling the area commander or IG in Abuja to place orders for reinforcement and ignored for hours

Now you dont have to call Abuja the reinforcement you need is in your reach. In your own state
You did not address the corruption part.

State forces alone are insufficient for the terrain and threat volume, local knowledge matters, and tying money to results is better than open-ended spending.

Tompolo-style pragmatism has delivered massive gains in one context. Scaling a results-based private security approach region-by-region for human security is a better proposition to people tired of ineffective bureaucracy and rising body counts.

When citizens believe(with evidence) that police at checkpoints are collecting percentages from ransom money (in one reported case, ~5% across multiple points, with kidnappers accepting the shortfall because they “understood”), it destroys any remaining trust in state actors.

That particular anecdote is not isolated. Decades of reporting from victims, human rights organizations, local media, and even official inquiries have documented patterns of police and security force involvement in kidnapping rackets, checkpoint extortion, collusion with bandits, and ransom facilitation across Nigeria.

Your State Police & the kidnappers/bandits operate beneficially in the same criminal ecosystem. State Police and Military simply cannot effectively cover Nigeria’s vast rainforests in the South or savannah/forest mosaics in the North. Local knowledge gives an edge that centralized forces lack.

Results should trump ideology or rigid bureaucracy.

If your fear is elections, why cant thy use Sunday Igboho network for election mayhem in your proposal? Igboho is not new to this, he actually came into prominence by being a political thug for Ladoja

Placing the security of an entire state or subregion in the hand of one man has the potential to go very wrong
How many times have you seen State Governors bribing Tompolo to cause election mayhem?

N4 billion/month puts him above the pay grade of any state governor.

Placing the security of the subregion in the hand of NPF has been wrong for 6 decades. The Police can’t protect you in any part of Nigeria. There’s a capacity gap - they are not even enough to police the vast area of forests in each state.

NPF is also very corrupt. They are in cahoots with several kidnapping groups. They rent their guns, uniform, etc to the kidnappers. Creating State Police will not remove the relationship between Police officers and bandits, you are only localizing the corruption.

State police is now here. Let governors get to work. No more excuses
State Police won’t work. It will only enable the State Governors to unleash mayhem on their political rivals during election cycles. The Governors will become the employer of State Police(salaries, appointments, etc). It will get dangerous.

What SW Governors should do is give Sunday Igboho a security contract(year on year) based on performance metric. The security network will cover all the SW states and protect the forests.

Tompolo has a similar contract in the creeks of the SS region covering all the oil pipelines from Rivers State to Ondo State. The FG sends N48 billion cheque to Tompolo annually and he’s been able to reduce oil theft and bunkering by 90%.

If FG can protect oil pipelines, SW governors should also be able to protect precious lives in the SW. TANTITA(Tompolo’s security network) has some of the best security gadgets in the entire West Africa(gunships, choppers, speed boats with full artillery).

The country you are born in also plays a major role in whether top clubs even notice you and whether you get access to elite leagues. If Ronaldo had been born in Panama instead of Brazil and still became a footballer, chances are he would have spent years grinding through lower divisions before getting a shot at the top if he made it there at all.

You were the one acting as if being Brazilian had no impact on his club career, when in reality Brazils footballing reputation and scouting network gave him opportunities that players from less prominent football nations rarely get.

Haaland was born in England
What about

-George Weah
-Pavel Nedved
-Hristo Stoichkov
-Andriy Schevchenko

All these players(Ballon d’Or winners) were born in the trenches of obscure countries but because of club football, they are all global icons today.

Being born in a big football country definitely helps but it doesn’t close the door completely for players born in small football countries to feature for top club sides.

Kikelomogbenga:
How many players like George Weah have come out of Libya since then?

The probability of Ronaldo becoming a fisherman rather than a footballer if he had been born in Panama is 100 to 1.
You are missing the point.

Football talent is distributed across the planet, but opportunity is not. Whether a player gets a realistic chance to win a World Cup depends critically on:

- Where their mother gave birth.
- The strength, infrastructure, coaching, and resources of the country’s football federation.
- The Squad Depth.

Club football gives football talents more mobility. Even if a player is born in the trenches of Ajegunle, club scouts would find him and get him a transfer to play in big clubs that can win things. International football does not allow such an elbow room. Club football offers a clearer merit-based escape hatch.

If you were born in India, you will not smell a World Cup tournament even if you score 1000 goals every season in your club. Look at Erling Haaland for instance. It’s his first international football tournament at 25. If he was born in France or Argentina, he would have won a WC or Copa America or Euros by age 19 at the very least.

He won’t win a World Cup but he would still score 47 goals in 49 apps for Barcelona at the age of 20. His Brazilian nationality played no role in achieving that feat.

R9 didn’t even win the league in 96/97 neither did he win the CL - but the entire planet still awarded him with Ballon d’Or(the youngest ever winner).

You can't use stats favorably to win a R9 vs Mbappe argument cos Mbappe has had numerous 30+ goals season and multiple 40+ goals seasons too. Stat-wise, Mbappe beats R9 for sure and he is still 27 years, with maybe at least 5-6 more top-level seasons to come. You can use maybe "eye test", "aura", "football being easier now" points, but going with stats (and achievements), the earlier argument of Mbappe >> R9, Henry, Ronaldinho is valid. Like you can project Mbappe to end his career with almost 30 World Cup goals if he plays 2 more tournaments, and such predictions would seem realistic.
Mbappe doesn’t beat R9 in anything.

Mbappe hasn’t even won the CL in this era and he’s already 27. Mbappe benefits from a nationality lottery of being born in France.

If he was born in Yaoundé, I doubt he would have played in any WC, let alone win one. The only reason you people rate Mbappe is because of his nationality - which is just a lottery.

Where a pregnant woman decides to have a baby boy should not determine greatness. I don’t really rate all these national team competitions. It’s a farce. The World Cup is almost 100 years of age and ONLY 8 countries have won it.

Long story short, you have to be born in a footballing powerhouse country to be able to win the World Cup. If Pele(as talented as he is) was born in India, he would never have gone to a World Cup, never mind winning one.

Baba he didn't win a league title until he was 26. He only won two league titles and around five major club trophies throughout his entire career. Without his World Cup title and the performances that came with it his standing in football history would below that of Ronaldinho, Zidane and others. The foundation of his GOAT level reputation is overwhelmingly built on what he achieved and how he performed on the World Cup stage. How exactly is this controversial or even debatable.
Nobody gave any attention to winning trophies over individual performance in the 90s.

R9 was phenomenal.

This was R9 casually dropping prime CR7/LM10 numbers at the age of 20 in La Liga.

47 goals, 13 assists in 49 apps.

Mbappe would tear both ACLs to achieve this.

Mbappe already played 2 world cup finals same with R9 and can potentially play 2 more

While R9 was way more talented, his body broke earlier in life

Longevity is where Messi and CR7 beats many of these older players. Messi is 39 CR7 is 41. At those ages most of the older generations superstars have long forgotten football and looked like Mr Ibu

Ronaldinho was elite for less than 5 seasons
Longevity is not beans. It’s the most important factor in this GOAT debate.

However, being the best player in the world at some point is the easiest part. Staying on top for close to 20 years is the hardest part. Had R10 & R9 stayed on top for 10 years or more, their names would be in the GOAT debates more often.

Ronaldinho only scored 33 goals for Brazil.
Ronaldo De Lima scored 62 goals for Brazil.

Cristiano has scored 145 goals for Portugal.
In other words, if you add up the 2Rs career for their national teams, they have scored way less than Cristiano.
