Many thanks sis. I kuku do that. Blend and shred vegetables chicken and potatoes and use as sauce for the pasta. We have picked up a bit but still won't have breakfast. I'm graeful

Just try to sneak in other foods into the pasta and you end up having varieties.

Pasta bolognese, jambalaya pasta..

on a serious note, you can add foods like carrot, peas, eggs etc into the pasta so it becomes more nutritous

Rant time

I am angry with myself right now and I feel like spanking dd for falling off her push chair. I left her in her push chair in front of the tv to prepare her food (ignored the fact that she has learnt to stand in the pushchair). Saw her wriggling trying to get out quickly dashed into the kitchen and lo I heard a sound. Rushed back and saw her on the floor (the sight keeps bringing years to my eyes) I hurriedly picked her up with tears in my eyes pacified her, tried BF but she refused and gave her pcm. I feel horrible didn't take her to creche to keep an eye on her yet I failed. . . She settled not long after and slept briefly. She's back to being herself but I can't take my mind off the incident.

I think she likes pasta......and me I'm antiproceased food. Try to feed at least once a day.

Dont feel too bad. Its because you havent discovered what she really likes.
My ds was like that too but since i discovered what he liked majorly, that was what i kept giving him o till much later.
first was apple puree (1 apple) then banana puree.(1 banana). Those two foods, he ate everyday for 5 good months. All other foods i tried including formula was just by luck and plenty prayer. Imagine being at work and receiving phone call almost every time, 'your son isn't taking his food o'. I just consoled myself that fruits too is a kind of food.

When he was about clocking 1yr, his eating improved a little and now at 18months, he will throw tantrums if i dont allow him feed himself.

it will get better, keep trying.

I learnt it not so good washing with soap especially after child birth. Can't remember why but has to do with altering the pH of the vj. If you can avoid soap better safe

Thanks for the response. Before now, we were feeding at least every 3 hrs now we don't even have our first meal till around noon and it's with struggle and singing. I don't have luxury of time for constant BF. Rejects formula too

I recently even tried august secret, it was rejected been trying everyday since Thursday also as morsel she no gree. I know it's a phase just can't help worrying

That 2-3 morsels is still ok per feeding cos their stomach is still small in size. Just increase the number of times she feeds.
If you have discovered what she actually eats readily without hassles, keep giving her that. When she's less hungry, you can playfully try other foods.

Prep method.
Just mix little quantity with cold water into paste then allow it to cook well that's all.

How can I help my LO drink water? We have never had issues with water but lately she spits water out as soon as it enters her mouth. Tried us8ng soppy cup, open cup, bottle even spoon yet she won't swallow even warm ad RT water.

Good thing you went to the clinic. How did the test go?
I think you should get the G.V in any pharmacy. Am aware of 2 types: GV paint and in spirit. Just tell them you want the one in spirit and not paint.

Well it's not abnormal for an ebf baby to poo after feeding. The only downside is that the baby isn't retaining nutrients so may not be chubby but healthy oh YES!

Get him a visa and go with him that can be arranged between now and November.
On a lighter note, try introducing the food gradually especially when he is hungry. You can try feeding milk with syringe and let someone other than you do it with lots of singing and words of encouragement.
Also try feeding at different temperatures. When my lo turns her food down, I feed her with my hand even semi-solids as puree and pap and have her play with the spoon. It's messy but gets some into her month.

Hello mamas please help me. I have been exclusively breastfeeding my 4 months old LO. I'm due to travel for 2 weeks in November so I started by introducing him to formula, but he won't even suck. When he manages to take just a tiny bit, he starts throwing up everything in his tummy. I first thought it was the brand of formula I gave him, but he has done the same even after changing from sma to cow and gate and enfamil. He doesn't even suck expressed breast milk. I have also bought him some already made puree and pudding, that are age appropriate but he still throws up heavily once the spoon touches his mouth. Please help me as I must make this trip and I can't take him along because he doesn't have a visa. I would appreciate your kind inputs. Thank you.

The hardness I think is normal. The incision site will still be numb for a while. For the pus, are you still taking your antibiotics? You can switch to zinnat and take for 7 days. It's the best. I don't encourage gambling with antibiotics most of the generic isn't as effective as gsk brand.
Immediately after having a bath pat dry the incision site properly and paint with genital violet in spirit (G.V in spirit). Alternatively you can cover the incision site with plastic bag or waterproof plaster to have a bath.
Mostly importantly don't bend or put any form of strain on the site.

I started bathing 6th day post surgery and it seems it didnt go down well with the site.i.e it started hurting afresh and its hard to the touch.
Pls any idea on how to manage it to avoid infection? Ive been cleaning with cotton wool and spirit.

As stated by other mamas, she's too young for pap. Let someone else feed her also trying using syringe or a spoon. Beside make feeding time interesting, sing to her, talk to her or make it over tv. Also continue expressing at work and putting to feed while home to increase milk supply. Put your mind at rest, try different temperatures of feed too. Something will work. All the best

My baby is 11 weeks old, and I resume work by next week.
she is refusing as in rejecting (fighting and crying) infant formula, which she has been taking since a day after birth.
She started by gradually reducing her intake, and now stopped completely. And for the first time since she was born, I am exclusively breastfeeding ( the milk doesn't even flow like plenty).

I have tried multivitamin, starving her for a period before giving the formula (SMA GOLD), and she still does not even try to suck the feeder.

Problem is I resume work in a week, I will be at least 9 hours away.
Nothing has worried us (me and hubby) this much since we had her (Not even when she didn't poop for 8 days, or when she was given pentavalent vaccine).

Now my mum is suggesting dawa or pap, hubby no want even hear am.

Plz help a new and first time mum out.

If you have sudocrem use it religiously with every change of nappy. It will clear in no time.

Or You may be able to ask them to put it in the hotel kitchen frigde, u may be lucky as people seem to be nicer to requests involving babies just pack it well in as good container that seals well and pop it into a good zip lock bag. If they have a fridge or agree to store it for you. you can make your own food from home, freeze in small single portion containers and travel with it in a freezer bag.
When you get to the hotel put everything in the fridge.

When you want to feed, defrost and then use hot water to warm up. As Akorkor said get a small travel kettle and a small bowl to pour the water into before you put thefood to warm up.

You can also take things like banana and avocado which can be easy to make on the go. You can mix this with a spoon or 2 of baby rice to bulk it up.

You can buy eggs at your location and boil in thr kettle and mash with the avocado or with some milk.

You can also take potatoes and boil in the kettle as well. Keep the skin on When boiling in the kettle

To use the kettle to boil food, add water with the potato or egg, boil it once, let it sit in the hot water for like 5 mins, remove about half the water, add more cold water and repeat a few more times. Eggs will take at least 2 boils to ensure it is hard boiled, for potatoes ensure it is a bit small. You will need to boil at least 3 or 4 times to cook thoroughly.

Or you can boil the potato from home with skin on. Put in the fridge and to warm up just pop it in the kettle and boil a couple of times.

Getting proper jar foods does help. You should be able to get in a good supermarket . Sorry I don't know which ones, I am sure other mamas will assist.

Depends on hotel. Buy your bottled water , use room kettle (If provided ) and boil water for pap and formula. If there's no kettle, then get yourself one of those handy electric water boiler.

Solids?eat from hotel menu especially if it's a la carte or find a decent eatery or restaurant around. Make sure the food is served hot and fresh (to keep away germs) then blow cold for baby.

Purees? Lots of Gerber and Heinz packaged purees on the shelves of most supermarkets. Ready to eat. Check for the expiry dates.

Mama's that have travelled for days with babies 6 months upward, please how did you handle their food?
We will be travelling for a function and staying in the hotel and am trying to figure out how to make and feed LO. LO doesn't take cereal so it makes it difficult, formula is sometimes but does well with purees, solids and pap which will be difficult to prepare.


Secondly, where can o get jar food 7m+ in Lagos? Most store stocked up purees and porridge I need proper food.

You are blessed your baby will even take 150ml. My LO suddenly stopped taking cereal and will only take a little pap less than 50ml. Out of food options. She takes a bit of everything after a regular morsel of swallow she's done. The only thing she took well were jar foods which am now out of stock and don't intend buying more....e too cost. Thinking of starting her on multivitamins to up her intake

You can use breast milk provided LO will finish the food at once. I haven't used breast milk to prepare any cereal got those that require just water but use BM to prepare puree

Don't rub. If it becomes swollen place an ice pack over it. Even the use of paracetamol is gradually being discouraged something that has to do it the paracetamol interfering with the vaccine. Well except it is necessary.

If it states up to one year, then I think it's suitable. And also it suitable up till 12 years so I assume it's for children
