Rlst84sale:
I would not be surprised if we get to find out that EloSela is one white british attemting to neutralize people's comment/reaction to that incident. Had it been someone like Mr Omotade voiced out in Spain the other time we wouldn't have lost a fellow Nigerian. I have witnessed all sorts of ineqalities in the way Africans are treated aboard all these mega airlines. There was even a time Nigerians abroad had to petition UN on a similar facts, while not in support of anyone engaging in acts that warrants deportation, however, as long as we don't speak up knowing that most of African governments officials are figure heads uncle Toms, African will contnue suffering in the hands of Europeans. Let British legal system practice what they preach, Akintoade was not totally wrong had it been something had gone wrong and that guy eventually died, your leaders would certainly do nothing. I commend people like Akintade who speak up to see that fellow men are not murdered under pretence of your so called British police duty. BA just like Iberia would not just earn my business untill they change and I will let people around me be aware of them. It's that simple.
Your comments are quite strong. I have always flown BA and have NOT been maltreated in any way. If you want to take your business elsewhere, that is fine. It is a free world and you have a choice where you spend your money.

I am NOT saying our people should be treated roughly, however, people will treat you the way you want to be treated. If you respect yourself, you will be respected where ever you go, anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, Nigerians have not been known to behave in the most rational way at times. God forbid, if i was to be deported, i wont go about shouting and drawing attention to myself. The guy obviously didnt want to go back. Maybe he knew that the "punishment" back home would be worse. That is another story. I don't know the full story of his deportation. He may have overstayed and was caught or committed a crime, and upon release, was deported, we don't know. The british legal system is not the role model for legal practice, however, they try to be fair and tough at the same time.

The moral of the story is this, when you go to another country, behave yourself, obey the law and you will be fine. Not every country is lawless like ours.

Human nature is interesting isn't it? undecided

Let's set another scenario, If lots of people boycott to the stage BA decides not to fly to Nigeria again due to lack of business activity and they lose customers to competitors who can then set price and tougher restrictions, we will still complain won't we? Do people think KLM, Luftansa and those other flights are really better? shocked When i want to go to Lagos, why should i spend 9 to 10 hours or more on a 6 hour standard flight? What is the economic sense in that? Virgin Nigeria will probably love to pack us up in those Jumbo planes for all they care as it is more cost effective for them.

It is not that BA refused to carry most of the passengers on board, only the one involved in the incident. Someone asked why deportees are not transported separately, well, that is not exactly what tax payers monies are meant for. They may have been high handed but that is nothing compared to the trouble we cause by ourselves. We can air grievances in more respectful ways and through appropriate channels and should stop behaving like agberos and pepper sellers all the time.

If Nigerians, want an airline for Nigeria and by Nigerians, then set up one. Personally, I will not patronise such a flight until it has been flying successfully for at least 5 years.

I agree with RichyBlack.

Who do Nigerians at home think they are kidding by tax evasion? shocked No wonder they jump at the first opportunity to go "abroad" and live a "better" life.

Nigerians in the UK are NOT necessarily stingy. Some just realised they MUST pay the same bills they have learned to avoid back home. It is interesting that most people complain of stinginess when "brother or sister" can no longer satisfy their insatiable desires grin

I used to enjoy The Blair and Hague clashes the most. William Hague was a brilliant opposition leader. Shame he was in the wrong party or rather, Tony stood up to him more. His wit has been unsurpassed. I really miss William Hague. I couldn't believe Ian Duncan Smith. He was so boring, even his party had no confidence in him, shame because he is a likable fellow but no charisma.

I tend to watch Question time when i have the time these days.

4play, once again, mind your own business. this is an in-house thing. angry

elder,

Look, we can play the "total football" brand from now till thy kingdom come. What people will look at is what we achieved at the end of the day. This season is particularly painful, because we had it all in our sights, but came up short. Yes, we had a run of serious bad luck, but when are we going to actually admit to sometimes underperforming in key games. No body in their right minds will want to watch Chelsea or Liverppol play, long balls all the time and they are as boring as Avam Grant shocked. Gosh I have never seen that man smile. I thought maybe something was wrong with his cheek bones the first few times i saw him shocked.

Anyway, i am happy we play nice football. But nice football coupled with empty trophy room for 3 or 4 straight seasons will only lead disenchantment of fans. Even Spurs, down the road won the mickey mouse cup. After so long waiting, i thought they would do a parade at the end of the season grin.

I don't want to argue with you tonite. Goodnite we will continue later.

Gosh, this old thread, Vicjustice why?

Seriously, Vic, you have been found out. The best thing to do is just hold your hands up and admit your error. No one is error proof.

Remember your "brother or is it cousin" i correspond with, who you claim lives in Canada? Can you be bold to mention his name? I brought that up because it looks like you have lost all credibility. Such a shame as you started as so well to expose scammers but you are turning to be one yourself. If we are all proved wrong, i am sure we will apologise for any misunderstanding, i will, at least speaking for myself.

@eldee,

So, what do you suggest we do with the serial under performers? feed their fragile egos?

When United, Chelsea and even Liverpool buy players, most of the time they buy proven players. It is all well and good building a team, but in the current climate of football, every one wants overnight success, even Arsenal fans. We want people that will make an impact in one season not grooming them for another 3 seasons.

We sold Henry but never really replaced him with someone of equal or better talent. Look at where we are now. If we have the money, then we should be spending it. 2nd or 3rd position, never mind 4th is NOT good enough for a team in Arsenal's league. I hate to say it, I love Wenger with all my heart. But it looks like he may have taken us as far as he can in competitive football. We need different tactics and approach to games, although it seems only him and Fergie have jobs for life lipsrsealed

1. I'm actually mainly a Times guy when it comes to the UK.I almost never read the Mail,it feels like a paper for depressed people run by Prozac addicts.

2. I read mainly online-National Review,Weekly Standard and the Economist(I use the last as my screensaver).

3. The Tories' agenda often reflect many Nigerians' core beliefs-emphasis on low taxes, private enterprise and stronger moral values.
1. The times is a sensible paper. The daily mail is becoming more like the sun without page 3 girls.

2. So then, when are you going to use your face as your screensaver? Common you can't be that ugly grin

3. Tory emphasis on lowe taxes, does it really work? George Osborne says he will cut tax, so how and where will recoup the money from, it is sometimes a case of "rubbing petter to pay paul", privatisation has it's good and bad sides for individuals and economony but on the general scheme of things may be more positive. Moral values, i will agree with that.

RichyBlack and 4Play,

I understand what you are saying about tolerance levels and so on. However, we class ourselves as a religious and "moral" society. If we don't learn anything from religious or moral virtues, then what is the point?

Before, I came to the UK, I had a sense of frustration about series of issues and was disillusioned, prob like every other teenager but just didn't know how to channel my frustrations. I guess that is where the dulling of senses come in. After a while, things that shock, become everyday occurrences and complaining becomes more of a hassle than a solution.

My only problem with your explanations is that where do we fit in moral and religious views that we so believe in. As a religious person myself, if i lived by the tenets of my religion, i shouldn't have problems with most people or breaking the law deliberately. I don't have to go abroad to know that. My position is that too long have we neglected developing our selves mentally, materially etc such that some think going abroad will change their lives. If the quality of the immigrants coming into a country is poor, there will be a drop in service, and will also affect the economy. I still believe that some things are innate and and compassion is something we should learn from around us. There are people in Nigeria, who live better lives than some of the higher subset you guys are talking about. I think being good, kind, respectful, is also an extention to the kind of society will live in. Everyone knows that the Nigerian society is sick of all manners of evil. Both people make up the country and most of our so called leaders have been immigrants at some stages of their lives. What did they do with what they learned?

RichyBlack, you have to help me out here. I don't seem to understand most of what you typed.

You are only talking from a United States perspective, and i can't see the link between your comments and how people do or do not have compassion on a fellow citizen. You don't need to go abroad to learn that.

I am glad that Gilberto finally found where the back of the net is cheesy. It wasn't that difficult, was it then. wink

Hope we finish this season on a "high" and should be about 3 to 5 proven players from winning things again.

Memo to Wenger: we need a goalkeeper, no more german inefficiency. We also need a solid defender and a midfieder. Since Adebayor sometimes forgets to score in important games, we may want to buy a "reserve" striker.

Now, let the flushing out begin cool

I support Nwando for Family board if there is no moderator. She does gives sound advice.

I am not sure of culture or tribal sections. . . . .that will be similar to saying 4Him should moderate religion, or 4play to moderate politics, or jackal to moderate sports. They are all very passionate people on such issues and thereby may not be impartial to comments they don't like. A moderator should be that in every sense of the word "moderate".
