Rosyfina:'Protest vote' is the right word(added to my jargons). Most of the votes in the favour of the APC were disenchanted voices tired of Dickson. Sadly most non Bayelsans that of the APC extraction, refuse to acknowledge the support of pdp in the victory and rather give the credit to (Olsho)mole, who had no say. |
This will some way; somehow make its way to front page |
[quote author=imiski post=84208708]Aliabe was a preferred candidate to most Bayelsa elderstatesmen including GEJ. Beign a man held in high esteem by his people, he would have used his influence to sway the votes in the favour of Ndutimi Alaibe. APC leaders visit to the elderstatesman proves that they couldnt have achieve their success without his support. The voting pattern too. In Ogbia for example, -home of GEJ, APC won a landslide which is unprecedented beign the home council of GEJ and PDP stronghold ever since the creation of Bayelsa. Evidently because, his kinsmen saw it as a slight by Dickson on their own blood. Even in Kolga voter turn out was low, this is the LGA of Alaibe and Douye(Dickson's stooge), tho pdp won here but the turn out was a sign that a section were not happy with Douye candidature. The election could have still gone either way, pdp would have had a big say in the end, but for Dickson selfish intrest it was one sided. This election was a revolution against impen |
eenai:Correct analysis, you understood what really went down. Seems like youre from Bayelsa. Im tired of reading posts from people who are not from here or understand what went down. |
Rosyfina:Thank you for the correction. But you'll agree with me that voter turn out was low, because the people were disatisfied with the choice of Douye over Alaibe who had challenged for that position a lot of times, he finally decamped to the pdp, got the support of top pdp elderstatesmen then finally denied by Dickson. |
openmine:Thank you sir. Im a Bayelsa man, why wont I. |
context to which I applied god-fatherism. I applied to the harmful, imposing and controlling type. Given both characters at play- Johnathan and Dickson, you would understand my piont exactly. The person of Dickson is authoritative, has as well as controlling apperance. Given his past records he easily gives himself away, as the Mamman Daura; o(lo)shomole-type I need not say more(of course you get the piont). Jonathan on the other hand, is a more gentle fellow. Since he has always had a say in who becomes governor, he has never (i'm open to corrections) medeled in the day to day running. So when the ballot came calling, the people chose the better evil -the uncontrolling type god-fatherism. |
LegendHero:GOD-FATHERISM A form of political corruption in which an influential member of a party assists another person/party in climb to leadership due to many reasons. Wikitionary (2019) To be honest I tilt a little to your opinion on god-fatherism. Infact god-fatherism plays a major role in every sphere of life,. That beign said, GEJ is a god-father in Bayelsa state politics, as you rightly mentioned, every governor that have been elected to that position always enjoyed his support. But if you followed up on my commentary, you'll understand the |

Personally, I don't see why this should make news; I mean, is there anything these kids go to school for, aside cultism or prostitution. You hardly see news on university students, making important contribution to society. Open Universites should be widely encouraged to curb these social embarrasments in the name of graduates. I dare you to quote me. |
Another civil war loading. Kogities arm up or run away. |
Congratulations sir. Sucessful brands like this inspires young entreprenuers like us. I have tried many times at setting my own brand, but 'have not been very lucky. I know one day my story will be a motivation to others. |
Kennyswagzz:Ask them my brother, he ran and left stedwardship of the sinking ship in the hands of Gen Effiong (non Ibo) who fought till the end; and is never remebered, but a soldier that went AWOL is the hero. Smh |
rottennaija:I think he's just trying to play it safe you know, present evidence of miscounduct to INEC before heading to court, just incase INEC wants to claim ignorance. What happened in Kogi is a mini civil war, and i pray the court rules with all fairness. |
rottennaija:I think he's just trying to play it safe you know, at least keep some evidence of misconduct with INEC before heading to court, so they(INEC), wont claim ignorance. That election was a mini civil war. Wish him luck though. |
He's just wasting his time, they wont do anything about it. The pictures from the election that I saw is enough to cancel the election, anyway this is Nigeria. |
Ceoking7:Did you read the part where I pionted out that Lyon was a better candidate. Plus they were the most popular of all the candidates |
leokid866:Piont of correction sire. O(lo)shomole did not deliver Bayelsa. The people of my state did, we on our own did, we didnt want the politics of god fatherism in our state, so we wemt for a better option in Lyon. Even Sylvia an APC henchman could'nt deliver himself in 2015 talk more of another person. I dont have to say more. |
oyin44:You be correct Ijo boy, that's why you understand what really went on. Dont mind all these yourba people that want Bayelsa to be like Lagos where one man will control everything. |
joshrare:YOUR FADA!!! If you understand anything about politics even down to the spelling, you'll be grateful for the rest of your misrable life. |
Owologbo: |
AllenSpencer:The fact that he was visited by APC chieftians or that he (allegedlly) supported APC in the just concluded election, does not mean he has moved to the APC. This how matured politics is played (I can quote examples if needed). Politics after all is a game of intrest and his intrest may have been across party line. This Bayelsa election is a classical case of GOD FATHERISM VERSUS POLITICS AS USUAL; and the people chose the better evil. #notogodfatherism |
voltron14:An Ijo man is a free spirit. Godfatherism can never and would never work in Bayelsa (as demostrated in this election). Johnathan is a statesman and his views are highly respected. If you're from or stay in Bayelsa you'll know that Bayelsa no be Lagos. |
Kennyswagz2:Bros I am not ibo but l am just saying what l have seen. |
Kennyswagz2:They are proud people. But the uneducated class are very silent millionaires, they drive small cars, even wear Okirika, but have millions worth of investments and in their accounts-enjoying air con. |
Bighead9:You maybe right sha. But my boss as a case study. Has a 4qing 2 story building and lots of self cons and flats. But the guy drives a highjet. I think it is because they have this saving culture. |
austinsmat:A swear since I came to the east I noticed that Igbo people especially Anambra people go dey drive keke but e get money pass the who dey drive jeep |
buhariguy:Whatever you call it, it is still a scam. |
buhariguy:Christianity is a scam. It is the white man religion. |
