It is totally different from what the world knows as same-sex marriage. Therefore, tagging it same-sex marriage is wrong.

I know and have witnessed that cultural practice in the Igbo land. I also know that it is not called marriage between the two women. There is a name for it but I can't remember it right now. That practice could be likened to a woman going to get her son a wife either because he lives far from home or he is late. In same-sex marriage, family members and kinsmen are not needed. But in that cultural practise in the Igbo land, it can't be successful without the participation of family members and kinsmen. As a matter of fact, the newly married woman is paired with a specific man who plays the role of impregnating her whenever she needed to be pregnant. She is not married to start sleeping around with random men. So, the difference is very clear.
