BigBashiru:
And between 1960 and when Shoprite came (over 45 years) why didn't it grow ??
I should school you but you must be humble to learn.

Small scale businesses are affected because they can't compete favorably with these "foreign" companies because of their force of finance. The businesses have obviously been growing but they can't COMPETE with these people!

There's a reason Mugabe chased white farmers away from Zimbabwe in 2002. I don't have strength or I would have elaborated more.

They are good sources of FDI, but they have many disadvantages.

I read Politics and Geography btw

Brandonx:
So shop rite has been the reason local supermarkets have not grown.

Proverbs 17:28 says "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding".
You are the fool here because you lack the basic understanding of how Multinational and Transnational companies affect the local retailers. They come with a huge force of finance and kill all competition.

When you don't have knowledge of a particular topic, just keep quiet. You musn't display stupidity and call it ignorance.

This one is a well-known attention seeker. There is a way she would have written the post with logic and it would make a whole lot of sense. But instead, you still made same generic post which has been over beaten here.

Anyways... I would expecting too much from a brain dead fellow if I expected you to make sense.

There is enough space in the sky for every bird to fly. I'm happy with the comments. Together, we can build a true formidable world. You can chat me up to join the general class as well as register for the copywriting training.

That amount is too poor for the things I am going to be teaching you. And I promise a refund if you don't learn anything after the first day. The choice is entirely choice, but if I was you, you know which I would choose wink

BusinessDiscover The 15 Secrets To Being A Successful Copywriter And Staying Engaged by IncredibleWrite(op):
I saw a thread on Nairaland last week where people were sharing their life stories. Some stories were that of resilience and victory, while the vast majority of the stories I read there were actually pathetic.

I felt really emotional and pained because I've been there. I empatsized with those I could and started a free class on ways of making money online and other personal development tips for them on Whatsapp. Since last week Friday, I've been on an intensive coaching. So far, I had taken them on topics like Affliate marketing, Amazon publishing, Freelancing as a topic and lots more. I would actually be taking them on Copywriting as a general course today.

My teachings have been yielding fruits as can be seen from many testimonies in the group (Some screenshots below). I was really happy because I have always loved impacting in others.

Many indicated interest to learning Copywriting. I decided I was going to conduct a more in-depth Copywriting class for them other than the general one just for a token - since I noticed most of them don't have money.

The one week master class would commence on the 27th of this month. It's going to be a total drilling...you can't be with me and be a mediocre. I am going to share some ebooks of the greatest Copywriters I bought for free with them plus the secrets they would need to succeed. It's going to be a full package. The first 20 people would pay just 3k while the rest would be 5k (which is still low for the knowledge I would be sharing).

2 people have made payments though, left with 18 for the 3k bonus. You could forget about this training and continue to wail about unemployment and poverty. But let's be frank, you wouldn't have read up to this point if you wanted that. You are here because you believe you deserve a better life than the one you have now. Don't miss this opportunity.

people will always tell you to start small and stop thinking of that dream job. But you need something to start small. I'm willing to start small even if is starting with a security job or cleaner, at last last them go tell you say you no get experience for the job. its really frustrating man.
Must you look for a job? Why not start by learning a skill? That is what people actually mean by starting small

before then I had put in money to a kinda network biz and that one too went like that and I felt mayb cos I was dealing with a young guy and u know most young guys and girls like me are not trust worthy although I believe I’m an exception. So this time around I tot okay this biz is not the networking biz and this man is such an advanced man and wouldn’t want to fall his hand for a small girl like me. I mean I’m in my 20s and dis man is close to his 50s and he has seen millions so he’s likely not to get carried away with my hundred of thousands Atleast that’s wat I tot. And den just for d first supply he messed everything up and didn’t even return Atleast half of d money. So that has made me scared. First I’m scared cos both the young and old are the same thing and den I’m scared cos I feel well mayb I’m not meant to do bizness.
You are not alone. Genuine people like us still exist...is just that the scammers far outweigh the genuine ones. I empathize with you, the stupid man and his ilks would meet their Waterloo someday. I pray God heal you. Have you tried acquiring a skill?

My own case is nothing to write home about.
I'm in my late twenties and this month will make it exactly one year that I completed my youth service. To cut the long story short, I've been sitting down at home for close to a year now doing nothing. I'm still roaming around the streets of abuja submitting CV but no positive response. I've search for menial jobs non is forth coming. I intend starting a business but no capital, learning a skill from anywhere now involves you to pay money for apprenticeship. The worst of it all is that my family members don't even care weather I'm still alive or dead. I'm scouting with someone right down and I'm sure the person will be tired of me soon. Suicide thoughts is just coming to my mind every time. I'm willing to start small but that small self no won gree start o. I'm fed up with life.
I feel bad reading stories like this. I emphasize with you because I've been there. However, you don't need to give up.

Copywriting is one skill you can learn and start without making much investment. Every business needs writers. So if you follow the steps I would teach you, you would Excell. All you need is a phone and/laptop. I would also give you some free ebooks. You must be open to learn...would teach you for a token cos of your situation. This is one of the best headlines I have ever come across in nairaland.
I finished my school at the age 23 served 23/24 and after my service last year,
I have been searching for a job. I made 2:1, but staying idle is beginning to make me forget what I studied in school, so I advice myself and I got some materials related to my field in other to keep my memory fresh, cos it will be very embarrassing if I go for interview and I fail to answer a simple question all because of staying long without being engaged. (God forbids!).
so far I thank God so much because despite being jobless for now, I have not been depressed. My next step is to storm schools in Abuja, immediately schools resume, cos the son of man must start something.
And I know my God won't fail,
Let me use this medium to encourage everyone out there, who is jobless to believe in God, because he that created you knows your future betterthan u,
and please while u are staying at home try to spend time with God, and learn more about life, Make plans concerning your life. Above all make the most out of this time, cos when work comes u may not see this time again.
God bless us all!.
Have you considered Copywriting as a career or even side hustle? You have impeccable Grammer. You would do well. If you are interested in learning, I could teach you for a token with free ebooks.

I've never experienced this kind of life in my life time.
Finished NYSC last year October, ever since then life has been terrible. Applied for jobs but wasn't selected, tried business (I redeem gift cards and buying bitcoins) but didn't last, no customers(the few ones I had left without any concrete reason), have a debt of 100k plus to settle. The only company that manage to consider me employed me with o level.(HND holder and I have NCE )
You can imagine that (the disrespect is best imagined).
Just tired of everything.
Sorry about your experience bro. I've been there and I feel your pains. If you are serious, I could teach you Copywriting for a token. And if you are wondering if it is lucrative, just know that every business needs writers. All you need is a laptop and/or phone. And it's a learnable skill. I would teach you everything you need to know.

CareerAre You Poor? by IncredibleWrite(op): 4:00pm On Jun 14, 2020
Sometime early last year, one of my female friends called me "poor" because I couldn't meet her financial demand. I laughed it off because I know I wasn't poor. If I could remember clearly the UN definition of poverty, it is simply a situation when one lacks education, shelter and the basic necessities of life. So if you have a roof above your head, you have an education, atleast you aren't poor. Your poverty may perhaps be relative not absolute. You have everything you need to succeed.

There are certain things that differentiates the poor from the rich viz:

1. The information at their disposal. Knowledge is truly power if you can use it effectively. So if you have access to basic and not even tertiary education, you have access to knowledge. How hungry are you for knowledge? Sometimes people miss opportunities because of their lack of access to those information. That is why you need to continually seek knowledge and any avenue that enhances such.

Some feel reluctant to use their money to buy ebooks or pay for trainings. Well, I was there before until I realized that the information at your disposal can change your life and that of the people around you. Most knowledge I share with my group on WhatsApp are from ebooks I bought, paid trainings, YouTube videos, conferences and the internet as a whole.

Just last night, I purchased 4 videos on e-commerce, web development, digital marketing and mini importation respectively. I would be using them to teach those that will enroll for my business class which is forthcoming. In a nutshell? Seek knowledge and information, you won't regret it.

2. Their mindset: Give a rich man and a poor man 5k each. The rich man would be thinking of how to double that amount. The poor man would remember he has torn clothes to mend, that he needs to buy new shoes to look good, he need to....and the list is endless. What differentiates the poor from the rich is that the rich invests in assets, the poor? In liabilities! Your mindset would take you far in life. Take a cursory from "The richest man in Babylon"

3. Limitations: This could still be a subset of mindset. The poor always gives excuses as limitations. "I am from a poor background, I don't have a University education, I don't have a laptop, I don't have a good phone yet" etc. The rich would say, "Well, I don't have a laptop but I'm looking forward to getting one soon, I can be managing my phone" etc...Someone with a rich mindset is always hopeful.

So what is your excuse? When I started Copywriting I was using a phone with a broken screen. You can only see through half of the screen. Some mocked me, but guess what? It didn't deter me - shamelessness.

I repeat, what is your excuse again?

CultureRe: China People And Culture In Anambra by IncredibleWrite: 10:44am On Jun 13, 2020
Going through this thread makes me realize how ignorant and unexposed some people are. How does the Chinese institution translate to domination of the Anambra people?

For those who don't know, studying Chinese can open doors for you. I remember helping a friend who studied in that institution to write a scholarship essay...she was eventually granted the scholarship. Another one from same institution got a job immediately after graduation in a Chinese firm here in Nigeria with a salary of 150k plus free housing.

Your closed minds is why most of you are still miserable. Open up your mind...nobody can survive in isolation and to top it all, the world is going global.

This was my school but I am really disappointed with the pictures I am seeing here. Except for the library, every other thing looks the same. Computer science, civil Engr dept buildings have not been painted for the past 17 years. The microbiology dept is an eye sore, I wonder how the inside will look like?
I believe alot still needs to be done in maintaining the school. Howbeit, these pictures doesn't still do justice to the serene and calm UNN environment I schooled in and even visited early this year.
