Ishilove:

My dear brother, I was discussing it with someone today. There is so much corruption in the sector, the biggest gainers being the custom officers themselves. We cannot move forward in this country until we change our mindset as a people. Business owners are the worst hit because when we transfer some of these added expenses to the customers, they start complaint and shove off to find other alternatives.
Lol I work in these port terminals and if I open my mouth to tell you what we see daily with the level of corruption going on there, you will scream to the high heavens.

Btw if your uncle or anyone you know is a customs official in these terminals, he is on money.

The congestion has been terrible of recent. The roads are bad. Trucks still stuck in Mob for weeks now. Why won't they charge high to carry containers?

While coming back through Liverpool this evening I discovered they have blocked the bridge.

Nigeria matter don tire me

I feel the exact same hatred for Uncle Solomon. That fool made me battle severe inferiority complex and self-esteem issues.

He called me good for nothing. He treated a sect of people in class with preference against we who came for average and below-average homes.

One time, one of his favorite students was making noise in the exam hall. I just turned around and smiled...the fool said I was indulging in exam malpractice and gave me severe beatings.

I have forgiven him but I can never forget all he did to me. The day I finished my degree exams, I dedicated it to him - I wasn't useless after all.

That "useless boy" of yesterday is on a quest to leave prints in the sands of time.

From coal camp to Uwani
From independence layout to ogui road
From okpara Avenue to Ogbete

Anywhere you go in 042.. the story is the same

Ifeanyi ugwuanyi is the worst thing to happen to Enugu State...

The worst Governor in the country

The worst Governor in the universe...

This Man is doing absolutely nothing in the State ..

Say a prayer for Enugu...

I understand your outburst. Ugwanyi needs to do more and stop propaganda.

However, I disagree with you if you say he's the worst governor in the country. Far from that. He's head over a lot of governors I know.

He has 3 more years to prove himself.

Besides the Sullivan you guys make reference to only concentrated development in Enugu metropolis.

Yes, anything. The difference is: do you want to make money from the book or you just want something to brag with like: I'm an author — I wrote a book.

If it's about money, then write what the foreign market wants. If it's about name, then write what you want.

This is the highest I can go on this topic about the processes of the business. This is one of my prohibited topics of discussion.
It's obviously about money. Might change the settings and examples and use a pen name for the Amazon version. Thank you

Politics / Re: Why Are Older Nigerians So Unfortunate? by IncredibleWrite: 11:49pm On Oct 21, 2020
ibedun:

Hmmm, how many people had the N250 to buy a telly back then? How many? May be 1% of the Nigerian population (mostly those living in Lagos). And who told you all these LIES about people having access to opportunities, environment bla bla bla? Who told you these lies? They had needed things? Are you for REAL?

All the conditions you highlighted above can be found in almost all developed countries (I was in almighty California in January this year). Same story/conditions...RELATIVELY speaking of course but not different. A lot of Nigerians live better than Americans and Europeans but you don’t know that.

The reality of life is that most people will be poor (many Americans are very poor) regardless. The truth is no government on earth can provide its citizens the perfect conditions to thrive. It is an individual choice. Choose right bro.
The wretched poor man who chooses to have 8 children and sinks himself and his family into further poverty and misery IS NOT your headache. Those who live in slums somehow end up there as a result of the choices they made somewhere along the lines.

Nigeria has NEVER been perfect and the problems you are experiencing today were much less because the vast majority of the population were living in the villages back then.

I have been reading your posts and I understand your argument.

Truth is,

They have an element of truism.

But you need to understand what these people are saying.

The generation from 50 had everything they needed to build a truly prosperous nation. What did they do?

They plunged the nation into war with various coups and counter-coups. They called the whole world to Festac in Lagos and spent billions celebrating. One of them said the problem wasn't money, "but what to do with it".

These greedy fools dolled out millions to other African countries in aid. To point out, most of them enjoyed free education.

Then the SSCE certificate had so much value. After graduation, you are immediately given a car a job.

Our lecturers then in school shamelessly told us tales of how they were fed in school by the federal government. With chicken laps o... All you needed was a meal ticket.

Education was cheap and free with several opportunities for the educated.

One of the big fools brought the SAP programme which further added to the impending doom.

You all watched on. You may say you protested and got us democracy. But who pushed us into anarchy in the first place?

What about our contemporaries at the point of independence?

Singapore, a one city state came out from Malaysia(which thrives on palm nuts) and see where they are today.

I hope you are getting our frustrations now? The only advantage we have over the older generations is just the internet.

If I had taken all the advice given to me by my parents and uncles, I would still be far behind today.

That generation failed us and we don't want to fail our children.

I am in no way trying to exonerate yahoo guys and other scammers.

And yes, people can make legitimate cash from the net. Earned my first dollars from Upwork.

We have rich and poor, slums and posh areas everywhere. But the question is, what is their percentage when compared? I hope you also know we have relative and absolute poverty?

MOST of them there their poverty is relative. The reverse is the case here.

No, it's fear of poverty, not love. Love is just a byproduct.

Nathaniel will run 2x faster if a lion is chasing him more than in a 100m race. Trust me. His life is more important than that 100m race.

Yes, you're right and this is true. Even though we paint the KDP business as being stressless, there is lots of work to be done before the money will start coming.

Fear and Love (in the right person) will yield the same result. The advantage of Love over fear is - If your action is spurned from love, you will live the life you love; and love the life you live.

The life you live now is the life you love - you took action because you love greatness not because you fear poverty.

I took action because I fear poverty and love greatness.

So, some of your points are valid.
What you have said is the truth bro. People are more motivated by fear and pain than by pleasure.

That's why, as a Copywriter when writing copy, we try to use fear to get people take action.

And guess what?

It always works.

There was one copy I wrote using a story about a man who died because of obesity. I agitated the pains he passed through and how he died while sleeping.

Actually,

I was selling a weight loss product.

The product sold like wildfire. So yes, you are right.

And truly, the fear of poverty is what propels me to work hard.

When I was in school, the fear of failing made me work hard too.

So fear is a very strong emotion.

Business / Re: DM For Price: Why Do Online Vendors Do This? by IncredibleWrite: 8:47am On Sep 26, 2020
If you don't know the reason people do things, ask politely, than going ahead to assume. I see some ignoramuses calling the sellers names. That's because they haven't walked in their shoes.

Running an e-commerce business in Nigeria is hard on another level. A lot of people would frustrate you. It's something I've done and still doing.

Most of these people who ask about the price in the Public domain are unserious. Some just want to know if they can be better competition. Any serious buyer wouldn't be aggravated when asked to DM for price.

The primary aim of an ad is not to sell directly, but to aggregate leads for conversion. If you are a seller here, don't make the mistake of dropping price randomly. Don't mind what these people say here.

Some of us faced the same fate during University admissions. I was called names then for not changing my state of origin like others to either Kano or Katsina.

It was so painful scoring high in both Jamb and Post ume and be denied admission because you are from an acclaimed Educationally developed state, even if you don't reside there. While your counterparts from the North get in with very low scores.

Nigeria can never be better with such disparity. It doesn't promote competition.

The funny thing is that they go on to head ministries and government parastatals and you wonder how Nigeria can be better.

I beg to disagree, NUC have not ranked Nigerian universities for the passed 15 years or more, there is nothing different about Nigeria public universities, same lecturers, same facilities, the only difference is the effort individual students put in.

I have gone around almost 10 Nigeria public universities and i didn't see any difference, same overcrowded class are found in all of them, you will still find lazy lecturers who uses 2010 handout to teach in 2020, i still insist that the only difference is the effort individual students put in making themselves exceptional among others.

Go to schools such as Borno state university, you will see a student that is good than someone in UI, same applies to students in UI.

So the difference is the students, just like you pointed out that graduates these days are not employable.
I agree with you, but in comparative terms, some schools have a greater percent of serious students compared to others.

I visited some state Universities and was really shocked at what was obtainable. Sure, they had serious students, but the unserious ones by far out number the former.

He's forgetting the "nepotism" involved in admission hence where you see admission is where you go. You mustn't be bright to attend a university. Just have the connect. There are people with very high jamb score who couldn't afford UNIVERSITY cos of nepotism hence saw Polytechnic and went. He's so uninformed
I can see how you are running from pillar to post trying to sell the narrative that the Polytechnic is not only equal but better than Universities. This is nothing but self-delusion!

Be sincere to yourself, if you had both opportunities on a platter; which would you go for?

I know there are brilliant and dumb people in both institutions, but you certainly can't compare them in proportion.

The University standard is higher. The infrastructures are better equipped. The entry qualifications aren't the same. And you want them to be equal?

It is good that there are some Poly graduates out there doing well for themselves, but you will be making a joke of yourself by trying to sell the narrative that they are equal or even better than Universities! Not even in the next 1000 years...

I should school you but you must be humble to learn.

Small scale businesses are affected because they can't compete favorably with these "foreign" companies because of their force of finance. The businesses have obviously been growing but they can't COMPETE with these people!

There's a reason Mugabe chased white farmers away from Zimbabwe in 2002. I don't have strength or I would have elaborated more.

They are good sources of FDI, but they have many disadvantages.

So shop rite has been the reason local supermarkets have not grown.

Proverbs 17:28 says "Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding".
You are the fool here because you lack the basic understanding of how Multinational and Transnational companies affect the local retailers. They come with a huge force of finance and kill all competition.
