Some people went there on personal integrity, but i know many people that were mobilized too. I'm a fan of the governor like I said earlier, but i don't support that inauguration at all. Let's start practicing what we preach. That kind of inauguration is not democratic at all. It's crude politics that was supposed to die with d last administration. Democracy is majority rule! My fear is the future, if we continue to set dangerous precedence like this,one day Mr president will use his office to inaugurate the national assembly at 12am in the night if he can't get majority of lawmakers to support his choice candidate.Already Bauchi and Edo have done it and others are watching. Our politicians learn bad things faster than good things. Obaseki has done well in governance but that doesn't mean when he's wrong we should just look d other way.

You may not have been paid,but I can confirm to you that very many people there were mobilized and payed. My friends were mobilized and paid. I really don't have issues with GO, I love him,but I don't think today's rally was necessary. It's a sign of distraction already.

Obaseki was wise enough to make an Esan man the speaker of Edo State. If APC fail to give him ticket they should be ready to say goodbye to Edo State because any party Obaseki decamp to will definitely win the election

The race 4 speakership was between two esan sons. Edoror and Okiye. Just that obaseki wanted Okiye but couldn't get the majority of lawmakers to buy into his choice of speaker and decided to do the inauguration at night without the notice of others.
The seat was originally zoned to the ishan people.

Obaseki please stop wasting our scarce resources to organize needless rallies. Renting crowd is no big deal in Nigeria politics.

My governor, I think you're distracted already. This needless rally where you spent millions of naira of Edo state money is a clear evidence that the heat is getting to you already. I love you, but i don't think today's rally was necessary. To rent crowd is no big deal,you didn't have to go that way to prove a point. Although I like obaseki, but i think he got it wrong with this house of assembly matter.
It was very wrong to have orchestrated the inauguration of the house at night with minority group.
I felt embarrassed because I see him as a very civilized person. I suspect he was wrongly advised.
I see the hands of Philip shaibu in this, he's a thug to the core.He can lobby the members, let him borrow a leaf from tambuwal of sokoto state. I can't imagine national assembly clerk inaugurating the NASS at 10pm with a minority group to elect Senate president or speaker just because the president is unable to get majority of members to buy into his own choice of candidate.
It's a terrible precedence that must never be encouraged. Same goes for bauchi too, they should properly inaugurate the assembly. I love obaseki but on this one it's a wrong move. Nooooooooooo!

There's no excuse for suicide, it doesn't solve a thing. Suicide is for the mentally weak, some of us have gone through very terrible phase in life and came out stronger. Suicide is never an option and should never be defended under any circumstance.

Looking at the recent appointments, it's very clear that Nigerians should not expect to see anything different from the last 4yrs.

Sadly, those with Elumelu are in the majority and they will simply stand with the majority APC members on any matter against the interest of their hostile party.

We can also see that PDP - despite all talks has not purged itself of undemocratic behaviors. Four years ago, the party led the campaign that presiding and principal officers are NASS positions and should be decided by only members of the assembly. Why is it now so difficult for the party to accept the decision of majority members of the minority caucus?

The party simply cannot practice what it preaches and that is a very bad sign for a party that is parading itself as a better alternative to the ruling party.

That is the attitude of the typical Nigerian, when it suits their purpose, it is right when it doesn't, it is wrong.

Wole Olanipekun is an authority in legal technicalities. Again he just won this on same legal technicalities. Judges should learn to be very detailed in their jobs to avoid legal loopholes that can be taken advantage of by smart lawyers in higher courts.
