He spoke about his recent successes, his career, his journey into music and his love for Africa.

On how his music career started: I’ve always liked it, I kind of fell into music through some friends who were doing music, and then I used to follow my cousin to the studio and stuff and from there, it started.

On struggles getting into music: I would say I was one of the lucky ones, the first time I ever recorded and dropped that got big, that was the first song I ever recorded, started blowing up.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion suffered the most lopsided defeat of her career, a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Johanna Konta in San Jose, California, last Tuesday. She then withdrew from this week’s Rogers Cup in Montreal, citing personal reasons.

“Last week was not easy for me. Not only was I accepting some tough personal stuff, but I just was in a funk. Mostly, I felt like I was not a good mom,” Williams said in an Instagram post on Monday.

“I read several articles that said postpartum emotions can last up to 3 years if not dealt with. I like communication best. Talking things through with my mom, my sisters, my friends let me know that my feelings are totally normal.

He started writing songs at age 11 when he joined the Church Choir where he then moved further to doing music professionally, which was in 2013  when he first recorded his hit solo track Mirror, and this helped him gain a lot of listeners in his area, Ogba. In 2015, Magixx gained admission into the University of Lagos, to study Mass Communications.

Davido currently has over seven million followers on Instagram, which makes him the most followed Nigerian on the photo sharing platform.

His long-time music rival, Wizkid, who holds the honour of being the second most followed Nigerian or brand is a long way from him at over five million.

This is as good as it gets for the Omo Baba Olowo but not everyone is completely sold on the number of his followers.

Two Instagram users, @kinglucyy and @amarabiish have questioned the originality of the ‘Aye’ crooner’s followers, insinuating that most of his followers might have been fake or cloned followers instead of real people and their reasoning, which they claimed was a result of intensive research and analysis, is based on the number of likes and comments the Nigerian pop idol gets, compared to his arch rival, Wizkid’s.

Samsung is always a step ahead and this time around they are up to something big. According to Reuters, it was reported that Samsung Display, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, on Friday said its recently developed unbreakable, bendable screen has passed safety testing in the United States, a step that will help the South Korean firm market the product.

Samsung Display’s new screen is protected by plastic rather than glass, increasing flexibility and making it practically unbreakable, the firm said on its website.

Importantly, the screen has improved transparency, almost akin to glass, allowing it to be installed on devices used close-up, such as smartphones, a Samsung Display official said.

The screen has been certified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc, a testing firm for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, after tests which involved being dropped 26 times from a height of 1.2 meters, Samsung Display said.

After testing, the screen continued to function normally, with no damage to its front, sides or edges, the firm said.

Samsung said it expects the new panel to have applications in non-phone markets as well, such as automobiles, mobile military devices and portable game consoles, among others.

A joint statement by its Chairman, Biodun Olaniran, and Secretary, Toyin Abegunrin, expressed surprise that the two governments refused to fund the university, even after it audited its personnel and accounts.



The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomosho yesterday has threatened to begin an indefinite strike if the owner-states of Oyo and Osun refuse to fulfil their agreement with the union.






A joint statement by its Chairman, Biodun Olaniran, and Secretary, Toyin Abegunrin, expressed surprise that the two governments refused to fund the university, even after it audited its personnel and accounts.


LAUTECH recently resumed from its eight month-old strike after the two states agreed to pay outstanding debt to the institution.

ASUU said the institution lacked adequate funding, while its workers were owed 10 months’ salary and promotion arrears, among others.

The union noted that besides non-payment of salary and other entitlements, there has been no infrastructural development on campus since the inception of the administration in Oyo and Osun states.

36 members of the House of Representatives have defected from APC.

32 of the lawmakers defected to PDP while four defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Announcing their defection on during plenary this afternoon, the lawmakers cited division at all levels of the APC as the reason for their defection.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and his deputy, Yusuff Lasun, are not among those that defected.

A polygamous man, who is unable to have an erection whenever he meets with his first wife, took his second wife to court, accusing her of bewitching him and the second wife has now been sentenced to 13 months in prison.



Godwishes Magarira of Makanda Village in Gutu, Zimbabwe, took Memory Shiri, 24, before Gutu resident Magistrate, Victor Mohadi. He pleaded with Magistrate Victor Mohamadi to punish Shiri for bewitching him and causing him to have erectile dysfunction whenever he's with his other wife.



The court heard that in 2016, Magarira approached Shiri and asked her why he fails to have an erection whenever he wants to have sex with the first wife and Shiri answered "ndakakusunga" which translates in English to mean, " I bewitched you". Shiri then took a nappy pin and a needle which were tied together and untied them while Magarira was watching and she told him that she had sorted out the problem.



Magarira accused Shiri of boasting that she can control his sex life. Magarira also got a medical examination report to prove that he was having sexual problems.

Witchcraft is not allowed under the Zimbabwean law and Shiri has now been sentenced to 13 months in prison wholly suspended on condition that she perfoms 455 hours of community service
