Beowulf:No problem. I had a feeling you might say you were a Columbia student. I have some friends that to go to school there. Do you live off or on campus? |
Although I am all for justice, I am in no way a supporter of his actions. This is a sad case but that is no excuse for vigilantism. The article mentions that the man is a former South African rugby player and that "the vast majority of South African rugby stars are white and it is possible the suspect could be accused of deliberately targeting black victims", if this individual is indeed white [even though the article gives some indication of what the man's racial identity is], are the police taking this case seriously because he is a white man who's daughter was rȧped? Would they have been so hands on with this case if the individual who was doing all the killing was a black man who killed white South Africans? I would never disregard the statement of anyone who says they were rȧped but could it be possible that one contributing factor to this killing spree was because those the individuals were black? They [The Daily Mail] did mention that he approached one man [Khangelani Mdluli] and attempted to make him one of victims and approached another man, Siyanda Khumalo, also attempting to make him a victim. Another thing I wonder is, suppose the rȧpe victim [the former rugby player's daughter] provided false information of the incident and those men actually had nothing to do with this girl? Why didn't he [the former rugby player] seek legal assistance i.e. going to the police? Now that he has murdered the accused rȧpists, the police only have the word of the violation victim and her father. I'm very interested in hearing more of this story and how it will end. |
@OP: Although I'm not a big fan of Nollywood and Gollywood, I must say, I have NEVER heard or seen this girl before. Fabulous E:Nope, not me. I've never even see her before ![]() londoner:Wow, this is very interesting Thirst4Lif:Can't believe it either but they're doin' it ![]() latogng:looooooooooooool ![]() |
@Beowulf: I truly enjoyed reading your post on your experience here in the US and I must commend you for making the best of a bad situation. I remember having a similar discussion with a friend of mine on Facebook about situations such as your own. I mentioned to this friend that I wanted to create some kind of organization where I and others could help Nigerian and other Africans who find themselves in these kind of situations. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to be in a land that is foreign to you and not have assistance or knowledge on how to navigate through it all. It can be even more of a struggle when you have bureaucratic huddles preventing you from achieving your goals. You're story reminds me of another friend of mine who is also attending school here in the US. This friend of mine, when I think of him, I often become sad because just like you, he is here in the US by himself. The only difference between you and him is that he is here on a scholarship. When I talk to this friend, he tells me about how much he misses his family and how he doesn't have money or time to work [there's a reason why I mentioned that he doesn't have time to work but I cannot disclose that reason]. It is truly a sad situation because as an international student, you are limited to the amount of hours you can work and the types of jobs that are available. My heart truly goes out to you and others like you who are struggling or have struggled and made it past such adversities. As a student and resident of New York, I know how expensive daily expenses can be. If you don't mind me asking, you mentioned that you are a student here in the US and your profile states that your location is in New York, which leads me to ask, do you go to school in upstate New York or in the city? And how is you situation currently? |
fstranger3:Nope, we never exchanged numbers. fstranger3:Ok ![]() fstranger3:Ummm, I suppose but I would never give anyone my financial aide money. . . I don't even get financial aide anyone |
@OP: I love tattoos [and piercings as well]. I don't mind if a guy has tattoos. I've been thinking about getting one myself but each time I think in depth about it, I have doubts. Piercings on the other hand, I will definitely be getting more of those. I see nothing wrong with someone having a tattoo, even my great grandmother had one [bless her soul |
fstranger3:These ones: Lmao, how can I call you if we've never exchanged numbers? Ms. Chima mentioned to me that she has a co-worker who's brother was going to be in New York but as of yet, nothing has happened. Even if I wanted to meet up with the dude, why is that such a bad thing? Its not like I'm looking for a serious relationship. What was that stuff you mentioned about financial aide? |
Actual, it is very fair of me. Based on the Nigerians I know and have encountered, it's not impossible to make an ASSUMPTION based on that experience. I guess it boils down to who we know and associate with. But Nigerians in general, MO, would not willingly settle down in that kind of lifestyle. Even AA in their right sense of mind and financial situation would not agreeably live the ghetto lifestyle. That lifestyle, IMO, is a forced circumstance.
Your experiences and the kind of Nigerians you have encountered or socialize with are not a representation of Nigerians as a whole. Like you said, it boiles down to who you know. As a group, we are not all the same. |
What a shame ![]() |
Are you married if yes please show us a picture of your husband so we know if he is handsome or ugly. Some people sha jealousy
What does jealousy have to do with this? Am I not entitled to MY OPINION? Must I think every man I see is handsome? Did it suddenly become a crime for someone to voice what their opinion is? Perhaps you think he's handsome but I don't. If you do in fact think that he is a handsome man, do you see me questioning your opinion? Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. . . I beheld his 'beauty' and I didn't like what I saw, so what is the problem with that? And to answer your question, no I am not married. Even if I was married and my husband were ugly, I wouldn't care. Because I say I wouldn't care doesn't mean that I don't acknowledge that the individual may not be handsome. All I simply did was say that I didn't find the groom to be handsome. Instead of singling out my one comment, perhaps you should be acknowledging other members who have said a mouth full such as playmate, mobelle, floxyrangy, and londoner. Nakele: ![]()
How?
That's just my opinion of him. |
@OP: What did you drink to make you post such a thread? |
@OP: I'm very happy for them so kudos to them Dolemite:lol lol lol ![]() |
fstranger3:School was fine and no, I didn't meet the Italian guy. You still haven't answered my questions ![]() |
Hi Ayo. How ya been? Anything new? |
EzeUche:Well said Thirst4Lif:Good point.
I doubt Nigerians are among those Africans. Nigerians in large detest anything ghetto. Well maybe the Nigerians that have been living her since the 30s (as some claim on NL) might live the "urban" ghetto lifestyle. But I am 99% confident that 100% Yoruba people would (if they could) avoid living amongst the Akatas. We thrive to survive, to bring our children up right. We strive to live the Nigerian lifestyle in a non-Nigerian region.
I don't think its fair for you to say that you doubt that Nigerians are among those Africans. If other Africans can live their life in that manner then what would make you think that Nigerians are immune to it? There are Nigerians such as the one that the OP mentioned that I've met and seen here in New York. As a matter of fact, my dad once told me about one of his co-workers [who is also Nigerian] and he mentioned that the guys brother was a drug addict. Till this day, the man is still a crack head.
Well, well, well. I see somebody has created another anti-AA thread. You know, I find it funny that some say that absolutely hate group A, but they can't stop talking about group A. If you hate group A so much, why talk about them? Anyway, as some here said this "urban lifestyle" is specific to one group. I've seen black, white, Asian, and so-called "Latino" (they are not actual Latinos) youngsters with the "urban" behavior. Is it unfortunate? Yes. However, one person's actions do not determine the behavior of an entire group.
I'm sorry if some of the things you've seen here on Nairaland may give you the impression that we Nigerians have some sort of overt disdain for African Americans but that is not the case. I don't think that the intent of the OP was to bash African Americans or create an anti-African American thread, which is why she mentioned "I know it is quite a stereotype that u would think of some black Americans being ghetto or living the lifestyle". It seems that she is aware that it is a stereotype and that it does not apply to all African Americans.
Paranoia. Should I point out to you that no one has mentioned hating "group A" or could you be a little less lazy and read through the posts on this thread to find out for yourself? Not living with "group A" does not mean one hates "group A", it could mean a number of things. Hate could be ONE of them, and not necessarily a strong dislike of the person, but their livelihood. And if you understand a lil bit of statistics, you'd know that one can never determine any interval for a population (entire group). but there's a probability that you could determine an interval for that population through the samples you've met and encountered. So yes, Nigerians might have this so so mentality for "group A" through samples of "group A" they've been fortunate or unfortunate to meet.
He's no paranoid. I don don't blame him voicing his comment as he did. Not too long ago there was a thread that had topics similar to what the OP of this thread mentioned. Imari:Well said. |
190:Don't mind him. He didn't even answer the second set of questions I asked. Phate07:I'm Inked_Nerd ![]() Phate07:Ya know I was wondering the same thing as well ![]() |
tuhott:You're a bad girl ![]() |
Na ugly man ![]() |
^^^ Chai, how can you say that? ![]() |
fstranger3:Lmao, how can I call you if we've never exchanged numbers? ![]() If there's someone pretending to be me then oh well, I have no control over that. All I know is, I didn't call you so it wasn't me. If 190 is a scammer then good for him. As for Ayosmiles, please leave him alone ![]() |
fstranger3:Call you? Ummm, you must be mistaken. Your no different from Bkbabe97 so I can't take you seriously. As for 190, despite our arguments, he's not a scammer. It's just amusing for the two of us to harass each other. I'm not with an Italian guy so I have no idea what you're talking about. Who is this guy from class that you're talking about? And leave Ayosmiles alone. |
fstranger3:lol ok whatever. If believing that makes you happy then good for you. Honestly, talking to you just helps me pass the time. At times, I just don't know when or if I should take you seriously. I know you probably don't care but I just wanted to let you know ![]() |
Who said I was playing? Did it ever occur to you that I actually don't want you? |
No thanks. I'll pass on this one ![]() |
fstranger3:Ouch ![]() |
lol, I'm not full of myself. |
