iyk1: my work schedule would not permit that woulda bin the best option but might consider it soon if i av no other options I think it would be advisable to just take one day off and take a trip to Contonou with an agent yourself. By so doing you would really get to know what your options are, you'll see and feel the car and finalise what price you'd be willing to pay, instead of relying on pictures being posted from Cotonou. Its like picking a wife. Would you rely on the picture? (She could have a fine face, BUT with club feet). |

idiopathic: Hi Siena, I have been following your postings on this auto site and have gained immensely from your advice. I have a very clean RHD 2002 Rover 75 connoisseur V6 saloon, engine size 2.5 with 62000 miles. I have had it for over 2 years and it has been very reliable the only problem was an incident of overhearting which was fixed after the fan was changed.
I am considring sending it to an uncle in Nigeria. What is your advice? Can you concert it to LHD? What will be the cost of this service?
I am based in Cardiff and you can respond either on this forum or by mailing me on: doctorkk1001@yahoo.co.uk. @Idiopathic, I have just shipped a RHD Rover to Nigeria this week. After the conversion of mine to LHD I will let you know how it went and what it cost me |

Properties › Re: How To Purchase Land Or Property From Abroad by insight04: 1:30am On Jun 05, 2010 |
rochefort: I bought a plot of land in Abuja in 2008 while I was in France. And amazingly, I got the agent through nairaland. Although it was federal government allocation with R of O and AGIS certificate, it was affordable and I could actually risk the money. I asked my younger brother to locate the agent in Abuja and inspect the plots. He did all the transactions on my behalf while I insisted that every agreement and document must be faxed to me. Today my building is standing "gidigba" on that land and no one has come to harass me on the land since I got back in 2009.
My advice to you:
You can actually buy anything you want in Nigeria without having to come over yourself. Just get your trusted one here who would inspect and get a lawyer to sanction everything (might cost you some little extra). I don't know anything about the Eastern part of Nigeria, but if it is Abuja you want a property in then you can verify at the Development Control Office of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) which is located at Wuse Zone 6 Abuja or at the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) Office. Any trusted one can do this for you, may be your dad, mum, sister or brother or even your friend.
Don't wait until you come back home before you buy because there are other beautiful things that will distract you. If you are serious about owning a property, then don't be intimidated by all the negative things you hear about Nigeria; just follow my advice above.
And if you need the agent I used from nairaland here, just indicate here and I would have him contact you. I deliberately didnt put his name here so that it won't seem as if I am praise singing.
Wish you good luck! @Rochefort, Could you kindly send me details of the Estate Agent to my email address <insight2004@yahoo.co.uk> Thanks |
