PoliticsWas Bakassi Sold Or Just A Gift To Cameroon ? by insight04(op): 6:00pm On Jan 15, 2009
Was Bakassi Sold or Just a Gift to Cameroun?
by Emeka Esogbue –

I am neither from Cross-River nor Akwa-Ibom states but as a Nigerian which I am shall always remain eternally grateful to Olusegun Obasanjo and Bola Ajibola, a duo of two Yoruba who as an act magnanimity either sold or presented our own Bakassi peninsular as a gift to Cameroun. As I write this piece, I express my bitterness on this very matter
because in history no elder statesman for any reason will display such an unpatriotic willingness to part with the territory of his or her country. This team, which also comprised of Chief Richard Akinjide has since seen the man (Richard Akinjide) regretting the action of Obasanjo pointing it out as one of the wrongs done by this man to his nation.

Suffice it then that the people of Bakassi were either not considered important to Nigeria as a nation or there were just certain things known to Obasanjo and Ajibola outside the knowledge of Nigerians, all of these things are still shrouded in mystery. Surely our leaders are incapable of protecting us. The focus of this article is that very aspect of the foreign policy of Obasanjo pertaining to Bakassi peninsular.

Bakassi can be likened to Obasanjo as June 12 is to Babangida. June 12 however became more prominent because the Bakassi are minorities with almost nobody to advocate or fight their cause in the political entity called Nigeria. It remains the biggest injustice Obasanjo perpetuated on Nigeria. Obasanjo swore to the oath of allegiance to protect the territory of Federal Republic of Nigeria thereby upholding the constitution of the country but he would readily and weakly fail in this.

Obasanjo and Bola Ajibola provided the platform under which the territory of our nation was given out to France and Cameroun, an act only as good as condemnably obnoxious because it led to the denial of Nigerian citizens. The whole drama was set out to please Britain, France and Cameroun by Obasanjo and Ajibola for the reasons not yet disclosed to Nigerians.

TravelTourism In Cross River State by insight04(op): 5:52pm On Jan 15, 2009
Tourism in Nigeria starts in Calabar, Cross River State. From the soaring plateaus of the mountain tops of Obudu to the Rain forests of Afi. From the Waterfalls of Agbokim and Kwa to the spiralling ox-bow Calabar River which provides sights and images of the Tinapa Business Resort, Calabar Marina, Calabar Residency Museum and the Calabar Slave Park along its course, there is always a thrilling adventure awaiting the eco-tourist visiting Cross River State.

Cross River State can be accessed by air through the Margaret Ekpo International Airport at Calabar. There are daily flights to Calabar from Lagos and Abuja serviced by airlines such as Virgin Nigeria, Arik Airlines and Aero Contractors. PoliticsRe: Why would obong of calabar try to stop the eze ndi igbo of calabar by insight04: 1:42am On Jan 12, 2009
The last Igbo clown who tried that Ezi Ndi Igbo stuff in Cross River was kicked out of Ikom and his bread factory was burned down. He was given a proverb, that "you dont sit down on top of a kola-nut tree to eat kola-nut".(you simply look for a quiet place to eat it, twit).

Can't they sit down like normal visitors and do their spare-tyre business jeje without trying to usurp territorial powers ?

udezue:
Ignorant ass. Please tell me if Igbos hate calabar people. The last time I checked Igbos have always strived to maintain a cordial relationship with its neighbors including Efik/Ibibios. We do not dispute the Ibibio presence in Arochukwu and I am part Aro and have Ibibio roots so I think I have an idea of what I am talking about. Nonsense. How dare u come here to spill your unproven lies about a whole ethnic group but claim you are married to one. Guess what if Igbos are that bad why the hell are you still married one? What about your half Ibibio/ Igbo children. I'm sure they will grow up to be wicked and evil with all that Igbo blood flowing through their veins.

The only thing that will make anyone get so rattled up over such a silly issue is insecurity. I am not here to say that they should be allowed to have their Eze IGBO or not but how does that affect your Calabar people? People always want to find a way to express their hatred for another ethnic group by making a no issue an issue. I lived in Enugu and I know many non Igbos that lived there. Not once did I hear or see Igbos making their lives hell. I know some Efik/Ibibio folks that lived there and they speak fluent Igbo. What are u blabbing about? I am Igbo myself and I don't hate other Igbos. I even communicate and try to learn different Igbo dialects.

Oron, Annang, Efik, Ibibio are literally the same people with dialectical differences but are u guys united? HECK NO. The loss of Bakassi and the silence from all these groups is enough sign that when it comes to division u got work to do so go fix that before you come here casting aspersions on a people who have never committed any crime, genocide against your people. Their are non Igbos appointed in many state positions with large Igbo population. IF Igbos are unaccommodating I don't think that will happen. Igbos and Ibibios have always had a good relationship. Even during the Aba women's riot in 1929 Ibibio women joined Igbo women in the struggle. In Biafra Ibibios and Efiks fought gallantly on the Biafra side.

Don't generalize.
You have not answered the main querry why an Igbo business man should coronate himself as the Eze Ndi Igbo when they already have an Igbo Union that is recognised by the State Government for the purpose of representing the Igbo's in Cross River ? Ther person in question is a member of the Obong of Calabar's council of chiefs and is trying to undermine his authority.

The issue of whether Ibibio/Efik/Annang are united is not the issue. At least they don't operate the caste system. Your leaders should not have surrendered the Biafran war and left the Calabar man to 'carry the can'.
