i think its ok from a design point of view. Re-designing from scratch could be tedious, especially if the developer didn't use OOP. at least i love its functionality. Listening to the song " A word is enough for 9ice" downloaded via ur site. That's really what people want bro, after all nairaland is not d most appealing site despite its traffic. |

Existence of social networking pages have not and will not reduce the need for customized site, generally speaking. Maybe it will, in countries where there is no respect for web developers and where some "webmasters" are willing to charge N1000 for a website but not in other countries. There will always be a need for unique websites. Having said that, social networking sites should complement regular sites. In fact, I just read and SEO article yesterday that stated that search engines are adding sites with social network buttons as one of their many variables to determine site ranking on the SERPs. Though I create social site pages upon request for "free (not really as I calculate this into the cost of the site)", I don't do updates unless I am paid to do so. In today's world, one must use ALL arsenal at their disposal, within legal limits of course, to win over the customer. This is as opposed to locking out one avenue over the other just because you think you are smart and that you are saving money by not having say, a website. fellas making more sense |
hmmmm, quite interesting |
I have come across some clients in the past, who have attested to the fact that social networking sites eg Facebook and Twittter has been an effective internet communication tool to satisfy their online presence. Though i grossly disagree (not because i am in the web business), i still feel these social networking sites have reduced the need for customised websites, despite their limitations, eg customized mailing systems, flexibility to update the site and somewhat a more respected corporate outlook. So if these challenges exist for an average web developer, how can we benefit from the afforementioned point? Over to you peeps |

thought it was something more sensible this guy has to offer, its better to ignore him since he wants to start a senseless tug of war ![]() |
@yawa i dont see anything wrong wit the clock. its ok and makes it look more dynamic to the site visitor. |
Interesting. This shows how the environment and family can influence the thinking of an individual. Mark surely inherited his tech traits from his dad and his exposure to I.T at an early age was a major advantage to him. A moral behind this success story is with passion and dedication, we as Africans can conquer our travails. |
hmmm, so where do we go from here? |
, interesting |
dis site is same as the one i read in a css book sometime ago possibly about frames and design. its not your original work, but its ok if you are a beginner just practising with what u av read in the book. |
I do not support any form of drug peddling cos of its inherent danger to the soceity, but its absurd to take people's life if they've been convicted of drug related charges. You need to see the emotional turmoil the families of the convicted Fillipinos went through. A lady amongst them even had two young children, so i think death penalty should be abolished. |
The executions came after repeated pleas by the Philippine government for their sentences to be commuted were turned down, and ended vigils in Manila where supporters of the trio had prayed for a miracle. "Our government had taken every available opportunity to appeal to the authorities of China for clemency in their cases," presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said in a statement. "In the end, however, the sentences were imposed." He said the three -- Ramon Credo, 42, Sally Villanueva, 32, and Elizabeth Batain, 38 -- were put to death by lethal injection on Wednesday morning, although the Chinese government did not publicly announce the killings. The trio were sentenced to death after being arrested in China in 2008 for attempting to smuggle heroin into the country. In its pleas the Philippine government had insisted the three were gullible victims of crime syndicates who had been duped into becoming drug couriers. The three were allowed to meet their relatives for an hour before they were executed, in what turned out to be devastatingly emotional encounters. "She was crying, she was partly incoherent. She had a lot of things to say," said Jason Ordinario, a brother of Villanueva who along with another sister and their parents met her as the final verdict was read in a court in Xiamen city. "She asked us to take care of her children and make sure they can finish studies," he told DZBB radio from China. Villanueva's relatives said she did not know that she was due to be executed on Wednesday, and was surprised to see her family there. "I was the first one to see her, we locked eyes and we both cried. She said what are you doing here, why are you all crying, am I going to die," younger sister Mylene said on DZBB. "She tried to console us. She said, it's okay. I have accepted my fate. I will be your angel and watch over you." Villanueva's children, aged 12 and nine, were not able to see or talk with their mother before she was killed. They did not travel to China and local authorities would not allow mobile phones into the meeting room. Surrounded by a throng of supporters and journalists, Villanueva's relatives in Manila erupted in anguished cries as news of the execution broke. There were similar reactions at the home of Credo, but the family of Batain had requested privacy and no media were with them. Outside the Villanueva home in a northern Manila slum was a poster comparing her to Flor Contemplacion, a Filipina maid whose hanging in Singapore in 1995 led to a cooling of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Contemplacion was convicted of murder, although it was widely perceived in the Philippines that she was framed. Her fate remains an infamous tale about the perils faced by the nine million Filipinos working abroad, many of whom face exploitation while toiling away in low-paying jobs hoping to earn enough money to support relatives at home. Amnesty International criticised Wednesday's executions and accused President Benigno Aquino's government of not doing enough to save the three. "We strongly condemn the executions of the three Filipinos," Amnesty's Philippine representative, Aurora Parong, told AFP. "The Philippines should have taken a stronger action, and it is now its moral duty to lead a campaign against death penalty in Asia." Church leaders, who had asked the public to join them in prayer for a miracle change of heart by Chinese authorities, also expressed anger. "We had knocked on the doors of heaven to pray for what turned out to be an impossible wish," added Edwin Corros, executive secretary of church's commission for the pastoral care of migrants, told AFP. "We call on China to abolish death penalty. We believe no one has the right to take a human life." source : http://uk.news.yahoo.com/18/20110330/twl-despair-as-china-executes-three-fili-3b70ac1.html |

@Slyrox nice post and this is very very interesting. punk ass script kiddie doing the damage on d big boys!! but i doubt he did it all by himself. and it might even be a ploy of distraction by stating his political / national leaning. we need to wake up in naija |
will snoop around for more info, but its a fact that there is no unbreakable system. note that all some people think about is destruction! one just needs to follow best security practices and hope 4divine protection, since u never can tell where a leak would occur from. it could be as simple as just avoiding a line of form validation to cross-site scripting and other loopholes these hawks tend to act upon. |
its true getting Oracle jobs out there is pretty herculean, but note Oracle is still in vogue despite negative opinions. i just suggest u still go for it cos u ll always benefit from it as a software practitioner though combining it with programming (java) would be more beneficial since they both work closely. |
its quite difficult getting coldfusion hosting companies in Nigeria, but i ve gotten two anyway. I think the issue lies with our local hosting companies waking up and meeting industry standards. any way, for those of u dat tink ColdFusion is dead, its ur cup of tea. To me, its alive cos it pays my bills |

its always safer to assign variables first before using them in any scope. but in both codes, the syntax of the 2nd code is better and safer, since the declared variables are not used for database connectivity.Reason is because, for any variable (POST, SESSION, GET, REQUEST etc) to be set , there might be database authentication required |
