this debate doesnt seem to abate in a short while.Best is 4we d young ones to make best use of our God given talent. pls note dat d bill gates,larry ellisons(of oracle),facebook boys and so much more didnt av d best of degrees,but we all celebrate dem.
fact is,dose dat produce wat u use ll always make a living out of u.1st class or not, make d world a better place.IMPACT UR WORLD!

dats d advantage of attending privately run institutions. good facilities,environment, human resource et al ,but a major drawback most of these graduates encounter is a false feeling of being "very smart" compared 2their peers 4m public institutions.
maybe,just maybe if they attended govt run institutions,1st class or even 2'1 would av bin a mirage.
check d convocation lists of public institutions and u ll see
my humble advice 4dem is 2b grateful 2their parents who gave dem dat opportunity 2attend good institutions and realise this is just d beginning.the world out there is tougher than the relative padding they ve always enjoyed.

basically, i think it depends on ur interest cos software is pretty wide.is it database admin,applicatn devt, web designing etc.truth is, they are all inter-related but anyway,i suggest u go 4
sql>oracle/mysql/mssql server or any database > html/css/xml/> any core language eg java,php,perl, ruby,c++,vb.net etc.
d list shows an easy ascension in ur career growth.

oracle is a very vast software system comprising of database administratn, programmin, customer relationship mgt, billing systems and so much more.
in dis part of d world (nigeria), d database administratn (dba) track is d most popular in most IT schools.
its ist track is knowing SQL which is d language used in communicating wit d database.
2nd is d oracle cert. associate level which introduces d basic overview in managing and administering databases.
3rd is d oracle cert. professional stage (OCP) which exposes u to advance methods of back ups, recovery, automatic storage mgt and more.
4each of these stages, u ll b required 2write an online exam at a pearson vue authorized centre( formerly prometric).
d (OCP) stage is d only mandatory stage dat should require u to attend a hands-on class usually in an oracle-partner centre eg new horizon, niit, first logic and aptech.
truthfully, do not put much hope in d schools; u need to read "extensively" and make research online(google).
also ask questions (no matter how foolish) from dose dat know more and research on it.

theres opportunity in every IT facet, it only depends on u discovering ur strengths and weaknesses. for example, if ur quite a restless person who likes holding d screw driver, hardware could interest u. but if u cant sit down 4hours thinkin of logical ways in solving problems, then software eng. / programmmin aint 4u.
some people say u dont need math skills in programmin, but i ve 2b very sincere, being good wit math ll b a lot of advantage 4u. ask d emeka emegwalis, larry ellisons, bill gates etc.
in all, just discover ur passion and go 4it.having relevant cert. ll also boost ur masters, though i believe masters is 4dose pursuing admin positions

pls how can i get a bootable ubuntu/ knoppix linux cd/dvd? quite difficult gettin it even in comp village.also, downloading online is very slow so its not an option 4me.

well,from my knowledge in d I.T world, every language has its pros and cons. For example, pl/sql is more efficient than java in oracle, microsoft-based applications are better off with vb.net, php comes in more handy when building web-based applications than java.
on the other hand, it should be noted that java is very much versatile when building most applications (with the exception of microsoft) and other technolgies like SAP etc. So its better to use the right language 4d right job.
eg pl/sql for creating stored procedures,triggers and functions and java for the security end of an oracle database ; which is about the best approach to the issue at hand.

I cant lie about something like this.The result is mine.It's just that my school probably filled a wrong date of birth on my form during the registration exercise.I have my international passport and my birth certificate has evidence of my correct age.Better still,i heard that the other certificate is out.Hope there are no bad consequences if i apply with the new certificate that has my correct date of birth.Thanks.
