Point of correction, its Adobe coldFusion not Allaire ColdFusion. Looks like its an outdated documentation.
On the other hand, the speed and efficiency of a language is not limited to its engine, but it boils down to the skill set of the programmer.poor database design,
poor sql query , poor caching mechanism , heavy graphics, etc can always bring the fastest servers crashing down on its knees !

In addition to all the flaws aforementioned , i think the management page (management.html) is not well-arranged. I suggest you dont float the profile of " Dr Clement Okoh (Phd) " to the right of the flash picture. That is, start it on the same horizontal line with the profile of " Mr Emmanuel S. Morah ".
Same goes for the contact page (contact.html). i also suggest you float the form below flash picture.
On the positive side, i like the colour variation.

its pretty cool that you are doing fine in java. the edge oracle has is that you will always need DBA skills in apps development. the more skills one has, the better.
In this part of the world, u can be a jack of all, master of all, cos no knowledge is lost. as for job listings, maybe career sites eg allnigeriajobs.com , ,even nairaland could be of help.
Truth is, most job opportunities are not advertised online or even in the dailies.It requires one knowing the players in the industry, even if its a small IT shop.

@ jubatus, i like your zeal, but as many Oracle guys in this part of the world, your situation is not unique.Its a common scenerio. my advice is focus on any language like java, C++, or scripting languages like coldfusion, php etc. what i have observed for an average certified Oracle Dba in Nigeria is that you need to delve more into programming to get an audience. Only the experienced /seasoned Dba's can easily call the shots.

yea,i agree with pc guru. i had that experience with a site i developed. its simple, just set the body attribute in your css as :-
body { padding:0; width:950px; margin:0px auto;
}
html { padding:0; margin:0;}
this will be ok for most resolutions, but for 800 X 600 ,there will be some scrolling which will be ok.
note that the body tag should not be assigned to an id or class.
Finally, be careful with the inner divs (their width mustnt be greater than that of the body class). percentages and negative margins too are sometimes tricky

Mediocrity shouldn't be d order of d day in this country. I have been appalled by the growing rate of sub-standard hosting companies in Nigeria & i presently need to host some Coldfusion sites online ; preferably with a ColdFusion hosting company in Nigeria.

maybe u should come out clearer. did u write it urself? if yes, then debug where d problem lies or paste d code for review. if no, then that may seem more complicated.

too much hasnt changed.at a recent interview, i learnt the employers didnt have interest in female coders.i think they considered d tasks too strenous for them. E.G late nights and overnight coding sessions.

i have seen the both sides (CF & PHP) and voile CF reigns! more object oriented (components based), easier learning curve and faster development time. drawback of ColdFusion is that its not open-source and quite unpopular in this part of the world.

some of us shouldnt be sarcarstic about this tragedy.besides, its a private firm that owns it and not MTN.

the field is so large,but in dis part of the world where IT appreciation isnt at par with d developed countries, one should be realistic wit any software one builds , else its dead on arrival.
Only d bold and patient can take such risks.Truth is, u need to take feasibility study of the environ and doing dat as a programmer cant be as effective as a professional business developer.We ll get there soon
