I knew even before I clicked on this story that it was a girl involved. |
43 days? |
It has been reported that the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari IS dead. He had been admitted to a private hospital in Lagos, battling with complications from contracting the Coronavirus. The source was the media aide to the Katsina state governor, and also the personal assistant on new media to Buhari, who both posted it on Twitter. https://twitter.com/ibrabdullah1/status/1251286062300909568?s=19

South Africa, the country currently with the most Coronavirus cases in Africa, having over 1000 confirmed cases, has registered its first two deaths which occurred in the Western Cape. The country goes into full lockdown today which is supposed to last for at least 21 days.

No matter how much money I have, I'm not buying a house in Lagos. |
Freestainworld:It is not immediately clear, but indications point to the fact that the person is Nigerian. |
Since the first case was confirmed in Lagos, the NCDC has been supporting the Ogun State Emergency Operations Centre to respond accordingly We urge the public not to panic. You can protect yourself using these six steps #COVID19Nigeria

The Honourable Minister @Fmohnigeria has announced a second confirmed case of #COVID19 in Nigeria. This second case is a contact of the index case, in Ogun state. The new case has been in isolation and was tested as part of our strategy to test all contacts of the index case. Recent studies have shown that increased surveillance, isolation of contacts & in particular, contact tracing reduces the risk of spread of #COVID19 All other contacts of the index case in Ogun & Lagos will remain in isolation & testing will be done on those not yet tested

So, in church during the prayer session, and after the prayer topic has been introduced, I find I can't pray for more than 30 seconds, 1 minute tops. After that, I have nothing else to say. Yet I see others praying until whoever is leading the session intervenes and introduces another prayer topic. What exactly are they saying for that long or are they just repeating themselves. I can't speak in tongues too, so that doesn't help my cause. I also cannot pray loudly, I always whisper under my breath even when the pastor says to shout at the top of our voices, because that's just how I am. Do these things I mentioned n hinder prayers from being answered? Help

210 people have died so far in Iran, according to the BBC. 210!!! This is in the short period it's been there. I'm not trying to be a doomsday prophet, but if anyone ELSE is positively diagnosed with the virus in Nigeria, then it's finished. From those in denial, to those intentionally trying to infect others (because the heart of man is wicked: If I get, everyone must get), it is going to spread very, very, quickly. God help us |
One person to definitely NOT follow regarding updates about Covid-19 is Dr Kemi Olunloyo. She is alarmist. If you read her tweets you would think the Coronavirus is already in your household! She claims the NCDC is hiding the true amount of people infected, and that she was the first person to break the story but no one paid her any mind. If you're sha curious you can take a look at her tweets. @KemiOlunloyo |
Also, if you don't follow the NCDC on twitter, now would be a good time to. @NCDCgov

fatymore:I can assure you that the world has suffered worse pandemics of epic proportions but still didn't end. ![]() |
I mean, it's not the end of the world. We've got other countries that have had the virus now for weeks and still haven't recorded any fatalities yet, even though you can't compare their health facilities with ours. Just ensure you follow the instructions from health bodies like the NCDC, WHO etc about how to keep yourself safe. Avoid unnecessary physical contact and always wash your hands as often as possible. |

Apparently, the case is an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and returned from Milan, Italy to Lagos, Nigeria on the 25th of February 2020. |
It was inevitable, but still disheartening. The worst possible state to harbour this disease. |
The Honourable Minister of Health has announced a confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case in Lagos State The case, which was confirmed on the 27th of February 2020, is the first case to be reported in Nigeria since the beginning of the outbreak in China in January 2020 The patient is clinically stable and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital Yaba We assure all Nigerians that measures are in place to respond appropriately. We’re working with @LSMOH to identify contacts & initiate response accordingly https://twitter.com/NCDCgov/status/1233175138549587968?s=19

This section is without a shadow of doubt the most depressing on Nairaland, especially for someone that plans to foray into web development. The way people desperately spam this section with their adverts as if they live hand to mouth, especially when you consider how long they've been in the business and the services they claim to offer. You wonder what's in it for you just starting out learning when the veterans SPAM their adverts every fucking where, unrelenting. It's a motivation killer, trust me. |

With the current sorry state Nigeria is in, every country out there can be described as "top". #sleepingGiant |
I have a friend who went by the surname: Ogunkomaiya. Recently, when I looked him up, he now went by the name: Jesukomaiya. I don't know what these names mean in Yoruba, but I'm curious about the name change. Does it have anything to do with religion, and is this common? Thanks |
Female programmers...hmmm |
They also plan to reinstate the post-study visa (2 years) which they previously stopped. This is another route for Nigerians looking to move to the UK. |
Obviously, from the perspective of a Nigerian looking to emigrate to the UK, bear in mind that the Conservatives (especially the current PM, Boris Johnson), is looking to get Brexit done. If (or rather when) the UK leaves the EU, this would improve the chances of people from the commonwealth planning to move to the UK, because formerly EU had priority over jobs and seeing as they don't require a visa, it made it harder for non-EU citizens. |
The Conservatives are set to win an overall majority of 86 in the general election, according to an exit poll for the BBC, ITV and Sky News. The survey taken at UK polling stations suggests the Tories will get 368 MPs - 50 more than at the 2017 election - when all the results have been counted. Labour would get 191, the Lib Dems 13, the Brexit Party none and the SNP 55. More to come...

freeze001:My apologies for making assumptions about your gender. If I attempted to answer your question, I might get accused of sexism, although I found it a bit curious that you were more active in the politics section. |
freeze001:Yes, absolutely. I've taken a look at your profile, including your other posts and topics, sections of nairaland you visit, and I'm in no doubt that you are male. |
