Politics / The Saraki-dogara Coup – Hands Behind The Scene by investnotspend: 2:41pm On Jun 12, 2015 |
On the surface, it appears as if Senator Olubukola Saraki and his co-traveller at the lower house, Hon Yakubu Dogara, who earlier in the week emerged as the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively, through what political observers have come to identify as path of treachery must have planned the coup alone and must have acted the fast one selfsame day without any input or actions pre-dating that day other than Saraki promise to play by the rules. Little did the undiscerning observers of the power play know that some of the APC leaders, especially, those who have succeeded in forming a ring around President Muhammadu Buhari, were party to the ploy. These ones have since been shedding crocodile tears to give an impression of their commitment to the party tenets. They did not only support Saraki and Dogara against the candidates of their party, they went as far as participating in the bribery of the PDP Senators who rallied against their candidates. Prominent among the party leaders who encouraged their followers to vote for Saraki at the Senate and Dogara at the House of Reps, sources has revealed, is the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal. He was alleged to have had a clandestine meeting with the three senators from the state, namely Ibrahim Gobir representing Sokoto East, Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto North) and Ibrahim Abdullahi (Sokoto South) specificall instructing them to cast their vote for Saraki at the expense of the party candidate. More revelations are beginning to emerge, pointing to the fact that Saraki and Dogara were not lone runners, but were actually goaded to act against their ‘conscience’ by some forces, both internal and external to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Here is a blow-by-blow account of who did what behind the scene: The Tinubu Angle: At the outset, the leader of APC, Ashiwaju Ahmed Tinubu showed his support for the candidacy of Senator George Akume from the same North Central geopolitical zone with Saraki as the Senate President. Akume is a known friend of Tinubu and the latter did not hide his preference for the former. However, Tinubu had to withdraw his support for George Akume at the prodding of President Muhammadu Buhari when the latter told him that Lawan was his preferred candidate. It then became a moral became a moral burden for Tinubu to communicate the decision of the president to his friend. But he eventually did and encouraged Akume to step down for Lawan, while accepting to take the deputy Senate president slot. Initially, Akume turned down the offer, believing it was the turn of the North Central to be the Senate President, but later felt he had no option than to accept it, realising that it in other not to rock the boat of the party or tamper with the peace of the fledgling administration. Elements from the South west: Curiously, but true, certain elements resolved to work against the interest of, not only their Leader Ashiwaju Tinubu, but also that of President Buhari. These elements were led by the party of Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, Babatunde Fasola of Lagos State and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State. Facts emerged that the three beneficiaries of Tinubu political sagacity held clandestine meetings on different occasions on how to outsmart both their master and the president, while giving maximum support to the candidacy of Saraki. Part of their strategies was to invite some of the moneybags with financial baggages, who would want to curry the president’s favour to escape investigations, disempower Tinubu by circulating negative stories against him and thus cause a disaffection between him, Buhari and some other leaders in the APC. They also schemed their ways further into the heart of the president, impressed on him to live up to his words of to everyone and belonging to no one as a way of further boosting his soaring democratic credentials. They were also able to frame up Senator Lawan, who had been in the Senate since 2007, as a marked boy in the Upper Chamber. Trusting these his “men,” the President swallowed the bait. At one of the meetings held in Abeokuta on Thursday June 4, 2015 the day Fashola was honoured by Babcock University, the party invited Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Tony Elemelu and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, to sell the Saraki candidacy to them, with assurance that he would provide the shield for any probe darts against them. Well, these business and financial moguls had no option than to key into the plan and dole out billions for its prosecution. Consequently, Fashola, Fayemi and Amosun expanded their frontier, got and sought support from the party Chairman, Chief John Oyegun and Engr. Segun Oni, to further give “credibility” to their action as well as convince the president of the need to stay away from Tinubu, who according to them, was becoming overbearing within the party. Further support were garnered for the Saraki project during the president’s German trip. The PDP Angle: Benjamin Disraeli’s saying that “There is no act of treachery or meanness of which a political party is not capable; for in politics there is no honour” could not have found a better landing space than within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Capitalising on his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the dwindling fortune of the party of late, Senator Saraki, in the company of a co-sojourner in APC from PDP and the factional chairman of the then new PDP Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, approached his former allys, particularly the former Governor Akwa Ibom State and Senator-elect for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Godswill Akpabio, who helped perfect the strategy of winning other PDP Senators over the for Saraki candidacy in exchange for financial and choice position compensations. Saraki also brought in the embattled Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, with a promise of soft-landing. Having been sold the possibility of negotiating with the pro-Saraki elements, the PDP elected senators saw it as an opportunity to get its pound of flesh from the APC. They also felt they could make some money in the process. Former Senate President David Mark was then saddled with the job getting his colleagues together for a “retreat’ in PortHarcourt, where they did not only discuss the modalities of decimating the APC Senators. The strategy included inviting some of those involved in the fuel subsidy fraud to back them financially with a promise to ensure that President Buhari would not be able to pursue their matter. Saraki was again on ground to give the assurance that as the Senate President, no such probe would see the light of day. He further assured them that those around the president were also with them in the game. They PortHarcourt meeting also resolved that in order to ward off any suspiscion, they would continue to discuss with Tinubu and other APC excos, selling them dummy that the PDP Senators would support the APC candidates for both Senate and House of Reps in order to ensure peaceful reign in both houses. The mafia fell for the blackmail and played ball by releasing money running into billions for the execution of the Saraki-for-Senate-President project. The money, sources revealed was later shared at the Presidential suite on the 10th floor of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. In attendance was Dino Melaye, a Saraki faithful from APC. And in order to make it appear that their party was carried along in the scheming, the PDP Senators briefed their former Chairman, Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih and enlisted his and the entire party’s support for them to go along with the Saraki team. Anenih however advised them to still meet the Sunday night before the election to put the matter to votes in order not to betray one another. Of course the idea received a unanimous voting both as a result of the financial inducement and the joy of watching the ego of the APC deflated the following day. Meanwhile, Tinubu later learnt of the PortHarcourt meeting and all that transpired. He challenged David Mark with facts, but Mark lied that it was all rumours and that APC should take the promise of the PDP Senators to the bank. Well, they did and the rest is now history. Politics / Why Buhari Will WIN!!! ( A Must Read ) by investnotspend: 9:08am On Mar 30, 2015 |
Why Buhari will Win!! indications are strongly suggesting a forthcoming claim of 100% voter's turnout in SS and SE with also a 100% votes for Gej. That will amount to about 15million votes. NW & NE have 28 million voters and a true voter's turnout of 70% amount to 19.6 million. Buhari will win 80% of the votes there which amount to 15.7 million Therefore, NE & NW votes will cancel those of rigged SS & SE NC will share its votes among GEJ and GMB. fortunately, GMB is winning SW which is the determinant, Buhari will also have 25% of votes in all 19 northern states and 6 SW, that's 25 State. pls share to all BUHARIST we would be declared winner By God's grace. 1 Like |
Politics / See Why NIGERIA Needs More Prayers At This Crucial Stage by investnotspend: 8:06pm On Mar 24, 2015 |
Information reaching us says "A very senior officer with deep concern about the future of Nigeria has requested anonymity while confirming to us that the President, NSA and the Service Chiefs have concluded arrangements for military to take over government in case early election results indicate PDP's failure. The president has already paid some groups to come out enmass and demonstrate against the INEC Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega while other group are paid to cause electoral confusion in some states. The military will use these as excuse to justify the take over. The general said the military will desolve all political parties and ban the contestants from taking part in politics. In case of much presure on the junta, they have already secured interim president and vice president from North and South West respectively, he added. The coup is likely to be staged when Jonathan is already in his village for election. Prof Attahiru Jega is likely to be arrested and the junta will promise free and fair elections and an end to BOKO HARAM insurgency, the source confirmed. All well meaning Nigerians are requested to pray for this country against the evil that is arround the corners. Please pass on for more prayers". May God protect Nigeria |
Politics / Historic Election: Nigerians Go To Polls To End Three Decade Babangida Hold by investnotspend: 8:48am On Mar 24, 2015 |
In the historic election scheduled to hold on Saturday the 28th of March, Nigerians will be coming out en-mass to break a 30 year hold on the reins of power by a former military dictator, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida. Babangida came to power through a military coup that toppled one of Nigeria’s more promising regimes, that of ex-general Muhammadu Buhari and Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon in 1985. Since then Babangida has maintained hold of the reins of power directly and by proxy. The ex-president promised as he “stepped down,” “I will be back,” and he was. Dictator Babangida had handed over in 1993 to a civilian stooge, Ernest Shonekan, shortly after Babangida’s second in command, General Sani Abacha retrieved power from their stooge. After Abacha died or was killed in August of 1998, Babangida’s cousin, and adopted brother, General Abdusalami, both Gwari people (As children, Abdusalami Abubakar’s dad adopted orphaned Babangida) was made president of Nigeria. Notice the “i” at the end of the names, Abdusalami and Badamosi. Abdusalami Abubakar immediately prepared to transfer power to civilians. Together with Babangida and other members of the dictator’s inner circle, they planned a transition. Babangida and Lieutenant General Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, the Director Military Intelligence, DMI during Buhari’s time who together with Babangida plotted the coup to sack the Buhari/Idiagbon government, again together founded the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and in 1999 decided to hand over to a former soldier and pal, General Olusegun Obasanjo. When Obasanjo was invited to rule again by the Babangida-Gusau crew, he famously asked, “how many president’s do you want to make of me.” Babangida installed Obasanjo through a rigged election process conducted under his brother, Abdusalami Abubakar. Thus Babangida retained power in the fourth republic. It was decided that Idiagbon had to be killed and he was allegedly poisoned in a visit he was summoned to in Abuja. Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon threw-up throughout his journey back to Ilorin and died shortly after to pave the way for the PDP. [As regards this particular narration, I was a physical eyewitness.] Obasanjo’s regime was handled and monitored by Babangida and his men with Babangida’s right hand man, Aliyu Gusau as the nation’s NSA, National Security Adviser throughout the Obasanjo tenure. NSA Gusau is noted to have supervised the founding of MEND in the south and Boko Haram in the north. Obasanjo later handed over reluctantly to Yar’Adua/Jonathan of the PDP Babangida party; later when Yar’Adua passed in 2010 (or perhaps was poisoned for as some say, for betraying the interests of the founders of the PDP party) Goodluck Ebele Jonathan took over the reins of power with a promise to continue to deliver the nation to Babangida and co. Under Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Babangida’s men were quickly restored to all chief positions of government: Aliyu Gusau was immediately restored the the most sensitive security office, the office of the National Security Adviser, oNSA. Sambo Dasuki (Gusau’s foster brother with the duo inheritors of Babangida’s wealth by blood and marriage — Gusau married to Jamila, late Dasuki’s widow) … Sambo Dasuki, who was the Aide-de-camp to president Ibrahim Babangida was soon made NSA after Gusau resigned from the post to contest against Goodluck Jonathan and his replacement Gen. Andrew Azazi had been resigned (Azazi was killed in a helicopter crash later the year he had implicated the Babangida PDP party in Boko Haram terror). Colonel David Mark who was minister of communication under Babangida’s regime and is popularly remembered for allegedly saying, “telephones are not for the poor,” was soon made the nation’s senate president. David Mark supervised the senate and nation’s oil industry ensuring oil blocks remained within the Babangida club and the illegal kerosene subsidy with $100 million in paupers’ funds transferred to cabal pockets every month remained unhindered. After Gusau’s presidential ambition was defeated in the notorious PDP primaries that Azazi had commented of, Gusau was soon returned to the nation’s defense office as minister, to supervise the “war” against Boko Haram. Other Babangida boys like Jones Arogbofa were also returned during the Jonathan regime as chief of staff, to keep a tight control on Nigeria. It appears all Babangida’s boys simply hung their military fatigues and put on civilian garb to resume the Babangida dictatorship, civilian style via the PDP. So as Nigerians go to the polls this Saturday, they are not only desperate to try a change in government and let go of a PDP party that has supervised the establishment of terror across west Africa, compromised one of Africa’s best armies, mismanaged and subsequently privatized all public assets, gifting these to the cabal, and watched over the gradual impoverishment of the people and the enthronement of the cabal, now recognized as the world’s top private jet club; the people are also going in earnest to vote out the Babangida 30-year hold on power. Nigerians are excited at the prospects of a new dawn. Dr. Peregrino Brimah; http://ENDS.ng [Every Nigerian Do Something] Email: drbrimah@ends.ng Twitter: @EveryNigerian 1 Like 2 Shares |
Politics / Buhari Explains Why He Dint Participate In Election Debate With Gej by investnotspend: 7:49pm On Mar 17, 2015 |
The Presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu has said, if he wins the March 28 poll, he will ensure strict adherence to the constitution, saying he is now “a converted democrat”, Premium Times reports. Mr. Buhari made the pledge while addressing a media parley in Abuja today. “I want to assure you that Nigerian constitution will be adhered to,” he said. He reminded the audience of the controversial Decree 4 promulgated in 1984 while he was military Head of State. He said there will be no such controversy should he win the presidential election. “I cannot change the past but I can change the present and future. Dictatorship goes with military which made possible decree four. “I am a former military leader. Note the emphasis on former. But I am now a converted democrat. “I give full assurances to Nigeria media will be free under an APC government,” he said. Asked if he was prepared to apologise for jailing journalists as military ruler, the Director General of Mr. Buhari’s campaign and Governor of River State, Rotimi Amaechi, prevented the former general from responding, saying “the general has said he could not change the past”. Mr. Buhari said he was not ready to participate in the presidential debate with President Goodluck Jonathan, standing for re-election as the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party. He argued that there is no basis for debate since the record of the PDP and Mr. Jonathan in government is public knowledge. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar attended the media event. Politics / APC Exposes Plans By GEJ Administration To Sabotage Card Readers On Election by investnotspend: 9:19am On Mar 17, 2015 |
APC exposes plan by Jonathan Administration to sabotage card readers on election day The All Progressives Congress (APC) has exposed the plan by the Jonathan Administration and the PDP to render card readers ineffective on election day, with a view to justifying their fears about the use of the card readers and ultimately to scuttle the polls. ''We can authoritatively inform Nigerians that the morbid fear of card readers by the Jonathan Administration and the PDP has now been translated into concrete action: They have hired an Israeli, Gyora Berger, to do the dirty job of jamming the card readers,'' the party said in a statement issued in Lagos on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. ''To those who might accuse us of crying wolf, they should realize that every alarm we have raised in the past has been true, including that the Jonathan Administration was pushing for the postponement of the elections and that they are mortally afraid of the use of PVCs and card readers APC said the Israeli was hired specifically to develop three prototype card reader jammers, and he has now developed three of such jammers (25 metres, 50 metres and 100 metres range) to be carried in the pockets of trusted PDP stalwarts on election day with a view to disabling the card readers within the state radius. The party said that apart from disabling the card readers, the jammers will also disable all telephones, iPads, etc within the states radius of those carrying them on their persons. It said an an order has been placed for 75,000 pieces of the jammers at a cost of 200 US dollars per piece, bringing the total cost to 15 million dollars. The jammers will be air freighted to Nigeria next week. ''The plan is to deploy the card jammers to the areas deemed to be the strongholds of the APC, such as the North-west, North-east , North-central and the South-west. ''It is the planned procurement of the jammers that have given the confidence to the Administration and party officials to continuously boast that Buhari will never rule Nigeria, and also the reason why a chieftain of the PDP boasted last week that the card readers won't work, thus advising INEC to make alternative arrangements,'' APC said. The party said the Israeli, who has agreed to do the dirty job for a desperate Jonathan Administration and the PDP, is an enemy of Nigeria and Nigerians, who does not mind if the nation burns, as long as he has collected his pay for the dirty job for which he has been hired. It said because the opposition party has become a movement which is being propelled by the people themselves, it is difficult, if not impossible, for the Jonathan Administration and the PDP to succeed in their devilish intentions of rigging, sabotaging or scuttling the forthcoming polls. ''We have consistently said power resides in the people, irrespective of what the government of the day might think. When the people are determined to vote out any government, no amount of money, evil plots and shenanigans can save that government, as the Jonathan Administration will find out in two weeks,'' APC said. I have never seen a sitting president who is dead afraid to face an election especially when he claims he has transformed his country positively. Out of the fear of losing, he postponed the elections ,out of the fear of losing he rejects the PVC and card reader which he introduced for the elections. Out of the fear of losing he now visits Lagos and Borno state bi-weekly. Out of the fear of losing he began to fight Boko Haram . Out of the fear of losing he has began to listen to the youths. Out of the fear of losing he runs from one church to another--then Mosques. Out of the fear of losing he now bribes anybody he comes across---- yet even with all these,he still fears the INEC chairman jega and wants to remove him, the same JEGA the PDP said few months ago ; his name meant Jonathan Ebele Goodluck Azikwe. I wish elections where held yearly in Nigeria , it would make our politicians sit up . Out of fear of election , he's now suspecting PDP chairman , out of fear of election , his wife had incited violence! Out of fear of election he let the goat eat the Yam! Vote wisely vote for #change #Apc vote for #Buhari/osinbajo 3 Likes |
