Some people dont like change, but as change is inevitable, they are doing everything to frustrate it, even killing people. I prefare a good man to rule and let bombs explode, than an evil man to rule and for 'Graveyard peace' to reign.

And for those thinking they deserve to walk into big job positions in Indian/Arab owned companies, well I think you guys need to wake up from your daydreams. How can you be so mentally lazy as to assume that just because you are Nigerian, you will be given preference over their people?
These indians built their companies, what were you doing then, jumping around the globe while foreigners are digging gold at your backyard. You guys dont realiize this, one day you come home and discover there is no space for you here, all the lands in your area have been used for one giant estate owned by a Pakistani!
Just be ready to pay for rent in your father's village.

I am really loving this trend but please I would be glad if anyone in Nigeria could please let me know what I can earn in Nigeria and how it will be spent using the fomat below.i am a normal guy who wants to relocate and continue living my life in Nigeria happily.

I am not looking to forward to 2M per month and I'm not really bordered about bad roads or poor power supply as I have only lived in the Uk for just 6 years, all I am worried about is my career and earnings  in about 5 years to this time .

Below is a snapshot of my present situation and as u can see it's not looking very  great and I am not ready to be involved in any illegit activity.

I would  also appreciate comments from naira land members in the Uk who might know a better way of addressing this issue rather than relocating.

Thanks

Thanks to all and sundry for the invaluable advice given.

For all those Mumus who think that we are all abroad washing dishes or cleaning streets, it actually strikes me as backward thinking because there is dignity of labour in the UK.

This is one of the experiences I hope to bring back home. Be proud of whatever you find yourself doing , and do it well with integrity and honour. This is how genuine employees get promoted to higher positions.

Obviously the likes of invisible would rather be employed in yahoo activities rather than earning a proper income. Sad to say the least.

As for me, I refuse to go into details, but I am confident that Nigeria is the place for me in the interim. If perhaps the elections go well, then there is no doubt that I will be relocating on a permanent basis with family.

I have spent my time here in the UK, gained good qualifications but most importantly acquired a vast amount of experience, primarily on soft skills and work ethic that I know will be an invaluable asset to contribute my own quota while at the same time making a little more $$$$$$  grin

By the way I mean it when I say the greedy are never satisfied , lol. smiley

Bros, you are very correct, the greedy are never satisfied, even if given a N2m per month work to exhibit their 'soft skills'.

The same way you ran away before? Soon we insert 'escapist' as your middle name. My grand parents stood and defended this land am standing upon, they fought off invaders from all corners and built a prosperous future for us, we shall stay here and carry on the fight against corruption, violence, tribalism, rigging and lastly intimidation by internet featherweights who think we should hop around on one leg because they have made a small money, the type of amounts we dash friends.

thats the point exactly 'your experience' I've lived in UK for 15yrs, don't know anyone with a menial job, have family here, none have menial jobs, have friends here, non have menial jobs, when we 1st came it was different, we all had menial jobs! but as u progress through life things change so as u rightly said it's all about who u know and what pt in their life u know them. wink

This is a top contender for the 'lie of the year' award.
Go on, tell us that no Nigerian has ever done any menial jobs, you dont know anyone who does? Yeah, I hear that top CEOs stand around Heathrow waiting for Nigerians arriving to recruit and give them immediate appointments into management positions.

Well prince, let me put it this way since i am "in a dream".

I come across Nigerians who do well and those who dont in the UK. There isnt a bias to any direction.

They say birds of the same feather flock together. Maybe you need to review the people you hang out with or the areas you move around. If you dont know anyone in the UK who is doing well, then please you need to review your situation as you are moving with the wrong crowd.

My post highlighted 2 sides of a situation and you choose to only focus on a single line? It means you have some personal issues you are battling with. Maybe you feel inferior and oppressed?

Maybe you arent a Nigerian at home who is doing well. I have friends who live in Nigeria and have a wonderful lifestyle and can afford all luxuries people who live in the UK can afford or have access to. These guys dont have a complex like you seem to have.

Blige, I don't live in Peckham, mix with ppl who rob others for a living. You really need to get some help for your trust and anger issues. You read like an angry, embittered person. I visited Peckham a few months ago after about 10 years. I do not have friends who live there nor aspire to live there. In Nigeria, I don't know anybody who lives in Ajegunle nor aspires to live there. Does that mean I am a millionaire? No! That said, I am aware that Ajegunle is responsible for a high percentage of talent in the Nigerian media, music and creative industries. Try and be happy. Life is not that bad.

So, just because you live abroad, other person's points are sad, bitter and sour? This is your life, FYI, the OP is the one asking to come back and not the other way round. Cant you

What utter rubbish.

There are IT Telecom Jobs in the UK that pay between £55k to £70k for senior engineering/project positions before tax , and these are permanent positions  not contracting.

When you add the benefits, plus salary and bonuses , can you imagine how much it all translates to in Naira. undecided

Moreover the OP might be returning as a Nigerian Expat with dual nationality,  and so will demand a higher wage based on the conveniences of life.

Who in his right mind will return 'home' without adequate accommodation, security and water. Madness if they do.

As   cou-gar rightly said, the security in Nigeria is in shambles, there is absolutely none, except of course you can pay for personal protection.

And what about school fees if the OP is married for instance ? In the UK it is free, in Nigeria it costs millions of Naira a year. Should this not be taken into account ? undecided

Summary is this, do not expect a Nigerian expat who earns lets say £30,000 a year in the UK to ask for the same in Nigeria, he MUST obviously ask for more because the risks, stress and inconveniences are just too many.

How come its the scammers, pro.sti.tutes and drug peddlers that come home with the money? These jobs/guys you described only exist for some nationalities, and Nigerians there wash their cars and mwe the lawns for 7.25 dollars /hr and log on nairaland to get that important 'feel good' effect neccessary to keep them off suicide.

As for me, just as someone is from say imo state but working in lagos or abuja,
that is exactly the same way i am from there but working in London.

I dont see what the fuss is about relocating especially if you visit home regularly.
I actually travel to the east more often than people living in lagos.

Without going into the pros and cons of living where ever, i'd say each to his own.
If you are obsessed with moving back then give it a go, if not try your best to eck out a good living where ever you are.

I'd say that there are quite a lot of factors that interfere with trying to live a normal life in nigeria.
it simply takes way too much effort to make the simplest things to work in nigeria, but then that could be just me. . . .

Its not the same, naija is naija and london is london. Can you come back and stay in naija on a permanent basis, thats the koko.

@ viewlekan

some good points,

but in my opinion many of nigeria's problems can be solve without splitting. it just seems crazy to me that splitting will be the answer.

@ topic  if you ask me splitting nigeria is ones personal motive. okay tell if you split nigeria what would you do next. you will go after the problems that your new country has such as infrastructure, education, violences etc. so why cant you do that with nigeria right now? why not just go after nigeria's problems and fix them. basically splitting is unnessasary.

In Nigeria now, its impossible to enforce national security of lives and property, the police, army is controled from the centre. You try as a state govnor to change things and it may never work. (ask Abia govnor) Someone may be pressing outside buttons from the federal level. Regional policing may be better.

Kobojunkie:

Nigeria is not working because it is not working at the bottom level and what keeps bubbling up to the top is all that crud that didn't work at grassroots level.  Splitting will only make this even more obvious to those who cannot see what is right in front of their eyes today.

At the community level, you get about the same thing as you get on the national levels. . . . leaders selfishly plundering and leaving the community without. There has never really been a time in our history when this was not really the case. It only becomes more and more pronounced when you move up to the national level. I am sorry, the idea of sharing a country with some of those community morons promoted to national leaders. ***shudders***

I see your point, corruption is a serious case everywhere but halting these killings will be a priority. Saving innocent people from violent death is an immediate concern. By the time the nation is slashed, regions will find home brewed solutions to their problems. Dont forget, out of the 'nations' that will spring up, one or two may do very well, which beats this quagmire we are inside.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Needs To Split Urgently! by invisible2(m): 12:37am On Dec 27, 2010
The only way Nigeria may survive is if we come together and work for the common good of the land. Avoid ethnic politics and killing of one another. Improve security and foster good relationships among religions.
But right now it seems too much to ask, and I think what wont work should be discarded quickly so another will be tried. Nigeria is not working, may we try another thing?
