GAR3TH:

like i said before splitting doesnt solve anything. what do you gain, nothing.

If you want to solve a problem you should go after it, dont Blame, dont avoid, just go straight to the problem and solve it.

nigeria isnt as bad as you all have brain washed yourselves into thinking. its actually and investment heaven, that will turn into an economic power house.  why do you think that international investors are flocking to nigeria. I'm not taking about resource investors like shell, i'm talking about investors like Spar, Kfc, Eko Atlantic, etc. investors that will put money in the peoples pockets and not the government.

If you recall The nigerian stock market fell dramatical because international investors thought that nigeria was going under a military coup while infact it was niger. imagine what will happen when the nation splits.

More reasons we need to split, our investment climate was improved by one southerner, and when the banks took off and were dominating the sub region, one northerner stood up and said it was all fraud. He locked up people and alleged that a different accounting method is now fraud while he also lost money in his own bank.
The north are not comfortable with a prosperous south and will want the south to wait for the north to catch up.

GAR3TH:

but how does splitting the nation solve the killing? thats what i said before, you'll just draw a white line on the ground but the killing will continue.

if you want to solve a problem you dont avoid it like you guys are suggesting, you go after it. be implementing a real security present in the region and not the joke security force that we have now in jos.

The killings will stop when the nation is split, do you know how many Yoruba, ijaw, ibo and tiv people that will be killed by this last attack, if they know they are killing their people, they may not be so brutal. They cannot travel to lagos and kill in a divided setting. Policing will be stronger in a split nation, strangers wil leave, those ibo boys in the police will leave (they are afraid now)and housa boys will prevent their brothers.

really, sorry you just failed. what about power & electricty? so killings is your #1 priority

-----

nairaland is just a website full of hypocritical, tribilistic, posters. that is why i hardly post here.

can anyone give me a real reason why nigeria should split?

So, power and electricity is now more important than human life?
Its good you hardy post here, saves us the torture of knowing we have insensitive Nigerians trying to justify their numb senses.

GAR3TH:

i think you ment to write shouldnt.

anyway if nigeria splits, your problems will still be there. you wwont solve anything because all you did was draw a white line in the ground. how would splitting solve our power problem or corruption. if there is a problem you go after it, and you dont do something as silly as plit.

ex. there is a house on fire, what do you do. instead of solving the problem by calling the fire department or getting water, you decide to argue who started it. you then decided which furniture belongs to you and which belongs to you roommate. mind you the house is still on fire. so what do you gain? nothing your house is till on fire.

and for the fact that you said nigeria hasnt changed since independence is pure ignorance. nigeria has accomplished many things. yes nigeria is not developed but it is developing. we has has a steady economic growth through out this decade and we are witnessing the rise of the middle class. if you continue i could easily spam this theard with articles and data that nigeria is developing.

I must say I agree with some of your points, especially the ones about Nigeria developing gradually. But all those pales into insignificance with any soul lost for avoidable reasons, killed by sane, innocent looking fellow citizens who are showing no signs of change from the days of 1966 pogroms. The blood of the innocents is crying unto heaven, and if the only way to stop this madness will be to cut this nation, I will be happy to provide the knife.

lol no wonder people call nairaland a joke. R.I.P. to does that died but that doesn't institute a nation splitting.

No sir, we should ask for a genocide to decide a split, submit three members of your family to boko haram to slaughter!

There is no continuity of land from Bayelsa to Akwa ibom/Cross river if Igboland extends to the sea as you stated in option 4 above. I hope you know.

I must confess, my geography is rusty an I didnt look at maps, that will leave us the option of throwing bayelsa to the ibo side if they will agree.

Five countries, namely
1. Housa fulani
2. middle belt, kogi, benue, edo and yes, delta (for the sea access) a true minorities world.
3. Yoruba
4. Ibo and some part of rivers (for the access to sea)
5. other parts of rivers, bayelsa, cross river, akwa ibom and a few christian towns from nassarawa,
Politics / Re: Do Nigerians Need To Learn Chinese? by invisible2(m): 2:42pm On Dec 26, 2010
GNaija:

@Invisible, it is about need. Even Nigerians don't conduct national business in yoruba or any of the other nigerian languages so how would it help the Chinese to learn yoruba? Nobody is saying every nigerian should learn Chinese, we are talking about key people, particularly those who represent vital national interest like the multi-billion dollar oil deals that have been recently signed with China.

Thank you, since even Nigerians dont do business with Yoruba language, they do so in English, chinese nationals in the same vein do business with English, we have a common language and dont need to learn more.
If we must understand them, lets look for our people who lives there, dont be surprised some Nigerians born there may be speaking Mandarin more than some chinese, this is a non issue really. Something we dont even need to know about. The whole nation dont need to learn chinese, let those who need to learn it, and life goes on.

This is normal African mentality at work here, Gbagbo will love to blame the
north,
Quatarra,
AU,
ECOWAS,
UN,
USA,
France,
the electoral body,
Nigeria,
Johnathan,
Obama,
Sarkozy
any nearby person or structure
anything but himself and his selfish ambitions, next he will blame it on juju! Thats our way of reasoning. Till we call the man in the mirror to order, we shall continue to suffer.

The hell it was.

Actually, African leaders HAVE succeeded in bringing CONSIDERABLE DEVELOPMENT to the continent in their 50 odd years of independence. Look at you for instance. You are an educated person likely living in a sturdy home with computer access etc, courtesy of African rule, rather than being a hut dwelling peasant courtesy of British rule.

The British left you with a 6% literacy rate after a 90 year rule, meaning statistically that were they to still be in charge, that figure would be no more than 20% today.

(Meaning that YOU would most likely be a stark illiterate peasant today, not some prat who comes in here to insult Africans on a keyboard.)

Compared that to the 75% you have today in Nigeria after just 50 years of indepndence.  The Brits left you with one or two roads in Ikoyi and a couple of GRAs, compared to the thousands you have today  all over Nigeria, whether or not many of the roads have 'pot holes'. (Better than NO roads and NO cars as was the case under colonialism)

They left you with ZERO universities compared to the 100 you have in Nigeria today.

They left you without virtually ZERO electricity, despite ruling for 90 years. Today, we may have power shortages, but by God, it is a darn sight better than NO electricity at all.

Malnutrition, Infant Mortality rates have dropped year on year across Africa, since the end of colonial rule.

We have a lot to be thankful for about African rule, despite its much heralded imperfections.

Most of our ''daddies'' here lived under NIGERIAN rule. What you should say is 'ask your grandparents'.

Our grandparents were ILLITERATE and starving, after 90 years of British rule.

Do you know the infant mortality rate of Nigeria was 252 per thousand in 1959?

Today it is 91 per thousand.

That's called IMPROVEMENT under black rule.

You are the one who wants to WORSEN THAT by calling in WHITE MEN to help you kill MORE of your people in their MILLIONS (not hundreds like in Jos).

Did you forget the railways?
Actually, the improvements in education was not as a result of our leaders, but job scarcity. Back in the days, infant mortality and health was in serious trouble, but blame it on illiteracy and ignorance, not on the Brits. Our urban planning was in order, not now we have rogues selling govt land to their friends.
The blacks lack the ability to rule, they only love doing what Gbagbo is doing, perpertuating themselves in power at the detriment of the masses, ask Eyadima, Idi Amin, Mobutu, Mugabe.

If you were bright you would realise that Africa twenty years ago had about 15 - 20 wars raging at once, a figure that is down to about 1 or 2 (if that) today, meaning TWO THINGS:

1) Improving African capacity for conflict resolution, and

2) Declining incomes for the world's major arms dealers, AND natural resource looters and profiteers.

From this angle, I see your point better now. I cannot rule out the possibility of outsiders starting a war down here just to sell weapons, BUT, it will not be Barack, Sarkozy and Ban ki moon pressing the start button themselves.
Arms manufacturing companies themselves can start a war easily in our porous Africa without the help of the American govt/UN.

You are the one with no working brain.

You are the wicked, corrupt, senseless person here.

You are the one supporting FOREIGN involvement in an African dispute, something you KNOW will lead to massive loss of innocent African lives.

You have an inferiority complex which is why you do not see such foreign interference in African sovereignty as an affront to the continent.

It is people like yourself that will lose an election, and then hole yourself up in a hotel, then call in France or Germany to come in with their weapons and funds so you can kill millions of your people in order to gain power.

Which is exactly what Outarra, the IMF he-goat you support, is doing.

And then you have the temerity to talk rubbish about 'African leaders'?

Talk about YOU.

Your sell-out, slave mentality, and that of others like you, IS the real problem.

After the war ends and 4 million are dead, you will have to start rebuilding again.

Meanwhile the people you called into help destroy your country - USA and France, though still rigging their own elections, are smart enough to not let any outsiders into their inner circle, and so their lands continue to prosper despite their corruption, even as you endlessly rebuild your shattered infrastructure - all because you stuppidly invited outsiders with no interest in your welfare to 'help' you.

Pardon me for thinking that way sir, after watching our blundering, fumbling and bungling African leaders trying to get an erection for more that 50 years without success, I have to think those foreign powers have something we dont, we even made a mistake for allowing them give us independence. Life as a foreign colony was much better, ask your daddy.

As for them wanting us to kill each other, you may be right since we so much hate our own even in situations the white man is absent (Jos, Zango-Kataf, Abakaliki, etc) when you call your brother a 'winch' outsiders will help you burn him.

What african leaders dont understand is Weapon dealers have gone broke. since africa nation have stop blowing up shit4.,

Weapon dealers are broke. So they need you people who they consider stupid3 to go blow up shit4 , so that they can sell thier weapons to you.

And I still say so that Nigeria dont become victim of weapon dealers. Nigeria needs to remove Edo,delta and Yorubas into Republic of Benin for peace sake. before the election.

And the need to open up the border of republic of Benin now. because there is a treaty in 1889  between france and Britian about the border of the republic of Benin and Nigeria, that treaty  state , that Nigeria benin  border must be open at all times.

Weapon dealers have really gone broke, after selling millions of tons of ammo to fight the Iraq war, Afghan war, Isreali invasions of Gaza and Lebanon etc, your logic is as good as Rossike's, no wonder he agrees with you.

Egyptians have had a stable country, and stability is the most important thing for any nation, BEFORE SO CALLED DEMOCRACY.

That is why stable nations like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Morocco (who are rukled by a king!) and others do not have elections worthy of the name, but have not disintegrated into war and conflict in consequence.

THAT only happens when WESTERN nations get involved, and decide to support, arm, and finance the ''aggrieved side'' in disputes, in order to FUEL CONFLICT from which THEY can benefit.

Stability better than democracy?, well yes, especially now. We need to tell Goodluck to cancel our elections and sit still for another 20 years, then we get stable and try to see if we can hold an election in Nigeria. Rossike for president!

@ rossike, are you serious when you said Gbagbo cannot anticipate the number of voters to expect, does that country have a census figure, a voters register, and an immigration record? If you say yes, then it is possible to anticipate and prevent such rigging in the north since he was in charge of security all along.
Stop the insults becaause you dont have any points, African leaders are corrupt, wicked and clueless, Gbagbo is no different, using foreigners as a fall guy will not help him. Meanwhile, what took him so long to hold the elections if he has no skeletons in his cupboard. We can blame the whites as long as we like, it wont help us till we learn to love our brothers, to lose gallantly, to consider human lives above other selfish self interests. I am also tempted to agree with one poster here who suggested the woman and maid are lesbians, crazy as it may sound, just think of this.
This married woman has been looking for a house help since she is pregnant and works, this woman had an affair in a secondary school boarding house with a junior 'school daughter' and they used to 'do' themselves till they get to cloud 9. This woman bumps into this girl in a supermarket and saw an opportunity to enjoy herself once more, this time she will pay her. She will think the young girl cannot 'do' the man since she belongs to her.
I want to join the Nigerian police, I could solve some crimes with these theories, buhahahahaha.

Exactly. It is about being able to understand what the Chinese are saying during trade negotiations. Yes, Nigerians can get translators but how would you know if he/she was not misleading you?

Prof Chan has represented African countries in trade negotiations with China, so, he know what he is talking about. Please let's listen and learn rather than argue pointlessly.

You must be kidding, so, the whole nation needs to learn Chinese just to be able to understand what they are saying during negotiations? How many negotiations happen between Nigerians and chinese. We have been importing and trading with Chinese nationals since forever, who taught those ibo boys Chinese?
What we need is to organise our business sector and strnghten our economy so it will be competing internationally. So a chinese can desire to learn Yoruba, and not the other way round. (inferiority complex no good o)Nigerians that need to learn chinese can do so without making too much noise about it.
