tensor777: Business, professional reasons, what about emotional, psycholgical reasons borne out of years looking into loathful stares of people who think you are the cause of all of humanity's problems? We used to sing this song when we were little; Miri zobe, zobe Anwu chawa, chawa Agaghim aba 'n ulo onye kporom asi. Meaning even if there is rain storms so strong even if the sun is melting the earth I will never run into the house of those who hates me! I wonder if the quest for pleasure will make you stay in the house of a people that hates you? |

martinosi: So, Zenith bankers, some of them first degree holders in different fields are now the political and economic experts on African issues? Most of our problems are self inflicted, bad leaders who seized power then and weak/corrupt leaders who still lack the courage to do the needful. America is a parasite, and any other foreign power will do the same. But their influence in our political affairs are very minimal. Go on and tell me they were the ones that told our senators to be demanding a 200% hike in salaries, or that they advised Ibori to steal govt funds or killed Yar Adua or stifled NEPA? Michael Hudson is an expert like millions others. He has just one opinion, and there's nothing to show he is right. He is just selling his tapes, books and surviving like lots others. To lean on his opinion is mental laziness, use your own head. After the civil war, Fredrick Forsyth wrote a book on the wr, but it was as far as he understood, the foreign world bought his own version. If you want a deep understanding about the war, ask the players like Alex Madiebo, Hassan Katsina, Theo Danjuma, C Ojukwu, Obasanjo, and many others. Time for us to believe in ourselves than thinking the white man has superior brain and is always right in everything. You will believe Hudson, and disbelieve Okonjo-Iweala or Sanusi. I Pity you. |

Because rich guys can afford a girl or two on the sides and cannot disturb madam every day. Because rich guys can afford to travel and stay away for weeks or months on business and so intimacy time is spaced out. Because rich women wont like anything to disturb their career or business, they space out child bearing. Because rich guys dont like having more children they cannot take to study in US or UK, and leave a plot for him in town as inheritance. |

rotimiland: This fool is still grasping at straws, sink like other defeated comerades of yours, drown for Gods sake! Nothing can save you now. The same dilapidated stadiums you mentioned is where Mary Onyali started from. Okocha JJ and Taribo west started from Enugu stadium, Mikel Obi started from the dusty pitches of Jos, Ikechukwu Uche also started here, countless Nigerians are still swaeting it out and will make it in a Nigerian attire. Our sports federation are not the best, but its not perfect in Qatar too. Place one foot wrong and you are hacked to death with long, shiny, curved swords by youths shrieking "Allah Akbar" One day this fooll will come back, and demand to be appointed athletics administrator in naija, and will expect other Nigerians like Mary Onyali and Sunday Bada to step down for him! Trust Nigerians to show him shege, like we made the other fool to find out, Mr. John Fool Fashanu. Its no skin off my nose if anyone decides to change country, but dont come rubbing it in our faces, just stay away and enjoy yourself, like am doing mine. Nigeria will get better. |

@rotimiland, what you need is English lessons, comprehension seems to be your biggest challenge. A person said, "I pay only 945.00 as light bill per month" he doesnt mean he underpays by his own making. He only means he is being under-charged by Nepa. How is that my own fault? For you to use that in concluding who is a rogue and who is not is rather unfortunate. Please read comments well before you fly off your handle. I dont just survive in Nigeria, I thrive! If that is your grouse, then take a flying nose dive into river Qatar! |

The problem with you guys is you get annoyed easily and start calling names, even when you might be a bigger cheat over there. Seun is the most unpatriotic type of people. And if you support him, you are a shame to your people. This is a person that sold his soul because of money. Where was he during the olympics when Nigeria won nothing? If Hussain Bolt ran for Quatar, will the Jamaican flag have flown so high? You are happy he made millions, and will die a second class Quatarie, abi na Quaterian sef? Please, I beg to be understood, we make good money from young people's stuupidity. In my area, young boys are selling their lands and other possesions to raise money to run overseas, its a hype, a craze, an expensive fad. They see a few that returned with good cars and flashing their money around and they will never settle till they go. We help them buy up their assets and bid them bye as they leave. We love lands especially, and buy them very cheap, the boys always sell in desperation and disappear. They hope to strike it big and come back to opress everybody with their new cash. Some make it, and others dont. But We keep our lands, and if you need it back, pay x 10 of the amount I bought it from you. I always tell them there is nothing in Nigeria, they shoud go and make money outside the country, and they are doing just that. Its a callous world, the greedy will always surrender to the wise. Thats the joy of capialism. |

@ buzugee, afraid catch me o! I wish our leader remain in ignorance of those taxes. In Nigeria, you can; buy a car and drive it home and pay nothing in taxes, only payment will be reg. Number. Buy a house and pack in, you only pay the land owner, we dont even care to document the transaction in a land registry. Those that do understate the purchase price, you can write 100k as purchase price so you pay only 1250 naira as stamp duty and registry fees for a land of 15 million. But if you dont register it, no wahala, e no concern anyboby. You can draw your plans and build your house with your direct labour, no inspection fees of approvals from engineers or govt. Who even thinks of building insurance? We see it as waste of good money and we dont do it (99%) of all houses here. You can sell and buy shares in any company and not pay a dime in capital gains tax. Just pay transaction fees and go and enjoy your loot. Interest tax in banks is around 10% you can pack your car anywhere (even double park sef) and if anybody try you, call police for am. There are no speed limits in naija, the only speed limits here is the almighty potholes. You can use any amenity free of charge, if you know how to, I know people who have never paid light bill, but they enjoy light everyday. You can build ten houses and fill them with tenants, collect rents and chop everymonth no problem. (most landlords dont know anything called property tax) 1 Like |

cap28: Cap, be rest assured of one thing, I can buy you up anytime anyday, and have change left. But what can I do with a deranged dog foaming in the mouth for Gods sake? Talking with you is a waste of productve time. When you said the civil servants are being owed for years, it became clear you last heard of Nigeria since 1986. You are not saying adamu cannot save again, but he cannot be paid. You are pathetic. Those Nigerians sleeping at embassies are like you, lazy, ill-informed and greedy for an easy life which they believe will happen immediately they land at Heathrow. They will become you, ranting from the web, still frustrated like always. Your life will never change, untill you look for your roots and pay back the money you stole to travel, your past is still haunting you and you may die from guilt. Your uncle you stole his goat says I should tell you to come home, he has forgiven you. |

@ cap28, if not that I just repented few seconds ago, I would have talked to you in a manner you will regret. You dont know anything about Nigeria, you are so far away that you should not be browsing this forum, please try chinaland.com. Most civil servants in this country have built their own houses, either in the village or in town. Here, building houses is the single most important investment we make. With an average income of 50k, you can build slowly till you finish. How can a sane person say adamu cannot save enough money to build a small two bedroom affair in this Nigeria? Even okada riders and barrow pushers build houses these days. This shows the way you bellitle us. And how can adamu not afford to do his floor with any type of wood he chooses, with all the timber growing wild from Sapele to Ogbmosho? Which building materials must he import from outside, cement from Obajana, sand from the bar beach, stone from Abeokuta, wood from behind my house, aluminium from Alo aluminium Onitsha, workmen from every street corner. Nigeria rokks! People here are doing great, I was at a small boys house this afternoon and was marvelled at his house finishing, this is my boy o. His dupelex cost him like 10 milla to build, and he is just a spare parts retaier in one of the lesser known markets. When people like cap28 comment on issues, they expose their ignoramus! Just hide your face in shame. |

debosky: What do I care if they give me electricity or not, so far as nobody comes nocking on doors to collect any money, they are safe. In Nigeria, communites now contribute money to build hospitals and pay doctors to work there, the ministry of health can go to blazes. There are private schools to cater for you from nursery to your third degree, the education minister can go take a hike. There are all shapes and sizes of generating sets for companies and homes to choose from, who will be stooopid enough to depend on nepa? Nepa charges like 6 dollars per one house, (even if you own an eleven bedroom duplex with BQ behind it and a large supermarket for madam in front of the house. All for 6 dollars per month!) Is that why I should get annoyed because they takes my light? Communities sink boreholes on their own and maintain them, most homes have wells, plus there is still compounds where taps still run, and the water corporation is none the wiser for it! Just free water! Most roads are bad, but we still gather on weekends and repair the ones leading to our houses the best we can, and drive on it without incident. Damn the ministry of works. All am saying is that it will amount to double wahala for us to pay for those amenities and the thieves in govt embezzle the money like you know they will. Better for them to leave us the way we are, freedom is swee sha. Even for those small businesses, some have removed nepa cables totally and mounted lister generators. |

tommi34475: I think you have a point there, what I have now is a collection of 8-10 stories in my mind which am sewing together to make one novel, but if I decide to seperate the stories, how commercially viable will it be.? Like breaking the book into ten stories of 20 pages each. I am still writing the story and will do a lot of polishing when the story telling part is done, I will add sweeteners and spices to it, I may even add maggi, curry, salt and seasonings to sweeten the stories. Lol. |

It amuses me that some people who have never done anything good for their country/people will be expecting miracles from the outside. It is our duty and responsibility to contribute our own quota to the betterment of our country, we have no other home. Instead of calling names and blaming the govt, can we just look around us and see how we can improve our surroundings. Pstylish seriously jolted me with his patriotic post, and I was asking myself, what can I do today to help Nigeria. I have made four calls now, slating four meeting aimed at some activities that will improve my surroundings, I am not waiting for any govt. If I have risen as far as I have now without govt support, why should I wait for them now. I salute your courage pstylish, it shall be well with you. I will check out your site next. |

@pstylish, which schools did you attend, I will love my children to go there in future, lol. His post above summarizes my point, we know we have a govt, we know they are inefficient, we cannot afford to wait for them, we are taking our destinies in our own hands, we are now the new govt, providing our own light, water, education and security, this is the new thinking, till things change and most serious youths are now thinking this way, providing an alternative power base that is getting stronger by the day. One day we may get strong enough to stand up to the thieves in govt. Anyone who wants the govt to fry eggs for him is wrong, it will not happen here, so look out for yourself. Dont go living under a bridge if you are a girl. |

AjanleKoko: Truth is, you hate the truth. For you to say there are no jobs in Nigeria is unfortunate. Taxi drivers just started making real money in naija, there are thousands of new taxis bought by state govts on loan, which they are paying down. One guy told me he finished paying for his own with one year left in the contract, thats amazing. I can compare a taxi driver that makes up to 10k daily (will pay 3k to bank loan)with his counterpart in the US. Only that we love to look down on our own. Research before making conclusions. |

That story you pulled out lacked merit, it was just laced with sensationalism aimed at capturing the weak emotions of weaklings like you. The world is harsh, and I have never seen anyone in the developed world wo denies that ra.pe, torture and murder is not more prevalent in foreign lands. Watch some crime stories on the cable (if you can afford it) You can go on as you like, or borrow some money and visit naija, your life may just be turned around for the better. |
