I have very huge plans for 2008, will travel hme for xmas with the latest hummmmmmmer! You will see. |
Just move into stock market tips for nigerians thread and you will be in the university of shares! Happy trading. |
I wont touch any loan with a very long pole, always despice the free lunch, there might be strings attached. |
My broker told me to steer clear of Globe re till next year. |
@ Naijadr, I gave up PP, PO, IPO etc since I discovered that the issuers usually have another agenda different from raising capital for business expansion. They also unnessarily tie up your money for months with no consideration for interest. The secondary market has been my hunting ground for upwards of a year now. |
I dunno what to do now, my wapic ins. has added just 10% and my target is 25& before I sell. Now am trying to sell it at 105 profits and jump into UBA with the money, how soon can UBA give me 25%? |
Read somewhere that investors in Globe reinsurance PP will have a long time to wait before they know their fate. NAICOM has refused to recertify them and there is some confusion as to the real situation of things. Any Globe shareholder here? |
End of story, agreed. |
@ Tobaaro, I really have nothing against the NSL shares but I am not buying them for now, reasons; I rarely buy what I dont understand. Istill dont know which people are the core owners, the business profile, the risks, the market for their products etc. Sometimes I agree you just have to take the plunge and, invest first and ask questions later, but some times you get burned big time. By that time you find out you are on the wrong bus, heading to the wrong direction. Can somebody break down NSL for us? Is it a good one? |
@ Father of 2, the correct number to be used in IPO'S is the all numeric number. Even trade alerts are sent to me with the all numeric number. The alpha numeric number is the identification number with which your broker is identified, but if on the other hand your broker tells you to use it, fine we'll see who is right six months down the line. |
@ ola, you no wan make them chop sallah ram? How them go dey celebrate and still be trading on the NSE? Na wa oo |
@ Windywendy, I hope you are not planning to abandon us here for the rest of the year? cause you said 'see you in 2008, please, you have not given us your five top picks for next year. @ All the gurus, do the young ones a favor by giving us your top five picks for early 2008. Just regard it as an xmas gift to us. We are starting from windy, over to you pretty baby ![]() |
Yeeee! So Blest, na you de tiff all these shares these gurus have been recommending? Ah, I will join you next year to the multi billionaires list, insha allah!, see you by this time next year. |
How possible/ easy could it be to have only one bank collecting all your dividend warrants, (even if you have up to 100 stocks). How could we address this situation so we don’t have to be visiting the mail daily and avoid the ‘very efficient’ NIPOST, where mails are delivered the very next day and mails never get ‘stolen’? |
@ Samstone 4, please explain to me how that e-dividend you talked about works, is it the same thing as directly crediting of your bank account with the dividend? |
Sorry ooo, dollyp1cute, but since you said you don’t live in naija, how would you receive the dividends. I think them warrants are sent to Nigerian mail boxes and collected to be cashed in Nigerian banks. Does any other person have a contrary view? |
@ Roughcut, welcome back home ![]() |
I would have liked to travel from NIGERIA to GERMAN, using TRANSEXPRESS flight. But the flight was ADC airlines, so I contacted NAHCO to do my baggage; I also noticed that the window of the plane was made by BETA GLASS. An official of TOURIST COMPANY was around to get me a nice car; we stopped at OANDO for some fuel. When I came back into the country, I stayed at IKEJA HOTELS. The next day I was at FIRST BANK to make some cash withdrawals, but I missed my atm transactions at GTB. Thereafter, I went to shop and bought some 7UP products, generators from AG LEVENTIS, clothes from ASABA TEXTILES, books from LONGMAN, pillows from VITAFOAM. I remembered that I should paint my house in the village, so I visited DN MEYER for some paints. I will also buy WAPCO CEMENT since it is cheaper than DANGOTE CEMENT. Stopped at BIG TREAT for some bread, and then noticed that JULIUS BERGER was doing roads that were awarded to COSTAIN, how come? I ran out of cash so I breezed into OCEANIC BANK, and saw a friend there. He worked for CADBURY and married a lady working at MAY & BAKER. We went out to mr biggs, owned by UACN. My friend wanted to have some maltina, a product of NIGERIAN BREWERIES, but was instead given a GUINNESS malta. There were adverts on the telly, AIICO INSURANCE were doing offer for shares, but my friend liked ZENITH BANK offer better. As we were leaving, a truck belonging to NIG. BOTTLING CO. was in our way, so we did a detour, came out of another road in front of UNILEVER. |
@ Father of 2, I think the correct cscs number to use in po's and other places is not the alphanumeric number, because that is the clearing house number. Since you are not doing any clearing activities, you are only interested in the numeric number as this is your account number identifying your from your broker. As the shares are to be credited to your brokerage account in your stock brokers custody, the numeric number will be more appropriate. This is what my broker explained to me. |
@All, I think the best thing for me to do, (taking what has happened in FCMB as a guide) is to resist the urge to buy zenith po, and instead to wait and buy Zenith from the secondary market, after TS is lifted. That way, I avoid the long waiting time for PO'S and also benefit from the stocks end of year results. |
As we all thank God for a good 2007, let us also remember that 2008 will come with a different tempo, the strategies that worked so well in this outgoing year may not work very well in the coming year. I am dedicating the remaining part of this year to thank God first and secondly to develop new strategies that are in tune with the Nigerian market. Let us not bury our heads in booze and chopps alone, but spare some moments to think out more plans and strategies that will daze the market as 2008 sets in. God bless all of you ![]() |
Linkage assurance is still picking value, did close to 5% today. |
@ Blue band, you wan give some people heart attack? How you go say FCMB wey no reach N20 lose up to N1? Abi madam Ndi don change the 5% rule? |
@ aktopgun, how do you see buying some managed funds for the lovely kid. I am saying this in anticipation of the fluctuations that normally happen in stock prices, as against mutual funds which are more resistant to the ups and downs of the market. I am looking at a 20years horizon for the kid, how much money do you want to surprise him with, or his tuition fees at Harvard will come from today’s investment. |
@ No shaking, I will remember to keep some good cash always in the coming year, we call it opportunity money. |
@ Naijadr, I agree NGC will go down a bit before firming up to 28, but remember that they don’t always release their results in time even as their yr end is December, their normally release full yr results around October the following year. Can you wait it out till then? That is why I would have loved to play Diamond and UBA short time before getting back to NGC.(will sell now after doing a 150%) and will be back into NGC. Only thing that worries me is the stock is not very liquid, took me almost two weeks of harassing my broker before he got me around 50k units. Can I still get it easily? |
From what I can see now UBA is still the most attractive banking stock. But the price is dropping, which even makes it more appealing. This is really interesting as the stock will surely rebound in a very short while. |
Both diamond and NGCare in my horizon also, buy I think Diamond will be better considering their expected Q3 & Q4. As for NGC, I am feeling the current price is very close to the target fair price of around 28 naira. Not too much space for profits if you ask me. |
@gurus in the house, how do you ppl see Wapic insurance, is it a good buy at N8.45? |
Its very commendable what the guys and babes in this forum has been able to do in the past few years. Nigeria is surely getting better, what with the human capital, (most of them hidden) but thank God stocks is bringing you out of your hiding places. This is my first post and I will try to keep up with the pace here. Long live NSE. |
