hello house...ive been here for a while now reading through the posts to help me make my decision btw Canada and Australia.i initially wanted to try the Australian route but the requirement for lawyers is really daunting, so i decided to switch to canada since i dont need to be admitted/licensed as a canadian lawyer(hope im right tho) to be eligible for immigration. please i need someone to help put me through the WES thing, i have created an account on WES but i have a few questions
1. is WES the appropriate body to assess a lawyer's credentials?
2. i chose western union as the payment route but i just noticed i have to pay in dollars which is a far cry from the CAD-NGN amount i initially did, omo i no fit o. Can i change my payment option? also can anyone help me out on the best way to go about this WES payment? i will register for IELTS this week and send my Law school and University transcripts this week too.

Any tip will be appreciated wink

May we all be successful IJN.

NB: where's d champagne *in Falz voice* to welcome me grin

i just found out an exciting piece of info grin grin, i previously thought and as a result posted here that i needed to write IELTS before i could even have my documents assessed but i found out now (from rereading the rules for legal practitioners) that i only require IELTS for admission to practice law, not for assessment, turns out assessment is a prerequisite for admission. well God-willing when i reach there i'll have a go at it. so am guessing the next step is assessment? pls can anyone help point me in the right direction?

cc: Johnsontade bros i need your help again o

NB: am considering other alternatives to IELTS. A test with ease and lack of human prejudice will be just fine. cheesy wink

I don't know anyone but i think its pretty lengthy and the requirements are high. NNBB2012 posted a pomsinoz thread link sometimes ago when someone else asked a similar question.

You can read through here http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/211160-solicitor-applying-visa-189-skills-assessment.html

Thanks! Now I think I hv to busy myself with getting an aggregate score of 8 on the IELTS. undecided

1. Check if your occupation is on sol or nominate a closely related occupation that you can prove. Also check the quota percentage to know if you still stand a chance. You can search for occupations and assessment info on www.anzscosearch.com & Dibp site.

2. Write English test (PTE, IELTS, Toefl) based on your preference and your skill assessment body requirement.

3. Check your assessment requirement from your assessing body and submit your application providing them with the necessary documents.

4. Calculate ur points based on your situation. Info on this can be gotten under skilled worker visa section on www.border.gov.au just go through the site and you would see all relevant info.

5. Submit your EOI if you have up to 60 points and wait for invitation.

6. Lodge visa and make payment after invitation. Frontloading medicals, PCC and form 80 may help fasten ur processing.

I dont know any Lawyer and i dont think you need one. Every info you need is at your finger tip...all you need is personal research and also take time to read through this forum as well as Australia PR threads on expatforum.com.

PR application is treated on a personal basis and no lawyer or agent can guarantee you the visa. Just do the right thing and u will get it.

Thhank you so much. You have been most helpful. What I meant really was if you know any Nigerian lawyer that has successfully migrated under PR. I checked d SLAA's requirements for the admission of foreign lawyers and the IELTS requirement is staggering a band of 8....and writing must be 8. God save my dear soul with d kind of examiners I hear they have at British council cry

It has to be the exact exam they want. EA for example accepts only IELTS & Toefl but dont accept PTE.

Ok. Thanks...I know what am abt to ask has probably been dealt with previously...but my problem is finding the page. So pls can you put me through the steps for the non sponsored/nominated Permanent residence or point me to a page where it was listed here?
Additional info for. Lawyers will be appreciated(if you have it) thanks again wink

@Johnsontade if your Assessing Authority says you have to score. A certain score in IELTS must it be IELTS or will any other test they accept suffice? I.e SAT/TOFL?

DavidEsq:

If I remember, the recruitment was done after the tragic and woeful event that followed the whole initial recruitment scam. The Presidential committee did the recruitment which was a travesty of due process, since its the Immigration Board that is responsible for recruitment. So if the recruitment is being faulted and the recruits sacked or fired or shot sef, isnt it clear that there was nothing to validate the recruitment since it was done by an unauthorized body? U can't smtin on nothin and xpect it to stand.

Pls I hope you realize there's something called the doctrine of necessity and it's relevance to this situation as it applies to the setting up of the presidential committee? I hope you do realize also, that the law is more of the exception than the general rule? So do not mislead the public who ultimately look up to the legal profession for clarification.

Goodmorning all!In the name of God we should not allow one thing or the other to keep allowing us to be exchanging words as if we are kids that still needs to be control. We are here to help one another with informations and how to go about it and not to force anyone to pay for job or be scam. That is why some remains quite and dont want to give out their own information because of argument. Please we dont needs to provoke those that are using their energy and money to get us informations. We all are brothers and sisters,so we should maintain that peace among us plz.

Well...if Efosa was just disseminating info...I assure you that no one would bother him. I hope we all understand that impersonation is a serious offence? So what we should be asking ourselves is: If he isn't a cadet officer why will he say he is and to what end??
All he needs to do is establish that he's a genuine cadet officer like he claims to be...and everything will be fine. I don't want someone to come here and deceive innocent pple!

NB:pls leave God alone...If you were really God fearing...you won't even utter a single word of insult...Now you think that by calling God people will be bullied into silence and won't question you? Smh! Nigerians and useless sentiments. Oga answer the questions please!

Its actually the #400 recharge card that got me thinking too, and if its only a call to you that would make you travel all the way to Kano to collect appointment letter? Well man,its well with you...

Walahi! Truth be told anyone who truly wants to help you will help you without collecting a dime...or collect the dime after you've received an authentic APL not before....I hope the poster realises this before the man asks for #750 credit angry

Good, i was not shortlisted though, buh i am desperate to get a msg for the APL, so i started calling my relative to inform them on my plans luckily for me one of them have a very good connection which i didnt know b4, i got connected to the man (i wont disclose the name here), and the man told me to forward my details without collecting a dime than a #400 recharge card. he further to tell me that some names will release this nite, friday and monday is the last day.

A well connected man who is ready to offer you appointment with the NIS asks you for 400 recharge card Nna this is what Fela meant by "wonder wonder...wonderfullumenti"! On a very serious note stop deceiving yourself and other unsuspecting nairalanders...I hope you know that by now all the APLs have been signed and sent to kano, orlu and Ahaoda? I have this on very good authority!

Yeah I would have...but sometimes you owe yourself a duty to speak the truth. It's really funny how some people convince themselves that they were better than others with that kind of English. Even if we were all geniuses(which is not exactly the case) NIS will still not take us all. There are a thousand ways to contrive an excuse for failure/ill luck(well..i had to add that, since they are now forcing us to accept it's sheer luck that got us selected)..but this is just below the belt biko!
