No the law school doesn't count because with your law school certificate you can only practice law in Nigeria. Now if you had the law school certificate obtained in Canada then it would count because it means you can then practice that profession in Canada. Other examples include writing their pharmacy qualifying exams and obtaining their pharmacy provincial license to be able to practice pharmacy in Canada, obtaining their engineering license to become an engineer in Canada, Canadian medical license to practice medicine in Canada etc.
Thanks Zandora. BTW my transcripts will be sent tomorrow. Atleast I can concentrate on IELLTS after tomorrow. grin

What question?

thanks it means then that i just need to score really high in IELTS to give me a score of over 450.

@ Zandora and JesusDway pls eh on the cic-crs website there's a provision for if you "have a master's degree or an entry certificate that allows you practice/entry into a profession like law, chiropractic etc" Now doesnt it mean my lawschool results will count? or hv you had any experience here to the contrary? coz that option gives you 135 marks for education o.

This one. Thanks.

I expected to ace the L, W and R modules. The Speaking part I wasn't sure of. Let's say I just didn't expect 8 for writing.
By the way, 39-40 will give you 9 , and 37-38 will give 8.5 , so I think you're doing fine.
Keep practising.

I'm writing the GT module...is the marking scheme the same?

I wrote the Academic version of the test last month, and I got the following scores:
Listening-8.5
Reading-8.5
Writing-8
Speaking-7.5
Overall-8
IELTS looks daunting before preparation, especially the writing aspect, graphs and all. However, as I came to realize, with ample preparation, the test is quite easy.
Ensure you practice all aspects under EXAM CONDITIONS a minimum of 7 times. .the real exam won't be strange at all
That was my 1st attempt by the way
If you need tips and pointers, I'd be happy to share waht worked for me

100% accurate. Any inaccuracy would stem from the quality of data entered by the applicants (human error)

Congrats Zandora.....All the best in your new job.

OK. ...so I've been silently reading the controversy raised about the Ontario provincial nominations. Wanted to wait till this time before I made my own contribution. I would advise anyone who wishes to take up the EOI and pay 1500 to please go ahead provided you can provide all documents to defend your application.
Sincerely it took a whole lot of patience from me. Over 6months after submitting my application to Ontario, I got my nomination today.
It was a gamble but it paid off. Considering I might have to keep looking for how to increase my points from 414 which wouldn't have earned me an ITA going with the trend of Draws done. Thanks to Ontario. I can afford to dash out 500 points now .....lol.

....the vision is yet for an appointed time, though it tarries, WAIT FOR IT!!!!

Congrats dear.

Are you sure your calculations are right? Check them again. Meanwhile, the fee for transcripts in each school differs and as such, you have to find out what your school's is. You can use FedEx for courier, it's about the cheapest and it's very very effective, costs 10,100naira and gets there in 3working days. You should print the Transcript Request Form from WES website, fill your part and give school to fill their part, you should also include copy of your certificate with the transcript and send everything together. Use your ATM to pay on WES website and make sure it's WES Canada website you use, and the one for 'ECA FOR CIC'

Meanwhile folks can also use fax to send copies of their certificates(not transcripts o!) to WES but ensure you quote your reference number on it if school is delaying with transcripts.

Walahi I don't know again o. My bill is 233.91 CAD are there. Other hidden charges? Meanwhile to process my transcripts from my school and courier to WES will cost me about 25k. Pls help me calculate d other one properly. Also how do I go about writing my WES num on my certificate as I already have a scanned copy of my cert in my mail? Im kinda confused about where else I should write my WES number apart fromm d envelope. Any Ideas?
@Zandora I thank God for you. Congrats.

@ JesusDway and Zandora pls I want to start the WES process today but I need to know d cost of sending the documents and which one I should use. I also would like to know how long it takes to get there. A checklist of the documents to be included and the dos and donts will be appreciated as I'm exploring d possibility of not being there physically to process d transcripts.
I've raised a draft in favour of BC yesterday and I'm in Anambra ATM, how do I go about completing d payment/registration process? I also need to know d documents to include ASAP.
Thanks.

Nope I meant d req for lawyers in Australia. This is d 1st time I'll be writing ielts. Pls share d ielts bomb abeg. Raised d draft today. Pls is there an office(not center) in Enugu? I'm already moving. Forward with my assessment o

Ok no qualms, but I think 5th is the earliest.IELTS GT is billed for 5th & 19th March.I have checked on their portal.if you take the 5th let me know.have a great day

Yeah...saw that too...I finally registered last night will go and raise a draft in favour of BC today. Hv u paid? What materials are you practicing with?
@jesusDway pls does WES hv a fixed charge for assessment or is it per Document? Reason am asking is because I included my lawschool certificate in my order and I was billed $233.91 CAD so now that am not assessing the law school cert...does my bill change and also can I just send only my Bachelors in Law? Hope I won't be delayed or asked for d law school cert considering it's included in my order?

Walahi those pple sha...mine is 8, 7.5, 7 and 7. They should just kuku come out plain and say they don't want us to come undecided

Don't bother sending Law school transcripts, it wont fetch you any extra marks, your school transcript is sufficient. Meanwhile, it's your present work that matters more when you are applying, not majorly the course you studied. Even if you are a practising Lawyer, you should find the equivalent of what you do in Canada, its called NOC(National Occupation Classification), that's the work your application will be based on. Your level of qualification, IELTS Grade(you must not score less than 6 in any of the segment but know that you need far more than scoring 6 if you want to stand a good chance. You should aim at scoring the highest which is Band 9 abi it's 10), Age, no of years of work experience, etc, are what your assessment will be based on. Regarding payment for WES, you can look for the option of asking someone over there in Canada or US to pay for you with their credit card while you bargain with them the naira equivalent you'll pay them provided you can get anyone of such(that's for those who needs to use the naira)

Thank you so much for that tip. Means I'll only send it to the legal profession admitting abi licensing body when I get there. I still need to ask: Shebi I don't need to go through d hassles of being licensed to practice law in Canada till I get there? Coz that one won't work o....lol. I called my account officer and he said I can pay the way you guys suggested. The earliest date I've gotten for IELTS is 5th of march PH. Well by then WES would hv been done. Means I can only open a profile in llate march. It's well. When you say current employment what if I resigned last year? Although the scope of my work experience is covered under the duties for 4112 lawyers and notaries.

1) Yes it's WES
2) You can pay in Naira at Western Union but you'll select the option of the beneficiary receiving it in dollars. The Western Union exchange rate wouldn't be the same as the black market exchange rate. Have you tried going to the Western Union website to check what the naira to dollars exchange rate is?

Thanks Zandora for d prompt reply. I haven't actually and I didn't complete d payment form (the one dt redirects from WES' registration page) so what can I do now? Start a fresh payment process or not?
Also pls I'd like to know if any lawyer has been successful with d FSW programme or atleast attempted it. I sstill do not know if its necessary to send my Law school transcripts for evaluation? Anyone with knowledge on this should help me out.
Thanks.
