justicia: @iphie25 nd all. Pls is it compulsory to use the IQAS transcript request form when applying to my University for transcript? thanks in advance
Oooh sorry for d late reply...walahi I thought I had replied o Well...yes it's compulsory, pls make sure u fill and sign ur part and ur uni does abeg. Cheers.
Pls can someone tell me how long it takes for IQAS to verify results? I was sent a mail of receipt of all my documents on the 27th of June. Till date, I am yet to hear from them and no email address on their website to contact them.
It should be ready by now...however write a mail to d mail address of govt of Alberta u will find it on d contact us or feedback section.
I stumbled on this forum/thread and I am quite delighted about the information I have been able to gather. I am a Lawyer with 5 years experience at a commercial practice in Lagos and I am interested in relocating to Canada via the Express Entry route to further my education and to also gain world-class experience. I have perused the CIC website and I have a few questions which I hope experienced members of the house can elucidate upon;
1. Is my Nigerian Law School qualification considered a professional qualification in order to earn points in the level of education section?; 2. If question 1 above is in the affirmative, do I have to submit my Nigerian Law School certificate for a Educational Credential Assessment?; 3. Which assessment provider is more efficient for law degrees, IQAS or WES?; 4. What is the success rate for Lawyers migrating?; and lastly 5, What opportunities are available for lawyers migrating?
Thank you very much for the anticipated responses and I look forward to engaging and learning from members of the house during this journey. Cheers!
Don't bother about sending ur law school degree. Pls send only ur LLB to IQAS, that's what I did. Save ur B.L for NCA registration/assessment. For Q. 4 & 5 Justicia will do justice to them

Hi optionese, First of all I want to say again dt IQAS is d only evaluating body that understands foreign law degrees, concludes d evaluation in record time and is cheaper. For ur first question...IQAS recognises dt Nig has direct entry programmes for Law and it's four years. I'm thinking it'll be written on ur transcripts dt it's a direct entry programme u came in thru. But to be on the safe side you can attach ur dip degree or request for ur transcripts and also explain to them in a written note. For ur 2nd ?....yes your age, work experience and ielts are d determining factors. If ur less than 30 or at most 32 you should get good points. If. U hv 3years work experience and try to score atleast 8777 in LRWS in IELTS your scores should be well over 450 atleast. If u v any queries...don't hesitate to ask.
muyiwaojo1: Please how true is this... That IQAS is not Canada wide? I just paid to IQAS for my ECA. And I'm looking at applying to other provinces. Does that mean other provinces other than Alberta, Saskatchewan, and NWT, will reject IQAS?? Please I need to be sure.. Thanks
Im wondering how this would be true. Aren't PNPs a part of EE? CIC has approved those orgs so why will other provinces reject them? IQAS is for d uni of Alberta so is ICES and ICAS for govt unis too. Well I didn't go d PNP route so I can't really say.
Ladon7: Has anyone used IQAS for cert evaluation, pls if ubav, kindly share ur experience.
Yeah...I used IQAS and I hv no regrets whatsoever. It was faster, cheaper and gave a more accurate assessment than WES (in my case)so I'd readily recommend it to anyone except you have a non-uni certificate like ACCA...then I'd suggest you go with WES but if It's a uni cert you want to evaluate say Masters or Bachelors...go right ahead with IQAS. Goodluck
I am about starting my journey with CIC however I want to do my ielts nd verification of certificate but I have the below challenges nd would need help pls
My international passport is still in my maiden name, my masters certificate is in my maiden name, the name am known with in my office is my maiden name even though i hv done change of name nd paper publication, the challenge is should I go ahead nd register for ielts nd do cert verification with my maiden passport attached? Or I hv to travel to Abuja to do a new m passport in my marriage name? Pls note I hv a family of 3
Thnx for yur response nd God bless you all.
@ all pls can any1 shed light on how to go about this Qatar visa cos i got d mail to attend the NB info.session slated for 13/07/16
You can do everything in ur maiden name just remember to attach ur marriage cert every step of d way. Also the new Immigration CG has mandated state commands to start processing change of name applications. So just go to any immigration state office(not d ones in d LG o) and change ur name. Goodluck
angelmelly: hey iphie25 how far have you gone with your application? hubby and i are thinking of applying, he is a lawyer and since our laws and canada isnt the same. am abit skeptical if it will work. or how it will work even though i see lawyers are listed in the list of skilled workers needed.
It'll work...first send ur uni certs to IQAS they evaluate law degrees better than WES, it's cheaper and faster too. Don't be sceptical mbok it'll work. Hv u guys written IELTS Yet? How many years post call experience ddoes hubby hv?
yinyinola: Hello everyone. please is it possible to get professional qualifications like acca verified? I have enquired from iqas & was told they only deal with academic institutions like universities. I would appreciate it if anyone who has verified a professional certificate can advice. this enquiry is for my sister who also has a degree in accounting. I was wondering if there is a body that assess both degrees & professional certifications. thanks in advance.
Yeah WES evaluates ACCA certs from what I've heard.
justicia: Hi All. Just wanted to find out if IQAS is still evaluating LLB as Masters. @iphie25 and all. And do i need to send my transcript or just LLB Cert. thanks
Yes IQAS still evaluates law degrees but not as masters biko. It's as first prof degree which is equal to a first prof degree master's degree. Yes you need ur transcripts with all d forms. Very important.
nadina: Good Morning Everyone. Glory be to God. I picked up our passports and COPR today. I want to specially thank Duppy who took out time to answer all my questions, even at odd hours..lol. Zimex and to everyone else who contributed in making my Canadian dream a reality. May God bless you all richly.
I believe you do have a copy of your transcript as it is needed by IRCC when you get ITA. Did you ask school to duplicate when it is ready or applied for it twice? Or since IQAS only ask for photocopies as indicated on the form, did u collect the original and ask the school to send photocopy with their stamp on it?
Thanks a lot for the time.
IQAS. Isn't asking you for ur transcripts, they are asking ur institution. So you have to fill d request form from IQAS and ask ur school to send d transcripts in d manner specified. I applied twice. Depends. On u relationship with d officer there. You aren't meant to have a copy of ur transcripts sha
muyiwaojo1: @iphie25, thanks for always explaining this ECA thing... I'm about paying for IQAS, but I need few explanations.. Pls if u can put me through, I will be very happy. As I don't have a mark sheet requested by IQAS, what should I do. All I have is the certificate and d transcripts that's not ready yet. How do I go about it... Pls my email is muyiwaojo1@gmail.com will be looking forward to hearing from u... Thanks
Pls you don't need any mark sheet. All you require is to fill and sign the forms, send forms to ur uni, keep ur own forms, get a copy of ur degree cert and int'l paSsport ready put them in an envelope and ask ur school to courier them to IQAS with a signed and sealed envelope from the school containing ur transcripts. Pls read their website carefully b4 u send to avoid stories dt touch
muyiwaojo1: Hello everyone, please I need your urgent help. I'm about doing my evaluation via IQAS. Please what steps do I need to follow. Unilag says it will take 6 weeks before it gets to Canada. Can I go online and make payments for IQAS, and how much is it actually. On the website, I saw that d application fee is $200,and courier fee to an address inside Canada is $15 and outside Canada is $75 , does that make it a total of $215 or $275. Secondly, do I have to make payments online first, and then generate a reference/receipt nunber, and then give the reference/receipt number to unilag to put on my transcripts they are sending to IQAS? Finally, am I sending a photocopy of my certificate myself or I give it to unilag to add to my transcript and send them all together to IQAS? I hope I can get a response here ASAP. Thanks and God bless us all....
Yeah you can pay. The fee is 275CAD. Yes you can put otherr documents and forms required in a separate envelope and send to unilag to add and courier together. I did mine dt way.
I wanna know if a law graduate who is yet to attend law school but has been working for over 3 years(after graduation) as a litigation officer in a law firm be considered under NOC PARALEGAL.
Thanks
Litigation officer?? Well since you haven't been to Law school I consider paralegal a sufficient title since you can do most things as a law graduate.
I'm trying to see if I can get my bank letter but Ivee been locked out of my GCKey-CICc account. Pls has anyone experienced same and how did you get it resolved? Tomorrow is d 60th day
yinx007: I was about to say the same thing.. ITA is difficult to get currently.. so upload your current wes and attch the new ECA to your LOE as an additional document... pray over it and send it down
Ok...but I think it may not work again I didn't get the Bank letter o. Chai! I decided not to go again to d bank. Well let d will of God be done. Can I send that one tru CSE?
Loka0512: Please house is IQAS fee in USD or canadian dollar ? I am having a problem, as my bank has limited online payment to 200 USD a day. Kindly advice.
jugzy: So I stumbled on this on the internet yesterday.
Cut-off scores will "likely drop below 400" to accommodate higher draw size. Focus on 2 mins clip between 16:30-18:30 for clarification on above points.
dupyshoo: If those are the only concerns you have, then I think you will be better off waiting for your peace of mind.
I think he just wants more money. If he refuses to help, let me know as I think I know someone who might be able to help. You might even decide to go there yourself. So, this should not be a problem at all.
Yeah don't mind him. Thanks dear d one I hv is. Valid till July. Let's hope I get ITA before then.
I am tempted to tell you to use this ITA because of the current trend of draws for the past 3 months. It is however a gamble as you might be fortunate that a nice case officer will handle your application and will not mind the new ECA. If you decide to go with this ITA, my advice is for you to to attach the old ECA with a letter of explanation that you were in doubt about the old ECA and hence had to go for another evaluation with a different body.
However, if I were you, as I am not a good risk taker, I will wait. Your score, 478 is not bad. It is inevitable you will get ITA within the next few draws. Just relax and start building your POF. It is not even how early you submit as there are people that got AOR since September but are still waiting for PPR. While, someone on this thread got her PPR within 28days.
Hope you are not going to lose points due to birthday any time soon?
Very Objective. I've even prepared an LoE for it and was going to attach d WES ECA. Well my next bday is April. D only thing I'm going to lose is d time on d police report and jimoh is unwilling to do another one. Says it's too stressful and I dnt want to spend more on d PCC thing again.
