PoliticsRe: Jonathan Lists His Legacies In New Jersey by iretiland: 10:52am On Apr 23, 2016
neolboy:
Former president, Goodluck Jonathan yesterday touched on some of the legacies of his administration while speaking to Friends of Africa Coalition on “Strengthening Democracy and Elections” at the mayor’s office in Newark, New Jersey, United States.

Speaking to the elite group, Jonathan said the 2015 general elections in Nigeria had potential for major crisis and that the campaigns leading to the elections almost polarised the country into Christian v Muslims and North v South divide.

The former president said that most world leaders were worried that the elections would result into major crisis.

“Some pundits even from here in the United States said that those elections would spell the end of Nigeria and that we would cease to exist as a nation because of the polls. That is where the leadership question comes into play.

“As a leader that was duly elected by the people, I considered the people’s interest first. How do I manage my people to avoid killings and destruction of properties? With the interest of the people propelling all the decisions I took, we were able to sail through. Indeed, we sailed through because I refused to interfere with the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, having appointed a man I had never met in my life to run it.

“My philosophy was simple. For elections to be credible, I as a leader, must value the process more than the product of the process. And the citizens must have confidence in the electoral body,” he said.

Jonathan said his strict adherence to the rule of the law ensured that Nigeria’s peace, prosperity and progress were not derailed by the conduct and results of the 2015 elections.

Speaking on the other legacies of his administration, he said: “I am proud to say that while I took over a Nigeria that was the second largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $270.5 billion in 2009, I handed over a Nigeria that had grown to become the largest economy in Africa and the 24th largest economy in the World with a GDP of $574 billion.

“I inherited a Nigeria in which the trains were not working, and handed over a Nigeria in which citizens can safely travel by trains again.

I inherited a Nigeria that was a net importer of cement, and handed over a Nigeria that is a net exporter of cement. In 2009 the richest Nigerian was the 5th richest man in Africa, but I handed over a Nigeria that produced the richest man in Africa.

“These are but a few of the parameters that illustrate some of the economic transformations we engineered during my term in office.”

The former president said this success was made possible by the fact that there was a stable political leadership in Nigeria that did not have to pander to any other constituency except the electorate who brought him to power.

Jonathan also argued that if the process that brought leaders to power “did not flow through the people, they naturally administered their governments to first and foremost serve the constituencies that brought them to power.”

Jonathan also met with the CEO of Moskeeto Armor, Robin R. Crespo and his team as part of events leading up to the World Malaria Day on
April 25th, 2016.

Moskeeto Armor manufactures clothing to protect against malaria, the zika virus, Denue and other vector-borne diseases.

It was successfully clinically field-tested in Nigeria in 2014.

When worn by children as a standalone product, Moskeeto Armor was 90% effective at reducing the malaria infection rate, and when combined with a bed net, the Moskeeto Armor combination was 97% effective at stopping the spread of malaria.

The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation is partnering with Moskeeto Armor to protect African children against malaria and other vector-borne diseases.

“The simple principle of ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself’ lays a foundation of commitment to protecting nations,” said Jonathan during the meeting with Moskeeto Armor.

Continuing, he said “these crises caused by such small insects, transmitting these deadly diseases, have devastated so many lives across Africa and the world, but with one just as small idea, there is hope for a better tomorrow.”

Talk of a man without brain, no conviction, no sense of purpose, no direction, a surbodinate of his own appointees including his out-of-control wife.

You wrongly listed your legacies. Intelligent Nigerians know part of your legacies to include: worst ever president, disaster of the chibok girls, unprecedented level of corruption, general werkness as a human being that makes you less than a man.... the worst thing that ever happen to Nigeria.

This Deji Adeyanju has some level of reasoning difficulty. It's either his IQ is very very low or he is as corrupt as his co-travelling PDP people. The party he is supporting practically turned his own kins (the Yorubas) of Kogi state to fifth class citizen less than human beings. Buhari is his least problem, he needs to get some brain and understand that politics is about service to the people and about feeling their pockets in the Fani-Kayode way.
BusinessRe: The CBN Governor The Problem Of Nigeria Or Are We Getting It Wrong? by iretiland: 8:41am On Mar 30, 2016
Afro3:
If not for the commitment, resoluteness and expertise of Emefiele, Nigerian Economy would have been in comatose today with the fall in Nigeria's major source of revenue, the Oil.
Under Godwin Emefiele, Nigeria's Economy remains the best in Africa, and one of the very few amongst OPEC's members who have stable economies.

I was approached to join the protest against Emefiele, I initially agreed because I will do anything as a patriotic Nigeria to help save Nigeria. But is Emefiele the problem of Nigeria? Is Emefiele the reason why the price of Oil has fallen? Talk about Bank Charges; which country will you live on the face of the earth and not pay for financial services rendered by the Banks and Federal Reserve responsible for managing its Currencies?

Emefiele is not a Yoruba Man, does not mean he is weak or is not a professional.  Under the professional leadership of Emefiele, one of the strongest and most reliable banks in Lagos and Nigeria, Zenith Bank got to its height, and this successful achievement recommended him for the CBN job.

Everything Emefiele had done, he did with requisite approvals from appropriate authorities as a law-abiding pubic servant. When Goodluck Jonathan's Administration requested for fund, after Due Process, to equip the Army to curb the Boko Haram Insurgency, would Emefiele who saw how Boko Haram was revenging Nigerian Economy in the North East say no?  After the release of fund was it the duty of Emefiele to follow the Presidency and the Army to the market to buy arms and also follow the Army to Sambisa to ensure that the arms were bought and used, no?

Emefiele secretly employed children of the rich without advertising? We just discovered the CBN needed specialist skills and got approval from the Federal Character Commission NOT to advertise and instead to do targeted head hunts. And this is very common in both public and private institutions. Emefiele also got the Commission's Clearance Certificate after the recruitment because they supervised and ensured the FCC principles were followed.
Moreover the names of the Rich whose children were employed were less in number compared to the names of those also employed who are orphans and who are of common backgrounds.

If I may ask, is the daughter of Atiku or Arase or others not Nigerians who have right to employment in the CBN if found to be qualified.

What is the meaning of EMEFIELE? So many people like to call this name everywhere and in everything. EMEFIELE, is like the African Tortoise, no story can be complete without the mention of the role of tortoise. Those who make profit on genuine business will hail Emefiele, those corrupt businessmen who have been buying dollars at N196 CBN price and sell to Nigerians at N400, those who have been buying dollars for payment of school fees abroad and those importating toothpicks with cheap dollars from CBN have met a brick-wall, so they must lead and sponsor protests against Emefiele.

If I were President Muhammadu Buhari I will reappoint Dr Godwin Emefiele again, for humble, meek, committed, dedicated, loyal and patriotic professionals like EMEFIELE are rear and difficult to find.
May the Almighty God, the most gracious continue to use Emefiele to articulate the economic policies of President Muhammadu Buhari so that we can begin to enjoy a stable economy and the CHANGE we voted for....

The writer is as clueless and brain-dead as Emefiele. These are the illiterates in our society who thinks that because they can write grammar, they should becregarded as educated and informed. Their dullness knows no bound.
For anyone to give any credit to Emefiele with his roundabout monetary policies means that person is worse than Emefiele. And Zenith bank remains the bank of compliant looter onbNigeria's resources through thiefing politicians. Emefiele was brought in as a reward for helping launder the looth and to also facilitate Dasuki's work for the PDP at the last election. This useless writer should be Secretary to committee of dullards alone for his leaking brain.

I suppose this is Charles Novia of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign. Together with this accused woman, they belong to the class of "only us" must live life to the fullest even if others are dying. Else why not allow the court to decide? But in their world, the life of the dead doctor and his family including the children doesn't matter a penny. Let the court decide after listening to both sides of the story.

As you can see, you lack the brain to understand all these stuff, and that's why I have continued to advise you to get a good functional education. Your level of knowledge is not good enough for explaining issues to humans. People like you use boldface to explain what they have no clue about thereby affecting the society negatively. You deserve a fully funded scholarship to get some quality education else you will destroy yourself.

Anyway I don't care. Both should resign.
While the clueless kemi is giving the highest priority for her mumuism
Like I said earlier, you need to get a functional education. In a human society, the Central Bank and Finance Ministry perform different functions and one does not need to agree or otherwise with the other. If Kemi speaks about the CBN's policy roundabout, whatever she says carries the same weight in the ears of the CBN gov with whatever and uneducated mind like yourself says. Those whose words carry any weight with the CBN gov are referred to as the Monetary Policy Committee. Therefore, next time it is announced that this committee will be meeting, hire someone with to explain to you what their decision(s) is(are). You have no right to say someone is dull, because you don't even KNOW anything..... therefore you should use that adjective for yourself. People like you can't hardly identify intelligent people because you are full of hate and also lacks basic education, irrespective of whatever educational certificate you may claim to hold. Sadly, many Nigerians are like you and that explains where this country find herself today.

Misappropriated priority. And mischanneled contribution.

You should be addressing that to the finance minister by name kemi who in her foolishness and unprofessionalism is trying to ground this economy to a halt.
To attribute what is happening in the economy to Kemi Adeosun shows how very very very small your knowledge of how economic principles work is. You need to first go get a functional education before you talk in a society. At your present level, Kemi Adeosun is too high for you to comment about.

This SC Judges are a disgrace to the concept of society, the santity of life and the principle of fairness. To say they are corrupt is an understatement. But then, how much can any serious minded individual expect from a group of judges appointed by GEJ. Except PMB can find some direction for his administration and thereafter find ways of constitutionally replacing them, Nigeria will continue in this path until some time into the future.
I believe the same judges are waiting patiently to receive the case files of Col Dasuki, Olisa Metuh and others...... so that they can set them free.
With these SC judges in office, Buhari is fighting a lost battle against corruption....... especially since they have Saraki in the Senate to help frustrate PMB in the area of enacting required laws.
PoliticsRe: Buhari’s Body Language No Longer Working – Fasehun by iretiland: 6:25pm On Feb 10, 2016
alcmene:
Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Frederick Fasehun, has bemoaned the present state of the nation under President Muhammadu Buhari, saying Nigerians are not getting the reward for voting the president and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) into office.
Speaking in an interview, Fasehun who said Buhari’s body language has failed said he (Buhari) was able to instill fear into Nigerians during his rule as Head of state because of the fear Nigerians have for the military.
“Nigerians who cheered the president before the elections are now jeering him because things have gone from bad to worse.

“I think Buhari’s body language is no longer working. He was lucky to have ruled this nation as a soldier and every Nigerian fears the military government. His own military government was particularly dictatorial so we thought maybe now as a civilian president he will bring in good governance and probably change.
But some of us believe leopards don’t change their spots and this is what we are getting”

“We thought Buhari will come in and make everybody smile.
That was why Nigerians cheered him when he was coming in but now we are jeering. Things have to change for the better.
Nigerians must have food on their table, they must be able to pay their house rents.
They will have stable electricity to illuminate their environments, school fees will be paid easily, minimum wage will be paid and so on”.

“But tell me, which of these things I have mentioned have we experienced since Buhari came into office? It may sound like criticizing him but we are actually telling him that so far, not so good”.
“He still has more than three years to go so there is plenty of time for him to change. I am happy that the leaders of this country that have spines are telling those in government that this is not what Nigerians expected”.

“We all know things were bad. We didn’t expect things to be worse. Some Nigerians are jubilating because the dollar has appreciated to almost N300. That clearly shows that there is no improvement in our situation”

Also speaking on the loots recovered by the Buhari administration so far, Fasehun said Nigerians deserve to know how much has been recovered so far and the monies are being spent.

“Daily, we hear that people are returning billions as a result of plea bargaining but Nigerians are not seeing the effect of that money. I believe he will do better if he shows us where this money is being paid and how the money is being spent” he said.

Know2020:
This country is finished!

Let me see the twit that will invoke GEJ. GEJ left office with naira to dollar at 210 and today it's 313. WTF? GEJ inherited naira to dollar from Yaradua at 165, it stayed at this rate +/-15 for 4 yrs, it was only towards the end of 2014 that we began to see fall in naira largely caused by those who are bent on sabotaging his achievements to make sure he doesn't get re-elected. Compare dollar to naira lost in value under GEJ from 165 to 210 within 4-5 yrs span...that's very reasonable. However under Buhari from 210-313 in barely 6 months? This is disastrous...an invitation to anarchy. Same goes for fuel scarcity, there was never a fuel scarcity under GEJ except for his last few months in office, again largely perpetrated by the same very savages who are bent on making sure he never got re-elected.

You noticed how yorubas are quiet all of a sudden? Because their sister Kemi Adeosun is at the helm of the finance. Had this drastic dollar free fall happened under Iweala? Oh lord...they will be calling for her head not even resignation. They are already making excuses for Fashola to downplay the expectations on him...see 3rd topic now on front page. Hypocrites!
Yorubas are intelligent enough to know that Kemi Adeosun does not control monetary policy. Obviously people like you don't understand this basic idea since you spend your illustrious time learning how to hate people of a different extraction from yours.

I support Prof Soludo's claim that her knowledge of economics has become rusty after functioning in administrative and non-operational positions at the world bank in the last many years.

That she used her mothers saga for glory when millions of naira were paid to ransome her speaks volume of her level of humanity. The Govt she served as deputy C-in-C was so bad in securing people's lives, hence the reign of kidnappers. And while her mother was ransomed, did she and her banditry-like govt of the dullard GEJ cared about other people's loved ones who were kidnapped because of their failed security apparatus.
