OOU PRE-DEGREE ADMISSION FOR 2013/14
APPLICATIONS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates
for admission into Arts, Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy,
Science, and Social Sciences Programmes of the Centre for
Continuing Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-
Iwoye.
THE PROGRAMMES
The Pre-Degree Programme (I) is two-semester each of 15
weeks duration, designed to prepare candidates for
admission into degree programmes in all disciplines of the
University.
The Pre-Degree programme (II) is 10months intensive
coaching designed to prepare candidates for A/Level in
WASC and Cambridge as well as IJMB examinations for
admissions into Direct Entry in any University.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS INTO PRE-DEGREE
PROGRAMMES
Applicants for admission into the Pre-Degree Programme I
are expected to have a minimum of five O’Level credits at
one or two sittings, including English Language; Credit in
Mathematics and three other Science subjects for all
Science based courses; Credit in Mathematics and three
other Social Science subjects for all Social Science based
courses and Credit in four Arts subjects for all Arts based
courses. Applicants without complete O/Level credits are
encouraged to take advantage of the programme to re-sit
their O/level examination in order to gain admission into
the University.
Applicants for admission into Pre-Degree Programme II are
expected to have completed O/Level results and are
desired to sit for A/Level WASC, A/Level Cambridge & IJMB
Examinations.
Candidates awaiting O' Level results may apply but will be
considered only if the result arrives early enough.
All candidates will be expected to pay for their external
examinations as at when due, as the tuition fees are
exclusive of external examination fees such as UTME, IJMB,
A/LEVEL WASC and A/Level Cambridge

ANOTHER STRIKE but God Forbid
SSANU threatens strike, warns FG against full
implementation of Needs Report
THE Senior Staff Association of the Nigerian Universities
(SSANU),Western Zone, yesterday threatened to down tools
if the Federal Government decides to fully implement the
Needs Assessment Report which it described as poisonous
to Non-Academic Staff in universities.
Addressing newsmen on the issues raised by the Prof.
Yakubu led Needs Assessment Committee at a lecture held
at the University of Benin (UNIBEN), the National Vice
President and chairman Western Zone, of the SSANU,
Comrade Alfred Jimoh, said the association had earlier
faulted the composition of the Needs committee set up by
the Federal Government to identify the gaps in the
university system.
He said the committee was not only “lopsided but one
sided because it excluded both students and the non-
teaching staff in the system and compromise only
members of the Academic Staff and the then incumbent
President of ASUU. “The report of the committee is laced
with some poisonous and odious recommendations against
the Non teaching staff, which we call satanic verses of
Needs Assessment Report”.
He said therefore that “one cannot but wonder how
government could expect an objective and dispassionate
report from such a warped and highly skewed committee.
True to type and as anticipated by the Non teaching staff of
Nigerian universities, the committee came out with a
voluminous document full of graphics, illustrations and
pictorials which range from truth to half truth and altar false
hood.
“We the Non teaching staff Unions particularly the Western
zone of the SSANU have at every fora given warning to the
Federal Government to discard the offensive parts of the
Needs report which seek to determine the job Non teaching
staff of Nigerian universities and halt their human
development through training and retraining” he said. He
further warned that the full implementation of the report
would be resisted through industrial action.

DECISION EXTRACT(S) FROM
SENATE MEETING
Senate at its 314th Emergency
meeting held on Friday, 20th
December, 2013 noted that
academic activities in the
University resumed 18th
December, 2013 and deliberated
on many issues and took the
following decisions among
others. That
The suspended examination
will continue on 2nd January,
2014. To this end, the
Examination Committee has
been directed to harmonize
the Batch A and B
examinations to run
concurrently;
Senate has magnanimously
extended the regularization of
studentship by defaulting
students to 27th December,
2013. Any student who fails to
use the window of
opportunity will proceed on
Leave of Absence for
2012/2013 session at
expiration of the deadline.
Heads of Department are
expected to be available to
sign the students’
regularization and registration
documents as the case may
be;
Heads of Department are
directed to process all
outstanding results of
students in their Departments
for the approval of Senate.
This is with a view to clear all
issues of outstanding results
this session.
