You may see it but I doubt the effectiveness of it. Someone talked about putting some super capacitors in parallel with his battery, right at the inverter terminals. That would give a big current boost when a high demand load start.
I think you need an inverter/battery capable of handling the start up surge. The goal should be to avoid using battery to power freezer, rather using surplus pv while battery is fully charged during the day.

To my own understanding, he said the cost of shipping the new products to Nigeria in a container is $15,000.
Now the cost of shipping this used products in a container isn't clearly stated.
Talking about $15,000 for container shipment could be 40 feet container, I may be wrong, though country of importation isn't known.
Again, I'm thinking other items will also be in the container. If I'm right, then there's a way you can handle it cost effective wise in terms of clearing in Nigeria.

Someone in another forum used fuse combiner box to turn off the PV DC before it enters the house. According to him, it's another line of defence in an attempts to keep lightning out of the expensive electronics.

Current load is 1.5HP AC - the power saving type, 240W Gaming Laptop, 100W 50" TV, over 20 15-30W light bulbs, water heater.

Sir, I advice you take your time and plan well by consulting widely. Solar is not about throwing money about but rather making every money you spend count.
If you're not on budget and you intend to enjoy energy independent, then plan for 10kw inverter, over 3m 28kwh Lfp battery, huge pv and other accessories.
But if you're on budget as electricity is good in your area, 14kwh Lfp battery, 5kw inverter, about 4kw pv and accessories will solve the listed problem only if you can have a handle on your inductive loads and other loads adjustment.
You may do proper audit by designing your loads... Give time for individual loads to turn on and off.

A 2.5kva inverter with continuous power of 2kw n surge of 6kw will handle ur load just 5n n u'll get 1 for 150k.
D charge controller is pwm n u won't get optimal conversion from ur panels go for powmr. Someone here has some units... 1 is 62k (last I checked).
I'll advice u get 2 400w panels(800w) for 200k than 4 200w(also 800w) for 240k.
If ure in Lagos u can get 6mm cables in alaba for 1k/yd.
The change over is too big. Buy d medium 100a type. U won't b pulling more than 10a through it after all. It's 2k.
Don't no why he's getting big PVC. The normal PVC will accommodate 16mm cable just 5n. It's 400 for 1 trunk. U can't use more than 2.
The components connection cable is too low for N900/yd. U need 16mm n it's 2200/yd.. 3-4yd max. U need to components close to each other.
If u can up ur budget small. U can still get 130a lifepo4 battery 8 pieces (400k) plus 40k BMS. This will save u from buying battery capacity monitor, battery rack, watching out for 50% DOD n change d battery in 2-3 years of use.

Though the day time loads aren't stated but charging 5280wh tubular battery bank to daily float from 800w pv will be difficult unless grid will give 70% support while pv will give 30% support. If not 1600w pv should be considered.

I'm still looking for 5kw 48v inverter with the following parameters:
1. Zero load power/idle power consumption <60w.
2. Mppt operating voltage range 60v to 150v.
Multiplus Victron 5kw 48v (zero load consumption 30w/35w, zero load power in search mode 10w/15w. 30kg) with its Mppt 150/60A has all that I need but I may need up to about 2m to acquire them.
Growatt has 5kw 48v spf hvm model with built in pure copper low frequency transformer/in build Mppt with operating voltage range 60v to 145v and 150v max open circuit voltage (41kg net weight) that suit my demand as well but I'm afraid of idle power consumption as it wasn't stated in its data sheet.
Please, let me know if anyone knows any inverter that will meet the above requirements.

220AH battery is 12*220 = 2640WHr
Your total load assuming 0 self consumption of inverter is 260 to 280W.
Number of hours it can run is 2640/260 or 2640/280 = 9 to 10 hours.

In practice, actual duration would be significantly less for the following reasons:
Inverter efficiency: as you put load on the inverter it also consumes power in the conversion process.
Battery efficiency: depending on battery chemistry, energy you can take out of the battery may be significantly less than the nameplate rating. For lead acid less than 50% depth of discharge recommended.
Peukert's law: As the rate of discharge increases, the battery's available capacity decreases. This effect is more pronounced for lead acid batteries.

Conclusion: its difficult to give an answer without knowing the type of inverter you use and it's efficiency, the type and brand of battery you use as well as the datasheet.

4hours 30mins approximately (+or-) with a total running loads of about 284w using 50% DoD, assuming the inverter consumed 4w and keeping the speaker bass at average.

Please house, can you review solar floodlights and streetlights? I have had and still having horrible experiences with them. I bought over 25 of keye streetlights and floodlights last year, they didn't survive 6months of good brightness before they all went bad, I returned just 3 to their office last week to rectify based on warranty, they replaced the battery in 2 of them, I charged for 48hours then use one night it worked fine, then next night 5w led bulb is brighter than it as I write, though I learnt my lessons late, it appears that nothing I ever bought from Keye ends up good. Also, this SMS Black 300w floodlight with 2 panels, when I check outside my house at 2am, they are all gone and they are barely one year as well. I'm about to give up and want to revert to conventional lighting from my house AC power but it would be wise to know of other people's experience here too. Thank you

Fake products are uncountable in Nigeria markets. You may be lucky to see one that will last for you. Most people here prefer buying from outside directly.
My sms floodlight 200w double panels will be 1yr next month and the brightness hasn't dropped.

What he meant being cumbersome is the outdated design of having 2 inverters and or battery bank..for daytime and nighttime usage.
Its super cumbersome and makes no sense in the present day with low idle /self consumption hybrids.

A new model 8kw hybrid inverter has about 70watts to 100watts idle consumption, while the old traditional transformer based 8kw inverter will have idle consumption in excess of 250watts

I guess you're referring to a case of getting two new inverters installed, but I'm referring to a case of upgrading where a smaller (already installed) system could complement a bigger one (yet to install).

While this is possible it is also cumbersome. The 5kw can also work in the night. These machines are designed to work 24 hours.

I understand your point but if one has a small system running and plans to upgrade to a bigger system, instead of allowing the small (backup) system to stay idle, using it to run smaller loads at night while allowing a bigger system to sleep shouldn't be a bad idea.

Please, is it possible for one pv string and one battery bank to run two inverters via changeover switch?
A case of total off grid where inverter A (say 5kw 48v hybrid) could be powered in the day and switch to inverter B (say 3.5kva 48v with standalone Mppt CC) in the night via changeover switch.
POINTER: One pv string and one battery bank (Lfp) tide to the two inverters.

Abeg where can I buy this Deye 3phase inverter? everywhere I have been, they are selling the single phase models.
I went to another vendor yesterday who has the capacities I want 10kw/12kw 3 phase but with little or no knowledge about what to answer to my questions. and I don't want to pay N2m+ just to try out something and be dissapointed.

While Victron might be a robust machine, I am not fan of systems that you hav to buy so many auxilary devices to acheive all the efizi you desire in your power room. DEYE or MPP Solar are pretty decent machines that doesn't need much aux devices but the problem now is: WHERE TO BUY?
Nigerian dealers go as far as detaching modules from these machines and will sell them to you as addons. Dollar too no let person drink water drop cup. One would simply buy from abroad and have peace.

All being said, no going back on the 3 Phase system,

Boss, drink your water and drop the cup..... You've started it and you've to finish it. Anything you do now that doesn't give you rest of mind/required taste will put a hole in the entire system.
I'll advise you to summon courage and get what you want from outside.
Some of us here bought products outside when dollar was higher than what's today and we're happy with it.

State the watt of your fan and no of hours to be used at night.
Sound system, security lights, electric fence, watts of these items should be stated as well and the no of hours you intend to use them at night.
Doing this will enable you to know the capacity of battery/inverter/pv that would conveniently power the above mentioned items.
