Revealed: Identities Of APC Senators Set To Defect To PDP

The identities of Senators elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) set to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been revealed.
Naija News reports that most of the senators are said to be aggrieved with APC leadership over the way the party handled the last primaries which denied them return tickets to the National Assembly.

Meanwhile, the planned defection is said to have rattled the leadership of APC with some of the senators accusing Senate President Ahmed Lawan of refusing to read the letters of defection submitted to him last week.

However, Lawan denied the allegation made against him by some of the lawmakers ahead of the planned defection.

It is understood that if the senators defect from the APC to the PDP, it would make the ruling party lose its majority status in the Senate.

Recall that 13 APC senators have defected to the PDP, Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and others.

Currently, the APC now has 62 senators while the PDP boasts of 39; NNPP has three; Young Progressives Party (YPP) boasts of two; Labour Party (LP) has one and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has one.

Below are the APC Senators allegedly set to defect to the PDP:
Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, (APC -Bauchi North)
Senator Ladi Dadu’ut, (APC – Plateau South)
Senator Bello Mandiya, (APC –Katsina South)
Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe, (APC – Kwara Central)
Senator Danladi Sankara, (APC – Jigawa West)
Senator Sabi Aliyu Abdullahi, (APC – Niger North)
Senator Smart Adeyemi, (APC – Kogi West)
Senator Yakubu Oseni, (APC – Kogi Central)
Senator Francis Fadahunsi (APC – Osun East)

Tinubu Campaigner Dumps APC To Work For PDP In Borno

A former member of the House of Representatives and steering committee member of the Tinubu Support Group in Borno State, Hon Abdu Musa Msheliza, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to work for the party candidates including the Borno South Senatorial District flagbearer, Hon Kudla Satumari Haske.

Msheliza, who is also a two-term member of the Borno State House of Assembly representing Hawul State Constituency and later represented Askira Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, until leaving the APC, was a member of the steering committee of Tinubu Support Group (TSG) heading Borno South.

Msheliza who was an aspirant for House of representative, Askira Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in the just concluded APC primaries, where he was not allowed to partake in the primaries is an astute grassroot politician with track record of citizen’s engagement in representation.

The politician who has over the past two decades of active politics, built an empire with his love for justice and fairness as key attributes of participatory democracy, has already obtained his membership card of the PDP.

“I am a lover of justice, fairness, equity and consultative decision-making processes in every leadership selection process, and the people should take center stage in deciding who they elect as their leaders, and not somebody or some people sitting somewhere picking and appointing who is presented as candidates in a democratic Nigeria of 21st century, ” Msheliza said while giving reasons for leaving the APC.

“As such, I hate the politics of suppression, and subjugation, where democrats cannot be allowed to test their popularity freely and openly,” he said.

“That is the reason for leaving the ruling APC for the PDP where ownership of leadership selection processes belongs to the people.
“The recent happenings in Borno state has shown that, fairness, justice, equity, is not characteristics of modern democracy, but exhibition of draconian ways of suppressing independent minded democrats and politics of impositions in the state which made the political environment in APC to be inhabitable to anyone that desires fairly and justice.

“This necessitates his exit even after being appointed as key steering committee member of the Tinubu Support Group for 2023 general elections,” Msheliza said promising to deploy his entire campaign network in his immediate constituency and the entire state to ensure they work together with the teaming supporters and Stakeholders of PDP in Borno State to deliver the state to PDP in 2023.

Msheliza called on the good people of Borno State to reject any form of intimidation, imposition, threat, and rigging by participating actively in the election right at their polling units and demand for fairness and justice at every level.

“This is the price citizens must pay to safeguard democratic principles that gives birth to good governance through sound leadership,” he said.

Reviewed by the Zonal Chairman of Borno south Into the PDP and had collected his membership card at his ward.

Ex-APC Presidential Aspirant Dumps Tinubu, Endorses Peter Obi

The former Presidential Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2019 presidential election, Dr. SKC Ogbonnia has disclosed his conclusion to dump his political party affiliation and its 2023 presidential candidate, Alhaji Bola Tinubu to support the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi.

Ogbonnia said that his endorsement of Obi was because the LP presidential candidate is a ‘Democratic Revolution Whose Time Has Come,’ adding that with every sense of patriotism he was joining the Nigerian masses to endorse Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party as the next president of Nigeria.

“Though I remain a member of All Progressives Congress (APC), I must not support its presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The decision to endorse the candidate of an opposition party did not come easy. But there comes a time to say: enough is enough,” Ogbonnia stated.

In a statement he made available to newsmen on Monday, Ogbonnia said that his first disdain for Tinubu was that neither fellow party members nor ordinary Nigerians can claim to know who Ahmed Tinubu truly is.

“Everything about the man is shady—from his name, state of origin, the schools attended, certificates received; his record in America to his true source of income, let alone any true intention of seeking the presidency, apart from an arrogant claim that it is his turn to rule Nigeria.

“Besides the shady background, a series of events also show that Tinubu does not have any good sense of equity, justice, fairness, and patriotism – virtues he claims to promote. The truth is that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is even more insensitive about the Nigerian state and her problems than President Muhammadu Buhari. Further, it is a common knowledge that the APC National Leader no longer possesses the physical fitness to explore the Nigerian presidency, but it has equally become very apparent that he no longer has the mental capacity,” Ogbonnia alleged.

Explaining further, Ogbonnia said that if the truth is told, no conscious and well-meaning Nigerian would wish for an extension of the current national government under APC which Tinubu roundly endorses. He said that the party had far better and younger candidates to fly its presidential ticket but chose to settle for the highest bidder in the ageless Tinubu.

“Even as a candidate, Tinubu’s do-or-die campaign strategy is an existential threat to the Nigerian state. The APC National Leader has made it abundantly clear that he does not mind if the country burns to ashes, insofar he becomes president. Rescuing Nigeria is paramount. Thus, we can no longer hide behind the bogus toga of political parties, tribes, and religions, while a visionless clique continues to dictate our future.

“We can no longer mortgage our conscience while the masses, particularly the youth, continue to wallow in abject poverty and despair. We must not continue to watch Mr. Tinubu and his shameless colleagues deploy our commonwealth to buy private jets, vacation abroad, train their children abroad, receive quality healthcare for themselves and their families abroad, while the masses at home have nowhere to go for their basic welfare.

“I have a conscience. In Peter Obi, I see a true detribalized Nigerian like myself, who is committed to real change. I see a generational visionary who is truly passionate and committed to rescue the country from total collapse and reposition her for greatness. In Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, I see hope for the future.

“In Obi/Baba-Ahmed ticket, I see intellect, character, competence, and capacity; I see integrity and humility. I see patriotism; I see dynamism. I see enviable and verifiable track-record; I see attainable visions; I see hope for the Nigeria of our founding dreams; I see a democratic revolution whose time has come. This move is consistent with my politics. I never allow the mere exigencies of ethnicity, religion, or party affiliation to becloud my judgment. As a member of the National Republican Convention (NRC), I crossed party lines to campaign for MKO Abiola, the flagbearer for the Social Democratic Party (SDP). I saw Abiola as a better candidate than the candidate of my party, Bashir Tofa.

“I was a card-carrying member of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in its thickest state of Enugu. However, after the fraudulent general elections of 2007 where the ruling PDP dictated who won or who lost, I changed course. I vowed to join any movement that could remove PDP from power. I would become a foundation member of the APC and promoted Buhari to victory. I remain proud that we made history by dethroning the PDP–a virally corrupt ruling party that had planned to hold on to power for 60 unbroken years. We demonstrated consequences for bad behavior.

“Unfortunately, today, with Asiwaju Tinubu as its National Leader, the APC does not appear to have any ideological, moral, or ethical difference with the much-discredited PDP. Today, my party has shamelessly become a safe haven for corrupt kingpins indicted while in PDP. To make matters worse, the two presidential candidates of APC and PDP, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, respectively, are two of the most perfidious poster boys for Nigeria’s corrupt oligarchy. In short, neither Atiku nor Tinubu can in good conscience campaign against corruption.

“It is pertinent to note that no Nigerian leader, whether military or civilian, has ever assumed the governance of the country with the degree of mercenary influence cum notoriety commonly equated with Atiku and Tinubu. I have a conscience. I have chosen my country over my party. I have become OBI-dient for the greater good of Nigeria!! I call on other true progressives to do so,” Ogbonnia charged.

I consider this coming election as the surest opportunity for Nigeria to get it right for the second time (the first and last time was electing Umar Musa Yar'adua). All the permutations and combinations are presently favouring H.E Peter Obi of Labour Party.

But if by peradventure Peter Obi lose 2023 election, I, Ologunagba Abdullahi Morenikeji,

1. will never vote again,
2. will not pray for Nigeria again,
4. will never sympathize with Nigerians again, but
4. will solely focus on how to japa from Nigeria and later evacuate my family.

That means Nigeria is destined for destruction and desolation forever.
