The former spokesman on New Media of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Deji Adeyanju, has said the idea of a Bola Tinubu Presidency is a scary one.

Tinubu is the presidential candidate of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Adeyanju, who is the convener of Concerned Nigeria, CN, stated this via his twitter handle on Thursday, while accusing the running mate of APC, Kashim Shettima, of being behind the abduction of Chibok girls.

What has now come to be called the Chibok Girls was the abduction in 2014 of secondary school students in an all-girls’ school in Chibok, a community in Chibok Local Government of Borno State.

Shettima who was governor at the time of the abduction was accused of ignoring intelligent reports and various directives from the Goodluck Jonathan administration to shut down the school following increasing wave of terrorist attacks from Boko Haram terrorist group.

It was alleged that his refusal to listen to the directives led to the abduction of over 200 students from the school, which became the sore point of the Jonathan administration.

Jonathan failed to get re-election in 2015, blamed largely on the abduction, which was condemned globally.

Shettima, a muslim, emerged the running mate in the APC to Tinubu, who is also a muslim, on July 10. The joint ticket has been rejected by a wide section of the Christian community for ignoring religious diversity.

But Adeyanju said, “The idea of a Tinubu presidency scares me.
“If anything happens to him, Shettima will be president.

“That’s a man at the Centre of Chibok girls and many allegations of Boko Haram ties,” he said.

I’m not the least surprised that Bola Tinubu’s choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as running mate has generated so much uproar and outrage. I saw it coming, and in several articles in the last few months, I had warned that a muslim-muslim ticket would create problems for APC and harm its acceptability in many parts of the country.

So far, CAN and PFN, two major Christian groups and HURIWA, a well-known human rights advocacy body, have spoken out against the choice. Emmanuel Bwala, a lawyer from Borno State and one of Tinubu’s close advisers, has resigned his membership of the party in protest. I suspect that the opposition parties would use this as a campaign issue. The debates in Social Media are already heated. In the weeks and months ahead, the full reverberations of the decision would be known.

Even if Tinubu ends up winning the election, it would be in spite of, not because of Shettima, and every action of his presidency would be seen in terms of this insensitive choice. I am convinced that if a Christian were chosen, the outcome of the vote would be the same.

The greatest danger in the choice of Shettima is the deceitful argument that was created to justify it and the implications for our country. Long before the primary, the Tinubu camp had floated the point that Northern Christians are too irrelevant to be on the ticket; and so muslims in Northern Nigeria would never vote for Tinubu if he picked a Christian. This insinuates that Christians are second-class citizens in Northern Nigeria who are not fit to be President or Vice President. The implication here is that the Christian population in Northern Nigeria is subject to insidious discrimination because of their faith. That’s a gross and grotesque violation of the Constitution.

Another implication is that if Tinubu wins, we should expect at least 16 unbroken years of a Muslim-led Presidency. Think of the wider imports of that to the fragility of our federation.

But that assumption that Christians aren’t capable of attracting votes in the North flies in the face of the 2011 experience when Dr. Goodluck Jonathan won massively in that part of the country, beating a Fulani Muslim, Nuhu Ribadu, fair and square.

There’s also the theory that Northern Muslims don’t regard Tinubu (or Yoruba Muslims) as authentic believers, and so a Northern Muslim is needed to validate or authenticate the ticket. These are all specious and self-serving assertions invented by some politicians to push their interest. Islam does not segregate its adherents into authentic and non-authentic believers.

Even in Saudi Arabia, Muslims from all over the world congregate and worship together in the same mosques and take part in the same activities during hajj. It is a tragedy that Tinubu could not see through these fallacies and so he fell cheaply them, because he is too desperate to be President, and would do anything for it.

But true leadership is transformational and sometimes very disruptive. It confronts cant, dismantles cliches, and breaks down conventions in pursuit of noble goals.

Muslim-Muslim ticket might look expedient in the face of hardcore politics, but in the long run, it may lead to a permanent and psychological denigration of the Christian community, especially in the North, and could render them subservient citizens who can only vote but would never be voted for as either President or Vice President. It could also alienate the huge Christian population in the country from government and create a mistrust between them and the administration.

In other words, this ticket has created a caste system in a certain part of the country in which some people are discriminated against based on their faith. It does not matter that there are many Christians up there. Adamawa has 45% Christian population; Taraba (65%); Benue (80%); Plateau (90%); Borno (25%) and Kwara, Kogi and Gombe (hovering around 30%).

In announcing his pick, Tinubu said ‘’I made the choice because “I believe this is the man who can help me bring the best governance to all Nigerians’’. In other words, Tinubu is saying that only in the Muslim population could he find such a man. It’s so demeaning and belittling of Christians. It is not only a baseless assumption, is also against the spirit and intendment of our Constitution.

In 2014, then-candidate Buhari rejected Tinubu’s overtures to be made running mate because the retired general knew that it was not the proper thing to do in a pluralistic federation. But appropriateness doesn’t seem to mean much to Tinubu, and so he exclaims glibly in his statement that ‘’the spirit of 1993 is upon us again 2023’’, referring to the running mate choice MKO Abiola made 30 years ago.

But Tinubu is not MKO and Nigeria of 2022 is different from that of 1993. Nigerians were eager to see off the military three decades ago, and they were ready to put up with a Muslim running mate to MKO in 1993. Chief Abiola himself was a well-respected businessman and a national figure due to his philanthropic activities across the country and the push for repatriation.

Tinubu does not measure up to what MKO was. But even then, there were protestations against the Kingibe choice, and subsequent events later proved that indeed it was not a good choice, after all. Shettima is another Kanuri from the same Borno State as Kingibe. Tinubu is an ailing candidate. We shall see how things pan out this time…

Just a footnote before I round off. The biggest loser in all this is Gov. Nasir El Rufai of Kaduna State. About two years ago, he had launched scathing criticisms of Tinubu for his dictatorial conduct in Lagos.

When Tinubu visited Kaduna in May to seek the support of the delegates, the governor was noncommittal. As the primary drew close, Tinubu, ever so cunning, made El Rufai a promised he couldn’t refuse: running mate in exchange for support of his delegates.

The diminutive Fulani man fell for it. Now that he’s been outplayed, I understand the Tinubu camp would soon dangle another carrot before him: Chief of Staff to the President. Will he fall for it again?

You can't compare Anambra with Lagos. Lagos was FCT and current commercial capital with FG airport. I am from Osun State and I can tell you, past governors don't live here. They only visit during elections. By November, Oyetola is returning back to Lagos.

PoliticsMuslim-Muslim: Kaduna CAN Disowns ‘progressive Christian Clerics’ by iSense247(op): 1:14am On Jul 28, 2022
The Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria has disowned a group, the Progressive Christian Clerics, North-West zone, saying that such association does not exist.

The association also wondered about the desperation of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 presidency as he adopt all forms of tactics to deceive Nigerians as regards the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party.

According to the CAN, the desperation of the APC and its presidential candidate is laughable.

The state CAN Chairman, Rev. John Hayab, who spoke to newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday, expressed concern over a comment credited to the so-called Progressive Christian Cleric, North-West Zone, saying there was no such group in existence.

The Progressive Christian Clerics North-West Zone led by one Rev. Moses Bitrus of Arise and Shine Prophetic Ministry Kaduna had claimed they had thrown their weight behind the APC Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket while encouraging other Christians across the region to support the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in the 2023 presidential election.

The group had also claimed that its membership cut across the 19 Northern States and Abuja, declaring that Nigerians should be more concerned about electing leaders with the capacity to tackle the security and economic challenges rather than bothering on religious and ethnic sentiments.

However, Hayab, who’s also the Vice-Chairman of Northern CAN distanced the association from the group.

According to him, members of the group were mere opportunists parading themselves as a Christian group, adding that genuine Christian leaders would continue to speak out against such divisive action.

He added that an unknown group suddenly springing up in the name of endorsing the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC Presidential candidate, simply shows how desperate the party was in their attempt in getting the support of Christians not minding the genuineness of those involved(group).

Hayab said, “I have all my life lived in Kaduna and as a Minister of the Gospel, l have been opportune to interact and know most of the Pastors(clerics) in Kaduna. To the best of my ability or knowledge, l don’t know the name of the zonal chairman or the existence of a group like that.

“It is a pity that the desperation of the APC presidential candidates to convince Nigerians that they are being supported by the Christians in the country will definitely attract a non-existence group of people in the name of Christians claiming to support their candidacy in order to milk them.

“If the Christians were important, l strongly believed they would have been consulted and carried along in the struggle of the presidency by the APC in nominating the running mate to its presidential candidate. Using names, groups and organisations that are alleged to be Christians will not change the reality of what CAN is talking about.”

Hayab continued that CAN would never support anything that was not in the interest of Nigerians, adding that the Christian body would distance itself from such things that will cause disharmony, and hatred among Nigerians.

The Christian leader said CAN would continue to preach peace, love and unity among its followers, saying that that would be the only way to guarantee peace devoid of suspicion among Nigerians irrespective of religion and ethnic divide.

PoliticsMuslim-Muslim Ticket: Anglican Bishop Blasts APC, Tinubu by iSense247(op): 11:39pm On Jul 27, 2022
ABUJA – The Lord Bishop, Diocese of Kubwa (Anglican Communion), Reverend Dr Duke Akamisoko, on Wednesday took a swipe at the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu for picking a Muslim as his running mate. Bishop Akamisoko categorically said the Muslim-Muslim ticket is totally unacceptable to the Church.

“This is totally unacceptable to us as a Church. It constitutes a gross abuse of our collective sensitivity as a nation.

“Muslim-Muslim ticket at a time like this is a demonstration of insensitivity to the plurality of religion; the polarized nature of Nigeria; the plight of Christians in Nigeria and the feelings of Christians in Northern Nigeria etc,” Akamisoko stated.

Akamisoko opined that Tinubu’s action was a “direct insult on the entire Christendom” stressing that “APC has made a choice; it is left for Christians in Nigeria to also make their choice”.

The Bishop stated this while addressing the press at 2022 pre-Synod held in Kubwa, Abuja.

The Bishop disclosed that the 2nd session of the 5th Synod will hold from July 29 to 31, at St Peter’s Church, Karu Abuja.

Synod, the Bishop said, is a yearly gathering of policymakers of the Diocese, and the highest decision-making body of the Church.

At Synod, policies are made to regulate the affairs of the Diocese, assess and evaluate previous policies to measure the level of compliance or otherwise.

The theme of this year’s Synod, Bishop Akamisoko said, is, “I chose and appointed you to bear fruit that will remain, (John 15:16)”.

Back to the Muslim-Muslim ticket issue, the Bishop submitted that there can never be a rational explanation for such “a selfish, greedy and self -centeredness decision by the APC.

“It is irresponsible of APC to take its political survival over the stability and peace of Nigeria.

“The party ought to have taken a cue from the opposition against his vice presidential ambition and how President Muhammadu Buhari opted for a Christian running mate in 2015 instead of the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“A Muslim-Muslim ticket is the greatest insult on the Christian community, especially in the Northern region.

“Is APC saying that there is no Northern Christian who is intelligent enough to be its running mate?

“Is APC saying that there is no Northern Christian who has a political value to deliver victory to it? Definitely, the answer is NO” Bishop Akamisoko declared.

Speaking further on the state of the nation, the Bishop urged government at all levels to be alive to their responsibilities of protecting lives and properties of their citizens.

“Discussions at different fora have shown that the main cause of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other vices in the country is bad leadership.

“It is on this premise we challenge leaders at all tiers of government to provide social amenities which can make life comfortable for Nigerians.

“Such amenities are stable electricity as this will help in the growth and sustenance of the production sector of the country; good roads network — this will no doubt aid the movement of goods from one point to another.

‘If these two areas are improved, it is certain that there will be more sanity in our country” Bishop Akamisoko said.

The religious leader described the protracted ASUU, ASUP and NASU strike as “bad omen” for Nigeria.

He added that the Federal Government should place more premium on the education sector, if indeed the country hopes for a better tomorrow.

Ahead the 2023 general elections, Bishop Akamisoko calles on Nigerians who have attained age of voting to obtain their PVCs and go all out to perform their civic responsibility on the day of election. “Nigerians should know that we can take our destiny in our hands by voting out bad leaders and bringing in visionary leaders that can take Nigeria to its promise land.

Speaking on corruption, the Bishop said the President Muhammadu Buhari led APC government has failed Nigerians again in the fight against corruption. “The spate at which corruption is growing in the country is alarming. “The rate at which public officers are squandering public funds is second to none.

The cleric, therefore appealed to the anti-graft agencies to wake up from slumber, and imbibe high professionalism.

Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket Is An Embarrassment To The Christian Community.’ – Ex-Kogi Governor

Clarence Olafemi, a former governor of Kogi State, has criticized the Muslim-Muslim ticket of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2023 elections.

In an interview with Track News, the APC chieftain described the Muslim-Muslim ticket as an insult to the Christian community’s sensibilities.

When asked if there was no Christian in the North capable of filling the position of vice president, Olafemi said he was not a part of the decision that resulted in the ticket.

The APC chieftain stated that while the Muslim-Muslim ticket worked in 1993, the situation was very different from what is happening today.

Regardless of the backlash that has followed the decision, Olafemi stated that he will continue to work for the success of the APC in the 2023 general election.

“Are you saying there are no Christians in the North capable of holding the position of Vice President?” he asked. It offends the Christian community’s sensibilities, in my opinion. I tried to see if anyone could persuade me because I was not a part of the decision that resulted in the tickets, but no one could.

“Even though it worked previously in 1993, the scenario was quite different from what is currently in play.” Nigeria has become so polarized that it requires a great deal of reconciliation and unity, which the same religious tickets cannot provide in a country with two major religions, Christianity and Islam.

“I believe that if we truly want peaceful coexistence in the country, we must demonstrate that we are doing everything possible to pacify all religions in order to bring about peace, and not otherwise.”

“However, as a party member, I will have no choice but to work for my party’s success at the polls.”

OBI on channels TV today.

SEUN: Mr, Peter obi. Atiku said so many things about you, he said it will take a miracle for you to win the election, what's your take on that?

OBI: well, my Political journey has been a miracle. So many things has happened in my life that people never thought would be possible. In 2003, i contested for the Anambra Governorship election under a party that was just one year old, people said it will take a miracle for me to win the election that year, I Won.

Six months later, i was impeached. I challenged the impeachment in court, people said it will impossible for me to come back to Office, that no governor has ever come back to office after impeachment, they said it will take a miracle for me to win the case in court, I won the case.

I came back to office and in 2007, an election was conducted and Andy Uba declared the winner. I went to court again to seek for the interpretation of our laws, i told the court that the tenure of a Governor is Four years and i should be allowed to finish my tenue, people said it will take miracle for me to win that case, I won.

So my Political journey has been like a miracle and I'm waiting for the bigger miracle to happen in 2023. That's my response to Atiku's statement.

SUEN: Alright, Atiku said that 90% of northeners are not on social media, so he is not bothered about your popularity online. What's your take on that?

OBI: Well, that's the problem I'm coming to solve as the Nigerian President. I have said it before that the north will be our new oil, i will convert that population to wealth through Production,. I will invest in education so that those who don't know how to operate the internet in the north, will learn how it is done. The north is our new oil.

SEUN:. Alright, maybe i should stop talking about what Atiku said and go into other topics but before i do that, i will like to ask you this question. Atiku said you didn't inform him when you left the PDP, is that true?

OBI: Yes, it is true.

SEUN:. Why didn't you inform him? As his former running mate, many expected you to inform your former boss before taking that decision.

OBI:. You see Seun,. A time will come in a man's life, where he will decide to take a very Strong decision about his life and his people, without informing those who are likely to tell him not to take such decision. I have so many important people in my life that i didn't tell that i was going to leave PDP, i didn't even tell my family at that time.. i took that decision because it is the best thing to do and i didn't want anybody to distract me.

Remember when i left, i told Nigerians that i rather lose doing the right thing, than win doing the wrong thing.

SEUN;. How will your security plan be like?

OBI: it will be immediate and desicive.
I will pull people out of poverty, it has been Proven that the more you pull people out of poverty, the more you reduce crime., I will invest in education and military manpower. All options will be on the table.

Me: Now I understand why Peter Obi pleaded that his supporters should not reply any Presidential candidate that attacks him, he said his supporters should allow him do the job. This is it, he wants to embarrass them with love and intelligence.

‘Fake Bishops’ At Shettima’s Unveiling Are Mostly Ibos

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, the clerics told journalists that they did not represent the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

The clerics under the auspices of the Muslim-Christian Love Foundation insisted that they never portrayed themselves as emissaries of CAN at the event.

The clergymen who noted that their churches have existed for several years named their congregations to include; “Christian Revival Evangelical Mission Worldwide of Apostle Godwin Livinus; the Divine Prophetic End Time Gospel Faith in Kubwa, Bishop Dr. Emeka Theodore; the Light House of all Nation Ministry of Bishop Emmanuel Sunday Jayeola.”

The Secretary of the group, Bishop Adams King explained that their identification with Senator Kashim Shettima and the APC was informed by his transformation of Borno State and even-handed management of social relations, including the protection of rights for all regardless of religion, whilst he was the Governor of the state.
