Later later in life when these men are elderly and lonely, some ignorant people will come online to write epistles about how kids abandon their fathers in old age because their mother turned their heads. They will complain that children always take care of their mothers but leave their fathers to suffer of loneliness.
This is why I always take such stories with a pinch of salt because when you look deeply, a loving father will never be abandoned by his children. Male loneliness in old age is 9 times out of 10 the fruits of what they planted. |

Lexzeey: No mind the dodoyo, he neva jam, you dey your dey person come dey oppress you in the name of elder you go whimper and cower until he pities you and leave you alone, what sort of violation is that.? Hot blood hot blood... You'll cool down as you get older and wiser. Aging does that to you, you know. It makes you view things from a different perspective, but for now your blood is still hot and you think you have everything figured out. Your uncle might be an entitled jerk acting under the influence of alcohol to misbehave, but does that justify slapping him? You call what he did "oppression". Do you even know the meaning of oppression? Look guy, you handled it very wrongly whether or not you choose to admit it. He hit you on the back and demanded respect, but the mature thing to do would have been to walk away no matter how hard it may have seemed. There's a way you would have handled his drunken behaviour that would have made everyone would turn against him and start cautioning him to behave himself. He was clearly acting under the influence of alcohol and handling him like the drunk he is would have made him a fool before everybody's eyes, but now that you have behaved like the fool, you have now become the fool and this will come back to haunt you, you best believe that. This is Africa, guy. Culturally, you goofed. |

Like I don't really get!! Maybe they hate her or wanted her gone. It is well.. may her soul rest in peace 🕊️. I don't understand. Is life supposed to come to a standstill because an industry colleague passed on? That's why we should take care of our health and guard our lives diligently because if one dies today, the world will not stop. Even family members will move on eventually and the only ones who will keep your memories are same family members. No one will stop living. Life will go on. |
Business › Re: Banks Shut 229 Branches by Ishilove: 10:05am On Jan 04 |
DomPerignon: There's absolutely no need for private banks.
The deregulation of the banking sector was one of the biggest mistakes to have ever been conceived and is the number 1 driver of inflation and money laundry.
And to think most if not all these banks are now operated under fractional reserve banking that allows them to draw money from the central bank (our money) far above that in their vaults (still our money) and loan back to both the government and the populace at medieval Shylock loan rates tells you why we have a double digit lending rate hovering at room temperature ranges .
With such a high disparity in lending rates compared to what they pay as interests to depositors, you should not be wondering why we have one of the highest year on year inflation rates.
The Central Bank should rethink theor policy towards merchant banks and limit them strictly to banking transactions .
The CBN already has several subsidiaries like Bank of Agriculture, Bank of Industry and NIRSAL that ought to replace the Shylock banks as lenders.
The digital platforms have shown they can provide effective banking transactions far better than the inept conventional banks and have so far shown they are more transparent and more responsive to their customer base. The CBN should empower these digital banks with same fractional lending tools to serve SMEs lending as well as for soft consumer loans.
A scenario were bank executives are the highest salaried earners and draw huge sums as end of year bonuses while doing next to nothing but exploit the system while serving corrupt politicians to launder money should come to an end.
Bankers, Lawyers, Journalists and Medical Practioneers (in this order) are the bane of any nation and must be stripped of any professional and outstanding role in any nation if that nation must survive. Your last paragraph is what spoilt your otherwise interesting submission. |

The guy screamed 3x before going unconscious; it's very possible he quickly/desperately switched off the socket before passing out. Electrocution doesn't work that way, oga. Once the body is electrified it scrambles the nervous system and the body loses all coordination. Some go into cardiac arrest immediately so there is no time or ability to switch off anything desperately. Have you seen videos of people been tased? They drop to the ground and convulse uncontrollably. That's just minor, compared to full electrocution. This fellow was not electrocuted. It is was something else. Something dark and diabolical. |

DrMB: In Nigeria, it's super common for dominant brand names to become generic terms for entire product categories, a phenomenon called "genericide" or genericization. This happens when a brand dominates the market so much that people forget (or ignore) the actual generic name.
Here are some classic examples:
Jeep → Refers to any SUV or 4x4 vehicle (e.g., Toyota Prado, Lexus RX, or Honda CR-V is casually called a "Jeep" . This stems from early rugged vehicles like Willys Jeeps being iconic on Nigerian roads, especially in military/government use. Indomie → Used for any instant noodles, even brands like Mimee, Honeywell, Golden Penny, or Dangote Noodles. Maggi → Means any seasoning/stock cubes (bouillon), regardless of brands like Knorr, Royco, or Terra. Gala → Refers to any sausage roll snack. Dettol → Any antiseptic/disinfectant liquid. Hypo (or sometimes Jik) → Any household bleach. Pampers → Any disposable baby diapers. Vaseline → Any petroleum jelly. Omo → Any laundry detergent powder. Close-Up or Macleans → Any toothpaste (varies by generation/region). Sellotape → Any clear adhesive tape. Super Glue → Any fast-acting cyanoacrylate adhesive. I wasn't even aware Sellotape and Super Glue are actual brand names. I always assumed these are the names of the products themselves. I agree. Biko let them keep using the generic names for the Nigerian audience to avoid confusing us. The international media can add 'sic' when reporting our reportage abeg. 😁😁Country is hard enough as it is. |
