I think a presidential debate between Gen. M. Buhari and President G. Jonathan before 2015 will help us know who has offered or got something to offer for the country Nigeria if voted in. It will also help us vote for the right person to rule us come 2015. What do y'all think?
Four Years too late. GEJ will not even debate a 3-legged table with a cracked top if the rapper Dbanj is not present in the room.

Igbos are not bigot as you portray it.
Infact it is the yoorobas that are bigots.
Considering the huge population of Igbos in yooroba states of Oyo, Ogun and Ekiti, I think it is high time the yoorobas in those state should vote in an Igboman to be their governor.
The Yorubas are bigots but they accommodate you in their land while you can't do the same for them on yours. They put you as representatives in their Governments while you can't do same for them. You go to their land and try to claim it by calling it "No-man's land" while yours is a no-go area.

I think your understanding of 'bigot' is a little skewered.

Politics › Re: Dangote's Cement Price Drop Was To Support GEJ's Agenda by ISpiksDaTroof: 6:36pm On Nov 03, 2014
ducii:
Africa’s largest cement producer, Dangote Cement Plc has slashed local cement prices to N1,000 ($6) and N1,150 ($7), for different grades. The cement giant is keen to consolidate its position as not only Africa’s top cement maker, but the leading provider in the continent’s largest economy, Nigeria.

The current market price for a 50kg bag of the 32.5 grade and 42.5 grade retails for N1,700 ($10.3), 40 percent higher than Dangote’s latest offer. This is the lowest cement price offered consumers since 2005, and ups the ante in what is considered one of the continent’s more competitive markets.

Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement, Devakumar Edwin said the price cut was aimed at supporting the government’s ongoing effort to shrink housing deficit, which currently stands at an estimated 17 million.

“One of the ways of addressing the issue (huge infrastructure and housing deficit) is bringing the price of building materials down to much more affordable levels, especially cement, which is within our own control as part of our contribution to the transformation agenda of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and the attainment of key milestones in the Millennium Development Goals,” Edwin said.

Since the backward integration policy for cement was implemented in 2002, local production capacity of the product has increased from less than 3 million metric tonnes per annum to about 38 million metric tonnes per annum, and nearly $20 billion has been injected into the Nigerian cement industry with Dangote – Africa’s richest man and owner of the Dangote Group – accounting for 60 percent of that investment.

With market capitalization surging beyond $22 billion, Dangote Cement is Nigeria’s most capitalized listed company and the first to hit $20 billion capitalization mark.

who are the ibos?
I only know of Igbos.

Before what you wrote can be a reality, substancial population of non-Igbo muslim should be living in SouthEast and be ready to compete with Igbos in all ramification.

I stand to be corrected a city as big as Onitsha don't have more than 5% of non - Igbo population.

Did you expect the southeast Igbos to import a non - Igbo muslim to come and govern them on the ground fairness?

It does work like that dude.
Listen, 5% is a huge population. That's simply to say, admittedly, Onitsha is now confirmed to be a no-mans land and Muslims have a right to be represented at the highest levels of the state. If Ibos aren't bigots they should allow at least one Muslim Governor in any of their 5 states, that way we will now be able to identify which region is really the problem in Nigeria.

I'm thinking Enugu or Abia should have Muslim Governors. What do you think?

If anything your analysis indicts Jonathan because inaction at Boko Haram by the President actually disenfranchises the whole North regardless of religion (which I don't know how commonsensically you assume BH attacks individual people based on their faith) and GEJ gets to benefit from the displacement more than anybody else. Or isn't the North no longer "overwhelmingly Muslim" anymore?

The American politician that was in cahoots with them was sentenced to 13 years in Federal Prison. Google "Rep.William Jefferson", and tell me what you see in relation to Atiku. My grouse with all these people saying religion should not be mixed with politics, lets be sincere to ourselves Muslims can never allow a Christian rule them, we saw what happened to Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State.

Smdh
When Tafawa Balewa was murdered by Christian Ibos, a Christian Ironsi took over. When another Group of Christians Murdered Mur'tala Muhammed, a Christian Obasanjo took over. Same with M.K.O's and Yar Adua's deaths--- Christians took over.

If the deceased were Christians, I bet ---based on their attitudes these past few years--- they'd have insisted a fellow christian (no matter how dull, ignorant, or unqualified) took over.

Nigeria never had a religious divide as bad as this until the South East became very vociferous with it, especially with GEJ encouraging on the sidelines. The North and South East are very intolerant of others' religious beliefs.

The Southwest should make sure aliens do not indoctrinate her society with alien practices of hate, bigotry, hypocrisy and intolerance as is seeming to lately be the case.

P.S: Instead of preaching bigotry and intolerance , Mr.Magnus Atilade should go take care of his wife (the High Court Justice) and family he abandoned for a much younger woman. His attention is needed by his unmarried 36yr old daughter that went crazy a few years ago because her fiancee fled with her best friend (and moved into a house he made her furnish in hopes that she'd be the one living there with him).
Politics › Re: ‘We Want Christian Governor In Lagos’ by ISpiksDaTroof: 1:54pm On Nov 03, 2014
OlusolaWarrior:
A group, the Coalition of Christian Organisations (CCO), a body representing the interests of Christians in Lagos State, has intensified its agitation for a Christian governor in the state.

Its President, Archbishop Magnus Atilade, said Muslims have ruled for 16 years, adding that the group will support parties that field Christians as flag bearers. He said the next governor would correct the marginalisation of Christians in Lagos politics.

Archbishop Atilade added: “We will only support a Christian aspirant, who is highly educated; a seasoned administrator who has the fear of God; ready to fight for all, including Muslims; a morally upright person without any personal agenda to enrich himself and family and a person who will not discriminate against any religious sect.”

Archbishop Atilade spoke on the political situation in the country in Lagos. The briefing was organised by the Southwest Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Christian Welfare initiative (CWI), the Interfaith Coalition for Dialogue and Peace International (INFERDPEL).

He said Christian groups are ready to work with a Christian aspirant, irrespective of his denomination.

However, he maintained that the aspirant must meet the criteria set by the group, based on Christian values.

Atilade called on Christians to mobilise themselves and register for voting. He said: “Come out to vote and protect their votes. We should clamour for free, fair, open, peaceful and violence free election. Government should guarantee justice, equity and fairness to all other religions. Let a Christian emerge as the next governor iof Lagos.”

Atilade also urged the Federal Government to be more diplomatic in tackling the Boko Haram (BH) insurgency.

He said: “It was premature of the government to have announced the pact it was negotiating with the sect. It was too hasty. There is need for caution and proof of sincerity from the group. That will not raise hope and dashed same. The peace pact should not be at all cost. The peace pact on the release of the abducted girls should be handled by experienced professionals in the field of International Diplomatic Relations on behalf of the government.

“Government should work harder to ensure the unrest kidnapping, destruction of property; churches mass killings and man slaughters.”

On the economy, the cleric said youth unemployment is unacceptable it is the key to idleness, restlessness and armed robbery.

He added: “An idle hand is a tool for the devil. The growing trend in the armed robbery by youths is alarming. Government and the baking sector should support skill training outfits, mechanised farming, local production of goods, especially the textile industry, to promote locally made goods.

“Public schools should not allow outward display of religious persuasions and private schools should cater for students with special interest.”

They need to be fired because they are both incompetent.
They should not only be fired, they should also be charged for treason. Theres just no way on earth they can tell me they have no idea---at the very least---who a single NIGERIAN Boko Haram sponsor/Insider is! Thats why I say even GEJ knows more than he's telling the world. They are all using it to their advantage by blowing up places then blaming "Boko Haram".

One side is using it to weaken the Government in order to get their fingers back on the oil wells of the Niger-Delta.

The other side is using it to weaken its opponents by allowing insecurity to reign in order to make them---at least for the short term---numerically disadvantaged, electorally.

For now both sides are blowing places up, while BH just comes in to mop up and capture more territories. If you think your President doesn't know the origins of bomb blasts in your country then you just need to dig your head out of the sand you've kept it in.

That is a wrong question. The question should be, Should LG chairmen and state Governors ensure that development reflects in the grassroots? The answer is YES.

You have to sense the symptoms and prevent a sickness from being full blown. Look at Boko Haram, they all emerged from the prevalence of almajiris in the North. Is it not ironic that northern leaders have ruled Nigeria for over 30 years, with trillions of Naira allocated to their states. Why then couldn't the trillions translate into development at the state and local government level? It is GEJ's fault abi?

Look at Kwakwanso screaming as if he has been able to transform Kano into Dubai. If with all the money that he controlled he could not develop Kano, how can he develop Nigeria if he is in charge?

The FG wouldn't need to deploy troops if the populace demands for development from the people that are directly in charge of them. See people like Amaechi, what excuse does he have for the condition that Rivers state is currently in? Upon all the trillions that he controlled as a PDP member? Na wa o!
The Nigerian President is one of the most powerful Presidents on Earth by virtue of the widespread powers given to him by the National Assembly. To cut a long story short, if the President is good the rest of the country functions, if he's bad and corrupt guess what happens?

Exactly!

I am really disappointed in this man for playing tribal politics.

Someone like Fashola makes intellectual statements based on facts when attacking the Federal Government and though he might be guilty of some of those things he accuses the F.G of, it doesn't stop his statements from being somewhat mature and sensible.

Isn't it funny how people always accuse GEJ of dividing the country along tribal lines, but here you have a Governor openly instigating his people to achieve his own ends.

"He (Goodluck Jonathan) says he is your brother and the "Hausaman" is your enemy"

I personally have never heard GEJ say this, as I'm sure it would have been all over the news if he did. So why would a so called leader fabricate such in the hopes of elevating his own party while simultaneously accusing the presidency of dividing Nigerians along tribal lines.

From what I am seeing here Mr. Ameachi, you are the one presently doing the dividing.
Either you're trying to play ostrich, or you're genuinely slow.

When Edvin Clark, Dokubo, Anenih and co were making divisive statements against the North what do you call that? When Doyin Okupe, Reno Omokri and co regularly---indirectly and directly---insult other parts of Nigeria and call them "Parasites", "supporter of APC", "Traitors", "Backstabbers", "Cowards" etc do you really think they don't have the acquiescence of the President to carry out all these ad hominem attacks? Has he ever condemned them?

Ok, then. All is fair in love and war.
