Country filled with illiterate and backwards people. No wonder the country remains in the stone age. Controlled demolition indeed. What a shame when the church commits a crime that leads to the death of innocent people, then furthers the crime by bribing law enforcement officials to give false testimony under oath.

Do Nigerian Christians truly believe in God and repercussions for their sins?

The main opposition party is hheaded by a convicted drug dealer who entered a plea bargain with US prosecutors forefiting assests and collaborating with the investigations of his drug dealing accomplices and affiliates. One of these affiliates is currently serving a life sentence.

In short, Tinubu snitched his way out.

When nemesis will finally catch up with him and his drug mule wife now a senator and he is finally extradicted to the US to serve his long overdue sentence in a Federal prison he will see first hand what they do to snitches
What you wrote is about Tinubu is a lie. But then again you also said Tinubu "collaborated" with the authorities and that one day he will be "extradicted", so I bet you know that already.

Truth is many ppl dnt realy like jonathan but a buhari president scares most of us. Although he has hard line supporters also but dat would get him nowhere.
My friend you don't need a "Peacemaker" as President, what you need is a man that'll ensure that every single penny --- whether allocated for education, roads, telecommunications, health, security, job creation etc--- is used EXACTLY for what it was budgeted for and that none of it is diverted to private accounts.... thats the way a proper society is run. Atiku will steal every penny in sight. Maybe you don't know this, but because of Atiku and his corrupt ways a Congressman named William Jefferson is currently serving 13yrs in Prison for receiving/giving $100,000 in bribe money (he had spent only $10,000). I know this might not seem much in Nigeria where $45Billion develops feet and nobody does anything. But, out here, even if a politicians "steals" $5, the fact that they're public/govt officials usually makes their punishment extremely severe than if an ordinary citizen committed the same crime.

Bottom line, Atiku is bad for business.

Without Buhari on that ballot--- and as President---it's gonna be business as usual and most of you will suffer like never before.

Everything I have warned yall about has come to pass i.e Do not vote GEJ, He will try to become life President by amending/ extending term limits, He is uber corrupt, He will use and frame Henry Okah, U.S will stop buying oil from Nigeria, Oil prices will fall drastically etc

Vote Tambuwal, Fashola, GEJ etc and watch your country go up in flames before fall of 2016.

What your country needs is someone that can go head on with the corrupt elements without fear or favor. These men above can't do it because they have their fingers soiled too.

Do yourselves a favor and vote Buhari or come back here in 2019 and complain about the same things you've been complaining about since 1999.

major466:
You are wrong to insinuate that the economy is in poor shape. What Nigeria is experiencing at the moment is a short fall in revenue coming in from oil as a result of declining international oil price. The country has enough foreign reserve to last for a much as possible until the situation stabilizes. Besides, the falling oil price didn't surprise our economist. It was actually anticipated as far back as 2012, that as soon as oil prices peak at $140 - $160 per barrel, prices will drop astronomically to about $80 - $70 per barrel in no distant future. That was when the idea of SUREP came on board. The idea of SUREP is to help plan and utilize the surplus monies coming in from oil into provision and development of strategic infrastructural facilities across the country. There's nothing to panic about because Nigeria saw it coming and machineries have been arranged and put in place to soft pedal the economy from the International shock.

On the other hand, declining oil prices is a good omen to Nigeria because it will force the administration to redouble their efforts in the drive towards a vibrant diversified economy. An economy base on oil is not an economy at all. A country dependent on oil will be at the mercy of the international community because it can be used as a political tool by developed countries. It happened in the late 70s and the early 80s when oil prices nosedive so low that it almost led to the collapse of OPEC no thanks to the developed countries hoarding oil products.
Nigeria should use this opportunity to develop the Agric, Service and the Manufacturing sector and gradually take Nigeria far away from oil. Luckily for us, This administration is already doing just that.
This doesn't even make sense.

I think the problem here is you---like a lot of Nigerians--- cannot fathom that it is possible for societies to exist where basic things work: Where bribery is not normal and where government officials are only employed to serve the needs of the citizenry. If Angela Merkel ever had a single, credible, suspicion of corruption leveled against her, first, she'll resign then she'll be disgraced--- probably dragged to court then jailed.

So, hard as it is to imagine, yes, there are societies that abhor corruption; and they are the only functioning ones on earth today.

Poverty has risen in Nigeria, with almost 100 million people living on less than a $1 (£0.63) a day, despite economic growth, statistics have shown.

The National Bureau of Statistics said 60.9% of Nigerians in 2010 were living in "absolute poverty" - this figure had risen from 54.7% in 2004.

EXPOSED! APC Rewards Publisher of Sahara Reporters With A Mansion Worth $5 Million In Atherton California | NewsDay Reporters
Thursday, 13 November 2014 17:45
Written by NewsDay Reporters

London (NDR) – It is no longer news thatSahara Reporters has thrown the ethics of journalism and professionalism in the trash-bin for “Brown Envelopes” with no iota of shame in their sectional, junk and highly biased reportage.

To the gullible Nigerians, this news site is exposing corrupt Nigerian government officials. But every informed Nigerian knows that, this is not entirely true because this online media outfit is now under the payroll of All Progressive Congress (APC) – the main opposition party in Nigeria. This news site like APC, celebrates and rejoices every bad news about Nigeria, Nigerians and the government, but finds it extremely difficult to even point out little achievement made by the government, at least to present balanced and unbiased reportage. When there is no bad news to report about Nigeria, they invent and fabricate one to show to their APC paymasters that they are really working and deserve to be paid. This malicious antic always gladdens the hearts of APC Bigwigs especially, Lai Mohammed – the ‘Liar-in-Chief’ of APC – the modern day Nazi propagandist, Josef Goebbels.

To Omoyele Sowore – the founder and publisher of Sahara Reporters - he is earning a ‘decent’ living by using his online news platform to mislead and hoodwink gullible and highly brainwashed Nigerians (unfortunately in their millions) through highly biased, junk, sensational and sectional journalism. Yes, even the Holy Bible made us to understand that a “worker deserves his wages.” True to that, Sowore, according to our source has been rewarded by APC with a mansion worth $5 million located in Atherton, California, United States for having tried to “deodorize” Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari with a mock online election which presented him as the most popular presidential candidate for the 2015 election.

This mansion, according to an Insider has everything a modern home should have like Swimming Pool; Grand Hall, with 15-foot ceilings and marble floors, ideal for dancing; French doors opening to the veranda; Dining Room with a rouge royale marble fireplace; stained glass windows and a crystal 12-branch chandelier; Red-carpeted double mahogany stairway, complemented by a foliate motif stained glass window on the landing; Wrap-around veranda available for seasonal use and Ample covered or outdoor parking.

This mansion is one of the many promises made to Sowore by APC as the race to 2015 elections heats up. Like the two-edge sword, the same Holy Bible that says a “worker deserves his wages” also made us to understand that the “wages of sin is death”. If Sowore - who claims to be exposing and fighting corrupt Nigerians using his online media outfit is still the same person accepting numerous bribes to do a hatchet job for the corrupt politicians is like kettle calling pot black.

To those that don’t know, Sahara Reporters aka Sharia Reporters is a junk online news site that promotes Boko Haram. It thrives on negativity, hearsay, propaganda, falsehood, sectionalism, sensationalism and survives on political, emotional and psychological blackmail. Their modus operandi is simple: these reporters would sit in front of their laptops, fabricate a story filled with half-truths and more lies and send to air, knowing that they have lots of gullible followers in hundreds of thousands that would believe it. They also know that the Media Team of Mr. President would respond to it.

When the Media Team counters their false story, Sahara Reporters would also report it, even as they know that some people would begin to believe the one from the presidency. Now, as they are reporting the counter-story from the presidency, their "spin-doctors" would be busy fabricating another story that would punch holes on the one from the presidency.

For example:

1. Gen. Gusau resigns - Sahara Reporters (fake story)

2. Army HQ denies Gusau's resignation - Sahara Reporters (counter-story from the presidency).

3. Pres. Jonathan begs Gusau to rescind his resignation (another fake story to punch holes on the counter-story from the presidency)

Now, this is the secret - Sahara Reporters reported the three stories (both the one that is against their fake story), which to any gullible mind proves that they are credible due to the fact that, they didn't shy away from the counter-story by the presidency.

Another thing is that, any of the stories you report (if you like quote Dr. Reuben Abati – Presidential Spokesman), you are reporting for Sahara, because they reported the 3 stories. And when you do this, you are making them more popular and credible since they have not been made to RETRACT the fake story!

Fellow Nigerians, know thy enemies!

Nigerian roads are bad, both at the state and federal levels, but, the greater shame should go to the FG, I am sure the total distance of roads at the Federal level is far less than that of intra city roads of 2 or 3 states combined, the FG gets the bulk of revenue in the country 56% compared to 44% for all other organs, there is no single justifiable reason for the FG not to over perform, those who are comparing a state to the FG are diminishing their arguments, FG has far less responsibility and more revenue than the states and its infrastructure should be top class.
It's a shame, and very reprehensible, that the Federal Government "makes" and controls so much money yet it does absolutely jack shiyyyt to deserve it. And to add insult to injury the Federal Govt does nothing for the people, not even those from whose lands the resources that keeps the country afloat flows from. They turned their people to destitutes and a few just split the money among themselves. If you've even been to certain parts of the Niger-Delta,youll cry for Nigeria. It's a very heart wrenching situation.

Nigeria’s Rate Pledge Tested as Naira Tumbles With Oil

Godwin Emefiele, Nigeria's Central Bank Governor.
The naira’s plunge to an all-time low is threatening Nigerian central bank Governor Godwin Emefiele’s pledge to avoid raising interest rates before presidential elections in February.

Efforts by Africa’s biggest oil producer to stem the rout with dollar sales and a ban on import payments have been overwhelmed by crude’s tumble to a four-year low. The central bank will probably raise its benchmark rate, already at an all-time high of 12 percent, to avoid burning through the nation’s reserves after they fell to a three-month low of $38 billion, according to Capital Economics Ltd. in London.

“If the central bank is to prevent speculation that the naira will continue to fall, putting further upward pressure on prices, it may need to raise interest rates sooner rather than later,” Jack Allen, an assistant economist at Capital Economics, said in an e-mailed note yesterday. “The central bank may face political pressure not to raise rates. The threat of a currency crisis is likely to trump these concerns.”

Nigeria has recently slowed its market interventions after spending billions since mid-September to avoid moving the naira peg for the first time since 2011. The central bank sold $200 million of foreign exchange at an auction on Nov. 5, the least since Feb. 12.

The naira fell 1.3 percent to 172.18 per dollar by 9:28 a.m. in Lagos, a record low. The currency has declined 4.9 percent this quarter.

Oil Tumble

“They’re not willing to feed dollars when they know the broader market is against them,” Gareth Brickman, an analyst at ETM Analytics, said by phone from Johannesburg yesterday. “Drawing a line against a market that smells blood in the water can lead to doom pretty quickly.”

Africa’s largest economy banned paying for imported goods such as electronics, generators and telecommunications equipment, using foreign-exchange bought at bi-weekly auctions, according to a circular posted on the Abuja-based regulator’s website yesterday.

Nigeria, which relies on oil for 80 percent of government revenue, is facing lower export earnings after the average crude price among members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries dropped below $80 for the first time in four years. Reduced intervention boosts the chance of a 50-basis point increase in interest rates to 12.5 percent at the central bank’s Nov. 24-25 meeting, according to Capital Economics.

No Intervention

The bank offers the naira at 155 per dollar, plus or minus 3 percent, at twice-weekly auctions. Ibrahim Mu’azu, a spokesman for the central bank, said yesterday he didn’t know of any plans to devalue the currency.

“Either the CBN keeps intervening in the market to support the naira, in addition to the twice weekly auctions, or the naira is devalued to accommodate the current reality,” Kunle Ezun, a strategist in Lagos at Ecobank Transnational Inc., said in an e-mailed response to questions yesterday.

Emefiele, 53, took control of the central bank in June with a mandate to keep inflation, which has stayed above 8 percent since May, within a 6 percent to 9 percent target band. While he has said he favors lowering borrowing costs, the threat of rising government spending before the elections may spur price increases.

Emefiele’s predecessor, Lamido Sanusi, was suspended by President Goodluck Jonathan in February after Sanusi alleged the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. had retained almost $20 billion in revenue that was due to the government. The NNPC denied the allegations. Sanusi originally told Jonathan last year that almost $50 billion wasn’t accounted for.

The naira’s decline may boost the cost of importing everything from fuel to food, threatening support forJonathan, who’s already under pressure for failing to stem deadly attacks by Islamist militants.

Violence in the northeast of the country, which imports 70 percent of its fuel needs due to inadequate refining capacity, is hurting agriculture and could trigger demand for imported food to fill the void left by local farmers.

“We’re seeing more foreign-exchange flexibility,” Samir Gadio, head of Africa strategy at Standard Chartered Plc in London, said in e-mailed comments. “Perhaps they do not want to burn FX reserves unnecessarily. It’s a risky strategy.”
