Well, truly, in God's calculation/reckoning, no man has lived a day old. The oldest man to have lived on earth, being Methuselah, lived 969years old, and that, is not up to a day in God's calculation. 2Peter 3:8 shows us clearly how God counts Days. "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." Psalms 90:4 "for a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night" A day in God's Calendar = A thousand years on earth. |

mrmrmister:Lemme quickly trash these questions. 1. From the beginning, God didn't creat robots. He created beings with freedom of choice both Angels and Humans alike. Sin originated when a freewill being misused it's freewill and chose evil rather than good. That being was Lucifer. And afterwards, he led other Angels astray with himself, and ultimately, Humans. "wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" 6:23 says the same thing. Sin brought imperfection to the earth especially upon those who have sinned. All have sinned and the consequencies of sin is upon all except those who Jesus have taken away their sins, those who have faith in Him. Notice: The death of Jesus and the justification he brought is not automatically given to anyone, except those who have faith in him. One thing I knew was that I You could have performed MIRACLES if only you never gave up. I've recieved Miracles, I've seen, and I've performed. A Good friend of mine prayed for a-10 years old dead child and she revived. Please, do not be this short sighted (blind). It's NOT God's fault that you couldn't perform miracles. It is your fault! |

God wants a relationship with mankind which He has created. If He had created mankind without freedom of Choice, that aim would be unachievable. So, God created man with freedom of Choice. There's NOTHING like Choice where there's NO multiple options. The Multiple option here is to Choose btw obeying Him or Disobeying Him(rebelling with satan/obeying satan). Deuteronomy 30:19. Deuteronomy 30:19 "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:" Jesus said in Matthew 24:4 "take heed that no man decieve you" Telling us that DECEPTION is in the Earth. God has revealed His Truth. And satan goes about to establish the counterfeit. 2Corinthians 11:13-15. 2Corinthians 11:13-15 "13. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15. Hmmm! One of the Reasons why some choose to be Atheists is because they claim there's no Evidence of God's Existence. Lemme briefly share on "Nature and God" Nature is the LAW(s) ruling the universe. Actually, they are Immutable. E.g the Law Of Gravity, The Law of Cause and Effect, The Laws of Conservation of Mass and Energy. These LAWs reign supreme. However, as the Bible has presented, God set all that in place. And wouldn't do anything on earth UNTIL humans pray to Him. Prayer simply means INVITING GOD to work on Earth. He doesn't come uninvited. Well, I understand that this is WHERE Atheists have problem with the Christian Faith. But, just to mention a Few Among others; I've Learnt about the LAW OF GRAVITY BEING INTERRUPTED; I've FELT the SPIRITUAL REALM; I've SEEN a CRIPPLE RISE UP AND WALK AT A CHRISTIAN's command in Jesus' name. From as Much as I've gathered, I've come to realize some reasons why Atheists believes that God doesn't exist. The Aim of this Thread is to bring those reasons out and Address them. 1. If God exist, what's His Scientific proof? Even Science itself demands that there Must be a God. Carefully studying the Law of Cause and Effect tells us that the Universe Couldn't have been in Existence without being caused. And the Cause has to exist before the Effect By this Scientific Law, there has to be a God who caused the Universe, else it won't be! 2. If there is a God, then, how does He intend to be worshipped considering that there are so many religions professing God. Yes! There are so many Religions. And I can tell you, many are counterfeit! If there is a God, He has to prove Himself in some way(s). Specifically, the God of the Bible has proved Himself to be True. Various Prophecies in the OT and are fulfilled in the NT exactly as it was prophesied. The Words of the Bible are evident in Lives today. Talking about the Concept of Miracles, I'm a living witness. I have seen and performed. But, why is there so many confusions? Why so many religions? Satan founded them for this very purpose of decieving you! 2Corinthians 11:13-15. 3. If there is a God, why has He NOT put to an end sufferings? God created a perfect Earth that there should be NO such thing as Suffering in it. But however, God created Humans with freedom of Choices. And Man, by his freedom of Choice chose to disobey God and ALL mankind became sinners deserving punishment Romans 3:23, 5:17-19. Hence, we are NO longer justified before God but to wait patiently till God's appointed time when He has planned to Perfect the Earth again. Revelations 21:4-5.. I'll Modify and Add other reasons to it later. Also, if as an atheist, you have other reasons, please bring forth. But, I beg you to be open-minded and you shall find answers to your questions. |

Wow!! It's with Great Pleasure and a sense of Responsibility I share this few lines with you. I'd like you to reconsider your decision to rule out the existence of God, following these reasons: 1. What if there is a God? There's sufficient evidence of His existence already. The Law of Cause and Effect, the Law of Teleology, the 1st Law of Thermodynamics The Concept of Miracle etc. 2. What if there is Heaven and Hell and you died without doing the Needful simply because you disbelieve that God exists? That would be a Loss you can NEVER recover from. The answer to this question depends greatly on what is meant by “conclusive” proof of God. Can we reach out and touch God or see Him in the same way that we touch and see people? No. But there are countless ways one can know assuredly that God does exist, that He is real, and He is who He says He is. We will look briefly at three ways of proving His existence using both science and the Bible. [b]1. PROOF OF GOD: THE LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT.[\b] This law of science states that every cause has its effect and every effect has its cause. This law is the basis of all science. As such, this law bears a relationship to the origin of the heavens and the earth. In fact, scientists agree that the universe has not existed forever, that it had a beginning at some point in time. The theory of relativity, which is almost universally accepted among scientists, has certain implications for this Law of Cause and Effect. One is that the universe, defined as time, space, matter, and physical energy had a beginning, that it is not eternal. And it is through Einstein’s equations that scientists can trace the development of the universe back to its very origin, back to what is called the “singularity event” when it actually came into being. Science has proven that the universe really did have a beginning. This means that if the universe had a starting point in history, then it obviously began to exist, and it must have a cause for its existence. Therefore, if the universe needs a cause for its coming into being, then that cause must be beyond the universe— which is time, space, matter, and physical energy. That cause must be something similar to what Christians call “God.” Even Richard Dawkins, probably the most prominent proponent for atheism in our time, admitted in a TIME magazine article that “there could be something incredibly grand and incomprehensible and beyond our present understanding.” Yes, and that is God! We can best summarize this cosmological evidence with the following statements: [b](1) Whatever begins to exist must have a cause for its existence. (2) The universe began to exist. (3) Therefore, the universe must have a cause for its existence. (4) The attributes of the cause of the universe (being timeless, existing outside of space, and so on) are the attributes of God. (5) Therefore, the cause of the universe must be God (Genesis 1:1).[\b] [b]2. PROOF OF GOD: THE LAW OF TELEOLOGY[\b] Teleology is the study of design or purpose in natural phenomena. This law of science essentially means that when an object reflects a purpose, goal, or design, it must have had a designer. Simply put, things do not design themselves. This holds true for the things in the universe, which proves that it had to have a Designer. For example, the earth in orbiting the sun departs from a straight line by only one-ninth of an inch every 1 miles—a very straight line in human terms. If the orbit changed by one-tenth of an inch every 18 miles, it would be vastly larger and we would all freeze to death. If it changed by one-eighth of an inch, we would be incinerated. The sun is burning at approximately 20 million degrees Celsius at its interior. If the earth was moved 10% farther away, we would soon freeze to death. If it was moved 10% closer, we would be reduced to ashes. Are we to believe that such precision “just happened”? Think about it: the sun is poised at 93 million miles from Earth, which happens to be just right. Did this happen by chance or by design? It’s no small wonder that the psalmist alludes to God as the grand designer: [b]“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. . . . [The sun] rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other” (Psalm 19:1, 6).[\b] [b]PROOF OF GOD: THE LAWS OF PROBABILITY AND FULFILLED PROPHECY[\b] There are 1,093 prophecies in the Bible that refer to Jesus and His Church, and each one of those prophecies was fulfilled! The Old Testament contains 48 prophecies that pertain to the crucifixion of Jesus. When applying the laws of probability to calculate the likelihood of several events taking place at or near the same time, all probabilities have to be multiplied together. For example, if the probability of a single event occurring randomly is 1 chance in 5 and the probability of a separate event occurring is 1 chance in 10, then the probability that both events will occur together or in sequence is 1 in 5 multiplied by 1 in 10, which yields 1 in 50. In considering the fact that several different prophets who lived in separate communities over a span of a 1,000 years made predictions of Christ 500 years before His birth, the odds against these prophecies coming true are simply beyond our wildest comprehension. For example, the chances of one man (Jesus) fulfilling just 8 of the prophecies attributed to Him are one in 10 to the 17th power (that’s a number 1 with 17 zeroes). Consider this: imagine covering the entire state of Texas with silver dollars to a level of two feet deep. The number of silver dollars needed to cover the whole state would be 10 to the 17th power. Mark one silver dollar with an “X” and drop it from an airplane. Then thoroughly stir all the silver dollars all over the state. Then blindfold a man and tell him he can travel wherever he wishes in the state of Texas. Then somewhere along the way, he is to stop and reach down into the two feet of silver dollars and pull up the one silver dollar that has been marked with the “X.” What are the chances of his doing this? The same chance the prophets had of eight of their prophecies being fulfilled in any one man in the future (based on the work of Peter W. Stoner and Robert C. Newman in Science Speaks: Scientific Proof of the Accuracy of Prophecy and the Bible [Chicago, IL: Moody Press, 1963, pg. 101-109].) The Bible with all its fulfilled prophecies proves the existence of God. Through the law of probability and the mathematical odds of prophecy being fulfilled, we can know assuredly that there was a divine Designer and Author of the Bible. The same One who brought the universe into existence. “You may say to yourselves, ‘How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?’ If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously” (Deuteronomy 18:21-22). Finally, God, the Creator of the universe and Author of our salvation tells us, [b]“Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. Talking about John 3:13; it shouldn't be confusing at all. Let's see what Jesus meant: Considering the context of Verse 13, taking it from verse 10. Jesus was talking about Himself as Testifying what He has seen (on the Earth). Which they also should have seen and therefore, NOT marvel at/disbelieve His teachings. However, He was surprised that they marvelled at/disbelieved His testimony even tho' He was yet testifying about what should be obvious to them. Here's where verse 13 comes in. In line with that, He said, "If I testify earthly things to you (which you already should know) and you don't believe me; how much more will you disbelieve me if I tell you about HEAVENLY things? Considering the Fact that, 'no man has ever gone to Heaven and returned to tell you these things. But Himself has come down from heaven and has a LIVE Testimony of it'" Here are the Verses: "I assure you, we tell you what we know and have seen, and yet you won't believe our testimony. But if you don't believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven." (John 3:11-13 NLT). Because the people were yet weak and carnal, they couldn't take HEAVENLY Testimonies. That's why Jesus had to keep some until the Time comes when they shall be able to bear/take it. John 16:12-13. So, Jesus was NOT disputing that Elijah was taken up to Heaven. 2Kings 2:11. Now, even tho' Elijah came back as John the Baptist (Matthew 11:12-15), he was without memory. He didn't have the memory of his past life therefore, he didn't know he was Elijah. John 1:19-21. In studying the Bible, understand the context of every verse. That'll help you understand the true meaning of that verse. |

WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE? Jesus died on the cross to bear sin’s punishment for believers. Many people have doubted Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the grave, despite historical evidence. Muslims question, “Why would Allah require His prophet Isa to die?” The Scripture explains that Jesus Christ died for our sins: “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3b-4). Scripture affirms that the sinless Jesus bled and died on the cross to pay the punishment for believing sinners. Let’s study the Scriptures, the Bible, to find out why Jesus’ death and resurrection provide the only entrance for sinners into paradise. THE PUNISHMENT FOR SIN IS DEATH The Bible says the holy God created earth and man perfectly. But Adam and Eve fell to the temptation of Satan and disobeyed God. Ever since Adam’s sin, sin has infected the human race. Each person is guilty: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin is not just big things like murder or blasphemy but also includes lying, lusting, and stealing. Even the love of money or hatred of enemies is sin, according to the Bible. Good works cannot make up for wrongs against the holy God. Compared to His holiness, “all our righteous acts are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6b). Having sinned against God, we deserve His punishment. A judge who pardons lawbreakers isn’t a good judge. Likewise, God will not overlook sin. He pours out His righteous wrath against sinners (Romans 2:1-11). Unbelieving sinners pay for their sin by suffering eternal death in hell: “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23a). THE PROMISE REQUIRED AN INNOCENT DEATH Although God banished Adam and Eve from the garden and the tree of life, He gave them hope of salvation and paradise. He promised to send the woman’s offspring—Jesus— Who would conquer Satan (Genesis 3:15). Until then, men would sacrifice innocent lambs as a substitute for the punishment they deserved. Sacrificing an animal showed men’s humble acknowledgement that their sin required death and showed their faith in the future offspring and sacrifice from God—Jesus—Who would bear the believer’s penalty once and for all. THE PROPHETS FORETOLD JESUS' DEATH From Adam to Jesus, God sent prophets to mankind, warning them of sin’s punishment and foretelling the coming Savior. Seven hundred years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah described Him: “Who has believed what they heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors” (Isaiah 53:1-12). The prophet compared the coming Savior to a lamb, slaughtered for the sins of others. Centuries later, Jesus fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy. Although Jesus is eternally one with God, God the Father sent His Son to earth (John 3:16). Jesus is the promised offspring of the woman (Genesis 3:15), born in human flesh to the virgin Mary. God witnessed that Jesus is His own Son (Matthew 17:5). On seeing Jesus, the prophet John the Baptist cried, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Taking the sin of the world as the sacrificial Lamb of God is why Jesus had to die. He came to take the punishment for sin -death. Jesus prophesied His own death many times: “And taking the twelve, he said to them, ‘See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise’" (Luke 18:31-33). GOD SACRIFICED JESUS FOR SIN During the life of Jesus, crowds thronged around Him for healing and teaching, but the religious leaders scorned Him. They arrested Him and charged Him with blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God (Luke 22:70). Mobs cried out, “Crucify Him!” Soldiers beat, mocked, and crucified Him. On the cross, Jesus bore the punishment of sin. At His death, He cried out, “It is finished” (John 19:30b). Jesus finished paying the punishment for sin as the perfect Lamb of God. As Isaiah prophesied, Jesus was crucified in between two criminals and was buried in a rich man’s tomb. But Jesus didn’t remain in the grave. As He prophesied, Jesus rose from the dead, proving His victory over sin and death. WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE? Jesus died for believing sinners. We cannot reach paradise on our own merit. Remember, the holy God will not let sin go unpunished. If we bore our own sins, we would suffer judgment in the flames of hell. But God sacrificed Jesus as the believer’s perfect Substitute. The Scripture says, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified [made righteous/good] by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation [restored relationship]. “Therefore, just as through one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned. . . . So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 5:6-12; 18-21). Jesus died to provide the only way to eternal life. If God is showing your sin and need of Jesus, repent, turning from your sin and own way of trying to please God. You cannot fix yourself. Believing the Bible’s truth about Who Jesus is and what He did, trust in Jesus as Savior from sin and follow Him as the Lord of your life. He will lead and strengthen you through His Word, the Bible.
