Politics / Re: Why The Padded Budget May Be The Reason For Osinbajo's Meeting Saraki And Others by IsraeliAIRFORCE: 8:10pm On Feb 25, 2016
Stop misleading Nigerians on the significance of Saraki's leadership style and opposition to the "failed budget".

There are two chambers of National Assembly and both are required to agree on their version and figures before harmonisation.

Is the senate version of ammended budget as re-submitted by the Executive different from HOR? Why Saraki and not Dogora?

South-South/South-East Governors to Hold Summit to Engender Economic Growth

Onitsha - A marathon meeting of the South-East/South-South Governors yesterday ended in Awka with an agreement to schedule a meeting of the stakeholders from the zone for a cross fertilization of ideas on best ways to move the zones forward. The meeting was attended by the host Governor Peter Obi (Anambra). Other Governors were Sullivan Chime

(Enugu), Theodore Orji (Abia), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta),  Liyel Imoke (Cross River),  Engr. Dave Umahi (Ebonyi Deputy Governor).

Although the Governors came in piece meal for the meeting it officially ended by about 4:30 pm with a group photograph and reading of their resolution to the journalists.

Addressing journalists after the meeting on their resolutions at the Anambra state Governor’s Amawbia lodge , the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Liyel Imoke, said that the  Summit which would hold in the first week of January, 2014, and would attract prominent leaders form the Zones.

Gov. Imoke explained that the Summit would offer a platform for the cross-fertilization of ideas and contributions of input on common needs of the Zone and the country with the ultimate aim of engendering economic and other activities that would be to the greater glory of the country.

The Governors, after assessing the State of the nation, reiterated their total support for the Government of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and called on Nigerians to support him in his efforts and determination to make Nigeria a better place for all Nigerians. They encouraged Nigerians to promote only those things that would promote the unity and progress of the country.

Receiving the Governors to Anambra, Gov. Peter Obi took the opportunity to introduce the APGA candidate in the Anambra State gubernatorial election, Dr. Willie Obiano to them. He said the meeting was the first to be hosted in Anambra state.

South-South Economic Summit,Asaba, Delta State
A goodwill message by Mr. Emeka Ugwu-Oju, President, South-East South-South Professionals of Nigeria (SESSPN) at the 2nd South-South Economic Summit held at the Convention Centre, Asaba, Delta State on 25-28 april 2012

PROTOCOLS

First, let me congratulate the Governors of the South-South, the BRACED Commission and all those who have made this event possible. I also welcome all those who have come from other parts of the world to grace this Summit.

This 2nd South South Economic Summit is taking place at the right time. At a time the nation is beginning to be distracted again by a very premature and, I dare say, unnecessary controversy over which region or zone takes over the presidency in 2015, it makes sense that the South-South zone is focusing on how to create a sustainable economy to its people.

The strength of this nation does not lie in Abuja but in the states. The strength of Nigeria lies among its various people. The symbol of the political power of Nigeria may reside in Aso Villa, but the wealth of this nation lies in the ability of individual Nigerians and the competences each of us brings to the table. What I am saying is that the people are the major drivers of any economy. The development of Nigerian will eventually be the sum of the developments in the states and in the zones. Therefore we must look inwards to unleash our economic capacities. The advantage of regional economic integration is that there is advantage in numbers.

While we debate and wait for the day Nigeria will see the wisdom to return to the Federal structure that made this zone part of the fastest growing economy in Africa, we must do that which is within the ability of the zones. We of the South-East/South-South Professionals are committed to the unity of our two zones based on mutual respect among the two zones. Most of the Governors of the South East/South-South states are all professionals like us. Therefore, we will have no difficulty in working with them to realize our dream of the South-East/South-South Development Zone anchored on the two institutions : The BRACED Commission and the South East Nigeria Economic Commission(SENEC).

Since 2005, the South-East/South-South Professionals have done a lot of work to create a new thinking among our politicians and our people. The two zones have great potentials for economic boom to create a sustainable homeland for the people of this area. The human and material resources are there. For example Calabar port can be as viable as Apapa port. Port Harcourt port can be more viable than Tin Can Island port. After all, the people of the South-East and South-South zones are dominant in import and export. These two zones also have enormous oil and gas. Therefore we must take our destiny in our hands.

Towards  achieving that goal, we are planning a South East South South Development Forum which will take place in November 2012. The theme of the Forum is “From Talk to Action“. An Actionable Development Agenda for the South East South South Zones  sponsored by SESSP will be presented for discussion and adoption at the event. The Working Group on the Agenda includes the following development experts: Dr. Umar Eleazu,Prof Anya O Anya,Prof. Pat Utomi,Prof. Chukwuma Soludo,Dr. Osita Ogbu, Pat Bassey, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa,Bismarck Rewane,Dr. Ike Abugu, Arc. Denzil Kentebe, Mrs.Ndidi Nwuneli,Dr. Boniface Chizea, Chief Chike Nwanze. All that we require are the determination and the focus to do those things that are necessary. I have no doubt that we can find the will.

Once more, on behalf of the South-East/South-South professionals, I congratulate you all and wish you a very fruitful summit.

Emeka Ugwu-Oju

President, South-East/ South-South Professionals

Had Ahmed/Akume and Gbajabiamila won NASS leadership, this disgrace called budget would've pass as it is presently drafted.

There are substantial opposition representatives in the leadership of many committees, thanks to Saraki and Dogora. We expect justice to prevail after intense debate and defence for and against each component of the draft before an acceptable people's oriented budget will be approved.

Politics / Re: Nigeria’s Crude Oil Production Up By 252,800bpd by IsraeliAIRFORCE: 9:37am On Feb 12, 2016
This means this regime has lost more than 600,000 barrels pay day since inaugration.

Nigeria was doing an average of 2.4 million barrels pay day under the last administration.

What we can't get through price, can be compensated by quantity sold.

I thought we were told by APC that one million barrels were stolen by Diezani Madueke on daily basis? This means we were producing 2,400,000 plus 1,000,000 per day.

How did the output degenerate to 1.6 million?

No, Jonathan enjoyed the highest average oil prices. I have never mentioned Yaradua.. Between 2011 to 2014 we had consistently high oil prices.

Obasanjo had up and downs in Oil prices but under Jonathan oil prices stayed high almost through out.

Why are you trying so hard to separate between leaders of PDP 16 years of so-called failed government?

Is like APC is trying to so hard to redefine PDP Government to mean JONATHAN's Administration

All APC Presidential Candidates were better and had more experience in democratic governance than Buhari.

Buhari best potential would've better served Nigerians if he is appointed and given free hand to oversee ICPC, EFCC and CCT without political interference.

Buhari don't even have the capacity to allow his ministers to rise to their full potentials.

Talk to any unbiased economist about the state in which the yaradua and GEJ administration met the Nigeria economy and the state in which GEJ left it.

The problem is that many of you GEJ fans have failed to recognize his failures. He was kicked out for a reason.

You need total emancipation from hypocrisy, mental slavery to APC sycophancy and corrective balance in sense of judgment.

Understand how helpful it is to stop digging when you find yourself in a hole.

Yes, GEJ Government may not be the best for Nigeria but the Economic Team was far beyond average compare to whatever APC can imagine let alone offer.

GEJ had a team that are capable of defending any ministry or department without keeping the citizens, investors and international community in doubt on what card the country will play to remain afloat.

We are presently sinking faster than anyone can imagine while APC government have no clue on what to do to convince investors (local and international) to put their money into a sinking economy.

Warri is the economic hub of Delta state and not Asaba. Urhobos, Itsekiris and Ijaws are the big 3 of Delta state but why would the capital of a state be located in the outskirts of a state rather than the middle of a state? Warri is more economically viable than Asaba. What does Asaba and the whole of Delta North contribute to the IGR of Delta state?

Mariam Babangida decided to use politics due to her husband being the head of state as at then to cheat the Urhobos, Itsekiris and Ijaws by moving their capital to the most remote part of Delta State. The time has come for the Urhobos, Itsekiris and Ijaws to take back rightfully belong to them. Delta North are a minority in Delta state. The capital should either be in Warri, Ughelli or Abraka.

You are the bigot here Mr., not me.

Is Falana an Hausa man?

Why should Adeosun comparison to NOI degenrating to tribal connotation when the main subject Falana didn't?

Must you bring Adeosun into this? ? You people with your tribal foolishness. The Soludo who demystified her, is he Yoruba? If Adeosun under-performs after 4-years she mustn't ve be spared. NOI can be a genius to you but to me she was incompetent and overrated, and will always be associated with perhaps the most scandalous financial crimes perpetrated in recent times.

Who is a bigot between us? What has Yoruba and Igbo got to do with this thread?

NOI was same with Adeosun during subsidy removal January, 2012 and was there to answer questions on why now and offered other sundry explanations.

Soludo is not a Finance minister hence the comparative analogy put him off hence Adeosun.

Dr Okonjo Iweala wasn't Nigeria President rather a Minister for Finance same with Mrs. Adeosun.

Mr. Israel, can a thief catch a thief? I am not calling madam NOI a thief (the courts would decide that) but the sad reality is that she was an integral part of an administration that lacked the will to confront corruption. The Integrated Payroll system and TSA implementation you alluded to under her stewardship would have eventually failed, been jettisoned, or at best half-heartedly implemented coz those meant to oversea it were largely already compromised. Neither her nor her boss had the guts to fight tge system the way the current administration is currently doing.

Do you want to accredit her innovations and policies to Buhari?

Fashola once exonerated himself by telling all who care to note that he don't sign cheques hence that exonerated him from any crime committed during his tenure.

The problem I have with most of your type is what huge responsiblity you attach to NOI without given such to Adeosun.

Until now, we have no replacement for her. She answered every question on virtually every problem Nigeria had but now who do we give the burden we laid on NOI?

She wasn't the President, stop comparing her to/with Buhari

Just agree that she is a genius.

Leave them to keep shouting one side. It is not about filling arrest quota (we arrested one PDP so we should arrest one APC so we looked balanced). He who is guilty should face the law, and if it's 90% PDP then so be it, they were in power for the past 16 years after all.

There are processes attached to the law and there is the perception of justice, and they are not always the same thing, neither do they always overlap. Processes are man made and can fail, but the end goal and intention should be what is kept in mind at all times - a sense of JUSTICE. Anybody you think should be investigated and is not being investigated, draw attention to it, gather evidence and submit to EFCC or other bodies.

Please, always be contextual and relate your submissions to the premise put forward by the op.

We are being presented with American system which is applied universally without respect of persons within their jurisdiction and consequently, it is being juxtaposed with Nigerian system that is totally flawed and inconsistent.

My comment remains: Equal treatment arouses no suspicion and I didn't mention names.

Life without emotion is meaningless. The reason corrupt people got away with crime in Nigeria is because millions of Nigerians has no single emotional attachment to their collective wealth. How can someone steal from you and you occupied most of your time and energy blowing meaningless grammar defending the indefensible? As an Igbo man I find that astonishing because our traditional Igbo culture abhors anything associated with stealing.

Let me help you to understand my stand point by quoting my previous comment in another thread before you created this one.

IsraeliAIRFORCE:
This judge knows how to punish corrupt Nigerians.

EFCC should take most of their cases to him. Corrupt Politicians should be jailed a year for a million embezzled, stolen or misappropriated multiplied by the amount involved.

This means, if Metu is found guilty then it should be 400 years imprisonment.

If Yerima is convicted, he should spend 1000 years in prison.

From the above submission, it is clear that you are assuming much that have no relation to my submission on this thread.

The reason Metuh was handcuffed and Dasuki not has been clarified a long time ago for all who ARE interested in knowing, there is absolutely no issue there of preferential treatment. I get so easily bored and have little patience for people who cry wolf any time any attempt is made to arrest public officers linked to corruption scandals, did they care about preferential treatment when they were helping themselves to the money?

The injustice is not one being handcuffed and the other not being handcuffed, the injustice is the lives pushed into poverty and the numerous countable and uncountable deaths we can directly attribute to corruption and the lost opportunities brought about by corruption, that there is the real injustice. If you think EFCC is being one sided in its fight submit your case with evidence. It isn't all about making noise online and trying to pass off anecdotes as fact. It is only logical that most of the people being arrested are PDP members, the party was in charge for the past 16 years!! It is called opportunity!

Stop wasting your time and depreciating your keyboard if you don't understand the comment you quoted.
