RomanceRe: A Nairalander To Nairalanders: Please Save My Relationship With A Nairalander by iswallker(m): 10:31pm On Jul 28, 2014
latino2swt: This is a true life story...
Not from/about a friend, a brother or a classmate but about myself and my life.

There is this girl(a Nairalander) I love with everything within, outside and around me. We are from the same State but different Local Government Area. I and her elder sister attended the same school. I met her during the December vacation of 2010/2011 academic session. After much persuasion, persistence and with the help of my good friend who was close to her, she granted me audience. We talked and became casual friends thereafter.
Febuary 2011, I proposed but her reaction though pre-assumed did not go well with me. As a man, i gathered courage and launched yet but another failed attempt same month. March same year saw hat-trick of proposal turned down again. My senior on detecting my mood inquired to know what's up. Wholeheartedly, I told him everything. Contrary to what I assumed would be his reaction he laughed and said, 'kid bro, in life good things comes in a challenging way and don't try to prove a point that to be a man is a day's job'. I agreed within me to make a final attempt. I did, this time 'please talk something else' was the reply. Was that really my final attempt? NO! I called daily for six more months telling her that same old story and receiveing that same old feedback.
October 2011, I found my joy. Anytime my phone beeped, I smiled because she was always the one. My life was never the same again. It was then I confirmed that patience though bitter comes with a sweet fruit. Sincerely, I was uplifted physically, morally, emotionally, academically and health-wise. My life was never the same.
Unfortunately, what I have been seeing in Nollywood movies happened in September 2012. Without any quarrel or attempted quarrel, things fell apart. Though it torn me apart, I remained focused. I considered it a battle I must win or die trying. Why? Because I couldn't imagine myself telling another person other than Mm...n YES I DO in the altar when it's time.
I fought with all available means to refix my ever-valued relationship. People were insulted along the way. I can still remember I kept a very good friend at arm's length for telling me that 'while waiting for the desireable, there is nothing wrong moving on with the availables till the desireable is available'. I only forgave him in April 2013 when we(I and my Precious) found out that we were made for each other.
Life was worth living again but recently(last week to be precise), I sensed something better imagined than experience may happen. She doesn't call nor text again. I can observe a slight deviation from the way we used to speak on phone. Our latest 2go conversation ended this way:
Latino: Precious, I love u passionately
Mm..n: thanks but i don't have time for love matter now.

I sincerely love her, this she knows. Since our first meeting in 2010, no matter how intelligent, good-looking, nice, caring, loving etc a girl is, my inner man always tell me 'Yours is 100% better'.

Nairaland n Nairalanders, I strongly believe ur kind words, advice and encouragement can save my relationship. She is one of us(an active nairalander). She will certainly see/read this, Please let her see reasons to leave the part-time friends stuff and embrace reality.

Please LET IT BE BECAUSE OF U, LET IT NOT BE BECAUSE OF U.
Let it be because of u my joy is complete.
Let it not be because of u it move from bad to worst.

I believe in the power of your words even as I remain focus in the words of an English author Alan Alexander Milne, 'Rivers know this: there is no hurry, we shall get there some day'

Thanks my fellow ever-caring Nairalanders...

FashionRe: Ladies: What Makeup Reveals About You by iswallker(m): 11:58am On Jul 23, 2014
MadCow1: Hey! Why dont you be natural and let your hair grow wild, stop using deodorant and let your natural scent ooze through, stop using lotion and let your skin be naturally dry or oily whichever.

Make-up is a womans way of completing her look. I can agree that there are those who over do it, but when a make-up is done properly (which does not necessarily mean light make-up), a womans beauty is maximized.

Not all of us are created equal. Whilst some have the smoothest of skins, others have to deal with blemishes, black heads, bumps, rascally facial hairs, uneven skin tones, birthmarks in the weirdest of places, receeding hairlines, scanty haed of hair, balding, acne, e.t.c. Women who fall into this category use make-up and hair-extensions to cover these blemishes thus boosting their self-confidence and allowing them create that all important first impression.

If a woman walks up to you with unruly nappy hair, face full of spots, acne and blemish, lips dryer than the sahara, looking like something straight out of Bed after a nightmare, you wouldnt even give her a second glance.

You boys need to cut women some slack. They have to deal with so many undue pressures that we men put on them. A woman has to look good for us, maintain a certain weight, a certain shape, e.t.c.

If you dont like a woman with Make-up, go date those Deeperlife biitches. If you like a woman who does what she needs to look good, then date regular women. But dont judge a certain group based on your very own prejudice. We all differ one from another.

#To All the Make-Up wearing Biitches, I love you all the way you are. grin cool

koastar: Good day all, pls I need your advice on this issue.

A friend asked me this and I don't know what to tell him. According to him he was asked to present someone that read chemical engineering in an oil company by a close friend of his who works there.

My friend is an accountant and presently earns 60k per month where he works. He has a wife who is not working and a kid.

His wife is a chemical engineer by training and his only brother is also unemployed who read chemical engineering as well. His brother has been living with them for 2yrs now after his NYSC without job. My friend and his brother lost their parents while they were still very young and they are the only children of their parents.

My friend is now confused who to present to his friend for the job, his wife or brother. Your advice pls.

The salary for the oil job is 600k per month excluding allowances.

HealthRe: JOHESU Sues NMA, Says Doctors Strike Illegal by iswallker(m): 1:53pm On Jul 17, 2014
aikeron: And this is my problem with doctors, always babbling and ranting, yet avoiding the core of the matter. Why not address the issue at hand rather than flaunting ur usual vain ego? The FG has challenged doctors to a public debate on this issue but doctors do know most of the demands on their 24-point agenda are unjustifiable. How dare you try to frustrate other health professionals from attaining the peak of their career. Who has made u gods? It's not done anywhere in the world! Nigerians have grown, they have become more enlightened hence doctors cannot gather any public sympathy as far as this strike is concerned. Majority of the masses dislike doctors already cuz of their overbearing attitude.
A lot of doctors claim that Nigeria is not yet ripe for consultancy status to be initiated for other health professionals, fearing that there will be confusion in the system, yet they believe Nigeria is mature enough to have a Surgeon-general, for doctors to be paid as much as thr foreign counterparts and for them to have customized plate-numbers on their cars. Whatever happened to asking the government to streamline the practice by boldly outlining the job descriptions of a consultant pharmacist, consultant lab-scientist, etc as distinguished from a consultant doctor so as to avoid the so-called feared clashes. That would have seemed a more reasonable demand to make.
It baffles me that in this 21st century where the yearning of every developing country is to attain international best practices, our Nigerian doctors can stand up and scream that what is obtainable in many climates in the world should not be adopted by Nigeria.
As a matter of fact if priority is to be given in adopting any latest technology/methodology/guideline/policy/, such priority should be delegated in adopting developments related to health practices because human life is involved. There is no practice too early to adopt anywhere in the world as long as it will improve health and boost the quality of human life.
The consultancy training and title Doctors are trying to deny others from undergoing and attaining has always been in existence for years in saner climates. The Pharm D program that Nigerian Pharmacy schools are gradually adopting for example has been running in the US and other western countries since the 80's. It is also running across all the Pharmacy schools in Ghana, SA, even Kenya amongst other African countries. For how long do we keep giving excuses?
The usual insinuation by doctors that other health professionals are a collection of frustrated individuals who dropped out of medical schools or could not secure admission to study medicine is a laughable ego-induced generalization. I have a lot of colleagues who have genuine passion for what they studied in school. I for example scored 286 (enough to grant me admission into medical college) in one JAMB-sitting and went straight to apply for Pharmacy which I studied, and so did it go for a number of my friends.
Doctors have really had it their ways over the years in Nigeria, From the continual insistence that only doctors be made ministers of health and CMDs in public hospitals to using their over-exalted positions to intimidate and cow the government into yielding to their ever greedy demands. The time has come for other professionals to have their voices heard. Power is changing hands, and the time is now!
You sound like a broken record.. how did you score 286 in jamb sef... grin

JEITO: (1) Her mindset: I like people that have justified reasons for their actions, not those with crowd mentality( followers of public trend or vogue)
(2) I love girls that wear corporate( especially those that tuck-in their shirt and even put on ties)
(3) Industrious girls; not those that believe the man should practically spoon-feed them.
(4) Girls that are well read: she may not know everything, but she should know something about some basic things.
(5) I am attracted to girls that are open: girls that can tell you what's wrong with them @ 1 asking cos me no sabi probe for too long...
(6) Girls that love sport (especially those that support Chelsea fc)

HealthRe: Seriously, Doctors Are Small gods - Funke Egbemode (Sun News) by iswallker(m): 7:51pm On Jul 10, 2014
nobilis: People always complain that doctors did this; doctors did that.
When people are treated for free in hospitals and asked to pay up later and they refuse to pay and escape from the hospital premises, no one says anything. Because they feel that the doctor is running a charity organisation. They fail to understand that the hospital is a business venture. I wonder how many people among us who have heard the phrase: "once bitten, twice shy".

For some who are calling for the sack of doctors, just bear in mind that according to the constitution of the International Labour Organisation, you cannot sack striking workers. It goes against labour regulations.

So many people are saying doctors are greedy and want everything for themselves. But they have failed to ask themselves, "who started this fight in this first place?" When we have answered that question, we will know where the problem started from. This monstrosity called JOHESU came into existence with only one aim in mind. And I wonder what will happen when they finally achieve that aim. They are all strange bedfellows. Even amongst the nurses, there are quarrels between BSc Nurses and Diploma nurses.

JOHESU claims that being consultants is now d peak their careers. I wonder when consultancy became the peak of their careers. Because it hasn't been so all these while. And since they claim that healthcare is evolving, I wonder what that "consultancy peak" will evolve to in the nearest future.

If these people want to be consultants because they want to be better at their jobs, it will be more understandable. But what the populace has failed to understand is that they are trying to do this thru d backdoor. Before a person becomes a medical consultant, the person undergoes a certain period of "residency training". But these health workers have nothing of the sort in place. They equate having a PhD to being a consultant. But they fail to understand that PhD is an academic degree and has no bearing (so to speak) in a hospital. They also fail to mention that most resident doctors also have PhDs or are pursuing PhDs.

Like I said, if they are clamoring for this because they want to be better at their work, it will be a different case. But their main aim is just to oppose the work of doctors and also to earn the same thing that doctors earn without working as much as d doctors work. Where this consultancy thing has been tried, they always actively obstructed the work of doctors. I won't mention the names of specific hospitals.

I don't want to go further because this issue has dragged on for a long time.
In the end, we shall see.
House officer to medial officer to resident doctor to consultant. Doctors are a wonderful breed. I pity ijoesu... grin

Djtm: They are just pissing me off!!! Wtf? Our government is a very useless one for this sort of crap to be going on! What's their own concern about how much other specialists are paid? As long as you're paid what you're worth, you shouldn't care about what others earn. If a programmer has worked for a certain number of years, has so much experience under his belt, he has the right to become a consultant programmer. IMO, doctors are overhyped in Nigeria. Well, our leaders do not give a sh1t, so people can continue to die as long as they can afford to go abroad once they have a slight headache.
