it is fun to me sha, I accumulate one week game on a slip, staking 200 and most time payout is about 150k, I've been betting since mid 2015 have only won thrice and all three payout were about 150k., when I won my first bet I attempted playing above what I can afford to lose, 1k,5k etc, when I lost those heavy stake I experienced what the op listed above. which isn't fun.

CareerRe: Masters Or Stay On Job? by iswallker(m): 4:49pm On May 03, 2016
bicmitchum:
This is a point in my life where I really need other opinions about my pending decision.
Here are the points:

-I graduated first class some years ago after completing studies at the University of Lagos
-Secured numerous masters admission with and without scholarship and intended to go for masters immediately, but got an attractive job offer with an oil multinational. Took the job offer.
-I've worked now about 4+ years with this multinational and the going has been incredibly terrific. Even with the incredible layoffs in my company and in the oil industry, it looks very likely I'll continue to keep my job.
-Every year I have continued to apply for masters in universities abroad given my intention to really acquire a masters and possibly a PhD degree. Never once accepted any of the offers I have been getting. Simply ignored them. As the years rolled by, the offers are no longer coming as usual. I'm getting turned down by schools.
-This year I have now obtained an offer to complete my masters at the No.1 ranked university in Canada, my desired destination. The only offer I got among the top schools I applied to. No scholarships.
-I'm yet unentitled to study leave

Here's the question: do I quit my job and go complete this masters in a really reputable school or do I stay back in Nigeria and continue slugging it out in the oil industry? Who knows what will come of the industry as the oil price continues to flutter? Who knows how my future might turn out if I leave to go chase the masters?

Here's my decision: Work is getting boring as time races on. I'm not getting any younger. I'm in my very late twenties. I should quit, go chase my masters and embrace any uncertainty that may come out of that. If I'm unable to secure an attractive job I'll go with academics for life whether in Canada or in Nigeria. I might even secure a Canadian citizenship. Canada is a lovely destination where I don't mind spending a large chunk of my life.

My worry: I have a comfortable life here. Why shake the bottle? Why stir the pot? Racism is still rife in these "white" countries. My life could get unbearable mixing in a culture I'm not familiar with.

Any inputs, please.
nice story but its still for the gods.... grin
FashionRe: Every Slim Nigerian Girl Will Relate To These Problems by iswallker(m): 3:37pm On May 03, 2016
Naijasinglegirl:
* We’re always cold The harmattan and rainy season is unfavourable on us. Without much fat on our bones, we’re always shivering no matter the heavy clothes we put on.

* We always get reminded that we’re skinny – People always feel the need to let us know we’re skinny, as if we don’t already know. Like they just HAVE to break the news to us in case we forgot. Our family members are most guilty of that..

* Our pants get baggy midday and in the flap – Sometimes we put on some certain form of clothing but due to the stretching of the fabric, our pants are wide-leg by noon and the flap is stretched in a manner that makes it seems we have a p*ni*.
This makes me sad. How’d my jeans get 2 sizes bigger in 6 hours?? Then we have to wash the pants to get them back tight. And the cycle repeats itself.

* We make terrible cuddle buddies – Lack of meat on our bones make certain joints and parts of us sharp like a knife, like elbows, knees and chins. Have you ever placed your head on his chest and he goes "JESUS CHRIST! You just stabbed me with your cheek bone.”

* Gusts of winds are dangerous – Have you ever had to battle a strong gust of wind that almost swept you into traffic? And then when it's raining, it becomes a struggle to stay standing with an umbrella on a rainy windy day. We have to hold our umbrella with both hands! Unless you find a pole or something heavy to hang on to, our umbrella tends to turns inside out.

* People pick us up to test their strength – Skinny girls get picked up randomly by people who want to see how strong they are. Some guys would no longer go to the gym to carry weight when they have a skinny neighbour next door.

* We can't give blood – We want to do good in the world and give back sometimes. So when we go to donate blood, we often get met with side-eyes from doctors who feel we missed our direction.

* We have to prove to folks that we eat – The assumption that you have an eating disorder, as if looks can diagnose mental health. People ask us countless times “Do you eat?” We feel pressured to clean our plates when we eat with others. When we don’t, people around us say, “This is why you have refused to add weight!.”

* We can’t exercise without being judged – We tell people that we want to start exercising because it's healthy and they look at us up and down as if we are mad.
And then they ask the dreaded question, "Do you want to disappear?"

*Always. Needing. Belt Or our jeans would never fit. We even need belt with leggings.

*Wearing the same size bra you wore in junior secondary school. It's every annoying that we've been wearing the same bra size since JSS2.

*You ALWAYS have to add more holes to your belts. We always need custom made holes in our belts because the last hole is never tight enough!

Sellers at Ikeja under bridge keep harassing us. To come in from 'brrreast and nyash drugs' and those in Yaba harassing us to buy butt pads and foam bra when we walk past.

The conductor of the bus ALWAYS makes us sit on a stool between the driver's seat and first passenger seat because he feels we don’t need a lotta space. By the time we get to our destination, we’ve been assaulted by the hardness of the chair. WICKEDNESS!

*No songs about us. Nigerian musicians never EVER sings songs about how hot skinny girls are. Only how hot curvy girls are.
You'll never hear lyrics like, "I like the way she dey whine her flat nyash. Her agbalumo b00bs dey make my head kolo. I like the way everybody just dey turn as she dey waka with that her tiny laps. Her small waist dey do me strong thing oh. Baby be mine and I go protect you from breeze."

There are COUNTLESS skinny girl problems! Which ones did I miss?

Yes Dangote is much more respected that Prof Wole Soyinka... Who Nobel Laureth don help? How has that contributed to the growth of the nation financially? His Laureth nobel is more of great benefit to him not me

We dey talk about people who control the world with money, u dey mention Wole Soyinka because he's a nobel... Mind you, Dangote is the 23rd richest man in the world if I'm not mistaken
you certainly need university education... cheesy

Whether you give 1000 reasons why university is rated above polytechnic, it's never an excuse for not attaining heights in life..

Hardwork and your mindset is the bedrock of success and not HND or Bsc... In fact, hunger will be your surname if you think Bsc is an automatic passport to getting rich... I have never regretted attending a polytechnic because I've got goals, dreams and visions in life.. When you don't have a map for your life people who aren't even worth talking to you will start giving you advice on how to live your life, hence, you start getting worked up over irrelevant topics like this.

Nothing is as important as making money in life.. Let me tell you something, a rich illiterate is more respected than a broke PhD holder.. That's why Dangote is much more respected than Prof Wole Soyinka anytime any day.

We are in a country where the future of the youths lies in the hands of the ministers...

Person wey buy clothes from boutique go discriminate against person wey wear okrika;

Person we go OAU go claim superiority over person wey go OOU;

Person wey dey use Toyota Camry go claim superiority over person wey dey use Peujout 504;

Person wey dey use Bold5 go discriminate person wey dey go Asha 501 ... Whaaaaat a country !!!!
Was enjoying your writeup till you goofed by saying dangote is more respected than someone who won a Nobel laureth prize..... sad

I am beginning to suspect the plan by some enemies of Nigeria...."herdsmen" herdsmen ......this is what I keep hearing.. .....these same herdsmen that depend on their hosts to sustain their cattle will still be the one to "attack" them in the cool of the night and burn down their host's homes to achieve what? This is nothing but an external force at work wanting to break us up. As much as I detest the unruly and pugnacious nature of the nomadic Hausa/Fulani's, I don't think the Hausa/Fulani herdsmen that we see almost everyday are the ones killing and maiming people around.....no no no I don't think so. Nigerians beware some forces that are living with us are playing the "ethnic games with our psyche" let's be watchful.
People that kill don't look different from the people we see everyday....they look harmless and innocent...the authorities should get to the root of the matter though....
