METRONDLEA uncovers airport cartel planting hard drugs in passengers’ luggagePublished on April 24, 2019 By Chijioke Jannah

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a cartel, which specialised in planting illicit drugs in travellers’ luggage.

The NDLEA Chairman, Col. Muhammad Abdallah (rtd), disclosed this in a statement.

The cartel was uncovered after NDLEA detectives embarked on investigation of a Nigerian lady identified as Zainab Aliyu.

Zainab was accused of entering Saudi Arabia with tramadol. The implication in this discovery by NDLEA was the realisation that many Nigerians arrested and executed for drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia might be innocent.

Zainab was arrested by Saudi Arabia Police on December 26, 2018 shortly after arriving for Lesser Hajj.

Zainab, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, had travelled from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in company with her mother, Mrs. Maryam Aliyu, and sister, Hajara Aliyu.

She was later arrested over allegations that a luggage, bearing her name tag, contained the unlawful substance.

However, while in detention, the NDLEA had received a petition from Zainab’s father, seeking a probe of his daughter’s ordeal.

Consequently, the NDLEA Commander in charge of MAKIA had launched an investigation, which culminated in the arrest and arraignment before a Federal High Court in Kano of seven staff of the airport.

The accused are Idris Umar Shehu (alias Umar Sanda), Sanni Suleiman, Nuhu Adamu, Rhoda Adetunji, Udosen Itoro Henry and Sanni Hamisu.

According to a report of the investigation, a copy of which was made available to journalists yesterday, a suspected cartel in the airport had planted the tramadol-bearing luggage on Zainab.

In the report, which has since been forwarded to the Consul-General in Jeddah for action, it was further established that Zainab who, like her mother and sister, had only a luggage, was not aware that a second bag had been labelled in her name.

The NDLEA said: “Based on the investigation activities carried out, it has been revealed that the said Zainab Habibu Aliyu is not the owner of the second luggage tagged in her name.

“On 24th of December 2018, Maryam Habibu Aliyu and her two daughters, Hajara Habibu Aliyu and Zainab Habibu Aliyu, who are students of Maitamia Sule University, Kano, were to travel to Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj. The three passengers had one luggage each.

“At the Departure Hall, three bags belonging to the three passengers were given to one Bako A. Salisu, who weighed the bags, tagged and gave the labels to the passengers.

“Immediately the luggage of the passengers were checked in, Rhoda Adetunji, an official of the Airport Authority (one of the accused persons) approached them, asking for their remaining luggage as the luggage checked-in by the passengers were lower than the total weight they were entitled to travel with – two of their luggage weighed 36kgs while one weighed 17kgs.

“The passengers ignored the said Rhoda Adetunji and went to the arrival hall to purchase yellow card and by the time they came back from the arrival hall to the departure hall, screening for boarding had already started and the three passengers all went for boarding. They never consented nor knew that any other luggage was tagged to the name of any of the passengers.

“On 26th of December 2018 about 12.45 midnight, the Saudi Arabia police came to the hotel room of Maryam and her daughters in Saudi Arabia to arrest one of her daughters, Zainab, on allegation that one of the luggage tagged to her name and passed has prohibited drugs, tramadol. Zainab is presently in detention in Saudi Arabi awaiting investigations and prosecutions.

“Following receipt of the complaint, seven people working at MAKIA were arrested in connection with the offence.

“In the course of the investigations, the telephones of all the suspects were seized by the agency for investigations, while going through the phones of the suspects one after other, it was discovered that the following happened between Sani Suleiman and Idris Umar, alias Umar Sanda.

“On 24th December 2018, Sani Suleiman with phone number 08036066448 was in conversation with Umar Sanda with phone number 08065499791 at 8.26a.m., 12.47a.m., 03.56p.m., and 4 p.m.

“On the same 24th December 2018, Sani Suleiman with number 08036066448 sent a WhatsApp picture of two parcels to Umar Sanda on phone number 08065499791.

“Also on the same 24th December, Suleiman sent a WhatsApp picture of two coloured luggage to phone number belonging to one Alhaji Gabari now at large.”

grin grin grin
I think the government is not serious about this light(Electricity) problem if they are really serious instead of giving us all this bs about how many Mpw was added to the national grid i propose that they should tell us hw many hrs of constant electricity we can get in a day and make a shedule so it is organized for example for if the say we get 6 hrs of electricity everyday, the schedule can be as follows:
Mon- restore power from 6am-8am and restore power from 7pm -11pm
Tue sam thing and so on, i think if the government can take this approach it would be a very good step then we can look forward to an increment in electricity supply.
Quite funny your imagination. Get closer to PHCN's operation and you will find out difficult this is. The problem with the system is an accumulation of problems over the years. Lack of planing. "Marrying 5 wives with 20 children and still living in a room apartment"

Anyway the amount Mega Watts generated by the national grid is a function of the amount that can be distributed. An area might have light because the equipments serving that area are maintained more than other areas / relative to the population density.

In my area, Apapa GRA, recently experiences averagely 20hrs 'total light period'. with an hour interval each break
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Dislike My High-paying Job. What Do I Do Please? by itismd(m): 11:43am On Sep 26, 2011
Stereotyped !! Yea it could be very boring. Most workers don't like their jobs but they stay in it because of pay and fear.
Don't give up in trying to move dept. Equip yourself with stuffs relating to your passion. Maybe you are even very good at what you are doing now that nobody at your place would want u in another dept. Be creative and add fun to your work.

But if routine work is your problem, the truth remains that you will still get tired of working in another field. Test your self for entrepreneurship skills. Going to school is not a bad idea, its good but it wont solve your problem. Afterwards you will still look for job to be employed and probably land in another one that you don't like since unemployment rate is on the increase.

Stay on the job, be creative and add fun to the job, you can as well engage in a part time school program. Never leave your job if you've not got another or starting your own business (which is a very good thing to do)

[b]A few things we must note:
1. A suicide bomber is an expendable weapon. It is the motive of the
person that recruits him and uses him that you must look at.
2. Religions, including Christianity, are used by men to achieve their
aims. Islam is used for domination and political aggrandisement.
Christianity has become a major business enterprise.
3. Those who commit evil in the name of any religion are far from the
truth about that religion. They also do not care who is affected by
their actions. Explain suicide bombers in a mosque. Is the bomber not
Muslim?
What is unfolding is a slow but scary attempt at global domination
using the platform of Islam. Boko Haram uses tactics learnt from
WEstern Education. In real terms the name is a contradiction of what
it is doing. Why don't they fight with bows and arrows?
Global terrorism has no friends - Christian, Muslim or animist. We are
all targets. The only way to stop them is for them to stop with
bullets. Nothing else will do. Otherwise, the US would have tried to
capture Bin Laden. You cannot cure a cancer with aspirins.

You will never allow another person bad mouth you even when he tells you that there are terrible slums country.

But you guys have been educating some of us with stories so you can continue your cold war grin  but be factual. This tread made me do a little research on some African Nations, and sure i did found out interesting things.

I still have a question you have not answered. i was asking where and when this  happened
Kenyanstar:

Recently i visited Nigeria and i looked everywhere for basic utilities that were all missing such as airtime. In my view, the decline was largely due to Disastrous sham in the name as elections — which made it difficult for the companies to sell airtime during the few months when Nigerians were destroying their motherland.

For those who were not around at the time, it was easier for one to get an machete wound in the head or a bullet in the belly than to lay hands on a scratch card. And those who did, usually spent much of the airtime to send hate messages and spread all manner of rumours.

Thankfully, the peculiar situation did not last too long and citizens either ran out of the fighting spirit or decided to tolerate each other again after their respective leaders forged the Peace and formed the a "Government" months later.
Well, after "peace" was restored, scratch cards became available again, but due to drought in the months that followed, many a subscriber often had to make the hard choice between buying airtime or food, whose cost was rising by the day to fund the growing appetite of the government their leaders had crafted at machete-point

Just in case you have not solved this problem or someone else having the same issue,

From the HJT log, i believe these files (pk.exe and pbko.exe) are the viruses. No windows program runs from such directory. They are set to run anytime anytime the system starts up.
--Delete them from the registry.
--Also end their processes from task manager if u find them running there.
--then locate the on the hard disk following( C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\BPK ) and delete

O4 - HKLM\, \Run: [pk] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\BPK\pk.exe
O4 - HKLM\, \Run: [bpko] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\BPK\bpko.exe

Also check under task manger for winykuxs.exe and winethmg.exe ( for other people with the same issue these name might vary because the virus creates them with random names but they will look alike i.e the same number of characters )

C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\winykuxs.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\winethmq.exe

Computers / Re: Virus Has Killed Me by itismd(m): 3:42pm On May 08, 2009
I derive joy removing virus from a system manually. It's kind of  part of what i do in the office.
i have studied its activities, they all have some things in common -- disabling registry editing tool, removing 'Run' from start menu, disabling Task Manager, hiding folder options' etc.

I learnt how to disable viruses manually using regedit (registry), msconfig, gpedit.msc . Its a long process and risky process( careful, u can mess up the system through registry) to remove virus manually. But its the best way to fix back u system. Anti viruses will not fix back some registry tweaks like "hide folder option''  You can search the internet for the virus name or the xtics, you will be surprised how the detailed solution (manual removal ) will be displayed to u in one of the websites or forums.
This is how i tackle new viruses that i have not heard of. JUST BE CAREFUL OF WINDOWS REGISTRY. Don't go there if u are not sure of what to do . I have mistakenly messed up systems that lead to re installation from doing so.

For people that are not in IT
The best thing is to get a good anti virus (like Kaspersky, Nod, Mcafee. i can help u get one) and keep updating and you will be free.
PLEASE NEVER PUT MORE THAN ONE anti virus on same system esp norton with another. If ur system is under attack, the result will be worse than the original virus attack.

@curtez, don't be too alarmed Raila Odinga is just a virus developed to campaign a politician. it does not cause much harm to the system.
Just download maybe kaspersky 1mnth trial , install update and scan.

or got through this if u are an IT person

Technical details

This Trojan has a malicious payload. It is a Windows PE EXE file. The Trojan components may vary in size from 17KB to 286KB.

Installation

Once launched, the Trojan extracts a file with the following name from its body to the current user's desktop:

Raila Odinga.gif

and launches it. The user will see the following image:

The Trojan also copies its executable file to the following directory:
%System%\drivers\RailaOdinga.exe

It also extracts the following file from its body:
%Temp%\nswC.tmp\System.dll

In order to ensure that the Trojan is launched automatically each time the system is booted, the Trojan adds a link to its executable file in the system registry:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] @ = "%System%\drivers\RailaOdinga"

The Trojan also creates the following shortcut:
%Documents and Settings%\Start Menu \Programs\Autorun\RailaOdinga.lnk

When this shortcut is run, the Trojan executable file will be launched.

Payload

The Trojan copies its executable file to all removable media under the following name:

:\smss.exe

It also copies the extracted image:

:\Raila Odinga.gif

stands for the letter of the removable disk.

The Trojan creates an autorun.inf file in the root of the removable disk. This file will automatically launch the Trojan executable file when the user attempts to open the infected disk using Explorer.

The Trojan also recursively copies its executable file to all folders on the removable disk. These copies use the names of files which are located in these folders together with an .exe extension.

Removal instructions

If your computer does not have an up-to-date antivirus, or does not have an antivirus solution at all, follow the instructions below to delete the malicious program:

* Use Task Manager to terminate the Trojan process.
* Delete the original Trojan file (the location will depend on how the program originally penetrated the victim machine).
* Delete the following system registry key parameter:

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run] @ = "%System%\drivers\RailaOdinga"

* Delete the following files:

%Temp%\nswC.tmp\System.dll
%System%\drivers\RailaOdinga.exe
%Documents and Settings%\ Start Menu \Programs\Autorun\RailaOdinga.lnk

* Delete the following file from the desktop:

Raila Odinga.gif

* Delete all copies of the Trojan from removable disks.
* Delete the autorun.inf file from the root directory of all removable disks.

@onasharon  the virus that renames My computer and Recycle bin to Ahsan's is bit more tricky because it looks like windows processes
