A document dated August 10, 2025, reveals that Senator Ahmed Salau Ogembe resigned his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Upogoro/Odenku Ward, Okene Local Government Area, nearly two weeks before reports of his suspension from the party surfaced. In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman, Senator Ogembe stated, “This decision was taken after careful consideration and wide consultations with my political associates, supporters, and family members. While I remain grateful for the opportunities and platform the PDP has provided over the years, I believe it is time to pursue a new political direction in the interest of my personal convictions.” Expressing appreciation, he added, “I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the PDP at the ward, local government, state, and national levels for their support during my period of membership. I also thank party members, friends, and supporters who have stood by me in [my] political journey.” The document, confirming his exit with immediate effect, clarifies that Ogembe had already parted ways with the PDP prior to the suspension announcement, raising questions about the party’s actions and fueling speculation about his next political move in Kogi State. By Hamza Yakubu In Nigeria, the creation of states wasn't merely a geographical division; each state was born out of a specific vision and purpose. For Kogi State, research reveals that unity and development were the twin pillars that drove its creation. This piece isn't to tell us much about the history of our creation as Kogi State, but to take a deeper look at one of the visions behind the creation of Kogi State, which is development. Development, dividends of democracy, and the likes of other related words and phrases have become buzzwords often used to discuss the performance of any administration. However, it's crucial that we pause and ask: What does development truly mean Is it merely about infrastructure, or does it encompass a broader spectrum of economic, social, and human development. As much as these words and phrases are now a recurring discussion on our lips, and everyone seems to know the usage of it, it's essential that we begin to seek clarity on what it is to be set for development. The Kogi State journey, since its creation in 1991, despite getting it right in a few places, Kogi State meandered without a clear direction; it has been a journey marred by lack of focus and particularities. For us, we were just living; we were just existing. No open, realistic plan, specifically, a developmental plan. From 2016 till 2023, the government of Kogi laid a solid foundation for development in the State. The 32-year development plan, thoughtfully drafted by the former Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, before leaving office in 2024 is a validation to the administration's foresight, and it has in no small measure projected to the whole world that Kogi State is now set to witness monumental development in all sectors of the economy, including: 1. Economic development: boosting agriculture, industry, and entrepreneurship 2. Infrastructure development: roads, bridges, and public transportation 3. Human development: education, healthcare, and skills acquisition Singapore, Rwanda, and other developing and developed countries we often use when discussing economic growth of societies didn't find themselves where they are now overnight; their present economic realities are a product of thoughtful and meticulous planning and solid execution of the plans. We all know the figure history of the GDP per capita of Singapore and Rwanda, so I wouldn't want to stress this piece with historied figures. The fact that a 32-year realistic development plan has been meticulously drafted for Kogi State shows that, in some decades to come, Kogi State will be used as a vantage reference for states in Nigeria when it comes to rapid development and growth discussion. The present administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in Kogi State, through his actions, is showing that the solid developmental foundation laid by former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello is being consolidated on, and that Kogi State is coming to be on the path of industrialization and optimal productivity. The rich mineral and natural resources that abound in Kogi State are enough, if properly harnessed, to make Kogi State a model of development in Nigeria, Africa, and the world. An example of a factor that indicates that we now know where we are heading is the recent clearance of ₦98 billion facilities in Kogi State owed by past administrations. It shows to me in clear terms that Kogi State is performing excellently. Despite seeing some few romantic economists (critics) criticizing that feat, stating why pay debts when there's still infrastructure deficit and amongst other points, adjudging the feat as a bad fiscal policy, thereby making it counterintuitive, I see an administration with macroeconomics acumen, and understands that economic timing is essential and imperative. It was a strategic move for the government to pay off old loans. We are repaying debt when inflation is eating into real purchasing power, and the effective real cost of repayment is lower. That's not poor judgment; that's a monetary policy hack. The bigger picture for me is the credibility portrayed by the ogi State Government by cleaning up Kogi's debt balance sheet. We are reducing debt exposure and improving fiscal sustainability profiles. A state weighed down by historical debt is not attractive to investors. By settling liabilities in full, Kogi State is sending a strong signal - discipline and green light for capital inflows. Let's even think this: a state like Kogi State, which is eagerly working to see that all facets of economic sectors are developing, needs to start thinking and acting outside the box. FAAC and internal generated revenues (IGR) may not be enough again; we need serious local and foreign direct investments. We need to attract the attention of development banks, sovereign wealth funds, infrastructure financiers, and others. Getting their attention and attracting them to our state means that we must have a clean balance sheet. So far, good. I can say that Kogi State is developing. The 32-year development plan is yielding results; it's giving clue and focus on what needs to be done. Overall, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is performing. Judging by our present state, Kogi State is on the way to achieving one of the visions behind its creation, which is development. What's Next for Kogi State is bold investments in productive infrastructure, smart public-private partnerships, and people centred innovation. By Issa Itopa Lucky I have encountered a lot of people from all walks of life but one person that has so greatly impacted many from across many generations is Chief Dele Momodu, the Publisher of Ovation Magazine. Chief Dele Momodu is a blessing to many generations of Nigerians. He is also a hero of Nigeria's democracy. He is a philanthropist and a helper of many. He does not discriminate. He gives everyone who encounters him, a sense of value hence giving each person the understanding that we are all important regardless of our various individual social statuses and different socio-cultural backgrounds in life. He is an international export in terms of advocacy for good governance. His footprints are in Ghana's democratic process over the years as much as they are in Nigeria as well. All over the world, he is greatly celebrated as he is one of the few Nigerians promoting the good qualities of the Naija spirit for decades now. His work rate is a record on its own and it is an inspiration to many upcoming generations as he is everywhere making impacts across all sectors of the economy. On this 65th birthday of his, as one of those young people that have been privileged to be mentored by him, I wish him a happy birthday and I pray that God Almighty will continue to guide and protect him and to continue to increase him and prosper him as he is one of the few good men Nigeria has left; for with people like Dele Momodu, there is still hope that Nigeria will be great someday in our lifetime. "The making of the personality of Peter Obi is not complete without the Peoples Democratic Party. Peter Obi is not politically formidable without the Peoples Democratic Party," Andrew Enantomhen has said of Peter Obi, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party. "Every political structure Peter Obi rode on is the structure of the Peoples Democratic Party. "So you can't take the glory away from PDP. But you have to understand that his exit from PDP were due to certain circumstances beyond certain control. Of course you have to understand that those are things you should always expect in the political field. Of course, his exit from PDP was something that we felt to an extent but still goes to show you that PDP is a political party that is so formidable, that is so solidified, that is so strong that Peter Obi wouldn't have been able to get the numbers that he got if not for the wave of PDP that he rode on," Andrew Enantomhen further said. "So as it stands right now, Peter Obi is welcome in the party. We know he still going to come back. "PDP is his home. He is coming back with the Obidient structure. "In fact, everybody that left with him are going to come back. In fact, they did not leave, they only voted for him based on their belief on the Southern Presidency they were insisting on at the time. "Peter Obi is going to come back home. We will sit with him, we will talk with him. That is why I said it is them that will come to PDP, then we will tell them 'this should be how we should to go about it.' "Of course, his exit from PDP was something we felt because we made him. "Peter Obi coming back to the PDP will be something joyous for us as a party. He is a key player in the party. He is one of our former Vice Presidential candidates in the party. When he comes back, it is going to be something joyous for us," he further added. "I know the party in its wisdom, is doing everything possible to harmonize every warring faction, every aggrieved faction. "We have the conflict resolution mechanism in the party working hard to do everything possible to bring the people that are aggrieved, together, and bring them under one umbrella and bring them under one vision. These are the things we are doing. We are working day and night to make the party much more formidable. So, Peter Obi, of course is fully welcome to the umbrella. Everybody that has left the party is fully welcome to the umbrella, and I know when they come under the umbrella, we are going to do something much more better," Andrew Enantomhen concluded. Andrew Enantomhen, a chieftain of the PDP has insisted that there is no leadership crisis in the PDP. He made this comment in a recent interview with News Central. "Of course, there will always be some little internal crisis but irrespective of the crisis that occurs in the Peoples Democratic Party, we have a very strong internal resolution mechanism within the party. So that alone has kept us going all along. So anybody that defects from the party and says it is because of crisis in the PDP, I believe the person is simply looking for an excuse to leave the party anyway. "I have always stood my ground that the Peoples Democratic Party is so solidified, it is so formidable that irrespective of the crisis that rocks the boat, we are still fully intact. "They will go, they will still come back," Andrew Enantomhen said. "The likes of Obasanjo have torn their party cards but the PDP still remains intact. The beautiful thing is, the moment you are leaving, you are giving an opportunity for young people to rise to the cradle of leadership. "As it stands right now, we are so happy. We are solidified. "Those who really have the party at heart, they will stay. "The party is fully formidable and we are taking the party to the promised land," Andrew Enantomhen further said. "Of course, the APC as we know it to be, will definitely want to plant some thorns of crisis in the party, but we as members of the party, that understand what the party stands for, the principles of the party to the letter, that understand the purpose of the founding fathers of this party, we are still fully intact with the party. We know where we are going to, we understand our vision, we understand the vision of the party and this is the vision that has been driving the party since the creation of the party since 1999 down to this very moment. "This present leadership is filled with people that are formidable enough to take the party to El Dorado prior to 2027 down to 2031, so we are not worried, we are not moved. People will come and go. That is the beauty of political party as a concept and that is the beauty of politics, but what matters is the ability of political parties to harness and harmonize the ones that are remaining and forge a way forward," Andrew Enantomhen concluded. Notable Statement of Gov Ahmed Ododo Usman as he paid condolence visit to the Ajaokuta Federal Lawmaker "During my last visit, the Ajaokuta federal lawmaker Hon Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem took a route differently from todays route and this is a smart move to get me familiar with the poor condition of the Ajaokuta feeder roads. I'm familiar with Egidi approach and wasn't surprised, because he has been consistently emphasizing the need for urgent attention for the road. "Today, The road has now received the necessary attention, and work is already underway. "I will ensure the project's completion, connecting all Ajaokuta roads to give them a befitting look." ~ OAU 6 May 2025 By Ivavah

By Kenneth Omoruyi Media Office School choice has been a huge conversation in Texas State for a while now. Largely, in Bellaire, the concept of school choice has been on the lips of many. Basically, school choice refers to the ability of parents and guardians to choose the school their child or children will attend, rather than being randomly assigned to a school based on location or other factors. School choice includes various options, such as making choice between public schools, charter, or private schools, or participating in programs such as vouchers or tax-deductible scholarships. Essentially, school choice refers to programs that avail families with options beyond their assigned public schools, often including private school tuition assistance or education savings accounts. These programs such as school vouchers, aim to give parents more control over their children's education. Texas State is a State that is huge on family and community values. The same is the instance in Bellaire. In Bellaire, we are like a family. We value family and community a lot. It is therefore necessary that parents are able to have a say in the school choice of their children. This will give the parents more opportunity to really be a part of the lives of their children. In Bellaire, we don't miss any opportunity to be a part of the lives of our children. We want to always be there in the lives of our children to give them what we as parents know is best for them. To this extent, Kenneth Omoruyi is a huge proponent of school choice. Personally, he is a strong advocate of school choice across the length and breadth of Bellaire. He is hopeful that the relevant authorities will do their bit to ensure that school choice becomes a reality in Texas State as that will also have great impact in Bellaire where he comes from. On many instances, Kenneth Omoruyi has called on the Texas legislators to come together and pass the School Choice Bill into Law for the continued good and prosperity and future of Texas State and of Bellaire. School choice will help create a lot of opportunities for young Texans and young people in Bellaire. With school choice, every student in Bellaire will be able to reach his or her unique potentials. Kenneth Omoruyi is of the belief that indeed, a brighter future for Texas State and Bellaire begins with guaranteeing education freedom. A viral video making the rounds online showcases PDP stalwart and former DESOPADEC Chairman, Micheal Diden, popularly known as Ejele, accusing Tompolo’s Tantita Security Services of bias in their operations across the Niger Delta. He further urged members of the Itsekiri tribe in Delta State to oppose and challenge officials from Tantita Security Services. It’s important to highlight that Tantita has been instrumental in monitoring and safeguarding Nigeria’s pipelines for several years. In reaction to Ejele’s statements, renowned investigative journalist and activist Dozie Dickson criticized him, accusing Diden of pandering to populist sentiments and serving the interests of the PDP to derail the impactful programs initiated by President Bola Tinubu. The journalist also alleged that Ejele is a prominent figure in the illegal oil bunkering industry and is frustrated by Tantita’s crackdown on such illicit activities. See tweets... In a powerful demonstration of his vision of prioritizing humanity at all times coupled with deep commitment to grassroots development, Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji, the Asiwaju of Ayere Kingdom and Founder of the Prince Olatunji Olusoji Foundation (PROOF), has once again written his name in the hearts of the people of Ayere Community in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State with the clearance of the community outstanding Electricity bills. The entire community erupted in jubilation upon receiving the news that Asiwaju had cleared the outstanding electricity bill owed to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). The total amount—₦2,400,000—had long stood as a barrier between the community and stable electricity. This bold and selfless act has resulted in the restoration of power supply to Ayere Community, marking the end of a long, dark season for residents whose homes and businesses had suffered tremendously due to the prolonged power outage. For months, the people of Ayere had been grappling with the harsh realities of life without electricity— businesses were affected, homes and general livelihoods also felt it in untold ways. The economic implications were devastating, especially for traders, artisans, students, and local entrepreneurs whose productivity depends heavily on stable electricity. Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji is no stranger to transformative interventions. Through PROOF, his philanthropic endeavors have impacted thousands across Nigeria, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and community development. From sponsoring indigent students to providing back-to-school materials, financial support initiatives, and now, powering an entire community, his legacy of service continues to expand. The restoration of electricity is expected to breathe new life into the community's economy. Tailors can now power their machines, shop owners can preserve perishable goods, students can study at night, and hospitals and health centers can function more efficiently. This gesture is a shining example of how visionary leadership and compassion can catalyze change, even in the most forgotten corners. It is also a reminder that when leaders prioritize humanity, our communities, States and nation at large will be a better place. Ayere is now lit—not just with electricity—but with gratitude to God and their son; Asiwaju Prince Olatunji Olusoji.

Any story about resilience and determination is a story that must be celebrated everyday and across every nation on Earth. From a rural area in Edo State, Nigeria; to being a State Board Member in Texas State in United States of America (USA), the story of Kenneth Omoruyi teaches that indeed with extra-ordinary determination, any man or any woman can achieve anything he or she sets his or her heart to achieve in life. Kenneth Omoruyi is a devoted Christian whose ideology about life has been about God, family and hardwork. It is his “God, family and hardwork” ideology that has endeared him to the people of Texas State over the years. As recently as last year (year 2024), he ran for Congress (Texas 7th Congressional District) and made it to the run-off stage. By Issa Itopa Lucky Let me start by confessing that I was one of those who initially doubted Governor Ododo’s capacity to effectively govern a complex State like Kogi State. Well, over one year after his inauguration as Governor of Kogi State, my doubts are not only fully cleared, I am filled with apologies to him for doubting him at first. How Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has been able to get his hands on the job and to deliver on every count and in every aspect of governance is indeed a wonder which many watchers and observes hope never ends. Whatever inspires Governor Ododo is something he should reveal to every other Governor and to future Governors and future public office-holders. First of all, he started by equipping himself with a cabinet that is full of capacity. There are many people of capacity in Governor Ododo’s cabinet. One of them is his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Ali Bello, a quiet, young, loyal, focused and determined individual. The other person that has made Governor Ododo’s cabinet one of the best in the history of governance in Nigeria is the Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Ismail Isah. Hon. Ismail Isah is a seasoned media personality who knows the job of media very well and even under the most intense of pressure he has shown what effective media capacity looks like. These two key appointments, the moment Governor Ododo made them last year when he was starting his Government, it was in that moment I began to really believe that maybe just maybe Governor Ododo will surprise everyone for good because Alhaji Ali Bello is a good and honest man, and Hon. Ismail Isah is a genius when it comes to communication of Government policies and effective coordination of media. In fact, everyday since January 27, 2024 my mind is daily at rest knowing that a capable media personality like Hon. Ismail Isah is the Spokesperson of Kogi State Government. I could not have preferred anybody else when it comes to the question of who I think can effectively use decorum and mutual respect to drown the noise and prospective unrepentant negativity of the naysayers everyday and to in the process, win converts for the Government while in the business of communication of Government policies and Government efforts. Governor Ododo has in the past one year shown full capacity on the job of governance and in the process he has won many converts. Many who initially doubted his capacity on the job are today his biggest supporters. Ordinarily, as Nigerians we don’t expect much good governance from our public office-holders. Typically, our public office-holders would promise us “heaven on earth” during campaign to get our votes and then they will begin to show us “hell” when they finally get voted into office inspite of the fact that it is our votes that put them in office in the first instance. Governor Ododo is different. Many did not hear him say much during the campaign when he was running for Governorship back in 2023. In fact, many referred to him as a proxy for then outgoing Governor Yahaya Bello. But, well, one year after since Governor Ododo became Governor of Kogi State we are now very grateful to now former Governor Yahaya Bello for the gift of Governor Ododo; therefore we the people of Kogi State could not have asked for a better proxy. That is, assuming without conceding that Governor Ododo is indeed a “proxy Governor” on anybody’s behalf. Proxy or not, we want good governance in Kogi State and Governor Ododo is daily delivering good governance to every square inch of Kogi State even beyond expectations. The primary duty of a State Governor is the security of lives and properties of the citizens of the State. I will be economic with the truth if I say Governor Ododo has only merely done well in terms of security in Kogi State. The truth is, Governor Ododo is not only doing well in terms of the security of Kogi State, he is surpassing expectations inspite of the fact that Kogi State is a State that shares boundary with many States, a situation that makes security a complex situation, but somehow by some clear logic that is working, Governor Ododo has defeated the whole complex situation and he has daily delivered peace and security in Kogi State. Governor Ododo ensures that there is absolute peace in all communities in Kogi State. Today, Kogi State is one of the most safest States in Nigeria. The local security network in Kogi State is one of the most efficient in the country. On many counts, Governor Ododo has invested greatly in the security of Kogi State through giving operational vehicles to the various security agencies in Kogi State. Also he has ensured that the morale of every security agent in Kogi State is at the highest level at all times, by providing every needed State-support enough to help the security agents do their job of keeping Kogi State safe at all times. In the aspect of agriculture, it is worthy of note that Governor Ododo recently won Award of Governor of the Year on the key basis of his intervention in agriculture and food production in Kogi State. Governor Ododo has from time to time intervened in the agricultural sector of Kogi State through empowerment of farmers and through various intervention programmes as well as helping to encourage mechanised farming in Kogi State. Through his various intervention efforts in Kogi State, he has ensured sufficient food production in Kogi State and this has helped many families in Kogi State to not only be self-sufficient but to also be able to benefit greatly from their farm produce when they sell their farm products both within the State and beyond. Governor Ododo is quietly raising future and legitimate millionaires in Kogi State who are making alot of money through farming. First of all, if Governor Ododo did not make Kogi State safe, farming would have become near-impossible and it would have led to hunger and increased cost of food and increased cost of living in Kogi State. Governor Ododo has been able to improve the micro-economic status of the average Kogite who is into farming, by ensuring that the lengths and breadths of Kogi State are safe and not subject to any form of insecurity. Little wonder, he was awarded Governor of the Year recently especially in recognition of his very remarkable efforts for the agricultural sector in Kogi State. Under Governor Ododo, Kogi State is currently one of the States that are minimum wage-compliant and beyond that, the workers’ salaries are consistently being paid without delay. In terms of road infrastructure, Governor Ododo is ensuring that Kogi State is turning to a road projects State with roads being constructed across the three Senatorial zones of the State as contractors are fully on site to do good roads that will be of global standard in fulfillment of the infrastructural vision of Governor Ododo for every book and cranny of Kogi State. As complex as Kogi State is, Governor Ododo has ensured that there is zero tolerance for discrimination in his Government as all the various zones of the State are well-carried along in terms of State appointments and State resources allocation. We may banter and disagree on opinions among ourselves as we wish to, as analysts, opinion-molders, media influencers, sworn opponents, people with partisan bias, observers and writers or by whatever name we call ourselves in support of our individual viewpoints about politics and governance from time to time; but when it comes to the scorecard of Governor Ododo, the truth is Governor Ododo is doing well for the people of Kogi State and he deserves his accolades already because we would have been dragging him on the media space everyday if he was failing. Governor Ododo has in the past one year been able to use good governance to practically win over converts and it will be self-deception to not attest to the fact much as he is hardly on the media talking all the time for the fun of media. Quietly, he is working and the media has a duty to recognize his good works. One year in office is enough time for anyone observing to draw conclusions on whether a Governor is doing well for his State or not. The conclusion of the matter is that so far, Governor Ododo is doing well for Kogi State. Personally, I commend him and his team and I urge them to keep up the good works they are doing for our dear Kogi State.
