Up until this moment, not much is out there concerning the transformation works of the Federal Ministry of Regional Development. A Ministry created to see to the transformation of the various regions of Nigeria from South-South down to North-East.

Within a short while, Engr. Abubakar Momoh and his team at the Ministry of Regional Development have worked wonders.

Now more than ever before, the various regions of Nigeria are witnessing transformation simultaneously with no region being left behind.

In the South-South, its been projects upon projects as the grassroots via Engr. Abubakar Momoh are being positively impacted by the renewed hope agenda of Mr President.

In the South-East, a development commission just commenced and Engr. Abubakar and his team at the Ministry of Regional Development are already making sure that the South-East witnesses massive federal developments now more than ever before.

In the North-West and North-East, efforts are ongoing to help rebuild the regions as the regions have been under insurgency for a while hence hampering its development over the years.

With Engr. Abubakar Momoh and the rest of the team at the Federal Ministry of Regional Development, the development of Nigeria across the North and South is a certainty as Engr. Abubakar Momoh is a man of many good works and delivering on good governance is one of his mission for the country under the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hon. Solomon Itopa, Special Assistant on Political Matters to Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu Abubakar, on Friday commended Hon. Sanni Egidi for his proactive effort towards ensuring that Ajaokuta Local Government is exempted from Okura State suggestion.

In a bill sent by Hon. Halims, Member, trying to create Okura State. Earlier on, Ajaokuta Local Government was included.

The Ajaokuta Rep Member, Hon. Sanni Egidi, speaking the minds of the people of Ajaokuta Federal constituency, opposed it that Ajaokuta can't be part of Okura State, as there is already an established boundary.

Some days ago, Hon. Halims has accordingly removed Ajaokuta out of the said Okura proposed state

In a message of appreciation to the Ajaokuta Rep Member, Hon. Solomon Itopa said "it is a great and timely move" by the House of Reps Member once again showing that the House of Reps Member is in tune with the mood and needs of the people of the Constituency

Section 305 of the Constitution FRN 1999 is a very powerful weapon in the hands of a Nigerian President in extraordinary circumstances to temporarily suspend the powers of a state functionary in order to arrest the tendency of breakdown of law and order in a particular state.

This power is unquestionable because it is usually exercised in extreme situations where alternative remedies proved abortive.

Where this power is exercised,even the courts are powerless except due process is not followed at all.

But even at that the doctrine of necessity would come into place to remove the irregularities.

In Nigeria, attempts were made in 1962 to challenge the declaration of state of emergency before the courts of law in Nigeria but all the cases failed and the cases were all dismissed in favour of the proponent of declaration of state of emergency ( then,the parliament). See Williams v Majekodumi (1962)1All NLR 413 and Adegbenro v Attorney General of the Federation (1962) WNLR 150 at 160.

The Supreme Court was emphatic that the Nigerian courts have no jurisdiction to question the powers exercised by the parliament relating to the declaration of state of emergency under the constitution.

So,the power exercised by President Tinubu in Rivers State under the Nigerian jurisprudence cannot even be questioned by Nigerian courts. That is the law.

It is therefore better to implore political dialogue and arrive at a political solution instead of proceeding to court for the mere purpose of wasting the precious judicial time and resource in matters this nature

There is no remedy in court in this matter.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Thursday, urged President Bola Tinubu to validate the results of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and posthumously declare the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Moshood Kasimowo Olawale Abiola winner.

Frank, in a statement in Abuja, said the call has become necessary since former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) retired, who annulled the election has owned up to the validity of results.

IBB had during the public presentation of his book, titled: ‘A Journey in Service’, blamed former military Head of State, General Sani Abacha and other forces for instigating his annulment of June 12, 1993 presidential election which he admitted that MKO Abiola won.

In his reaction, Frank urged President Tinubu to do the needful by officially declaring Abiola a former president of Nigeria and equally pay all salaries and entitlement due to him for the eight years he would have served the country to his family.

He equally called on IBB to as a mark of penitence, remit all the money he has realised from his book launch to MKO Abiola’s family.

Frank said: “I don’t think Tinubu should waste any more time in officially declaring Abiola President and according him all the entitlements and recognition due him as former president.

“He can do this by sending a Bill to the National Assembly to recognise the June 12, 1993 presidential election and lawfully validate the results and declare MKO as the winner of the election.

“Good enough, Tinubu was at the forefront of the June 12 Struggle which was principally aimed at getting the General Sani Abacha’s junta to recognize Abiola as President and hand over power to him.”

The Bayelsa-born political activist who is also the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, said it was not enough for IBB to express regret over the illegal annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election which was adjudged as the most peaceful, freest and fairest election conducted in Nigeria so far, he must apologise and beg Nigerians for forgiveness.

“IBB must apologize to Abiola’s family and Nigerians who continue to bear the negative consequences of his wicked, satanic, inhuman, anti-people and anti-God action when he single-handedly voided the election, an act which later culminated in the untimely death of Abiola in military custody.

“Until IBB atones for his sins and Tinubu officially recognizes Abiola as a former president of Nigeria, IBB will remain culpable and eternally blamable,” Frank said.

Today, in history, is the second anniversary of that Oshodi/Isolo constituency 1 House of Representatives election that I convincingly won, but I was denied the mandate.

Happy anniversary to the man, who is using my INEC Certificate of Returns, at the moment, in Abuja.

That Distinguished Honourable, who won as an APC candidate on the platform of Labour Party.

Happy anniversary to all the trusted associates on the project, who betrayed the course - I am not the one they betrayed, but their conscience and their God.

Happy anniversary to INEC, who gave my Certificate of Returns to somebody else.

Happy anniversary to all the good people of Oshodi/Isolo constituency 1, who came out en mass to give my project all the much valued and appreciated supports, worked so hard and voted for me on that fateful day, but their efforts were unfortunately truncated and their votes wasted at the end of the whole shambolic exercise.

They were simply denied the right to choose, who they truly wanted to represent their constituency in the currently running 10th National Assembly administration in Nigeria.

Happy anniversary to all those, who called me on phone that horrible night from the inside and outside the collation centre, jubilating and celebrating, that I won the election, but for them to wake up in the morning and their joy, were cut short and disappointed by the compromising machinations of all those, who took the mandate away from us.

Happy anniversary to Nigerians for the kind of 'democracy' our country is practising.

Happy anniversary to all those Nigerians, who were happy, or disappointed in the way and manner INEC conducted that 2023 general elections in Nigeria.

Happy anniversary to me for all I lost and haven't yet recovered up till today.

However, like in the case of the Late MKO Abiola, the President elect in the June 12, 1993 presidential election, those who took my own mandate away from me too, would have a re-think and write their own book as well someday, that I was indeed the rightful winner of that election.

History will always be the tormentor of bad people in every society.

...."THE ESTATE MANAGEMENT HAS ALLEGEDLY ABANDONED ALL OBLIGATIONS TO THE TENANTS WHILE YET INCREASING RENTS ALMOST MONTHLY" - FINDINGS




River Park Estate, an Estate based in Abuja has been reported to Consumer Rights Protection over arbitrary increase in house rent.

According to findings, the Estate in some of its letters through one of its agent law firms, Ethel Mbionwu and co Chambers, sent notice of increase in rent in which within a space of six months, the same rent was increased up to three different times.

All through the rent increases that were taking place within an average of two months interval within the same rental year, the Estate cited increase in expenses as reason while yet also not factoring the possible economic situation of the tenants.

According to findings, in most instances, the Estate has threatened its tenants to vacate the properties in an event where they are not okay with the serial rent increases regardless of the inconsistent intervals of the rent increases.

In one of the instances, the Estate increased a rent from N2.5million to N3million within the space of one month.

"It is almost like the Estate increases rent within an average of four to eight times within a rental year, having done such up to three times within a space of six months. This is not healthy at all as it does not give tenancy confidence. You pay one amount today and you can't say for sure what the next amount would be because before the end of the rental year the Estate has sent you varying notices of increase in rent up to three times within a space of six months.

"If these Estate managements don't have human feeling, then it is bad as the tenants are humans in fact. These tenants need to be able to calculate their own expenses to meet up with these serial rent increases. You can't continue to make potential tenants panick over uncertainty of what their actual rent obligations will be from time to time, worst still within a rental year. You don't just wake up and jerk up their rents almost on a monthly basis and then if they try to complain, you threaten them to move out of the property. It is almost like these Estates are implying that there are no laws protecting the rights and well-being of tenants anymore," a tenant in the Estate said.


"RiverPark used to be one of the best Estates in Abuja, but if these arbitrary rent increases are not looked into, many tenants and many potential tenants would have to seek housing elsewhere. Maybe the issue is just some particular buildings or block of flats being managed by EDSA Universal Construction. I refuse to believe that RiverPark Estate management themselves are in on it. This is really an abuse of the rights of the tenants. Rents are supposed to be increased at worst once in a year. This is the first time that I am seeing rent being increased almost like on a monthly basis.

"This same EDSA Universal Construction, while increasing the rents has continually disregarded maintenance of the buildings under their care and management. The security issues have not been looked into. The water issues are there, unattended to. The electricity issues are there too, yet despite all these challenges that are all obviously abandoned by this same EDSA Universal Construction, they are so focused on how to increase rent so much so they increased rent three times within a space of six months for their tenants, citing economic situation without recourse to the satisfaction of these tenants and without recourse to the economic realities of these tenants.

"It is almost like these tenants are just paying to be occupants of properties but the basic needs they paid for are not being provided for them and yet the rents are being increased almost on a monthly basis and the same tenants are being threatened to pack out if they are not comfortable anymore. The Government has to look into this. This is no longer normal. These developers and agents and Estate managements are violating the rights of the tenants and the rights of potential tenants," an Estate consultant said.

The House of Representatives has called for higher budgetary allocations to several government agencies, surpassing the provisions in the 2025 budget proposal. This push was confirmed by the Deputy Spokesman of the House, Hon. Philip Agbese.

Speaking ahead of the anticipated approval of the N49.70 trillion 2025 budget by the National Assembly this week, the Benue State-born lawmaker told *The PUNCH* that agencies crucial to the nation’s socio-economic and security advancement are slated to receive additional funding in 2025.

Hon. Agbese emphasized the Speaker Tajudeen Abbas-led House’s commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria, urging citizens to remain hopeful as the current economic hardships are expected to ease, paving the way for national growth.

He stated, “We are pushing for increased funding for critical agencies like the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in the 2025 budget. Other key government bodies are also set to benefit.

“NIMC has become an indispensable institution in recent years. Many Nigerians may not fully appreciate its significance, but establishing a robust national data bank requires empowering this commission. For 2025, NIMC has outlined a detailed plan, but its success hinges on adequate funding to train personnel and acquire advanced technological tools vital for its work. Without NIMC, tackling terrorism would be significantly harder for both the government and security agencies.”

The All Progressives Congress legislator also called for reforming the NYSC, given its vital contributions to meeting the nation’s manpower needs in both public and private sectors.

“The ideals of the NYSC must be upheld, which is why we are advocating for better funding for the programme. While it’s premature to reveal the funding amount under consideration, it’s clear that the National Assembly is dissatisfied with NYSC’s current state. We intend to boost its funding to ensure it adequately supports corps members, who give so much to this country during their service,” he explained.

Agbese made a similar case for the NDA, stressing the need to improve its funding, especially as terrorists continue to adopt evolving strategies. “Despite the bravery of our troops, we must find ways to stay ahead of these threats. Strengthening institutions tasked with building the capacity of our security forces is a critical part of this fight,” he said.

Further highlighting challenges, Agbese noted that the reliance on the budget envelope system often falls short of meeting agencies’ capital expenditure requirements. Referring to Defence Minister Bello Matawalle’s appearance before the House Committee on Defence, Agbese recalled Matawalle’s concern over a meagre N50 billion allocation for the Ministry of Defence in the 2025 budget proposal—a situation echoed across other agencies.

The lawmaker also recognized the vital work of Nigeria’s foreign missions and confirmed the House’s agreement to increase their budget allocations. In the 2025 Appropriation Bill, submitted on December 18, 2024, by President Bola Tinubu, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was allocated N66.88 billion for capital expenditure and N286.88 billion for recurrent (non-debt) spending. However, the Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Oluwole Oke, had raised concerns in January 2025, pointing out that a needs assessment conducted by the ministry indicated a requirement of N1.5 trillion.

Oke argued, “While it’s unrealistic to meet this need in a single fiscal year, the ministry and its missions should at least be allocated N500 billion, as recommended in the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework approved by parliament. This is especially important given the impact of fluctuating exchange rates. From staff passage allowances to international subscriptions and UN General Assembly commitments, there are numerous financial obligations to meet.”

Agbese echoed this sentiment, adding, “We have advocated for foreign missions because of their crucial services to Nigerians abroad.”

He also praised the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for implementing reforms that have boosted government revenue and enhanced Nigeria’s reputation. “Under Festus Keyamo’s leadership, the Aviation Ministry has introduced significant reforms. We are ready to allocate additional funding to the ministry in the 2025 budget.”

In closing, Agbese urged Nigerians to remain optimistic in the New Year, assuring them that the Federal Government, with the support of the National Assembly, is working expeditiously to improve citizens’ quality of life.

I would like to start by thanking the leadership of the African Union, Jet Age Nation Builders Advisory Board, The Steering Committee and you, for your commitment and support throughout the year 2024.

Our Focus for the year 2025/2026 will cover the principles that will lead to "winning together”. This is different from the traditional concept of "win-win" that draws on the tactics of integrative bargaining, considerations of best alternative, as well as non-monetary and monetary strategies to achieve successful agreements to projecting and building the Nations of Africa that should be of interest to everyone of us. Together as we align with Africa Communities in Diaspora, Friends of Africa, Goodwill Ambassadors and Development Partners in projecting and achieving “The Africa We Want” inline with the Africa Union Commission "Agenda 2063".

We currently have projects that address multiple sectors such as education, health, entrepreneurship, finance, human capacity building, investments, infrastructure, real estate, mining, tourism and security (both physical & cyber security) to name a few. These projects, although at different stages all geared towards our Mission in Building the Africa that should be of interest to everyone of us and project African solutions for Africa's greatest needs and problems. From 2022-2024, we have moved the following 5 projects to the next stage of implementation:

Special Assistant on Political Matters to the Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu Abubakar; Hon. Solomon Itopa during the weekend visited Hon. Siyaka Raji, former SLG of Ajaokuta Local Government and now a traditional council ruler in Adogo. He commended the traditional council ruler for the peace, unity and progress in Adogo.

Furthermore, he commended the traditional council chief he went to visit, for how well the Adogo community has been coming along.

He appreciated Hon. Siyaka Raji for his efforts towards the betterment of the entire Eganyi district and Ajaokuta. He further appreciated him for being a leader of the people through good times and through bad times.

He also assured them of the Federal Government's commitment via the Federal Ministry of Steel Development headed by Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu Abubakar, towards the revitalisation and resuscitation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company which he said is estimated to bring about over hundreds of direct and indirect jobs and improvement in revenue for Ajaokuta, Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.

He assured that the Honourable Minister of Steel Development is working round the clock to ensure that the revitalisation and resuscitation of Ajaokuta comes through.

A Year of Life, Leadership and Achievements

Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem is known for his trademark of significant accomplishments. He has lived to make tremendous impacts on the lives of those around him. The journey of his life is a lesson, as he exemplifies what it means to lead.

As a philanthropist and business tycoon, SEA has made substantial contributions to the development of Ajaokuta LGA and the Kogi State Civil Service at large. Driven by a desire to create an even greater impact, he retired at the peak of his career a permanent secretary local government and Chieftaincy Affairs and entered politics, choosing a broader platform to influence the lives of the people.

He became the first House of Representatives member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, winning the election in a landslide, capturing 12 out of 14 wards by a significant margin, this victory depict the acceptance and believe the people has for his leadership

Hon Sanni had complements his rare quality and justify the mandate of the people as his first 100 days in office and in less than a year and a half have been rooted with achievements, remarkably impactful, and his contributions to national matters are outstanding as well.

• EDUCATION
- SEA Constructed classroom blocks at Eganyi Community Secondary School.
- Renovated dilapidated secondary schools.
- Launched the SEA Educational Grants, distributing 30 million Naira to beneficiaries pursuing postgraduate and undergraduate studies.

• EMPOWERMENT
- Empowered over 2,000 constituents with essential items, including freezers, electrical design machines, grinding machines, sophisticated generators, and more.
- Provided skill acquisition training for over 1,000 constituents in critical areas such as ICT, welding, agro-products usage, tailoring, and more.

• HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT
- Donated cash to individuals with business proposals.
- Facilitated employment opportunities for constituents at both the state level, within federal government agencies, and in his private organization.
- Launched the SEA Welfare Grants, where about 210 less privileged individuals received 100,000 Naira each, totalling 21 million Naira.
- Facilitated the upgrading of graded and non-graded monarchs to first, second, and third-class status.

• HEALTH SECTOR
- Offered free treatment for individuals with eye problems by sponsoring them for first-hand treatment in Ochadumu.
- Built a new hospital in the Ebiya Axis and renovated hospitals in poor conditions in the Ajaokuta Axis.
- Provided emergency assistance for various health challenges, some of which were previously unaddressed.

• SOCIAL AMENITIES
- Constructed roads in the Ganaja Axis.
- Established an ICT centre in the Ajaokuta Axis, equipped with technology capable of accommodating over 20 JAMB students for exams.
- Built bridges in Apaminosi/Ogigiri and Adogo/Achagana.
- Renovation and cash donations to Mosques and churches on various areas of the Ajaokuta LGA.
- Graded unmotorable feeder roads to make them passable.
- Constructed motorable boreholes in several locations within the Ajaokuta Axis.
- Purchased transformers for areas experiencing total blackout.

• SECURITY
- Acquired a Sienna bus to support police divisions.
- Collaborated with local council administration to provide vigilantes for mounting roadblocks in strategic areas plagued by criminal activity, ensuring the safety of citizens.

Amidst other numerous achievements I couldn't captured, the Honorable House of Representatives member has cultivated a collaborative relationship with His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, working together to bring about remarkable development in Ajaokuta LGA and Kogi State as a whole. On this occasion of his birthday, we celebrate his noble achievements and pray for his continued success and prosperity.

Hon. Salman Idris is arguably the very best representative from Kogi State at the moment.

From a miraculous walk to the Federal House of Representatives in 2023 in a bid to making possible his vision for a better Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency to indeed getting the job done everyday ever since, Hon. Salman Idris has indeed done greatly so much so that even people from outside of Kogi State wish to have him as their own Federal representative.

When a leader is doing well, he makes it easier for anybody who wants to sing his praises to do so without having to lie. This is simply because there is usually an abundance of facts to support the conversation that yes, the leader has done well.

A year and a half is enough time to tell who is really doing well and who is not.

One House of Representatives Member that Kogites are proud of is none other than Hon. Salman Idris.

Personally, I have known the House of Representatives Member right from year 2018. His message of "Tiwa N'Tiwa" is one that within a short while became synonymous with him because he is a practical embodiment of his message.

He is not one of those everyday politicians. He is a successful architect. In fact, he is fondly known up until his time in the House of Representatives now, as "Arch. Salman Idris".

He has been that popular everywhere long before he decided to throw his hat into the ring to contest to represent his people, the good people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.

Hon. Salman Idris has done meritoriously well since his becoming a member of the House of Representatives.

The way and manner in which he takes the grassroots seriously is a proof that he is not one of those leaders who spend all their time in Abuja and forget "home".

Much as his office is in Abuja, he is in constant communication, even in person, with the people he represents in Abuja, being the people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State.

In the months to come, I will personally be x-raying his good works as his good works are not being publicized enough on the media space.

I believe that if somebody is doing well, it is the duty of we writers to write about it.

We are in a time where there is a high scarcity of good leaders, hence a good leader like Hon. Salman Idris is one who needs to be talked about everyday across blogs and across social media platforms and across the pages of newspapers.

In Hon. Salman Idris, the representative of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, I am proud to be a Kogite. He is indeed a blessing to the people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu, to Kogi State and to Nigeria at large.

Hon. Salman Idris has excelled in the aspect of grassroots empowerment, philanthropy, effective law-making in terms of bills and motions needed to make Nigeria a better nation.

In terms of legislative oversight functions, Hon. Salman Idris has done well.

He is the perfect definition of a square peg in a square hole. He has within the past one year and a half so far, proven that to be a good representative is not rocket science, as himself is walking the talk of good and quality representation, everyday.

Dele Momodu who is famous for usually standing by the opposition in an election has done it again. His Excellency John Mahama, the opposition candidate in the recently concluded Ghana Presidential election has emerged President-elect of Ghana and is set for a second term as Ghana's President, in a rather unbelievable twist of fate, after exiting the Presidency of Ghana in 2017.


While congratulations are in order in Ghana in the light of the recent victory of John Mahama in the recently concluded Ghana Presidential election, one unsong hero in the conversation yet is the man named Dele Momodu.

Much as John Mahama's return to Presidency in Ghana is a great win for the people of Ghana, one very important detail in the struggle for the soul of Ghana, a struggle that led to the victory of John Mahama is the behind-the-scene efforts of Dele Momodu.

All through the campaigns, Dele Momodu dared the doubting Thomases, withstood trolls and defied the odds and stood strongly by his friend, John Mahama inspite of the fact that the leading party in the build up to the election had a candidate and a vested interest to want to retain power in the election as against letting John Mahama stand at a chance at the polls at all. In fact, if there be a list of the first ten people to believe that John Mahama will stand a chance at the Ghana 2024 Presidential poll, Dele Momodu is among the first five.

The wind of positive change currently blowing across Ghana this morning, after God Almighty Himself, humanly speaking, Dele Momodu is to thank for it.

Dele Momodu believed in the John Mahama brand even when John Mahama himself was yet to be fully convinced that his victory is sure this time. That is who Dele Momodu is. He believes in you and he gives his all to support you till the very end, like he just did for John Mahama in the Ghana Presidential election.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) recently welcomed representatives from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Energy Resources and Deloitte to enhance cooperation on reducing methane emissions, advancing decarbonization, and improving emissions management within Nigeria’s upstream sector.

During this gathering, NUPRC's Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, highlighted the enduring partnership between Nigeria and the United States, which encompasses numerous areas, including energy collaboration. He emphasized the current administration's dedication, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to fortify bilateral ties, especially in the energy field.

Engr. Komolafe noted that, reflecting President Tinubu’s vision, the Commission is actively working to strengthen Nigeria-U.S. relations through strategic cooperation on energy projects and partnerships rooted in common climate goals.

Addressing decarbonization efforts, Engr. Komolafe described NUPRC's initiatives aimed at lowering carbon emissions. He mentioned the establishment of the Energy Sustainability and Carbon Management Division as a testament to the Commission’s commitment to a sustainable energy future. Additionally, he noted ongoing collaboration with multilateral agencies, development institutions, and U.S.-based entities like the U.S. Department of Energy and the Net-Zero World Initiative, reinforcing their dedication to joint efforts on energy and climate issues.

Moreover, Engr. Komolafe pointed to the development of a dynamic regulatory framework aimed at reducing gas flaring and emissions in Nigeria's upstream sector. This effort led to the release of the 2022 methane management guidelines and the 2023 Flaring and Venting Regulations.

“We are redefining Kogi’s economic narrative. Instead of merely exporting raw materials and importing finished products at inflated prices, we’re working to improve value chains and boost the local economy. Investments include the procurement of modern farm machinery, improved seedlings and livestock breeds, extension services to educate farmers on modern techniques, and the preparation of over 8,000 hectares of land allocated to youths and women,” he stated.

He added that the government is attracting reputable investors to add value to key crops such as cashew and cassava, for which Kogi is the leading producer in Nigeria.

The Commissioner urged investors to take advantage of the state’s investor-friendly policies, including efficient land and tax administration. He highlighted the administration’s commitment to education, which has produced a skilled workforce ready to support new investments.

“Kogi is blessed with the richest deposits of solid minerals and other resources in Nigeria. We urge our people to support the administration’s efforts to ensure these resources are harnessed for the benefit of all Kogites,” Fanwo concluded.

Prince Audu in a tribute released on behalf of the Audu family reads “Dear Dad, It is another November 22, a day we celebrate your life and times after you submitted your life to the will of Almighty Allah in one of the most unprecedented circumstances in the history of the political landscape in Nigeria. We will forever live to remember November 22, 2015, the day after the drums of celebrations that rang following your imminent victory in the Kogi State Gubernatorial elections as Governor-elect went silent and were quickly replaced by the wailings of your beloved people following your tragic and sudden death.

Adoja Edee, as I pen down this piece from my heart, nine years after your departure from this world, I find myself enveloped in a profound sense of gratitude and admiration for your life and all you stood for. You were not only my father but a remarkable statesman, a visionary politician, who laid a solid foundation for Kogites, with legacies that you will forever be remembered for in àné Igala, Kogi State and the country at large.

You will forever be remembered as an icon who championed initiatives that transformed Kogi State; institutions of learning like the Kogi State University, Anyigba, (now Prince Abubakar Audu University); Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja; College of Education, Ankpa, which have all already produced great leaders of today, as well as health institutions, such as the Eye Specialist Hospital in Ogbonicha and other state-of-the-art infrastructures you brought to the state including the Commissioners Quarters and the House of Assembly Complex both in Lokoja to mention a few.

Beyond your political accomplishments, you were a man of principle, integrity, and compassion, with the uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life, which helped shape and prepare me for service to country under the leadership of President Tinubu.

As we commemorate your life almost a decade after you left us, we reflect on your leadership, which was characterised by unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the notion that governance is not a privilege but a responsibility to the people. A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Time Frank, has commended the recent life-time achievement award conferred on a Nigerian-born American Professor of Medicine, Dr. Nnaemeka Umerah by the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.

Frank described the honour as a well-deserved recognition, adding that "The Professor of medicine is a shining light not only in Nigeria but also in diaspora."

The Presidential Lifetime Service Award in the United States is one of the most prestigious civil recognitions in the United States, bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated a lifetime commitment to volunteer service and building a stronger nation.

While giving the award, President Joe Biden said; “The American story depends not on any one of us, not on some of us, but on all of us. I congratulate you in taking it upon yourself to contribute to the public good and I am proud to present you with Presidential Lifetime Service Award in recognition to your service to this great nation”

In a congratulatory message he signed on Friday in Abuja, Timi Frank thanked President Joe Biden and the Government of United States of America for recognising the efforts and contribution of Prof. Umerah in the nation building.

Frank said at home in Nigeria, the Anambra born Umerah has continued to impact lives positively through various initiatives across the political zones.

While describing Umerah as a humanist and philanthropist, Frank said the US based professor has built one of the largest orphanages in Nigeria, renovated many schools across the country and provided boreholes in some rural communities in the Northern Nigeria.

Frank, however, called on Nigerian government to emulate US government and honour the Prof of Medicine at home, adding that such gesture will spur him and others to do more for the country.

The statement said: "It is an honour well deserved on your part considering your years of contributions to better humanity both in Nigeria and in the United States of America.

"For us, we are happy to celebrate this milestone and identify with your achievements as a humanist and a philanthropist of high repute. Thank you for making Nigeria and Nigerians proud," Timi Frank wrote.

Perhaps, it is for this obvious thought in perspective and many more, that the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, was voted Man of the Year in the 2024 Leadership Excellence Awards (LEEX).

Reportedly, in the 13-day nationwide poll, Adaora Umeoji, founder of Pink Breast Cancer Care Foundation, emerged Woman of the Year and Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Governor of the Year in that category.

Interestingly, Udom Emmanuel polled 1,460,388 votes to defeat, Chief Barth Nnaji, CEO, Geometric Power who got 861,976, while Otunba Michael Adenuga, Chairman, Globacom got 267,915 votes in the Man of the Year bout.

The Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu polled 437,528 votes to defeat the 298,344 votes garnered by Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno State.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Friday condemned in strong terms the purported scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and called for reversal to status quo.

President Tinubu had on Tuesday, among other far-reaching decisions and policy statements, announced the scrapping of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

He equally created the Ministry of Regional Development to superintend over all zonal interventionist bodies in the countries like the Niger Delta Development Commission, North East Development Commission etc.

However, Frank in a statement in Abuja described the President’s action concerning the abolition of the Niger Delta Ministry as “hasty and biased” without due consideration to the history, purpose, symbolism and significance of the ministry.

He recalled that the ministry was created by late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua of blessed memory as a child of necessity to help rev up economic development of the Niger Delta Region by carrying out focused critical interventions to revitalise the degraded eco-system occasioned by long years of oil exploration and production.

He recalled that since its creation, incidences of youth restiveness and damage to oil installations which germane to the economic survival of the country have been reduced to the barest minimum.

He wondered why the President would choose to increase the economic and social burdens of Niger Deltans instead of lighten them.

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, said: “The President took this overly biased and hasty decision to scrap a Ministry which hitherto symbolised integration, hope, economic and environmental wellbeing of the people of Niger Deltans whose resources are being continuously exploited to service other regions, the devastating environmental impact on the people notwithstanding.

“It is obvious that this biased highly discriminatory, oppressive decision was taken without any iota dialogue with or regard for the leaders and people of the Niger Delta Region and we call on the President to urgently reverse this knee-jerk decision and restore the ministry in the interest of peace, economic wellbeing of the federation and survival and sustainability of the people of the region.

“We dare say that the development of Niger Delta as the goose that lays the golden egg and too critical to be subsumed under the Ministry of Regional Development where it would obvious be starved of attention due to political exigencies in favour of other regions.

“Is it not suspicious that President Tinubu created a Ministry of Livestock Development to appease and curtail the incidences of farmers/Herders crisis in the North, but chose abolish a ministry created to solve youth restiveness and and incessant crises and agitations for resource control in the Niger Delta?”

“Is it unfortunate that the President has chosen to disdain and disrespect and victimise the Niger Delta people by treating them like an outcast not minding that it is the Region that creates the greater percentage of the nation’s common wealth.

“How have the people of Niger Delta region and their illustrious leaders offended the President to warrant this fiat reversal of their fortunes and symbol of belongingness?

“We believe it is not too late for the President to press the undo button capable of saving the region from impending cataclysmic upheavals that may result from this obnoxious action.

“It is important to note that the ministry was born out of negotiation and any subsequent actions concerning ministry must be through negotiations and dialogue.

“We hereby call on the president to heed to the call of Chief E.K Clark as the leader and pride of the Niger Delta Region and also the call by Alhaji Asari Dokubo who is one of his major supporters in the region, to reverse the vindictive decision immediately and call a stakeholders’ meeting for dialogue.

“Above all, the President must be prepared to take full responsibility of the actions of the Niger Delta people if and when they decide to react to this monumental injustice and victimization.”

Association of Nigeria Female Students on Monday, October 14, 2024 honoured the Special Assistant on Political Matters to Prince Shuaibu Audu Abubakar, Nigeria's Steel Development Minister; with Hall of Fame award.

According to the group, Hon. Solomon Itopa merited the award because of how well he has done in office this past one year.

"He is a hope for the youths. He is a lead-advocate for the rights of females to seek education up to the highest extent they wish for.

"He is also an advocate for females' participation in politics and leadership.

"These are the ideals that inspire us at the Association of Nigeria Female Students, hence we honoured Hon. Solomon Itopa this day with a Hall of Fame award to encourage him to keep up the good works he is doing especially as a leader and an inspiration to many youths," the association leadership said during the award presentation.

The leadership of Iron and Steel Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ISSSAN), has assured President Ahmed Tinunu that the union is working in synergy with the Minister of Steel Development, Hon. Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu for the success and completion of Ajaokuta Steel Company limited and National Iron Ore Mining Company Itakpe.

The union also stated that they will provide every necessary information that will aid the Minister to succeed and to provide excellent report that will lead us to being an industrialised nation for the betterment of Nigerian citizens

The Chairman of the union, Comrade Ibrahim Audu Abdurrahman in a press statement issued on Saturday tagged Ajaokuta Steel: ” Misleading and malicious allegations peddled by individuals against the Honourable Minister of Steel Development”.

“Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu is a man who knows how to get the job done. Based on his innovative ideas and experience as a leader and a diligent public servant, he was able to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Government, as the original builder of Ajaokuta integrated steel power plant.

“To our dismay, we have seen some purported and sponsored write-ups flying all over the social media claiming that Honourable Minister is underperforming. We the union leaders of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited refute that misleading statement coming from the so-called group called Nigeria Good Governance Research Group (NGGRG).

According to him, the sponsor of the mischievous group has no good intention towards the revitalization of Ajaokuta Steel Company and we urge the Federal Government to concentrate attentively on the path being toed by Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, the Hon. Minister of steel development.

“I call on the breeding pen to promote the revitalization process of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and National Iron Ore Mining Company Itakpe, Kogi state being led by Hon. Minister, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu.

"This is a clarion call to all Nigerians to reflect back on some of the historical foundation of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and its current situation. It wil be detrimental to all if we deny where we were before at this particular point in time and where we will be in the nearest future.

“The integrated steel power plant was commissioned under the administration of Alhaji. Shehu Shagari, acknowledging iron and steel as the bedrock of industrialization. After Tyazhpromexport (TPE) left the company at about 98% completion in 2002. The company had been inoperative; Government after Government, before President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration who had Government to Government negotiation with Russian Government to revive Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited as the bedrock of the nation. However all efforts were not materialized as a result of covid-19 pandemic and political saboteurs at the time.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration vehemently believe a nation without steel industry will fall behind as an economic hub. There-in he created Ministry of steel development to manage the affairs of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited.

“The recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Russian Consortium, led by the original builders of Ajaokuta Steel Plant, Tyazhpromexport (TPE), including Novostal M and Proforce Manifacturing Limited, for the rehabilitation and completion of Ajaokuta Steel Plant, is indeed a positive development, a dream come true for many Nigerians who already tagged the plant as a white-elephant or failed project.

“We are very proud of the Honourable Minister, and we believe in his capacity to steer the plant’s resuscitation project. Therefore, as a joint union, we will not sit down and allow saboteurs of all kinds, doomsday analysts, political jobbers and their agents to scheme their ways in to stall this project from coming to light. It is time for everyone to keep their vested interests aside and focus on what is best for Nigeria.

“It is important that the Ministry staff, from Directors to the Permanent Secretary down to the lowest management staff, should do a just work by joining the Minister and Mr President to achieve the the resuscitation of Ajaokuta.

The union, therefore, urged all the critical stakeholders to let the breeding pen write progressively and shun destructive criticisms, to move this nation forward.

The "inglorious" exit of Damagun and Anyanwu was necessary to save PDP from "closing shop" as a political party

We the members of the PDP Youth Alliance for Good Governance are using this moment to celebrate the suspension of Umar Iliya Damagun and his secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.

We all woke up just as every other Nigerians and every other great lover of PDP to see that finally, Damagun and Anyawu, the two co-travellers in the destruction of the PDP have finally been sent packing from the helm of affairs of the PDP.

At first, the downward movement of the PDP was doubted till we saw how the downfall of PDP rather became clearly imminent, PDP's going down began to wear a human face quickly, the faces of the undertakers of the party was revealed and; lo and behold it was the faces of Damagun and Anyanwu.

Therefore, we make bold to say that their suspension was to Nigerians an act of freedom. Nigerians all over the world are in celebration mood right now.

Two people who have held PDP to ransom have been sent packing. Now, that is what we call an inglorious exit and yet again and moreso it was necessary to save PDP from closing shop as a political party.

We condemn the anti-party activities of Damagun, in the strongest possible terms. We thank the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser, Barr. Kamaldeen SAN for rising to the occasion and saving the party from closing shop.

Damagun’s reign oversaw some of the worst form of open anti-party activities and pampering offenders with kids gloves as against the constitution of our party which frowns strongly at anti-party regardless of who is involved.

We urge the new leadership of the PDP to immediately review the shoddy congresses that was conducted across 18 States, with a view to make sure more proper congresses are called for in such States immediately to return the party to the people and not to continually let the party be in the grip of a few greedy individuals who are hell-bent on ensuring the PDP no longer exists as a political party any more but rather a proverbial Fuji House of commotion and a mere SPV for party membership to those who need party membership for strategic hire to the continued perpetuation of the APC in power.
