PoliticsThe Greatness Of Governor Obaseki's Giant Strides In Edo State by Itopalucky(op): 10:23am On Nov 22, 2023
By Andrew Enantomhen

Since taking charge of Edo State in 2016, Governor Godwin Obaseki set his eyes on the prize and not for a moment has he been overtaken by any distraction.

Governor Obaseki transformed the various sectors of Edo State, from transport to sports to education to health, to mention but a few.

Governor Obaseki has also in the past 7 years increased the internally generated revenue of Edo State far beyond what his predecessors did. Governor Obaseki is giving Edo State a new facelift in every passing day. He is adjudged one of the most hardworking Governors in the history of Nigeria.

Governor Obaseki has attracted alot of investments to Edo State in Billions of US Dollar. He has also repositioned the State in terms of human capital development. Many youths in Edo State are now better engaged for better transformation of their own immediate environment and the society at large.

Under Governor Obaseki, there has been lasting peace in Edo State as Governor Obaseki invested heavily in the local and police security of the State.

In a bid to bring great minds to Edo State from time to time for them to better appreciate the untapped glory in Edo State, Governor Obaseki organises programmes such as the recently concluded Alaghodaro summit.

Alaghodaro summit brings together leaders of thought and investors and captains of industry from all over the world to show them around Edo State and to get them to invest in the untapped resources in Edo State and to share thoughts on the ever-evolving concept of leadership.

There is no doubt that Governor Obaseki is finishing strong as he has been a great Governor who has stayed focused on the job right from his first day in office as Governor of Edo State.

CultureTemiloluwa Ogunniyi Unveils The Wings Of Compassion Foundation by Itopalucky(op): 10:05pm On Nov 14, 2023
In a statement personally signed and made available to press, Mr. Temiloluwa Ogunniyi reminisced on the values he drew with, and highlighted the noble objectives of the The Wings Of Compassion Foundation.

As a young boy who grew up in a modest home, my parents always impressed on us that the essence of truly living a life of value is to live for others, selflessly. As I journeyed through life, these words engraved in my heart continue to drive my passion for helping people; making things better; ameliorating people’s living conditions, and ensuring the concept of service to humanity is never lost on me. Thankfully, my parents who mentored me in this light are here today as I seek to institutionalize all those core values instilled in me while growing up.

It is pertinent that I place this on record that, The Wings Of Compassion Foundation is a duly registered non-profit organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, and all other necessary Government agencies. We are a well-structured organization whose operational activities will conform with international best practices and in strict accordance with the laws of the land.

The Wings Of Compassion Foundation is a child or necessity whose vision is to contribute meaningfully to societal growth and human capital development. As a Non-governmental organization, we have tailored our action plans to specifically address issues that will have a positive impact on the people. Some of which I'll share with you all today. For want of time, I'll quickly elucidate, in this format, our desired goal for the people and our society:

For Peace: having realized that without peace, nothing meaningful can be achieved. We are poised to engage policy actors and social leaders with concepts, ideas, and suggestions that can prevent the emergence, escalation, and proliferation of conflict which can collapse State structures. Also, we will advocate for improved social, mental, and physical standards of people, especially the governed, to build peaceful and just social State systems that will enhance better living standards, and foster peaceful cohesion within communities/states, thereby ensuring people’s response and support to government authorities in developing their various communities.

For Entrepreneurship: We shall set in motion a mechanism to encourage more people to become self-reliant and employers of labor. We will organize practical skills acquisition training and mentorship fora, where we will connect those who are already established and successful in certain areas of entrepreneurship with trainees for a direct impact on skill set. More so, we will be empowering deserving candidates with the necessary work tools in their chosen fields.

For Education: our goal is to strive to have more Nigerians have access to good and quality education. As such, we will encourage students or prospective students with educational materials, scholarships, school uniforms, and footwear, organize career seminars, and pitch for educational policies. More so, we shall establish an electronic library which will be made accessible to anyone interested. On this, our goal is to also donate writing desks, chairs, marker boards, etc.

For Health: It is generally known that health is wealth. We are geared towards organizing free medical care outreaches, donating drugs and equipments to primary health care centers, free health care insurance, and sensitization programs on healthy lifestyles.

These are some of the lofty visions and components of what we seek to contribute to humanity. Let me state unequivocally that we are open to a partnership that will further deliver on our lofty vision and mission. Let me also use this medium to call on the general public, spirited individuals, and kind-hearted people to please support us as we strive towards making the world a better place, one society after another.

Thank you for listening

PoliticsLocking Lokoja Stadium Will Not Stop PDP’s Victory - Melaye Mocks Yahaya Bello by Itopalucky(op): 3:14pm On Nov 07, 2023
Kogi Guber 2023: Locking Lokoja Stadium Will not Stop PDP’s Victory - Melaye Campaign Mocks Yahaya Bello, APC

The Dino Melaye Campaign Organization has told the deflated Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, that denying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Senator Dino Melaye access to the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, to host the Grand Finale of his rally, scheduled for Thursday, will not save the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Usman Ododo, from an inevitable crushing defeat at the November 11, 2023 Governorship election.

Describing the action of the governor as “childish, irresponsible and immature,” the Dino/Habiba Campaign notes that “the action by the Yahaya Bello-led APC administration in Kogi State further confirms that the APC is in panic mode and has come to its wits end having realized that it has been rejected by the people.

“We call the attention of lovers of democracy and global democratic institutions to the horrible political shenanigans going on in Kogi State.

“Our campaign is however not deterred as the people of Kogi State are solidly behind our candidate; they will come out en-masse on Thursday, move from house-to-house and march to victory at the poll on Saturday.

The people of Kogi State are determined to march with Senator Dino Melaye to end the sufferings of the last eight years and not even such shenanigans by the APC and Yahaya Bello can stop them.

PoliticsDismiss Bassey Akpan’s Baseless Appeal, Gov Eno Tells Appellate Court by Itopalucky(op): 5:35pm On Nov 06, 2023
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has urged the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos to dismiss the appeal brought before it by Senator Bassey Albert Akpan of the Young Progressives Party, YPP and uphold the decision of the lower court, which declared him winner of the Governorship election held on March 18 2023.

In Appeal number CA//C/EP/GOV/AKW/24/2023, filed by defeated Governorship candidate of the
YPP, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, and his party, against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Governor Umo Eno, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the Governor held that the Governorship Elections Petitions Tribunal in Uyo was right in upholding his victory in the 2023 Governorship elections after Bassey Albert failed to establish his claims of forgery and electoral malpractice.

When the Appeal came up at the Appeal Court, Lagos Division on Monday, the Governor through his Lead Counsel Paul Usoro, SAN, Paul Usoro, SAN, faulted the arguments by the Appellants that the judgement of the Supreme Court in the matter of certificate forgery against the 2nd Respondent by Mr Akan Okon, was different from the certificate forgery case brought before the elections tribunal.

Chief Usoro averred that, “the Appellants submissions amount to mere sophistry and are entirely erroneous and misconceived”, adding "that a judgment in rem is a judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction determining the status of a person or things distinct from the particular interest of a party ot the litigation.”

“My lord, when the court gave the judgment, it clearly decided that the said documents is not forged but belongs to the 2nd respondent. It implies that the judgment is applicable to PDP, INEC, the court, or any establishment for that matter”, said the Counsel to the 2nd defendant.

Paul Usoro argued further that, it was legally imperative that there should be an end to litigation, and as such the appellants had no reason to keep belaboring the court over a matter that had been sufficiently resolved at the highest court of the land.

The Appellants, jointly represented by Barr Tunde Falola, held that they were dissatisfied by the ruling and judgement of the tribunal upholding the preliminary objections of the Respondents and dismissing the petition, hence the appeal.

The appellants argued that they had presented 18 witnesses (PW 1- PW 18) before the tribunal, and had sufficiently shown that the 2nd Respondent was at the time of the election not qualified to contest the election because he presented forged certificate to Independent National Electoral Commission and that he was not elected by majority of lawful votes cast at the election.

Falola argued that the 2nd Respondent did not present any proof that the West African Examinations certificates, of June 1981 bearing the name, Bassey Umo Eno, which he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, truly belonged to him, as his name ought to have been written as Umo Bassey Eno.

Counsel to INEC, Kolapo Kolade,SAN, said the petitioners never produced either a true owner of the certificate which they claimed did not truly belong to Pastor Umo Eno, and that they never produced any document to buttress their claims of forgery.

“My lord, for any case of forgery to be established, the petitioners have to produce the original document and place it side by side with the alleged forged document. This was never done by the appellants at the lower court”, the INEC Counsel said.

On his part, Counsel to the PDP, Tayo Oyetibo, SAN, among other things, argued that even the Ist Appellant, Bassey Albert, presented before the lower court, three documents which bore the arrangement of his name in three different ways, Akpan Albert, Bassey Albert Akpan and Albert Bassey Akpan, yet still claimed ownership of the three documents.

“My lord, their own subpoenaed witness, a senior staff of the University of Uyo came to the court and attested that he was the academic officer who admitted the 2nd Respondent and that he authenticated his documents himself.”

Oyetibo also recounted how all the witnesses brought by the Appellants at the lower court repeated the same line of arguments in their witness statements, forcing the lower court to trash them as lacking in substance snd originality.

Earlier, Tunde Falola had raised an objection opposing the acceptability of the respondents’ briefs of argument, alleging that they exceeded the 25 pages stipulated by the practice direction of the Appeal Court.

The counsel to INEC, Kolade, counsel to Governor Umo Eno, Paul Usoro, and Counsel to PDP, Tayo Oyetibo, however told the court that the briefs they submitted were within the 25 pages stipulated and that the lists of counsel, lists of authorities and addresses for service which are not part of the briefs of argument were not to be included as part of the briefs of argument.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, Engr. Emem Coffie has approached the Appeal Court, seeking that the judgement of the lower trial tribunal be upturned in his favour.

The Governorship candidate and his party who were represented by their counsel, Chidi Nwachukwu argued that his client deserves to be declared the Governor as other candidates in the election, were not qualified to contest the election.

Mr Coffie maintained that the respondents did not present any witness, and as such their petition ought to have been upheld.

However, Counsel to Governor Umo Eno, Paul Usoro,SAN, counsel to INEC, Kolapo Kolade, SAN and Mofesomo Oyetibo faulted the claims by the appellants that 800 polling units recorded infractions, saying no effort was made by the petitioners to identify the 800 units, neither was there any attempt to bring witnesses from any of the said polling units.

They also told the court that the only witness the appellants brought, was the Governorship candidate, Emem Coffie who admitted that he was only in his polling unit and after voting on the said date, went to his house.

“Every evidence they gave, amounted to hearsay and that is why the lower court dismissed the case,” Mofesomo Oyetibo, Counsel to the PDP told the Court.

The court also heard the appeal filed by Akpan Abraham of the Action Alliance against the 15th September judgment of the Governorship Election Tribunal.

The Appellants had appealed against what they tagged as unlawful exclusion by INEC, but the respondents in their separate briefs urged the court to discountenance the appeal by AA, as it constitutes pre-election matter bothering on internal party disputes, which the party itself failed to resolve before the elections.

All matters were subsequently adjourned to a later date for judgement by the Appeal Court.

Addressing journalists after the session, Counsel to the 2nd respondent, Paul Usoro said with the two petitions heard, they await the next hearing date for the appeal brought by the APC and its governorship candidate, as well as that of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP.

Also speaking to journalists, counsel to the YPP Candidate, Tunde Falola said he has presented his appeal before the court and can only wait for Justice to be served.

The Appellants, YPP and Senator Bassey Albert, are challenging the judgement of the Governorship Petitions Tribunal in Uyo, which confirmed Pastor Umo Eno as the validly elected Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor, who is the 2nd Respondent was represented by Paul Usoro, SAN, Essien Udom,SAN, Uwemedimo Nwoko,SAN and Emmanuel Enoidem, while the 2nd Respondent, PDP legal counsel was led by Tayo Oyetibo, SAN.

The 1st Respondent, INEC had Kolapo Kolade, SAN leading its team in court today.

The Appellants were represented by Barr. Tunde Falola.

The Tribunal had dismissed Bassey Albert’s case on September 29, upholding the objections to the case by the respondents and also delivering judgment to affirm the Governor’s eligibility to contest to March 18 polls, and legitimacy as the validly elected Governor with the majority of lawful votes.

The other two appellants, Emem Coffie and Abraham Akpan, had earlier lost their cases at the tribunal on September 15.

PoliticsFORIJA Criticise Shuaibu's Alignment With Governor Bello’s "3rd Term Aspiration" by Itopalucky(op): 8:24pm On Nov 04, 2023
The Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) has expressed profound disappointment in Prince Shuaibu Audu’s decision to spearhead the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the upcoming November 11 governorship election in Kogi State. As the son of the beloved and esteemed leader, Prince Audu Abubakar, who was renowned for his integrity, dedication to good governance, and love for the Igala people, the FORIJA sees this move as a betrayal of his father’s legacy and the goodwill earned by their family.

Governor Yahaya Bello, whose third term bid Prince Shuaibu Audu is supporting, has been chastised by the FORIJA for presiding over a regime marked by corruption, incompetence, and repression. According to the group, Bello’s governance has failed to fulfill the promises made by Prince Audu Abubakar, plunging the State into a spiral of debt and mismanagement.

According to the group, the Igala people, under Bello’s rule, have endured immense suffering. The state’s economy is in disarray, with many Kogites grappling with financial hardships. Moreover, the state is rife with insecurity, driven by human-made violence and crime.

The FORIJA fervently urged Prince Shuaibu Audu to reconsider his stance and withdraw support for Bello’s candidate, Usman Ahmed Ododo. The FORIJA asserts that it is Prince Shuaibu Audu’s responsibility to honor his father’s legacy and stand against the inhumane practices perpetuated by Bello’s administration.

Additionally, the FORIJA called on Prince Shuaibu Audu to leverage his platform to speak out against the injustices and oppression prevalent in Kogi State, stressing his responsibility to defend the rights of the Igala people.

Highlighting the necessity for a leader committed to honesty, competence, and the well-being of the Igala people, the FORIJA implored Prince Shuaibu Audu to support a candidate who genuinely represents the interests of the Kogi State populace.

Dino Melaye Will Win Kogi Governorship Election, PDP Youth Council Declares

...Says APC should focus on teaching Ododo basic English

The Dino/Deen Youth Campaign Council on Friday declared that Senator Dino Melaye, the Governorship candidate of the Kogi State PDP, is favoured to win the November 11 Kogi State Governorship election.

The PDP youth council said it is "amused that the disgraced APC spokesman, Kingsley Fanwo, still found his voice to try to score a cheap political point against the PDP candidate after he was roundly dismissed by his main boss, Governor Yahaya Bello for telling barefaced lies which he is notoriously known for."

The PDP youth campaign council further said "it is important to note that the majority of Kogites who have been at the receiving end of the Governor Bello and APC repressive rule since 2015 are determined to end APC’s disastrous rule by throwing their weight behind Senator Dino Melaye.

"Senator Dino Melaye is set to win this November 11 governorship election in Kogi State. He has no competitor in this forthcoming Governorship election."

"Dino Melaye is miles ahead of the APC Governorship candidate. While Dino Melaye is hosting press conferences and marketing himself to the electorate, the APC candidate can't even sell himself.

“It is laughable that Ahmed Usman Ododo, who can not speak in public place to market himself to the good people of Kogi State, because of grammatical blunders, is pretending to be in the governorship race.

"It is time for the APC to listen to the voices of reasoning by advising its candidate to bow out of the campaign now that it still has time, and focus on hiring an English language teacher to teach him how to use basic English, at the very least, as it is usually an embarrassment each time the APC candidate speaks," the Kogi State PDP youth council concluded.

Politics"Leke Abejide Is Not Contesting To Win", Group Raises Alarm by Itopalucky(op): 12:30pm On Oct 30, 2023
.…says Abejide was planted to deplete PDP votes in Kogi west

The African Youth Leadership Initiative (AYLI) has raised concerns over the recent developments in the Kogi State gubernatorial election.

The Initiative says it can confirm to the general public, especially the good people of Kogi State, that Elder Leke Abejide, the candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) has been in nocturnal meetings with the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to strategize and perfect their plans of depleting the votes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi West.

The Initiative says it has intercepted a vital intel of how Leke Abejide has lobbied to secure an appointment with President Bola A. Tinubu to perfect his plans of the spoiler game he was employed to play in Kogi West in exchange for “favours” from the Presidency, and the meeting will hold today, October 30, 2023.

The youth initiative said that it is important to note that Kogi West is the home and fortress of Sen. Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming November 11 Kogi State election.

The African Youth Leadership Initiative said that it is instructive to let the world know that the candidacy of Leke Abejide of the ADC is nothing but a deliberate attempt to aide Yahaya Bello and the APC to continue in the pilfering of Kogi State common patrimony and subject the State to untold hardship.

By making himself available to divide the votes of the stronghold of the PDP, Leke Abejide stands as the clog in the wheel of progress in Kogi State.

African Youth Leadership Initiative has urged every well meaning Kogite with conscience to look back at the harrowing eight (cool years of Yahaya Bello’s oppressive and repressive reign in Kogi State and decide if they want to continue in the plague of the APC or if they want to free themselves from the shackles of the APC.

The initiative has urged the good people of Kogi State in their thousands who has either lost a loved one or was negatively affected indirectly as a result of the deliberate anti-peoples policy of the APC to treat Leke’s governorship ambition with a pinch of salt, as it is a failed project which is aimed at re-enthroning the APC via the backdoor so as to re-enthrone continued backwardness and catastrophic social economic damage to the State.

PoliticsKogi 2023: "Allegation Against Our Campaign DG Reflects Mental Laziness" - APC by Itopalucky(op): 3:37pm On Oct 24, 2023
The Kogi State APC Governorship campaign council has on Tuesday reacted to an allegation of "technical disenfranchisement" from some quarters against Hon. Shuaibu Audu Abubakar, the Minister for Steel Development and Director-General of the Kogi State APC Governorship campaign council.

According to a statement of response by Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Spokesperson of the Kogi State APC campaign council; "The attention of the Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council has been drawn to a reckless falsehood to the effect that our Campaign DG, HM Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu was distributing recharge cards that will automatically deactivate the voter’s cards of the beneficiaries.

"As ludicrous and mentally indolent as the allegations are, it is pertinent to set the record straight to save the unsuspecting public from the unbridled propaganda of the opposition. Their intent is to create panic, spread falsehood and make it look like Kogi is at war."

"They know they can’t win any election here because the people of Kogi State know the leaders they trust. Our Director General, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has a reputation of transparency and respect for the rule of law. He possesses a capacity to be trusted and followed by the people. He does not need to contemplate any foul means of winning election when his pedigree, antecedents, track record and family background place him on a comfortable pedestal to ensure his people remain with the party that has served them so well and that will do better and more for the people at all levels.

"It is on this note we call on the people to disregard the figment of the imagination of the scripters of the fiction. Our party will win a free, fair and credible election on November 11.

"Kogi is APC and APC is Kogi," the statement further said.

PoliticsKogi 2023: We Shall Return LG Administration To Grassroots, Dino Melaye Assures by Itopalucky(op): 5:22pm On Oct 19, 2023
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election, Senator Dino Melaye, has told the people of the state that he will return local government administration to the grassroots immediately he assumes office.

Melaye, who gave this assurance while interacting with Women and Youths elected officials of his party, on Wednesday, in Lokoja, Kogi State, said that is the first method of bringing back development to the people.

According to him, the stripping of the local government property, resources and funds by the government of Governor Yahaya Bello, has subjected the people to a life of poverty.

“This must not be allowed to continue for another third term under Bello. Our people certainly do not deserve their current pains and shame,” he asserted, according to a press statement by his campaign office.

Continuing, he said; “There are many of you seated here who conduct your daily activities at the local government level and will prefer that governments at the state and federal levels allow your businesses and trade to operate effectively at the grassroots.

“I want to promise you, my fellow Kogites, that as Governor of Kogi State, by the special grace of the Almighty God, we are going to return local government administration back to the local governments, Melaye submitted.

When the word equivalent is used as a noun, it connotes an element that existed before another element; can perform the same function as the other element or is recognizable as a substitute for the other element.

By the meaning of "equivalent" demonstrated above a lawyer who is not below the cognate experience of 10 years as a licensed professional is constitutionally and statutorily qualified to be appointed as the Head or Chairman of the EFCC.

The enforcement of law is the responsibility of all citizens as our criminal law system permits even private individuals to initiate criminal proceedings and even arrest suspects and hand over to appropriate government agencies.

By section 287 of the Constitution all persons are bound to enforce judgments of all courts of records.

By the word equivalent, a lawyer who is licensed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria to practice law is Nigeria which includes enforcement and security generally cannot be said in good sense of judgment, not to belong to the government security or law enforcement agency.

Even if a lawyer who studies the law more than the police officer and other security officers cannot be qualified as equivalent of the law enforcement officer or security officer ,then I wander what equivalent meant in that section.

This is so because even the Police Act restricted the prosecution of cases in court to officers who must be licensed lawyers in the Force.

It is not every police officer that can prosecute criminal cases in court unless that police officer is a licensed legal practitioner.

That's the exceptional position Nigerian law created in favour of legal practitioners. One cannot even interpret the law except he is first of all a licensed lawyer or assisted by a licensed lawyer.

The involvement of lawyers in security and law enforcement cannot therefore be overstated.

In the case of Ola OluKoyede Esq, he is over 22 years as a seasoned legal practitioner with special knowledge of the EFCC administration before his appointment which is an added advantage.

A better argument would have been that he is not competent to handle the position but the argument is that Mr president breached the law as Ola is not a police officer or from law enforcement agency or security agency without a discussion on the phrase "or equivalent".

Which law sir? Mr President exercises his discretion appropriately and there is no sanction or preconditions for appointment of either the Chairman or the Secretary of the Commission.

It is a matter of common knowledge that the EFCC Boss is under the supervision of the Attorney General of the Federation by law.

By section 150 of the Constitution, a lawyer who is not below the age of 10 years as a legal practitioner is eminently qualified to be appointed to occupy the office of the Attorney General of the Federation who is the Chief Law officer of the federation.

Can a reasonable man applying the constitutional test argue that Ola Oluloyede is not qualified to be appointed the Attorney of the Federation?

If he is qualified to be appointed to supervise the office of the EFCC Chairman, then is it to occupy it that he would not be qualified?

Our arguments should be based more on the capacity to deliver than relying on abstract legalism incapable of achieving our national interest.

It is therefore respectfully submitted that Mr president did not breach any law in relation to the appointment of Mr Ola Olukoyede as the EFCC Chairman.

Olukoyede is eminently qualified to occupy the office of the EFCC Chairman.

If he would have been in the Police Force as at 22years of practice he would have been above the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police.

Therefore the arguments that Ola is not statutorily qualified and the President breached the EFCC Act by his appointment are of no moment.

PoliticsRefuse To Be Deceived By Unauthenticated Media Falsehood Relating To CSU by Itopalucky(op):
BY S.T YENGE ESQ

Common sense is our problem in Nigeria and therefore the social media falsehood occupied the space on the issuance of a Certificate by CSU which is different from the one presented to INEC. Does that make sense?

Can an institution issue two certificates in the normal course of events?

How can CSU possibly and practicably presents another Certificate in 2023?

There is always one original certificate issued to a graduated student.Except the CSU did not issue the original copy of the Certificate to Tinubu.

The same University cannot have another Certificate to issue. If they do, it would be a fresh one which cannot be signed by the person who issued it in 1979.

If the Certificate of 2023 is different from the one of 1979 which the difference must exist, which of the Certificates would be regarded as the Original as there cannot be two originals?

I think the CSU cannot act in such a manner of issuing another Certificate as speculated through the social media. Such proposition is by no means unintelligible with the greatest respect.

What could be produced from the CSU would be the Certified True Copy of the transcript and not the Certificate any longer as the Original had since left the university. It is only the CSU that can properly and authoritatively assert that the Certificate presented to INEC by President Tinubu was forged and no other because they were the issued authority.

The person who can sign certificate today from CSU cannot possibly be the same person that would have signed same in 1979.

The two certificates could not certainly be dated the same.

It is the later issued that could be regarded as forged and not the older one of 1979. That is, if the issue of forgery would be inferred from the circumstances at all.

Finally the Certificate presented to INEC was it the photocopy or the Original? Is it the original that was forged or the photocopy?

Who is in custody of the original from where forgery would necessarily be committed?

Who is alleging forgery? Has he ever seen the original from where the alleged forgery has been committed?

Was he present where and when the forgery was been committed?

These are critical questions that a reasonable mind would answer, all in the affirmative before embarking of media distractions.

The CSU media hullabaloo remains an unpatriotic distraction of government from focusing on delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of Nigeria.

It ought and must be disregarded by Nigerians!!!!!

PoliticsYou Have No Power To Control Firearms – Court Stops Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello by Itopalucky(op): 10:35am On Oct 18, 2023
......Orders Probe Of Illegal State Task Force

The court in a ruling by Justice J.K. Omotosho further declared the appointment of Friday Sani Makama as Director General of the Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Firearms as made by the Executive Governor as illegal, null and void.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has restrained Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State from controlling or attempting to regulate the possession of or dealing in firearms in the state.

The court in a ruling by Justice J.K. Omotosho further declared the appointment of Friday Sani Makama as Director General of the Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Firearms as made by the Executive Governor as illegal, null and void.

Justice Omotosho gave the order on October 5 in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/697/2 filed by Hon. Ahmadu Danjuma against the Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Friday Sani Makama, the Director General, State Security Service, the Director-General, National Intelligent Agency, the Inspector General of Police and the National Security Adviser.

In a certified true copy of the order dated October 13, 2023, which SaharaReporters obtained, the court set aside the appointment of Mr. Friday Sani Makama as Director General of the Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Firearms in Kogi State by Governor Yahaya Bello.

The court ordered the Director General of SSS (State Security Services) and the National Security Adviser to investigate and retrieve all firearms and ammunitions in Mr. Makama’s possession or under the control of the Special Task Force.

The court ruled that the Governor of Kogi State did not possess the authority to unilaterally regulate or control the possession and dealing in firearms within the state, saying the proper agencies responsible for regulating firearms in Kogi State and Nigeria are the Director General of the State Security Service, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, and the Inspector General of Police, under the guidance of the National Security Adviser.

It therefore declared the appointment of Makama by Governor Bello as Director General of the Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Firearms to Kogi State as “illegal, null and void” as the appointment was deemed not only unlawful but also a potential threat to the safety and security of Kogi State.

The judgment partly read: "THAT the 1st Defendant has no powers to unilaterally regulate or control the possession of or dealing in firearms in Kogi State or any part thereof

"THAT the 3rd to 6th Respondents are the proper agencies to regulate the possession of and dealing in firearms and ammunitions in Kogi State, and Nigeria

"THAT the appointment of the 2nd Defendant by the 1st Defendant as Director General, Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Firearms to Kogi State for the purpose of superintending firearms in Kogi State is illegal, null and void.

"THAT, the appointment of the 2nd Defendant as Director General, Special Task Force on illegal Smuggling of Firearms to Kogi State is illegal and constitutes a threat to the safety and security of Kogi State.

"THAT AN ORDER is hereby made setting aside the appointment of the 2nd Defendant by the 1st Defendant as Director General, Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Firearms to Kogi State

"THAT AN ORDER is hereby made directing the 3rd to 6th Defendants to invite, interrogate and Investigate, the 2nd Defendant and all persons working with, or under him with a view to receiving, repossessing and/or retrieving all firearms currently in his possession or in possession of the Special Task Force or any member thereof.

"THAT AN ORDER of perpetual injunction is hereby made, restraining the 1st Defendant from regulating or controlling or purporting to regulate or control the possession of, or dealing in firearms in Kogi State or any part thereof."

InvestmentNUPRC Boss Woos Investors On Opportunities For Energy Development and Security by Itopalucky(op): 10:26am On Oct 13, 2023
The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe has rallied operators in the African oil and gas business to see Nigeria as a veritable ground to launch their investment portfolios towards a cleaner development and energy security.

Komolafe, who was speaking in far away South Africa, Wednesday, on ‘Energy Transmission Regime: Leveraging Investment Opportunities in the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Sector’, told the participants that Nigeria offers huge investment opportunities in oil and gas exploration and development and ready to collaborate with them to harness it.

He said: “Nigeria is a nation where needs meet opportunities, and is looking forward to collaborating with interested industry players to unlock the full potential of the country’s upstream petroleum sector in an environmentally sustainable manner.

“The country’s drive to grow oil and gas reserves and boost production, for energy security offers huge investment opportunities in exploration and development. But, alongside this are also huge investment opportunities for the deployment of decarbonisation technologies to ensure environmental sustainability.

“To support this drive, the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, mandates that (in Nigeria) only projects with gas utilisation plans in the upstream sector will be approved or sanctioned.”

He disclosed this in a press release sequel to the event, ‘Africa Oil Week’ which was flagged off in Cape Town, South Africa on October 9, 2023 with the theme ‘Maximising Africa’s Natural Resources in the Global Energy Transition’.

The NUPRC boss said the Commission has intensified efforts at eliminating those elements that were harmful to the environment while conserving more gas for other beneficial uses.

“We have intensified efforts toward eliminating flared gas while arresting methane and other fugitive gas emissions, by commercializing forty-nine (49) flare sites through the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialization Program (NGFCP).

“The significance of this is that more gas would be available for domestic utilisation as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), feedstock for power generation plants, fertilizer plants, petrochemicals and export.

“Further investment opportunities are also available in the licencing rounds, which would be conducted more frequently in line with the provisions of the PIA and the relevant regulations, seismic acquisition on a multi-client basis, development of deeper hydrocarbon opportunities, etc. Each of these areas provides a unique entry point for willing investors.

“Also in response to the dynamics of the energy transition and reduction in global carbon footprint, the Commission, as the country’s upstream petroleum regulator, has embarked on the development of a regulatory framework for carbon-pricing system, in line with the African carbon Markets Initiative (ACMI), as part of the efforts to shape and harness the potential of carbon markets in the upstream oil and gas sector in Nigeria.

“A new Department in the Commission, known as the “Energy Transition and Carbon Monetization”, is saddled with the responsibility of midwifing appropriate regulations and activities for the oil and gas upstream energy transition and carbon market.

“Consequently, industry stakeholders in Nigeria are increasingly embracing these climate action initiatives targeted at emissions reduction while ensuring that opportunities arising from the increasing demand for credit in the voluntary Carbon Markets do not elude them. More so, the ongoing pilot study on Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) projects in Nigeria is an important step in our decarbonisation journey.”

Continuing, he reassured interested investors that the implementation of the Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) provisions of the PIA has restored confidence and created a more cordial relationship between the host communities and the operators.

“The Commission, in carrying out its oversight roles, has registered ninety 90 HCDTs. In addition, the Commission has partnered with an OEM to develop an intelligent, digital, automated platform for reporting, monitoring and transparent administration of the HCDTs for sustainable operations in the Nigerian communities.”

The Commission Chief Executive pointed out that Nigeria as a country is suitably positioned to become a superpower in the unfolding energy transition given its population of over 200 million people and abundant energy sources to achieve the right energy mix.

He therefore rallied his colleagues in the oil and gas industry in the continent and globally to join forces in unlocking the vast opportunities for cleaner development and energy security; encouraging them with the words of Robert Redford, that “problems can become opportunities when the right people come together”.

PoliticsHow Tinubu Betrayed Kalu After Senate Presidency Offer - Tinubu's Supporter by Itopalucky(op): 4:24pm On Oct 12, 2023
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Mallam Yakubu has provoked a fresh controversy about President Bola Tinubu describing him as a traitor.

Yakubu, a strong ally and supporter of Tinubu, in a viral video, released on Thursday, recalled how the President reneged on his promise to make a former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu Senate President in the 9th National Assembly.

According to him, he was there in Kalu's house when Tinubu made the political promise but later went deceitful to betrayal his friend and political ally and pitched the tent of Senate Presidency with Godswill Akpabio.

The Zamfara APC chieftain and ally of Tinubu said it was not too late for the PO President to do the needful by ensuring that Kalu becomes the Senate President.

He said, "Yes, Good evening, this video is overdue. You see, most of us are politicians in this country and we cannot see the truth without talking. We have to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for all he has done in this country since he took over as the president in this country.

"But there are people he promised and he is fulfilling some of them and he is not fulfilling some of them. I was opportune to be in the house of a former Governor of Abia state, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu when his Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu came into the house and we all ate and drank.

"The Senator’s wife cooked for everyone of us that day, we ate good food that day and the President told him, 'please do not run for President, go back to run for Senate, I will make you Senate President.' Orji Kalu agreed and he ran for Senate.

"And today, Mr President is not fulfilling that promise. Most of the financial crisis we are having today, it is only Senator Orji Uzo Kalu who has the capacity and the experience to negotiate with the international communities, to negotiate with the local investors, to negotiate with every stakeholders and make sure every challenge we are having today to come to an end.

"Kalu has done his part, Tinubu should pay him back and the time for that Senate Presidency is now.

"Mr President needs somebody like Senator Orji Uzo Kalu, people think that as a young man, as a former Governor he has money, he cannot be controlled, he is not going to be loyal. No, Senator Orji Uzo Kalu is a very loyal person that I have opportunity to know very well, he is very loyal person.

"Mr President should remember when he was having problem with President Olusegun Obasanjo, how Senator Orji Uzo Kalu helped him to win his election in Lagos after 1999 election when he was coming in 2003. He was denied the right by President Obasanjo, it was only Orji Uzo Kalu who stood by him and he was the only Alliance for Democracy (AD) Governor who won the election at that time because Orji Uzo Kalu supported him.

"If today such man you said you are afraid of him, you cannot trust him with the Senate Presidency, who else will he trust? You need somebody that can build the country with you, you need a man that is highly influential internationally that can talk to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and talk to other international bodies for African investment to grow.

"We cannot be rich and be poor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working harder for growing this country and if you are working harder to grow this country, you need Senator Orji Uzo Kalu as the Senate President. He is very well known person, a very capacity person, someone who can go round with you, to make you get what you are looking for.

"My advice for Mr President is this: we all worked with you, I was a member of AD, I worked with you, I campaigned for you, we love you but we want you to keep that promise you made to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in his house, telling him to step down that he should not run for President, that you will give him senate President.

"Today you are not fulfilling the promise, I don’t want you to listen to any people telling you wrong thing about Orji Kalu; Orji Kalu is the only man that can grow this country with you Mr President Bola Ahmed Tinubu..We want you to review your stand on this matter, thank you very much Mr President."

PoliticsOkun Development Association (ODA) Declares Dino Melaye As Consensus Candidate by Itopalucky(op): 3:46pm On Oct 12, 2023
The Okun Development Association (ODA) recently held a crucial meeting on 1st July 2023 to discuss various agendas, with the focus primarily on the upcoming Kogi State governorship election in November. The meeting, attended by eleven members of the executive council, including a former Secretary General and their duly appointed replacement, proved to be a turning point for the Okun community.

Of all the topics discussed, the most significant was the proposition to put forth an Okun candidate for the governorship role in 2023. After careful deliberation and consideration of three suggested modalities, the executive council unanimously adopted one criterion, as proposed by the President, to assess the suitability of the candidates.

The criteria included factors such as financial capacity, competence, character, acceptability/public perception, responsiveness, antecedent/public service, political platform, and popularity. Each participant was then entrusted with the responsibility of rating the three individual candidates from Kogi West based on these yardsticks.

An elaborate voting process followed, and the only candidate who secured high scores in all the areas was Senator Dino Melaye. The weighted assessment showcased Melaye's financial capacity, competence, character, acceptability/public perception, responsiveness, antecedent/public service, political platform, and popularity, making him the apparent choice for the Okun community.

The results, revealed to the members as a percentage, was solely witnessed by the ODA President, who had access to the numerical figures and individual candidate scores. In the aftermath of the assessment, the President outlined the subsequent steps the ODA plans to undertake.

Firstly, the materials used for the evaluation, along with the assessed results, will be safely guarded by the Returning Officer. Secondly, the three candidates will be notified and invited to meet with the ODA executive council in Abuja at the earliest opportunity. Thirdly, it was decided that the ODA aims to engage all three candidates in a meaningful discussion leading to resolutions aligned with the outcome of the assessment. Lastly, the ODA intends to consult with various stakeholders regarding the decision made during the meeting.

With the endorsement of Senator Dino Melaye as the Okun Consensus Candidate for the November 2023 governorship election, the Okun Development Association has taken a significant stride towards realizing their aspirations. As the journey continues, the outcomes of this meeting are bound to shape the future political landscape in Kogi State.

Politics2023: N20m Endorsement Bribery Scandal Rocks Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF) by Itopalucky(op): 2:29pm On Oct 12, 2023
A crisis of confidence is rocking the plot by the Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF) to name one of the candidates in the November 11, 2023 governorship election from the Okun extraction as its consensus candidate.

Already, allegations are rife that the leadership of the KWEF as well as a few members have collected the sum of N20m in two tranches of
N10m each from a particular candidate.

According to informed members of KWEF, who have expressed their displeasure over the N20m bribe, the candidate, which the Forum collected the sum from, is yet to receive any prime rating of any groups from his Okun extraction.

The Liason Officer of the Okun Development Association (ODA) in Lokoja, Kogi State, Tunde Ibrahim, recently opened up on how the umbrella body of all Okun people arrived at the choice of a consensus candidate.

“The ODA Executive met and evaluate the three candidates on 1/7/2023. The result is still with the leadership of ODA to announce it to Okun Nation.

“We are asked to (give) time for possible step down amongst the candidates. Time is running out and not on our side.

“The massive crowds of yesterday (Tuesday) across Yagba is enough indication of where OKUN NATION is going,” Ibrahim stated on an opinion he expressed on Okun Patriots, a WhatsApp-based platform of Okun people.

Senator Dino Melaye had on Tuesday stormed Yagbaland where he was received by crowds of people in the three local government areas.

Ibrahim further revealed that “KWEF group met a few days ago. That their final report is about to be released.

“This is sequel to the recent happenings within Okun political scape. The (Hon Abiodun) Faleke decision that suppose to be a personal one is viewed as having a serious negative impact in certain quarter.

“There's a desperate need to safe or prop up the political camp of their benefactor. Hence, they met and decided to make their biased result known. We are watching and waiting. Nobody is going to throw more span to natural selection taking place now within Okun Nation.

“All discerning people know where Okun Nation put their trust. All these political consultants must not be allowed to get away with their attempts at manipulation of our decision,” Ibrahim further asserted.

Many members of the KWEF have distanced themselves from the proposed meeting scheduled to hold anytime soon saying they “will not allow those who have put themselves together to work against Kogi West interest to tarnish their image.”

Meanwhile, groups like Okun Think Thank as well as Kogi West&Central
which had earlier endorsed Senator Dino Melaye for the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

Suspicion is rife that the leadership of KWEF, which endorsed Yahaya Bello for a second term, are believed to be in covert understanding to use the procured endorsement as a tool to break the votes in the West to the advantage of Yahaya Bello's puppet, Ododo Ahmed Usman.

According to insiders, the decision on whom to support would have been finalised long ago, but the KWEF, who are dominated by retired military officers, kept shifting the goal post to preserve their hidden agenda.

PoliticsCSU Certificate Saga: Igbo Group Tells Peter Obi To Stop Insulting Nigerians by Itopalucky(op): 10:07am On Oct 12, 2023
.....expresses support for Tinubu

Igbo sociopolitical group, the Omalegwuoku Progressive Initiative/Igbo Kwenu for Asiwaju-Shettima has asked the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party LP, Mr Peter Obi to stop insulting Nigerians by challenging President Bola Tinubu to come clean on his identity.

Global President of the group and a commissioner with the Federal Character Commission FCC, Ambassador Ginika F. Tor, at a news conference Wednesday in Abuja said what the president owes Nigerians is to take them to their destinations.

She said; “I had already put up my speech and suddenly I realized that my own brother who I respect so much, Peter Obi, who is also the Presidential Candidate of Labour party, came up on television to say that our president, a man who is the Number One man in this country should come out and explain his state. So, by now, a man who served eight years as a governor, you don’t know his state? He should tell us his background educationally? Is that right?

“It is an insult to Nigeria as a nation for you to call out our president who was massively supported, elected, confirmed and validated as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to come and stand before who? To say he is from this state, from this country, from this region, from this locality? Does he owe us that? What the President owes us now is to take us to our destination of choice.

“So, I am disappointed in a man who I respected so much, my brother, who stood in front to run for Igbos. It may not be his turn now, but it could come in future. But whatever he does now is going to play out in the future. So let us be cautious and let all Igbos not be misled by this press interview that our own brother granted.

“We are telling our brother, Obi, calm down, if God wanted you to be there, He would have made you the President. He did not. There is a lot of distraction on this President. Are you not bothered with the issues around the world?”, She queried.

She said while President Tinubu had immediately averted his mind to developmental issues, it became obvious that opposition elements were deliberately trying to distract him.

She said; “The PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar who appears to still be suffering from a severe post-election loss trauma and a near-presidency syndrome following his defeat at the polls on his fifth presidential contest, has suddenly realized that his dream of being President of this country which seemed so close in 2003 was again a mirage in 2023.

“His post-election trauma ballooned following the unsuccessful prosecution of his brief by his legal team at the PEPT, where they filed a petition lacking in substance and direction. Like someone who woke up from a terrible nightmare, Atiku commissioned a fishing expedition to Chicago State University on a wild goose chase for President Bola Tinubu’s certificate. They started by saying President Bola Tinubu did not attend CSU and when CSU confirmed repeatedly that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was their student and graduated with honours in 1979, they changed lane and started accusing President Bola Tinubu of submitting a fake certificate to INEC in 2022.

“Atiku Abubakar’s inordinate quest to malign the integrity of Mr. President also amounts to destroying or tarnishing the image of Nigeria before the international community all in a bid to perpetuate a lie and make people believe that President Bola Tinubu submitted forged certificate to INEC.

“In the past four months, the Tinubu administration is systematically laying the ground work for a very prosperous Nigeria where the fruits of prosperity will percolate through the grassroot to the common man. The process may be thorny and harsh, but the destination will bring lasting relief and sustainable prosperity for all.

“We equally want to appeal to the President to continue to be meticulous in transforming the national trajectory of Nigeria both in terms of economy, security and political inclusion. On this note we call on Mr. President to equally find a way to include many competent progressives who share his development ideology and also worked tirelessly to help enthrone this government. Giving these categories of people the opportunity to serve in different capacities will be the surest way of quickly attaining the targets contained in his Renewed Hope vision since they are co-owners of the Renewed Hope Agenda”, she added.

PoliticsFrank To US, EU, AU, UK To Tell Tinubu To Vacate Office Over Forged Certificate by Itopalucky(op): 4:45pm On Oct 04, 2023
Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on members of the international community especially the EU, US, UK and ECOWAS to prevail on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to vacate office over certificate forgery.

The authorities of the Chicago State University (CSU) had on Wednesday agreed under oath that a certain person named "Bola. A. Tinubu" attended the school but denied issuing the diploma Certificate he, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu that contested elections in Nigeria presented to INEC that is purported to have been issued by the school. The CSU documents revealed fake admission entry results used by a certain Bola A. Tinubu, with a GCE purportedly obtained from Government College Lagos 1970 and South West College Illinois. The former was not in existence in 1970 but established in 1974 and the latter certificate in the United States contains particulars of a female including her Social Security Number. Nigerians will recall that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu that contested elections in Nigeria has social security number in the documents of his Narcotics conviction in Chicago which are at variance and materially different from those presented by CSU belonging to the Bola A Tinubu that attended CSU. Is it therefore possible for a U.S Resident or citizen to have two social security numbers?

*Date of birth conflict: The CSU transcripts also carries as date of birth the date, 29 March 1954. Tinubu's submission to INEC is 29 March 1952. This clearly shows that he lied to INEC under oath (Perjury) by the authority of the CSU papers.*

Hence the pre-requisite admission documents submitted to CSU by the said Tinubu that attended their institution, contains information at variance with those presented to INEC by the Bola Tinubu that contested Elections in Nigeria at various times, indicating serial events of forgery and dishonesty both in Nigeria and abroad.

Frank noted that by the revelation that Tinubu apparently forged the certificate presented to INEC, he is constitutionally not fit to remain as President of Nigeria.

He said now that it has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that Tinubu forged the certificate with which he contested the Presidential election in February 25, 2023, he is duty bound to vacate office as provided for in section 137(1)(j) of the constitution which stipulates that no one would be legitimately elected as President of Nigeria if the person has “presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission.” A constitutional matter with very grave implications.

He added: “So we call on lovers of democracy, former Presidents, Rtd Justices of Supreme Court, traditional rulers, Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, National Association of Nigerian Students, Nigeria Medical Association, Nigerian Bar Association and Civil Society Organizations to prepare for mass action to ensure that Tinubu vacates office as President. This is the last opportunity to take back our country from the gang of criminals who have hijacked the country.

“We also call on the authorities of ECOWAS to ask him to vacate the office of the chairman, otherwise, every decision that ECOWAS will take under his leadership will be null and void and will not be respected.

“Under his leadership, ECOWAS will not have credibility to speak on major issues in the continent including the coup in Niger, among others, since his legitimacy has now been eroded by reason of an established act of forgery.

“He can no longer and must not be allowed to proceed as ECOWAS chairman or engage in negotiation on behalf of ECOWAS because it will not be legitimate.”

Frank who is the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and Middle East, insisted that Tinubu needs to vacate office as President of Nigeria because remaining there will continue to set the country back. His actions negate democratic standards and charters to which Nigeria, Ecowas and all AU members subscribe.

“No investor would want to come to a country where its president has been confirmed to be a certificate forger. The present image of the President would continue to militate against the nation’s economic growth until he vacates office to save Nigeria from continuous embarrassment.

“We want to believe that the Supreme Court justices that will hear the appeal on the disputed Presidential election outcome are Nigerians and that they are not from either South Africa or any other country.

“So it is their duty to give vent to the constitutional provision that any body who lies on oath is guilty of a criminal offence and hence cannot hold any public office in the country. A president that forged, his certificate is not fit and proper to remain in office as President.

“There is no room for any technicality at this point in time as is often the case because Nigerians and the world are watching our judiciary to see if they would prove to be men of integrity.

“The judges who sat in America to give Nigeria this landmark judgement that revealed that our president forged his certificate, are clear examples that the judiciary is meant to protect the interests of the Law and the common man and not for judges to protect their own selfish interests, their pockets or give justice to the highest bidder.

“Any decision that the Supreme Court takes right now will either make or mar our democracy.” Frank said.
