cuttingedge: Good evening all, I finally got an offer from Southern Illinois University for my Ph.D. That includes a full tuition waiver and Graduate Assistantship. My wife also got the same offer from the same university. How do we go about applying for Visas? Do we apply individually for F1 visas? We have a one-year-old child. You guys should apply individually since F2 visa holders can only study part-time in the US and I believe your GA was given to both of you because you applied for Full-time study. Except one of you wants to dropout. |

Pls I need your advice? You have your answer already. Your chances of securing the visa are 50-50. If you are willing to start your classes online and can afford the tuition, I don't think you need my advice on this. |

chizara85: Hello Gurus pls I need your advise :
1: My school is resuming on the 12th of January and my visa interview is on the 14th of January, my school said they cannot update my I-20 to reflect a late arrival but can only send a supporting document of late arrival separate from the 1-20. Is it going to be accepted at the embassy ?
2: My school fees deadline is on the 11th of January few days before my visa interview . Is it advisable to make payment before getting the visa and if yes can I pay school fees through western union payment solutions from Nigeria?
3: Is anyone going to Sam Houston State University this spring or fall? Are you willing to start online classes? |

I have problems converting the cgpa to 4.0 on their website as it is asking for credit hours. Etc and I don’t even understand. Please just assume you’re explaining to a 10 year old… help me please Plus I have my masters… do I have to evaluate both or just my highest degree? Thank you in anticipation I think your CGPA divide by 5.0 times 4.0 will give you an idea of your GPA on a 4.0 scale but WES usually goes higher with a +0.1 |

laddyboss: Pls my school resumes on Jan 18th and I just got my emergency interview application approved for Jan 18th. Pls any advice on what to do I think you need to write to your school and seek their approval that you will be resuming late, state the reason why, and seek a letter of approval so you can go with it to your interview. But if you haven't selected the 18th of January then wait, you might see a closer date. |

Visa denied at the Abuja Embassy. November 23rd. It seems the two white male VO always ask about traveling history. VO: White American (not the Asian Dude) VO:Have you traveled out of Nigeria before? VO:Why did you choose this program(MBA)? VO:Who is paying for your trip? VO: Take this blue paper for the road.
Observation: It seems once they ask that first question about traveling history, they have already made up their mind about the outcome of the interview. |

Why is it taking forever for emergency request to be granted?
Is there any way I can follow up or I just have to keep waiting for their response? I applied yesterday and I was approved today (Abuja) but my problem is the available date is quite late for me. (Jan 12) I don't know if it is possible to hang on for a closer date. |
