**IGBOS AS WILLING TOOLS TO SABOTAGE DEMOCRACY AND THE STRATEGIC INTERESTS OF FELLOW IGBOS** Igbo political figures have, at various times, undermined both Nigeria's democratic progress and the strategic interests of our people for personal gain or on behalf of external forces. Self-sabotage and the "enemy within" appear to be manifesting once again as we approach the 2027 elections. The Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and by extension Mr. Peter Obi's candidacy, indicates that Mr. Emmanuel Uzowuru, the pro tem Legal Adviser of the unregistered association, Peace Movement Party, represented by Mr. Ekeocha, Esq. (both Igbos), was involved in the present attempt to scuttle Peter Obi's ambition. These are not Fulanis bearing Igbo names. 💔💔 We are often our own worst enemies. Also, Hon. Nnanna Igbokwe, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Ahiazu Federal Constituency, Imo State, obtained a judgment that deregistered some political parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in what Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu has described as "Lifusprudence." Historians and political commentators have often cited examples of Igbos being used as willing tools to undermine democracy and, ultimately, Igbo interests. One such example is Chief Arthur Nzeribe, who was widely described as a proxy for military ruler General Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) in the campaign to frustrate the return to civilian rule through the Association for Better Nigeria (ABN). Nzeribe obtained a controversial midnight court injunction from Justice Bassey Ikpeme to halt the election, providing the military regime with the legal pretext it relied upon to annul Chief M.K.O. Abiola's June 12 election victory. Many Igbos were reportedly killed and properties destroyed during the "Oso Abiola" episode, loosely translated as the exodus of Igbos from Western Nigeria. There has also been public commentary alleging that Nzeribe, despite being Igbo, supplied weapons and military hardware to the Federal Military Government under General Yakubu Gowon. In 1998, the government-backed "Two Million Man March" was held in Abuja. The rally was spearheaded by the group Youth Earnestly Ask for Abacha (YEAA), under the leadership of Daniel Kanu, to urge military ruler General Sani Abacha to transform himself into a civilian president. Chief Jim Nwobodo has also been accused of undermining Dr. Alex Ekwueme at the 1999 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential convention in Jos. Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Chairman of the G-34 and a founding father of the PDP, was the leading presidential aspirant from the South-East at the time. According to widely circulated political accounts, Nwobodo, alongside other South-East politicians, including Rochas Okorocha, appealed to Northern delegates by speaking Hausa and allegedly worked against Ekwueme's candidacy in favour of Olusegun Obasanjo. In 2019, key PDP leaders from the South-East reportedly opposed the emergence of Mr. Peter Obi as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar's running mate. The 2023 presidential election was no different, as Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and Engr. Dave Umahi became some of the most prominent critics of Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, and have continued their criticism to date. Within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Dumebi Kachikwu is leading legal and political opposition against former Senate President David Mark and, by extension, the political ambitions of Atiku Abubakar. Igbo leadership has long been criticised for lacking the internal cohesion displayed by some other major ethnic groups in Nigeria. Regrettably, internal power struggles, the absence of a unified electoral strategy, and the "pull-him-down" syndrome among segments of our political and business elite have prevented us from fully asserting our political influence in Nigeria. Ndigbo, when will enough truly be enough? **To thine own self be true.** **Heavens Agwunobi, Esq.**

ProU Education, Africa’s higher learning institution and early career management platform, has announced that its entire Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) study suite will be accessible for free throughout February on the ProU App for the first 100,000 students. In a statement, Founder of ProU Education, Dr Piyush Jain, said the initiative would alleviate the pressure on parents and students preparing for the 2024 UTME. He said the App aligns with the JAMB curriculum, adding that it reports over 3000 daily learners, offering 1000+ hours of video tutorials across subjects of Science, Social Studies, and Languages, along with 10,000+ mock questions with answers for free. Jain said ProU’s mission is to improve access to quality and affordable education in Nigeria. He noted that the app offers a user-friendly interface, enabling seamless navigation and allowing students to study at their own pace, anytime and anywhere. He said, “Since 2020, more than 1.5 million students fail the UTME exam annually, with about 65 per cent of students who write the exam unable to secure university admissions. “Additionally, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that Nigeria’s inflation rate rose to 28.92 per cent in December, marking its highest in more than 27 years. “Hence, for a limited period in February, the ProU App is extending free access to the first 100,000 students who sign up to study. This opportunity should not be missed for those looking to supercharge their UTME preparation. Students should access Prouapp.com/jamb to study.” Ngozi Eze, a student in Abuja, said: “ProU App deserves my thanks. University admissions are competitive, but ProU’s UTME Prep is giving me the edge. Their mock exams and feedback pinpointed my weak spots. I feel super ready. ProU made a real impact.” https://independent.ng/prou-provides-free-utme-tutorials-for-students

AKPURUKA N'ORLU: THE MAN THAT WILL BECOME A SENATOR IN THE 10TH REPUBLIC. On the eve of the submission of the expression of interest form to the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) for purposes of contesting the Imo West Senatorial District, the man who spent three decades propagating and protecting Ndigbo interests and serving the greater glory of Ndi Orlu as a founder of Obigbo, a social-political association attended an event in the Imo State capital of Owerri where he became the issue of profound admiration. Ever since his confirmation as the candidate of the Labour Party a few months ago, the Ihioma-born Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize ( Akpuruka N'Orlu ) has become the center of attention from the key players and watchers of Imo State politics. Akpuruka N'Orlu is a delightful socialite and activist, and entrepreneur. A happy grandfather, and a compassionate, dependable, humble, and God-fearing personality. Attending public events is his turf, therefore, not a difficult act for the camera, especially on the campaign trail. In the early days of the campaign, not a few candidates in the race dismissed him as being a proxy distraction from Douglas House. But those in the know of Chief Ahize likened him to Tolstoy's "War and Peace" who drove Napoleon out of France and then beat him all the way back to Paris. Many of the voters believe that Chief Ahize has the capacity, contacts, and courage to restore Orlu Nation's dignity and pride. The symbolism of the various endorsements by political, social, economic, and professional groups across Imo West senatorial district was not lost to anyone paying attention to Orlu zone politics. Orlu senatorial zone is once again in dire need of recovery. And in the past weeks, Chief Charles Ahize and almost certain successor to Owelle Ndigbo, Senator Rochas Okorocha after the February 25th, 2023 elections has been sending a not-so-subtle signal that he is the man for the job hence the deliberate escalation of misinformation, disinformation, and mischievous propaganda against his candidacy. Fortunately, there has been another installment of a quietly powerful image campaign that began when INEC lifted the restrictions on political campaigns. It has been crafted by a team of professionals now surrounding him. But it springs ultimately from Akpuruka N'Orlu himself—from who he is, friends, say, and what he believes. He is accessible, kindhearted, humble, and accepts advice. Chief Ahize plucked the Labour Party ticket from the redeeming ecclesiastical beatitude for the national rebirth being propelled by the ObiDatti Movement at the time that notion seemed faintly comical. Until then, the candidate of the ruling APC was steamrollering to the red chambers for the second time. Akpuruka N'Orlu's popularity rating was 40% in October. The lanky wiry bald man with a hard face and piercing eyes seemed destined to be just another contestant in the making. How wrong that was. As far as Ndi Orlu are concerned, Akpuruka N'Orlu has not set foot wrong since becoming the senatorial candidate of the Labour Party. His appeal is plain enough. He is tough, sociable, competent, and humble. Imo West Senatorial District has embraced his biography. The Oru axis of Orlu zone presently occupies the governorship position in the person of HE. Sen. Hope Uzodimma ( Onwa Oyoko ). Therefore, the senatorial seat should be zoned to Orlu or Nkwerre axis of Imo State for purposes of equity and fairness. Ideato Nation is occupying the current 9th Republic. For better, Chief Ahize has become the man of the moment precisely because of who he is. Akpuruka N'Orlu is disciplined and meticulous, a back-slapping populist, and a consummate socialite. Akpuruka N'Orlu is gregarious and can be as icy as he looks. While some other candidates are notorious for their (put it mildly) unhealthy lifestyle, Chief Ahize is a health fanatic. He likes nothing better than to take a long open-air walk and he frequently squeezes in time to indulge in his passion for the gym. Akpuruka N'Orlu is anti-establishment in an additional, politically important sense. During his rise as the founder of Obigbo, he committed himself to champion Igbo causes. He made a career in the entertainment and automotive industries when it was a very attractive proposition to run a nightclub in the then nation's capital Lagos. There are not many Igbos who hold that business choice against him. Chief Ahize was no star, either academically or professionally beyond a law degree from the University of Lagos. But hard work, unswerving loyalty, empathy for his friends, and a basic competence have served him well. Better, indeed, than anyone could have expected. Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize has succinctly captured his legislative agenda tagged "Solemn Legislative Agenda With My People of Imo West Senatorial District" which addressed the fundamentals of representation in the red chambers. I recommend that you read it. Vote Wisely, Vote for Labour Party. It is POssible Chidiebere Heavens Agwunobi Esq.

IMAGINE IF THE FUNERAL SERVICE OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II WAS HELD AT THE ASSUMPTA CATHEDRAL, OWERRI, IMO STATE. The dignitaries will come to the event late, especially political office holders. The Bishop's sermon will be intermittently disrupted as extinguished and dishonorable office holders, sorry, distinguished, and honourable politicians will stroll in to take the front pews. The Bishop will have a herculean task to maintain protocol and call out the names of the dignitaries and proxy representatives without incurring the repercussions associated with the cardinal sin of omitting the earned and borrowed titles. The security details and other aides of the 'constituted authority' will block the views of other guests and mourners seated behind as they exhibit sycophantic traits of allegiance. The funeral service will provide opportunities for the church to raise funds and or use the pulpit to settle political and religious scores. There are likely to be disagreements on who should be allowed to speak and in the order of speaking in the church. In dramatic and sensational ways, the funeral event will turn the church more into a political rally than a worship centre. The altar boys at the church would have to wrestle the protocol team of the government from mounting the podium bearing the official seals. The delivery of the vote of thanks will likely elicit another controversy between the supporters of the government claiming it was a State funeral and the members of the deceased queen's family. The side-chicks of Prince William and Harry, and other government officials will dress as protocol staff or escorts to have access to them even in somber moments of worship. There will be different screaming colors and designs of 'asoebi', head gears, and hats. The newest models of iPhone and Android will be on display with intermittent loud ring-outs. The pen merchants and television crew members at the event will seek gratification to publish and broadcast names and images of guests in their reportage. In all of the vanity, many will forget the admonition in Ecclesiastes 7:2-4 "It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for that is the end of all men; and the living will take it to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, for by a sad countenance the heart is made better. The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth" (Ecclesiastes 7:2-4). May the souls of the departed rest in peace ✌️ Chidiebere Heavens Agwunobi Esq.

A civil servant, Richard Oghenerhoro, is set to face disciplinary action for uncovering fake employment in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing in Abuja and making his finding public. The whistleblower was found guilty of misconduct, breach of oath of secrecy, unauthorised disclosure of official information and copying of official documents, contrary to the provisions of the Public Service Rules. The rule recommended termination of appointment or forced retirement for the offences. This is as four other officials in the ministry are set to be re-deployed over documentation and enrolment of the officers uncovered by Oghenerhoro into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System platform. All the recommendations were contained in the report of the investigative panel obtained by our correspondents. The committee, headed by a senior official of the ministry, Rufus-Ebegba Immaculata, submitted its report to the office of the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola. The PUNCH reports that the committee was constituted following the receipt of Oghenerhoro’s petition dated July 22, 2020. https://punchng.com/fake-employment-panel-recommends-whistleblowers-sacking/?amp
