Good evening sir/ma
Pls sir/ma,I want to send my documents for legalisation but I’m a bit confused about the payment for legislation. Is the payment per pages or per document?? For example, my attestation of birth has receipt, original and remita. Am I to pay for each or it’s combined together as one document??
Thank you

You will pay as a single document and don't forget you have to authenticate it at the National Population Commission first and attach the remita receipt for the authentication.

Hey, thanks for your response! How recent was this for you? I know in 2019 when I first applied for the D visa for my master's, it was a helluva lot faster! Now, I'm back to apply for a work permit (even with a letter from my employer enclosed in the docs with my PCC), and it's taking forever to just affix a stamp/seal on ONE document!

You mentioned you also recently legalized your marriage and birth certificates; what visa or residence status are you applying for? I'm looking to connect with others that are NOT applying for the D visa for studies, i.e., looking to connect with others applying for more permanent migration purposes (hope that makes sense).

PS: Just a cautionary tale to all the master's hopefuls here: administrative procedures in Belgium are AGONIZINGLY SLOW. So, prepare yourselves and work on your patience, because that country will test it over and over again.

Well you are in luck, i am also applying for the D visa for work purposes. I received my Annex 46 on the 19th of this month and will be submitting my application on the 3rd of August.

Hey, guys!

I saw on previous pages on this thread, where a Twitter thread with a WhatsApp group for those awaiting legalization of their documents was linked. However, the link is defective. Can someone please share a current link to join the WhatsApp group?

Or, if you have recently received your LEGALIZED document(s) back from the Belgian embassy in Abuja, how long did the entire process take? My PCC has been at the embassy since the 29th of June. I've called the embassy twice, but haven't been able to get any meaningful insight(s) as to when my PCC will be ready.

PS: I'm NOT talking about authentication at the MoFA. I'm strictly talking about the legalization process at the embassy.

PPS: Is there any thread or group for people applying for a single (i.e., work + residence) permit? I understand this thread is for those applying for a study (D) visa.

Thanks!
For PCC when i submitted it comes back the second week after the week i submitted it. E.g I submitted in Week A, it is processed and closed the next Friday after the week it is submitted and they send it back via courier the second week. However for my marriage certificate and
birth certificate, it took nearly a month before it was legalized
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Is A Nigerian Salary Earner Of 500k Per Month Considered Rich? by iyb(m): 2:00pm On May 26, 2022
ObosiUkwalla:
So I was arguing with a friend who stays in the states and he keeps saying I am a rich guy.

Current salary is about 512k per month (take home), and has an annual increment of 15% of your take home. This is aside perks of perdiem anytime I travel outside work base (15k per night).

Anytime he wants me to have minor something done in NG on his bahalf, he expects me to use my money and whenever I ask, he tells me not to complain that I am rich (he knows what I earn), I don't have a problem doing those things for him.

I don't see myself rich and pls guys, what can someone earn in Nigeria to be termed rich. Your opinions will count alot as I still find it hard getting the usual daily stuffs we all use.
I am not married and do not have responsibilities. My mom is a retired govt worker and other siblings are all working.

Cc: seun mynd44 pls help us for more audience and opinions
This is a good salary by Nigerian standards only the really high paying federal parastatals, NGOs and multinationals pay such. Based on you calling per diem shows you are in the humanitarian sector but even in the humanitarian sector that is a good salary cos those working for french NGOs don't earn anything close to this amount

Travel / Re: Which Is A Better Place To Reside In, Lekki Or Victoria Island? by iyb(m): 12:06am On Jan 14, 2022
Kellzzyy:
Dear Nairaland members, I'm in a fix and will appreciate a detailed, honest review of these two areas.
Let's say the cost of living isn't much of an issue, which of these two areas will be a better place to reside in.

Generally, I'd want your reviews to be based on the following metrics:
-Standard of living
-Security and safety
-Access to ultra modern Infrastructure
-Best place to raise a family
-Nice, modern houses (price range:150 to 250M)
-Best place for someone to buy and drive luxury cars (Porsche, Maserati, Rolls Royce, etc) without fear of armed robbers or being targeted for kidnapping.
-Rich neighbourhood with well-to-do neighbours.

I hear Victoria Island is more commercial (better infrastructure), while Lekki is more residential (better Houses), but I don't know how true that is and what to make of it.

In short, I'm looking for where I could get something close to European standards of living.

Thanks as I anticipate your responses.

Lalasticlala, help me out please.
Victoria Island is better has less traffic when commuting to work and doesn't flood like lekki
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 200k A Month In Abuja Vs 300k A Month In Lagos by iyb(m): 4:53pm On Jan 06, 2022
Oseigha:
Dear Nairalanders.
I currently have two job offers on the table. One is in Abuja and the pay is about N200,000 a month, while the other is in Lagos and the pay is about N300,000. I am presently based in Abuja and have never stayed in Lagos. I only visited on occasions. The Lagos offer is tempting but I am kind of apprehensive about relocating there because of the challenges that come with staying in Lagos.
Please I need your inputs. Which would you rather choose, the Lagos offer or the Abuja one?
Serious suggestions only please!
Guy avoid lagos at all cost, rent is cheaper in Abuja and you get better quality houses in Abuja compared to Lagos, Food is cheaper in Abuja and transport is also cheaper. Choose Abuja for your health and safety

It’s easy, all emu graduates are issued alumni email address and you can easily use this email to request for that. If you did not activate this email, You have two options:

1. Direct option: Fill the WES form with all the details, sign it and email it to the registrar office. There is a person that handles this; they will tell you how much it cost for official transcript and how much to post it to WES and means of payment. So go ahead and pay; ensure you ask when it will be sent and if there are any tracking (generally they used normal post office for cheapest option which cost less but you may request them use MNG OR Aras Kargo which is faster but more expensive).

You may first contact the registration office via email first for the procedure to request your transcript and send to WES; they may already have a template and procedure to take.

2. Indirect option: if you still have a friend or someone you know at EMU; send the filled WES form to them person; email EMU registrar office and copied the friend email. Let the person follow up for WES transcript sending; this may be faster but may be expensive if you are to pay the person for follow up.

Generally EMU is fast and already be doing this process for ages so you won’t have issues with that.

When I did mine in 2015, I used MNG kargo to WES Canada it cost me 50$ and arrived 4 days after and emu charged 100 TL for official transcript then. Now transcript might have increased to 150 TL (am unsure) and MNG kargo is around 70$ to Canada/USA as of 2 months ago while post office will cost just 30 TL and takes 15-30 days to arrive.

Thank You very much Prof, i really appreciate this response i will use the direct option since all those i know have already graduated from EMU. Once again thank you

Prof @wip7 good day hope you are doing well. I have a small question don't know if you have a solution for me, I am graduate of EMU and wish to have my credentials evaluated by WES. Please do you know how one can request for his official transcripts and diploma supplement to be forwarded to WES if the person is no longer in TRNC.
Thank You

Southerners never fail to hide their hatred for northerners every slight thing becomes an opportunity to insult the north. Southerners also do drugs far worse than even the north, who are the ones known for producing and selling drugs?
The hypocrisy of southerners is appalling and their naivety disturbing, say what you want but I know that they are far more drug addicts in the south.

Real men impregnate so that the marriage rites would be cut down. In the Ibo culture where brideprice could be mind boggling, a proper and adequate short cut is to impregnate the babe and see you marry her in credit.

Then your in-laws would tell you to come perform the rites with the little yiu have, maybe later as things improve, you can now balance up grin

Being able to read in your dialect isn't literacy. I believe the Igbos and Yorubas also had their means of communication which was as well in their dialect but at that era most Yorubas and Igbos like the likes of Awolowo and Akintola got Western Education while the Northerners were busy plotting coup upon coup. The Northern central system of leadership was just another factor that made Lugard's direct rule system strive in the North, followed by their illiteracy. It has never been recorded that the Northerners were more literate than any region in Nigeria. Ever!.
Northerners could read and write before the British but southerners couldn't. I don't get why southerners find it hard to.believe that without the British missionary schools they won't be educated as a matter of fact the north was the more enlightened part of Nigeria. Let's not forget the only thing southerners know how to do at that time was to sell their people for pieces of trinkets mirrors and beads hence the reason why the Caribbeans ,south America and north America are littered with people that have the blood of southern Nigeria
