SportsRe: Nigeria (4) Wallops Belgium (1) In 2008 Olympics Semi-Final by Iyineda(m): 3:19am On Aug 19, 2008
I personally see a game that Nigeria will dominate. The "Dream Team IV" will have higher possession of the ball and the Belgians will do the counter-attacking. All I fear is either Nigeria conceeds too many set-pieces (higher chances of Belgium scoring), either the game remains goalless after extra-time, resulting in penalty shoot-outs,  undecided

That said, NAIJA STILL HEADS TO THE FINAL !! cool

PS: I beg wetin be the name of this guy that plays like Jay-Jay? He played for the u-17 that won the cup?
shocked Wow
I do not remember seeing any player on the pitch with skills close to those Jay-Jay had. Maybe you're talking about Obasi, the n° 7. He was 'aite. But he lacks experience. My favorite player in the squad is Peter Osaze Odemwingie. I want him to shine more !! cheesy

@ yommys01 :
YOU should get your facts right. Nigeria tops the group with 7 points. The Netherlands follow with 5 points. And the US stops at 4. wink
SportsRe: Beijing 2008 Olympics Football Event: Men by Iyineda(m): 11:57am On Aug 13, 2008
Why were our players so nonchalent ? Like they didn't care if they conceeded a goal or not. Vanzekin, the HELL was he thinking ?!!!!!! angry
I'm not impressed at all. They have the talent (who ever doubted ?) but certainly not the spirit nor the attitude. I am really pissed. Really.
SportsRe: Beijing 2008 Olympics Football Event: Men by Iyineda(m): 10:51am On Aug 13, 2008
I didn't even know the US team was one-man down (red card after 4 min shocked). I started the match around the fifteenth min. We better get a second goal, or else, angry

SportsRe: Beijing 2008 Olympics Football Event: Men by Iyineda(m): 11:24am On Aug 12, 2008
Mehn, I know there's a topic about the true ages of Nigerian footballers but, really, how old is Promise Isaac ? The number 10 of this olympic squad ? He looks older than my dad, meaning he is close to his fifties !!!!!! Osaze is the only player with his real age on the pitch. He is 27 but still looks (much) younger than those who claim to be under 23. Pfff,  angry
SportsRe: Beijing 2008 Olympics Football Event: Men by Iyineda(m): 2:20pm On Aug 11, 2008
From what I've seen through the results in these oplympics - 'haven't managed to watch any game yet - CIV seem to be a far bigger threat to the Eaglet's defence than Argentina. Did you see how CIV schooled Serbia ? The Argentines managed to score only one goal against the Aussies.

Now don't get me wrong, Argentina will be a tough side to play, no doubt. They will completely out-play the Nigerians in the midfield (Gago, Riquelme, Lavezzi, not to mention Messi). Nevertheless, I feel we (Nigerians) could manage to take advantage of our physique. Stamina in such a level is a key to success. And luckily for us, Nigeria looks stronger in that realm. wink

Anyway, I just feel the Ivorians will do whatever it takes to defeat "Le Géant d'Afrique" as they dub Nigeria over there. They will be more motivated in that feat than the Argies. But before even thinking of who we will face, let us beat the US and qualify securely. smiley

I wouldn't mind being locked in an elevator with Rama Yade, France's Secretary of State in charge of foreign affairs and human rights. Beautiful and brainy, what else ? cool

Funny thread. grin
My father once said that : if Ogbeche (ex-Paris St Germain) claimed he was 19 years old back then, well, his son - me, of course - could claim his is about 8 years old ! At that time, I was 18. tongue

I also ROLFed when an elderly lady asked Oruma (Marseille) to admit he is barely younger than she is (I'll have given her roughly 55 years) on the club's tv channel. lipsrsealed Ouch !
