striktlymi: Good morning,I stopped reading there. I cannot take OP seriously when in the thread title he writes something about others thinking they are "smart" yet in his first sentence puts the English language to shame. |
Ihedinobi: Ok. What superior entities? And what do you mean when you say you believe in them? The term "superior entities" is vague. I don't know exactly how to explain myself on that one. An agnostic is a skeptic by nature. He/she believes in what they see, things that are intelligible, that make sense in their limited understanding of life. I cannot stand here and say: "God does not exist". But I can say "I don't believe in the holy scriptures called the Bible, the Torah or the Quran. Those scriptures are intelligible enough for me to give my opinion because they are interpreted with words that I can grasp. So I choose to believe... or not to. Science is the closest thing to "God" in the way I understand life today because it has given me far more facts and clues about my existence than any other medium. But I say closest because I know that science does not (yet) have all the answers. I say "yet" to an extent because science, like humanity, keeps developping, progressing in knowledge and awareness. So we could imagine that some day, we could get all our answers through science. But I am not telling anyone to hold their breaths. ![]() |
On my facebook, my religious views status reads "Agnostic". I could care less what others could think, especially facebook friends. I have already confronted my family on this, especially my overly religious mother and maternal grand-mother. My father is more understanding and doesn't bother me with such in spite the fact that he is clearly a man of faith. Anyway, once you are comfortable with who you are and what you believe in, then there should be no problem with showing it publicly. I remember not too long ago at a family reunion, one of my aunts asked me to pray in front of everyone in the room. Immediately after her request, my mother gave her this look as in "never ask him to pray", almost like a warning. I was not going to anyway. I'm just glad my mother helped me resolve the issue more swiftly and less awkwardly. |
Neddivine: Nonsense. You watch porn, support gay relationship or probably gay yourself, maybe you support bestiality and child porn (cos u atheists have no standard). You are free to fight, kill, seduce, steal and all what not and at the end u give a needy person a helping hand and score/applaud yourself as of good morals.U'll realise too late that there's hardly any true morals outside christ & that christianity(not judaism) among many religions have the highest standard of righteousness even if majority of followers do not adhere to them.I don't regard the evil replies of atheists & only answer them when I deem it necessary. It's people like you who make me feel relieved that I no longer identify myself as a Christian or a religious person. Just incredible... |
Lol OP. I refute the title of this thread simply because I am what you call an agnostic and I sure as hell do NOT believe in a god. Superior entities, maybe. But God the way "He" is described in so-called holy scriptures, no. I was raised a Christian (Anglican and Cross-bearer). Events in life have led me to believe (or not to believe) in some things. What I am sure of is that religion is one of the things that brings the worst out of humanity. I have nothing against faith, but once said faith is institutionalized and dogmatized, I see it as a tool to manipulate the simple-minded. I am not even going to talk about refuting some events that are said to have occured in the "holy" scriptures such as the Bible. I just can't take people seriously when they strongly believe Man was made out of sand. Just like that... |
CGKing: Mr ingullible disgullible. So he was not handpicked by a...? And u know this because...? Can u prove he wasn't?! Don't weep just explainLet me break it down for you: - TBJ's followers are giving him more power and importance than he deserves as a so-called Man of God; - Prayers and miracles have apparently made him a billionaire and a politically-prominent figure in this country, but I doubt that's how the Bible describes what Men of God are supposed to be like; - His prophecies are never specific and are always open/vague in the case it does not turn out exactly the way he forsaw the event; e.g. The Super Eagles will win the final BUT Keshi should be wary not allow the opposition to score first or else...; yeah, if Keshi doesn't do it right, then my prophecy is bogus, lol. I don't remember any prophecy of his when Nigeria failed to qualify for Afcon 12 in Gabon... It does not take a genius to figure that the likes of TBJ are riding on the simple-mindedness of many and thanks to their mind-boggling media-coverage. Even a religious/Christian friend of mine agrees with me (I am agnostic so some might think I'm not being objective). TBJ's followers give the impression that they worship him not "God". |
The OP makes me want to puke. Seriously, are people really this gullible? Do you really think this T. B. Joshua guy was "handpicked" by a superior entity? Oh my... I weep for the simple-minded. |
"69" a few days away from Valentine's; do I see irony? ![]() |
My team of the tournament (3-5-2): Enyeama Ambrose Kone Oboabona Moses Keita Mikel Asamoha Wakaso Pitroipa Emenike Had Alain Traore played more matches, he definitely would have made it in my team of the tournament at the expense of Wakaso. I really wanted to include Omeruo in this team as well but that would make it way too Nigerian. Besides, I truly believe BUF's Kone was fantastic as a CB. Cape Verde's captain Neves gets an honorary mention as well. Captain: Keita Penalty taker: Wakaso Short freekicks: Emenike Long freekicks: Wakaso Right cornerkicks: Wakaso Left cornerkicks: Moses |
Enyeama: 9 Ambrose: 8.5 Omeruo: 8.5 Oboabona: 8 Echiejile: 6 Onazi: 7 Mikel: 8 Mba: 8 Moses: 7 Ideye: 6 Uche: 5 Defensively, the team was outstanding. Our midfield did great. But our attacking options were limited; we truly missed the power and generosity of Emenike. |
tobnical: I can boldly tell u dat this cup is coming to Nigeria today for the following reasons:O__O ... Please tell me that last sentence was a joke. I... I don't even... |
ffo: God dey our side. Go super eagles goThis kind of mentality is so appalling it makes me want to puke. So "God" will choose Nigeria over Burkina Faso? For what reason? Honestly, I am rooting for the SE but if I had to make a decision as to which team I will support based on their fans, Nigeria will come last on my list. A bon entendeur... |
I was at my parent's house in France watching the game. I was so sad. I was 12 years old at the time. |
I will be watching the game at a French ski resort. ![]() |
Prayers aren't going to decide the victor in today's final, unless you guys are under the impression that "God" will favour Nigeria over Burkina Faso. May the best team win. I believe in Keshi's Super Eagles. I just hope Moses and Emenike are fit to play... |
Why is Valentine's day so overhyped?? I try to do a "vals" for my gf at least every month. Don't get why February 14 is so special... |
Honestly, at the start of the match between Ghana and BUF I wanted the former to win because Naija vs Ghana is a "sexier" final on paper; 2 west African rivals. However, after like half an hour into the semis, BUF was clearly the better team and the Black Stars have failed to really shine throughout the tournament (bar the Niger match). So in the end I was happy that BUF won, especially since the ref's officiating was clearly oriented against them/in favour of Ghana. I have no problem with Ghana as a nation. We have a lot to learn from them as a country and I'm sure there are one or two things they could learn from us as well. ![]() |
My top 10 based on what I've heard and what I've seen (for some of the players): 1. S. Eto'o (I know how contentious this is but man, no African comes close to this guy in terms of raw talent AND achievement) 2. G. Weah 3. D. Drogba 4. R. Milla 5. N. Kanu 6. A. Pele Ayew 7. S. Keita 8. L. Pokou 9. T. N'Kono 10. R. Madjer My top 10 based personal preference: 1. S. Eto'o 2. J. Okocha 3. P. Mboma 4. D. Amokachi 5. S. Keita 6. Y. Toure 7. M. Essien 8. V. Enyeama 9. R. Yekini 10. J. Pitroipa |
No one gives a sh|t about this T.B. Joshua guy and it certainly isn't thanks to him that the Super Eagles are in the final. I'm pretty sure "TBJ" was around when Nigeria failed to qualify for AFCON 2012. What happened then? Did he just decide not to "support" or pray for the Egales, just like that? Seriously, it baffles me how gullible some Nigerians are. When "we" pray to God to win a match but our team ends up losing it, we say that it was the players' fault. On the other hand, if they win, all thanks will be given to "God" and the so-called "Men of God" (like TBJ). Preposterous... |
My own ratings: Enyeama: 8 - Impressive, as usual. Reminded me of his performances in WC 2010. Ambrose: 7 - Skillfull and a threat going forward but tends to forget his defending priorities. Omeruo: 6.5 - Good first hour but the last 30 minutes were complicated for him. Oboabona: 7 - My AFCON revelaton; I didn't know we had such a powerful and intelligent defender in our ranks. Solid game. Echiejile: 7.5 - His best game in the tournament so far. His diving headed goal was a classic. Mikel: 8.5 - M.O.T.M. / M.V.P. He dominated the midfield by and large. Onazi: 6.5 - Worked well with Mikel to marshall the play. Mba: 6 - Had a decent game, not as flamboyant as he can be. Moses: 8.5 - He was my pick for man of the match but he was substituted way too early. Our best player of the tournament hands down. Emenike: 7 - A thorn to any defense in this tournament and he proved it against Mali. I hope AFCON give him that deflected goal so he could remain top joint scorer with Ghana's Wakaso... at least till the last game against Burkina Faso (if he is fit that is). Fingers crossed. My 2nd favourite Super Eagle of the tournament behind Moses. Brown: 7 - I like his association with Emenike. They understand each other well. Good game from the ex-Sochaux player. ---- Musa: 7 - My biggest disappointment in this AFCON but tonight he put up a respectable display. Uzoenyi: N/A - Did what he had to do on the flanks; nothing extraordinary. Yobo: N/A. Coach S. Keshi has made fantastic decisions throughout this tournament but I wonder why he did not bring off Emenike (instead of Ideye Brown). The former seems to have pulled a muscle and is now doubtful for a final-berth. Good luck to the SE on Sunday. If players play the way they have against CIV and BUF there's no way Nigeria isn't coming home with the trophy! |
I've got 6-packs and lots of dough. Haters gonna hate. |
A lot of self-hate in here. Pityful view... |
OP, no need to make it sound like you are "coming out of the closet" or something. I am an agnostic who was raised by an Anglican dad and a mother who claims to be Christian but who is part of a sect-like movement. I know it will take time but sooner or later people will realise that religion/dogma is only an illusion. |
1. Naruto isn't a cartoon but anime. 2. The best cartoon of all time is Naruto. https://i524.photobucket.com/albums/cc326/Batflap/b586bcc64fba2b2ce9b2365ecc5e1dd9.gif |
