No to your first question. You do not need a yellow card to the best of my knowledge.

You can take say $2000 and above in cash and evidence of the balance in either electronic or printed form. You may not even be asked about PoF at all but to be on the safe side, be prepared to show it.

The problem is not your SIM card but most likely your phone. Phones like Tecno and Infinix may not work with Canadian phone networks.

Good morning great people. I'm having some concerns about my phone numbers. I really don't want them recycled to some other people, so how can I keep them active even after landing in Canada?

If you have an idle phone say samsung, put the sim cards inside it and keep the phone on always. As long as you receive sms and calls on them, they will remain active. Also, occasionally load say N100 on them.
