^^^ u can't coerce anybody to vote for ur prefered candidate in a democracy. The Oba needs some schooling to tilt him to modern realities. Now he can go and die as i'm quite sure the igbos wont vote for APC. I wanna see him do his worst. Afterall u have yorubas living peacefully in different states of the federation with no one forcefully asking them to vote a particular candidate.

My attention has been drawn to a publication in a national newspaper where HRM Oba Riliwanu Akinolu was alleged to have threatened Igbos in Lagos to make them vote for Ambode.

Last Sunday, all honorary Eze Ndigbos in Lagos paid a courtesy call to HRM Oba Akinolu. At the meeting the visitors praised the Oba for his fatherly support for and cooperation with Igbos in. Lagos. They assured him of their continued good neighborliness with other tribes in Lagos and support everything that'll further strengthen that harmony.

Oba Akiolu on his part acknowledged the enviable performance of Governor Fashola and his contribution to the growth of investments in Lagos. He gave the assurance that he is not disturbed or angry with South-East and South- South votes for President Jonathan as perceived by the Eze Ndigbos. The Obas thereafter called on the Igbos chiefs to show appreciation to Lagos State by supporting his candidate Mr. Ambode for continuity of excellence as they have earlier promised.

He assured them of his continued support‎ and assistance where needed and the meeting ended with the traditional breaking of kolas, alligator pepper, and bitter kola and pouring of liberation on the ground. It was within this context that that the tradition of Lagos with regard to the lagoon came up. It was noted that whoever works against the throne and the interest and peaceful co-existence of Lagos would end up in the lagoon as per tradition.

2.Oba Akiolu stated further that the Igbo people have not betrayed the throne. Lagos has also not betrayed the Igbo people. Lagos has done so much to make the Igbos comfortable and to prosper. For this, we expect reciprocal respect and understanding. The Oba of Lagos prays that the Lagoon and the throne will continue to bless and protect all those who reside and visit Lagos.


3. Oba Akiolu is the father of all irrespective of tribe, religion or political persuasion. In Lagos, we have an old traditional proverb that relates to the Lagoon. The Lagoon is unique to Lagos. The proverb stresses the need for unity and understanding when you do business in an environment and in this case when you live and do business in Lagos.
Oba Akiolu prays for peace for the land of Lagos and prosperity for all its inhabitants.

The election 2015 has been won and lost with the incumbent defeated. I congratulate the winner General Muhammadu Buhari, his party and his supporters for pulling such feat of defeating an incumbent for the first time in Nigeria. Though the PDP is contesting some of the results announced in FOUR States, yet it is a victory that deserves celebration for the APC except the Court decide otherwise.

With respect to my eleventh hour defection to the PDP camp, let me reiterate that I have no regret for my decision. I have to also state that I was never compromised by any political party or government to influence my change of camp. I was passionate for APC and Buhari then, I am passionate for GEJ and the reformed PDP now. I wish Buhari well in the running of his government. My integrity is more important than anything.

To the PDP, I urge them to take the electoral defeat as an opportunity to re-build the party and make it attractive to patriotic Nigerians. The unpopular people in the party need to be phased out for new breed of smart, passionate, patriotic and young politicians. If they have any complaint, the legal process should be explored and not the show of shame as acted by Mr Godsday Orubebe.

To President Jonathan, He lost the popular votes but he kept to his word of not interfering with the process. I sympathise with him and all supporters for his loss at the poll. The most important and honorable thing is that he be ready to handover power come May 29. He should resist any advice from any quarter to perpetuate himself in power beyond the May 29 expiry date.

As for my Brothers and Sisters in the SS and SE, I urge them to accept the will of the people but be rest assured that the struggle for better living will not end with Jonathan's exit from power. We shall continue to demand for better living of our people and the entire Nigerians.

I congratulate General Buhari once again,his numerous supporters and party. I wish Buhari well in his incoming administration.

Those of us that are old enough to remember know that the story below is absolutely true.

Buhari was the General Officer Commanding 3rd Armoured Division in Jos during the coup. He was not involved in the planning nor the execution of the coup. After it was successful, those that carried it out were searching for a senior officer with the highest level on integrity in the Nigerian Armed Forces and Buhari was unanimously adopted.

The notion that he planned and overthrew Shagari is a lie. I don't necessary support his candidacy (and I don't think Tinubu is worth the soil he stands on) but can't stand this lie that has been repeated again and again.

Another thing to note. Shagari/Ekwueme were good men. But those who surrounded them (ministers and governors) with a few exceptions were rotten to the core. The government collectively had basically overseen deterioration of Nigeria's economy from 1979 to 1983.

At the time Buhari took over, our Debt to GDP ratio had exploded, the economy was in free fall, salaries were not being paid and corruption was taking off. The IMF and World Bank asked Buhari to devalue the Naira. He refused. He also instituted austerity measures which are painful but necessary (like bitter medicine).

I look back now and I am confident that if Buhari had not in turn been toppled by Babangida and Nigeria had just three more years of his administrations leadership, we would not be here today. Those four years would have been damned painful but at the end of it, Nigeria would have been set on a proper course. I believe this strongly.

I feel sorry for Buhari as it seems history is repeating itself. IF he is elected (and its still an IF), he will be facing similar macroeconomic problems as 1983 and will have to be the one to take tough decisions that he is not responsible for. Considering how short term minded populations are (not only Nigeria, but globally) by December 2015, Nigerians will be blaming him for the economy.

Just like they are blaming him now for overthrowing Shagari and causing the economic problems of 1983-onwards.
